Nice review, got one for Christmas in 1977 aged 11. It’s still immaculate even though it’s had tens of thousands of pellets through it. Came in a cardboard display box with a Webley telescopic sight, the mount and standard sight. Plus a poster of classic Webley pistols, which has been unfolded and folded many times. So many happy memories of shooting it with my dad and grandfather.
I got my moms Hurricane as a gift, really a sci fi looking pistol. I thought it was brand new! Really a nice peice, im thinking about buying a scope soon.❤
This is incredible! It's like you've invented time travel, gone back to the 70's, bought a copy of Airgun World, flicked to the adverts and sent off your postal order! What an exceptional find! Well done sir for a fabulous review and a wonderful trip back to better days!
Thankyou for taking the trouble to make your video it was very useful . I have just been given a 177 in used condition and the safety does not work but as you say it’s a very nice gun. P.S don’t tell my dad ! ( just been told it’s ok as I’m 76 ) ! Well done !
I have a .177 Hurricane that I bought sometime in the 90’s, I still have the original shipping box and everything it came with, but it never had a pellet trap that I see others have.I used to take it with me when I was camping, great entertainment shooting empty beer cans, I used to turn them on there side, and aim for the hole in the top. Although I’m left handed, I usually shot right, but it is possible to shoot left, and since I’ve lost a great deal of vision in my right eye, it’ll either be left or nothing.
Thats a really nice example. I remember the paint always came off the side with heavy use. I always wanted one when i was a kid. I had a Harrington Gat which you had to charge by pushing the barrel in and unscrewing a pin and loading from the back, but i loved it. Used to shoot below and left but i allowed for that and was actually pretty accurate with it up to 15ft ha ha and a bit further when i fired darts. I had 2 of them. One of them i inheritied from my uncle which was twice the power of my original one for some reason and was much harder to push down and load. I later aquired a. Original Mod 5 .22 which was much more powerful. I remember i had a butterfly knife(ballysong) that i traded for it, from a lad at school in early 90,s. It was a nice knife, but not as nice as an Original mod 5 pistol. He probably wanted to get rid of it for some mischievous reason which worked well as i wanted to get rid of the butterfly knife as i learned they were not legal over here and was given to me by a friend who bought it on a school holiday in france. All the best from lancashire.
Thank you. Yes my first one no longer had paint after about 2 months of constant use. Still shot like a boss tho lol. I also had a old beat up snap barrel that looked like a old war time replica... Shot so low and to the side but i often connected with my targets. Yes sadly things like that a no longer legal in the uk. Many thanks for watching and commenting fella 👍
All the best from me ' Top Shot ' agree with you 100 % , those WEBLEY'S were fantastic ! Could shoot the b-ll's of a fly off with one at 10 ft ! 😄 ha ha ha ! !
Great Video, I bought one during a holiday in spain, still as brand new in de box, it's realy a gun to have in your collection. Thanks for your video and explanation
Thank you for your feed back Peter. Yes i fully agree, deffo a pistol worthy of collecting. I dont use mine to much if i can help it as i want it to stay as mint as poss. Many thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it. Stay safe 🙏
I have a hurricane - purchased it in Pasadena, CA around 1980, so it’s now over 40 years old. I still have the black cardboard box it came with and a the optional rosewood grips (aftermarket ?). I shoot it once in a while. I think I paid almost 100 US for it back then, so it wasn’t cheap.
Thanks for the great nostalgia trip ....I had a .22 hurricane back in the day (the early 80's). Great solid pistol.... and lots of fun memories with my mates ...and yes, I too regretted selling mine.
Lol no worries fella. Im glad you enjoyed the video. But yes they are some awesome bits of kit for there day. Yea they have that affect on people who sell them lol. Many thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
@@airriflesuk5997 No sorry, it's in disrepair at the moment, it needs an O-ring replacement. I do remember it would go thru plywood with a full CO2 and hunting pellets.
Found my 25yr old on a shelf today when decorating, had to try it of course after 20yrs of neglect and it's fine. I don't squeeze as smoothly as you standing at 10m but with practice perhaps... lt's a .22 and might need lubricant? Thanks for sharing your insights and demonstration
Great review man , I think I had one of these pistols as a boy but not sure as it was awhile ago now , looked similar. I had a gat gun, which was very low on power. I have recently got back into airguns an have a few rifles an a couple of pistols now. Greetings from Portsmouth England 🏴
Why thank you kind Sir ! Im the same, was into them as a youth, then pucked them back up as an adult. There lovely but an absolute money pit of a hobby lol... Superb pistols that knock socks of anything made these days imo. Quality and simplicity at its best. Back at you from Plymouth fella 🙏
My dad just gave me his one of these, .22. Has a kick like a mule lol. After around 50 practice shots and a bit of tinkering with the sights I am finally getting a decent grouping around the bull (or thereabouts) on a 4"x4" target from around 10 yards. Great gun though and my dad has well looked after it and I am on pain of death to keep it well oiled and in good nick. Thank you for this review, really great. :) All the very best, Del
Thats a grand story that. Its good to hear its been passed down. And what a testament to how well built they were. I have a hurricane and a tempest. The hurricane is an original made 19 odd years ago and the tempest was made recently over in Turkey, the hurricane is miles better quality... Thanks for sharing, and thanks for watching Del 👍👍
That’s a nice I always wanted one as a young teenage lad but they were a bit pricey…. i’m thinking of getting a second hand one to use… if i can find one (where the spring and seals haven’t been abused) i’m not a collector so not bothered about a display box … which would bring the price down a bit…. as long as i can find one that works well…. otherwise it’ll have to be a webley typhoon….they vary greatly in price from seller to seller!!
I have had this one in .177 for over 30 years now. I kept it in a similar plastic case with foam like yours, for over 20 years without opening. When I recently opened the plastic case, the foam was completely dried out and disintegrated. But whatever chemical was in the foam (probably oil based), had eaten the surface of the gun. The pattern of the foam is etched into the gun now... Really weird.
Now that is weird. Sounds like a slight restoration job is in order. Im glad i keep mine in a hard pistol carry case. Many thanks for taking the time to comment fella. Stay safe 🙏

Hi again mate, Well couldn't find a new one but found a mint used one, thanks for taking the time to reply,I did however find a new boxed webley tempest tho so bought that aswell 🤣
Thanks for the review, its the best one I have seen. I have just bought one from my local gun shop. It didn't have any of the accessories that yours had and its .22 caliber. I probably paid over the odds for it but I totally agree with you the pistol oozes quality. Mine is an early model i.e. made between 1975 and 1990, it still packs a punch though. I have cleaned and lubricated it using silicon based oil (much better than mineral oil) which has really improved the efficiency of the piston seal giving it more power. The shop said it didn't have a serial number but I found it under the hand grip. Has yours got one there by any chance? Cheers
Your bro sounds like a sensible fella... Unlike me years and tears ago i sold my first one... Many thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :)
Ive got one of these! You need good technique to shoot it accurately - can jump and throw your shot off. I find it both satisfying and challenging to shoot. Like the bonsai too.
Yes there not for the faint hearted. Thankfully ive had a few years practise shooting a springer pistol these days, so i kinda know what im doing.. Plus this hurricane could do with a service as its under powered at the mo as it spent its life so far in a box... You need to unscrew the iron sights, and then put the black thing back in there place using the same screw you got out of the iron sights.
Good luck 👍
