      In all honesty, I myself can sing, taught myself listening to my OWN VOICE over Casio speakers on my keyboard. And I actually can sound pretty good singing other artist's songs, but just trying to sing a Mint Condition song, like Pretty Brown Eyes? Ayo, believe me when I tell you, Stokley Williams has NO RIVAL singing-wise. I am HARD PRESSED to name a male vocalist who has his incredible range. The competition is none with Stokley.

      Migos is a rap group. A band has a bass player, Guitar player, Keys, Sax, etc.. The whole nine. Me being musician myself, I can tell you that there are definitely black bands and black musicians never went away. They are either playing Neo-Soul lounges in your local city, Cruises, or in the church. The problem is that White Owned record labels have a monopoly on Black music and refuse to sign actual Black bands.

    • @peaktopeaksound
      @peaktopeaksound 7 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      This is why Mint Condition have always been underrated, despite them making relevant music..White owned labels that whore out Black Culture have turned away from signing and pushing black bands in all shapes and forms.

    Prince is GOAT! Straight like that! He tried to wake us up. From writing slave on his face to the lotus album which represents the spiritual awakening that opens the crown chakra to decode the secrets of the world. Then he did the THIRD EYE GIRL BAND! He was trying to tell us to pay attention to our temples and how they work. Many of us don’t know what the temple (body) can do. We have more then one body. We have seven light bodies. When he did purple rain I believe he was saying let purple (the color of the crown chakra) reign as in rule. Stop letting out red corvette (root chakra) drive our life’s decisions. Yes he was talking about a woman but he was an expert in double speak, making things mean several things depending on the level of the person who’s listening. The cherry moon was a heads up to the blood moon tetrads we had. Which is very rare! Let’s go crazy: he was telling us to stop being assimilated. Do what resonates and feels good to u. F what other ppl think. Be who u are at all times. He also warned us about 9/11. Saying “bin laden getting ready to bomb”! He was an esoteric writer like Shakespeare mixed with Beethoven and Mozart! That’s why he dressed the way he did. He came to me in a dream before he died. I won’t go into what happened here. But let’s just say, he had prepared for his transition to the higher dimension! He ain’t dead. He came alive when he left he’ll on earth !

      PR does represents the Purple Crown Chakra raining down on you. Godlike infinite timeless depth. Also the lotus flower is connected to the number 7 in numerology, with Prince being a number 7 Gemini (interview with his photographer confirms his love of numerology th-cam.com/video/tMHmWE1EqDc/w-d-xo.html). I never picked up on the red corvette root chakra link, but it makes complete sense given his use of the purple crown chakra on the same album, PR. He was indeed an expert in esoteric doublespeak, which the elite uses to fool the masses. From the moment he wrote SLAVE (Agenda 21) on the side of his face, he became a whistleblower of sorts, warning the public of upcoming changes to public policy & market strategy etc. His release of the song Crystal Ball in 1998 (originally made in 1986) is his warning of the upcoming 'War on Terror". Note that the Bin Laden riff was done around this time too! P was the most bootlegged artist in the world. Starship Troopers was also released around this time (see rob agers analysis of this).

      Also note Prince sampling Ancient Egypt's golden age with Emancipation. There's a lot to uncover from that period. Pay attention to his interview from that time period. The one where he said him and mayte met in a past life in Egypt. Doublespeak! And how he was inspired by a rebel egyptian king that went against the grain. His way of reasoning his actions during this time.

    I was a 18 year old kid at that Rolling Stones Tour in LA 1981 when Prince was booed off of the stage. He was the opening act which included J Geils & George Thorogood and we didn't know who he was. I remember people were throwing their shoes at him till he quit! He left halfway through his 3rd song but I remember thinking, He HAD to be Someone to open for The Rolling Stones... I mean how do you get a gig like that? Fast forward a little more than one year later and he releases his 1999 Album, with Little Red Corvette, Delirious, and the title track.. and then after that followed it up with the Purple Rain album. I Still put his Super Bowl performance as one of the best ever.. (along with U2's post 911 Super Bowl show). If you haven't seen his performance..check it on TH-cam.. Best live performance of Purple Rain EVER.. and done in the falling Miami rain.

    There are so TRUE stories about Prince just appearing! My cousin lived in Minnesota & her & her boyfriend were at a comedy club. & some 1 said "Prince is here!" Everyone thought he was playing. Then she looked closer & it was him he had been in the crowd the whole time with a leather zip up jumpsuit that zipped up around his face! #legendary

    I was playing a gig in Phoenix a few years ago and in walks Micky Free, (I had no idea who he was but he looked like a rockstar). He complimented us and bought the band a round - he told me his name and I instantly knew him from the Charlie Murphy story. After a bit I said “I gotta ask” ... without any hesitation he cut me off mid sentence and said “Yes, it’s true! All of it - even the pancakes!” He was super cool to talk to and he gave me his card with an actual phone number and email - a real down to earth person. That was my only Prince moment - true story!

    Met Stokely and Mint Condition a few times between 1992-1996... My sister from Minneapolis dated ( James Popeye Greer ) their Manager and also Co-Engineer for Jimmy & Terry @ Flyte Time Studios, so I got to hang out alot at concerts backstage and in their Hotel room... They were so Awesome Live and Stokely was The Man on Vocals and Drums... What tripped me out was seeing The Time drummer ( Jellybean Johnson ) playing Rhythm Guitar with Mint Condition on a few shows... And when Stokely wasn't playing, Chris Dave played drums and later joined the band ( he a badd boy too )... Those were some of the best years of my life... I really thought I was the sh## back then...

    Prince DEFINED the androgynous look. He toured with Rick James, of whom the term "Punk Funk" was given. The two toured together and Rick messed with 'em pretty mercilessly. The guy was channelling the New Wave / Punk thing--he crossed over to EVERYONE. Did you see the clip of James Brown having Michael and Prince up on stage... In my mind there was NO contest between the two. Micheal was an incredible heavyweight--but Prince played THIRTEEN instruments and was more like, well Mozart. He was a genius, he channelled Little Richard, Jimi Hendrix, Sly Stone, George Clinton AND James Brown.
    Have you listen to his jazz /funk tapes--he was unbelievable.

I recommended, he call Stokely.He hadn't heard of Stokely and I was surprised, so I told him that this brother was one of the baddest ever to sing. This was in the early 2000's, so Jay reached out to his people.. " You should be mine" was the song and Jay Spencer thanked me afterwards. One day, I hope to share that story with Stokely.:)
