- Modifying and X-Acto blade holder, It's a quick simple build to keep using my favorite old tool. I use a 3/8" copper tube and make a steam punk X-acto blade holder.

Love this! I can relate to the attachment. I have the same knife that has been in my art life for 37 years. It may sound dumb to others, but it’s been with me in some really great times.
I now want to disassemble perfectly good craft knives and wood turn better handles for them! Thank you for the inspiration
Awesome
I am a machinist, clock nd watch maker. Your channel is great!! So many of your videos give me fundamental ideas in other areas to work on. Thanks!
Gotta save those favorite tools! Looking good!
Nice COC shirt! Thanks for the awesome video!
Simple and impressive job.
That's a slick idea Eric! I will try that on one of my X-Acto knives too. Thanks for the tip.
Any time!
Aesthetic and functionality at the same time. 🤩
TheCimbrianBull Thanks!
Cool. Another option would be to reinforce the blown-out end of the original handle with a metal ring. That way, it's still 100% the same tool. There's an old joke about the farmer who claimed to have Abraham Lincoln's original axe, though he admitted that over the years he had replaced the head once and the handle twice.
Bonus for the Corrosion shirt! And also thanks for laying this out. I've been using a traditional blade holder where the screw's down by the blade and I wanted to buy one of the old Gripster-style that I used all through school... that's when I came across your video here. It's cool! And nice shirt.
Thanks, "Vote with a bullet" was the song that hooked me, they are very underrated, saw them recently on tour, that's where I got the shirt. Rock on! Thanks for your comment and support, much appreciated. Stay safe when cutting with your X-acto!
@@EricStrebel Right on. I picked up a few of the Excel handles (they have another model that they must have released after your video). So, that's all good. I'm cutting foamcore, sloppily... but still, fun stuff.

I love your work and just started following you, but, that COC t-shirt, just won my heart.
fuelhemi426 Thank you, glad you like the VID and the shirt, love that band! Don't forget to check out my Kickstarter campaign for the "Alfred" Backpack hanger kck.st/2Yi2Qnd thanks for your comment and support much appreciated.
Great job. I had the same x-acto with the same problem. I used brass tube and by aesthetic I removed the hexagonal nut. It feels very good in my hand. Greetings.
Steam punk all the way!!!
I have a number of craft knives...i recommend the tamiya one over the standard no.11 blades...the angle of the tamiya blades is far better when cutting.
But good job on the mod
great content Eric! keep it up
This mans has a 20 yr old exact knife.........coooooool
I replaced the plastic barrel on mine with a piece of bronze brake line I had laying around.
Sweet
WTH.... why didn’t I think of that... lol nice hack. Guess what I’m doing this afternoon.
Nice video, well done. New subscriber
Great, feel free to share on social media. And enjoy the videos 😀
could you make the holder out of epoxy resin. Thanks
First time watching & I've already concluded that this man is a perfectionist after my own heart 🙆❣️
👍 liked, subd
Iam not making but I like you
Interested by the safety gloves. What was it name?
Reminds me of the old joke: This is George Washington's original axe. Of course, the head and the handle were replaced over the years ...
Cymerian Designs LOL, see comments below
Eric Strebel - Well nuts, that'll teach me to read all the comments first.
Methuselah told this exact same joke…but the setup and punchline have changed a few times since then 😏
Can you get these at walmart?
I have no idea if you can, search the site
I created a new type of art knife, would you be willing to review my prototype?
see 'Ive had this broom for 20 years' sketch from Only Fools and Horses
Do you know how to remove rust from a knife
I've never seen an x-acto handle like this before. I understand it's the Gripster?
Does this handle suffer from coming unscrewed or the blade being able to tilt backward like other handles? Up until now, I've just been Blue Loctiting my x-acto handle so it doesn't come un-screwed on its own.
GalaxyStranger01 The end screws tight, but the original plastic tube had started to fail, you cans it in the beginning of the video. Thanks for your comment
Thanks
can I cut metal sheet with x acto knife
Try it, but probably not, unless it's very very thin
Loose the exacto knife and get a plastic handle surgical scalpel and blades, Much better performance and cheaper blades !
Your hands are going to stink 😂😂 😂😷
The copper gonna make ur hand stink though
Nonsense
@@EricStrebel ok
Infact copper is killing germs and provides a near antiseptic surface - no bacteria to generate "stink" (why it is widely used as doorhandle material in German hospitals)
