This makes me want to cry, we've been going to the grand Prarie location for over 10 years and my family and I are very emotionally attached to the chain. So many of our family memories were made there.
I crack up everytime I see us in that kraynaks clip with the Christmas glasses lol!!! I honestly don't think I have ever been to a Don Pablos, but I remember people always saying how good they were. Love that neon!
Nate and WallieB26 i miss Don Pablos's so much it was my favorite place to eat i live by you Nate and i always went to the one in North Canton Ohio which now turned into a BJ's brewhouse on the Strip i always orderded the Don's Primo Combo i will never forget that place .
We used to go to eat at Don Pablo's when we visited DFW. We once drove the three hours just to eat at the one in Greenville, Tx. Loved their fajitas. A manager gave us the recipe one night when we told him how far away we lived and we still make them that way at home to this day. So sad. I just found out they all closed.
I swear they have one of those in Bedford I can't remember I love Don Pablo's I miss that place I grew up going there to eat dinner last time I ate at Don Pablo's was up here in Sterling Virginia for my birthday but I can't remember which year
To my knowledge they are completely gone now. Last locations that I understand closed in 2018. I could be wrong but I believe the chain is completely out of business now.
@@WallieB26 oh yeah buddy I don't know where one would stand anymore the Don Pablo's to be honest I probably ate in that one that's in the video I was born and raised in that area DFW area until 99 then I came to Virginia but yeah I miss Don Pablo's they had good food hey next time you're down in that area check around Bedford probably some abandoned stuff there I don't know I give you a location I know it's not abandon but I don't know if you ever been there check out the Old Bedford school house in Bedford Texas you'll like it it's pretty cool I remember going there one time for a field trip when I was a kid
We had a Don Pablo's up here in WNY, it closed about 5 years ago. Something else moved in there and it closed up too! The food wasn't too bad there! Good video!
A great video! I've never eaten at Don Pablo's. Here in Weirton,WV, we have 2 great Mexican restaurants, Chico Fiesta on Penn. Ave and Crazy Mexican on Three Springs Drive across from the old KMart shopping plaza.
Crazy Mexican is great especially at lunchtime when it is a lot cheaper, every time I'm in the area it's either Crazy Mexican or Bennigan's in Steubenville.
My husband and I loved that place! The food was fantastic! Those margaritas....so good. Now if that Chinese buffet closes, I'm going to have a hissy fit! That place is great too!
I loved Don Pablos. Best mexican ever. I worked there several years as a cook and as a waiter later on... I miss that place. I also hooked up with several of the waitresses, I miss that part even more.
I worked for don pablos for many years! Indiana location and also a New Jersey location. Great food! Both locations were so busy day and night, I never could understand how or why they closed. I’m sure they have reasons! But considering how busy they once were I couldn’t understand.
I have so many memories eating at Don Pablo’s! The one I went to was in Hobart, IN. The dip sampler and chips were amazing and the tortillas as well. Many bday parties were there as well as school gatherings w friends. I loved the ambience I was so sad when they closed. I didn’t know they closed the last franchise in 2019. Maybe MAYBE one of these days someone will bring it back!! 😢😢 One can only hope!!
Man, is this a nostalgia blast for me seeing one of these again. The one in Arlington close to where I live got demolished and I believe the Raising Cane's that's next to a dentist office that was clearly a Pizza Hut at one point was what took its place. I believe also there's an abandoned one in Grand Prairie that's still standing.
They just closed one night and never opened again. Didn't even tell the employees! There was nothing upstairs. Just a real high ceiling in the main dining area. The puddle you walked through was neat the other entrance to the bar. The rain would seep through the wall/windows into the bar.
What's interesting about this location is that all the shrubs hedges bushes and trees appear freshly trimmed, as if the restaurant was simply closed for the day and is ready to open again tomorrow. Doesn't have a lot of overgrown grass and landscaping looking shabby
As to why no one has moved into that location - that whole area that you were in, the west side of Fort Worth/Westworth, has seen it's fair share of abandonment and development issues. 1:56 - that open area across the street was part of Carswell Airforce Base. Everything on that side of the street heading East used to be nothing but military housing and the base; all the businesses you probably saw in that area on that side of the street used to not be there, all of it. After the Cold War the base was schedule to close down by 1994. It's now a Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base. On the opposite side of the street, where the Target, McDonald's, Arby's, etc is now, used to be nothing but forest, that whole entire side. If you drove North from where you are there is a street called Cherry Ln. That street, and that general area, used to have a Target, Home Depot, Kmart, Walmart, Sam's Club, Luby's Cafeteria, 2 movie theatres and a Toys R Us. Eventually, moving back to where you are now, all the abandoned military housing was torn down and development was planed for that side. Kmart had already closed down most if not all of it's locations in Texas. Walmart and Sam's Club closed down their locations off of Cherry Ln and moved to the newly developed area. After that happened development began on the opposite side of the street. Target closed it's location off of Cherry Ln and moved over to the newly developed area. With Target, Walmart, Sam's Club moved and Kmart gone, the area around Cherry Ln saw abandonment. Home Depot shut down, the 2 movie theatres shut down and Toys R Us eventually closed a couple of years ago. Ridgmar Mall, although it's still there and open, is a shell of it's former self much like all most malls are today. The only anchor store it has left is JC Penney. It still has a Dillard's but it's an outlet/clearance Dillard's only. A lot of the businesses around the mall shut down as time went by. That area, especially around the Cherry Ln street, has had it's issues with crime and drugs, poorly kept motels, etc. It's almost as if every time there's development in that area there's also something else being abandoned.
Upstairs at most of the Don Pablo's was the bar (the Margarita's there were total greatness). Also most of them were converted into Buffalo Wild Wings.
I love Mexican food this place look to be pretty cool to eat at when it open up i really enjoy the lights on the front of the door thanks for sharing this videos
Soo many memories eating at that don Pablo's location. Im surprised that location hasn't been turned into a Buffalo wild wings. The north richland hills location don pablos was demolish. But the hulen and Bedford don pablos are now Buffalo wild wings.
Rosa's Cafe is very good which I've not been there in a long time. Always busy here in Lubbock including the drive thru as dine in. Make their own tortillas which to me are the best.
At the beginning of this video, did anyone notice the handgun notification on the wall? No open handguns allowed on these premises .Close those holsters ! Maybe in this state this notification is common place at dining / drinking establishments ? The building looked good except for worn window awnings . The shrubbery was manicured beautifully . I think this place closed because of an over- saturation of Mexican style restaurants in this area .
We have open and concealed carry here in Texas. If a business wants customers to NOT carry they need to post a sign. We have unlicensed carry here as well.
Someone really should look into investing on this property it's a shame it's going to waste just sitting there idle like this. I could see this being a chili's or on the border being here but maybe location is why there no longer in business. It sucks to see property just abondoned. Smh
so much nostalgia looking at this thank you for filming wish y’all could get inside

Don Pablo’s was my favorite restaurant when I was a baby. I hope it comes back to business in the future.
I worked at the one in Rockford, IL, right before I joined the Army back in Aug 2001. Thanks for the memories.

This location had awesome food and a great bar menu. Was shocked it closed and like they say in the video, odd that nothing replaced it.
Before moving to South Texas, my family and i would visit the Don Pablos in Toledo, Oh ALL THE TIME.

Yes, the upstairs was a high ceiling and extra lighting.
Awesome Wallie I was here before 1000 subs you should have 100,000 also what do you use for editing those transitions are freaking awesome

Great video, we had a few Don Pablos around here, they’ve gotten taken over by other restaurants.

awesome thanks , I went here when open
That dining room looks familiar it seems similar to one of the other restaurants u filmed I just can’t remember which one
I used to eat at that Don Pablo's all the time back in the 80s and 90s.
Used to be a go to for the family lives right around on the other side of the base from this restaurant
Do the abandoned applebees in Weatherford TX. I think its still abandoned?
Awesome video

I used to eat here all the time!!! I miss the chips and salsa 💃
I agree Lost. their salsa was served chilled without the pulp. I also had many meals there.
Karen Throne yeah it was pretty good!!
One beautiful building inside and out very unique design compared to the boring box simple designs of today.
The entire chain went out of business in June 2019
Good to know
😥 we were shocked to see this one closed. My teeth were all set for their Queso and enchiladas when we got there several months ago.
What's interesting about this location is that all the shrubs hedges bushes and trees appear freshly trimmed, as if the restaurant was simply closed for the day and is ready to open again tomorrow. Doesn't have a lot of overgrown grass and landscaping looking shabby
My guess is they keep up the landscape to attract a new business
Wild. There was not up stairs though. RIP to the GM he died in January

We had some in Cincinnati but not anymore.
Don Pablo’s was the best chain on the planet it’s just sad what happened to it
That was a greattttttttt place to eat...
If you want to see an open former Don Pablo's there is one now an El Fenix next to Irving Mall
The closing song... what is it?! I've been trying to find out for a yr!! Lol
There is one in front of the old Summit Place Mall site in Pontiac/Waterford, MI
Been sitting empty for at least 14 or 15 years now
They were really good can't believe they closed
Man this brings back memories. Ate there manytimes. I hadn't realized they closed this location and all the rest since the stupid pandemic started ..
Plan on checking out the historic baker hotel located in mineral wells Texas while you are here visiting texas? JW
