Rob I’ve just put you up on a pedestal as a Slot Car Superhero. Incredible workmanship on this build. All that and I got to see the lathe in action again 🤩 Great video, totally enjoyed watching 👍
Fantastic video Rob! Cant wait to try it out on My lovely track that You made for Me! still rather busy with modeling and scenery but slowly getting there! For anyone else watching Rob has been My inspiration for having a go at upgrading My Old but much loved shelf cars and I feel this is definately the way forward for Me! Once You have watched Robs videos, In My case Many Many times!, You soon get the confidence in having a go Yourself. Its very satisfying to bring New life into an old car . Why pay upwards of £70 for a new performance slot car when You can have the satisfaction of creating Your Own! Anyways Rob, Thank You Very Very Much. Stuart
It's an absolute pleasure Stu, you are more than welcome and thank you. I look forward seeing your new track finished and running. maybe one day I'll get a chance to run on it 😀 All the best, Rob.
Another top class build Rob .What you do to these cars makes me embarrassed to even imagine i could tune a slot car car .It's way beyond anything I could do .Thank you for sharing your magic with us 🤗
There's a huge amount of know how and experience gone into making this. I've thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the last near hour after a long day and I've learned a lot too. Noone else seems to be really doing much more than basic and non intrusive tuning to ex factory of cars these days. Well done Rob and thank you so much for sharing.
This is my kind of geeking out, I love it, thank you for sharing such an awesomely informative video. I've done a lot of these practices except for the vacuum formed interior.
Another enjoyable car mod vid...funnily enough I have an Escort Cossie under the desk for upgrading. Like you, I totally dislike air rims, not just for Rally but any racing, I fill the void with old foam tyres trued down to just above the height of the ribs...or another option is file the ribs down on a lathe (or drill) then 3D print a centre rib. ...I always enjoy the music...heavy Bass toonz is a fave 🎸
Yep I can't see the advantage in air rims, sales hype if you ask me. I understand the 'reasoning', but I'm not convinced! I'm a bit of a metal head, so it's thrash all the way 😀
@@SwiftSlots any sponge will do, I usually use revoslot sponge tyres and cut them to fit and then add holes , leave a slight raised part and then you get a nice flat part but softer than a filled wheel.
Rob would you consider making what I consider one of the best looking Ford Escort Mk2’s? It the Barry Lee 351 (Hot Rod) 1980 season Mk2 RS2000. He fitted it with rubber side skirts to create downdraft if it worked is debatable but with it’s Total Oils livery it really did look awesome. Keep posting your wonderfully informative videos. You really are a world class modeller who sets a standard on TH-cam that only very few can emulate.
@@robbeaumont4811 Yes, that build has had a very strong interest for some reason. The body is now all painted and I've just finished applying the decals, all looking good. The video is at the 30 minute mark edited as of this evening. It will be going up next Friday 7pm all being well 🙂
Ho well, I doubt the real car had a plastic body or electric motor ether. The fuel tank on show is no doubt wrong as well 😀 But I can tell you the vac interior is way lighter than the OG one 🙂
Great video. Kinda of an off topic question: what background cardboard print do you use? Is that ordered as-is, or do you send the design to get printed? Cheers, mate. Great channel
All my backgrounds are for model railways, there are loads to pick from depending on your country, get the self sticky ones and stick em on 3mm foam board. Thanks 🙂

Thanks Man 😀 The lathe will always be used, I can't live without it.

Fantastic Rob, enjoy watching you take a standard car and turn it into something you can race. 🏁 👍
Thanks 🙂
Wow another episode with me catching flies😮 the interior definitely interested in a set👌 what a transformation Rob
I'm glad you liked it, you know where the vac forms are when you are ready 🙂

Yes, I thought I'd introduce the vac forming process in this video, it seemed like a good time to do it :-) Thanks.
Can’t wIt to see how this turns out, it’s going to be a Beast

I put sponge in between the gap.. works well for me
@@paulcooper5200 Yep, sponge works as well, I just don't have any stiff sponge in stock.

I'm not an Escort Mk2 guy, I'm a Talbot Sunbeam Man. Thank you for your kind comments 🥰

Brilliant!!
Thank you 🙂
Worth noting that original Group N regs required a full interior to be present, it is correct for an Escort Cosworth to have the rear seat.

What silicone and resin do you recommend for castings such as those in this video?
What camera do you use Rob? I just got a GoPro 10 for possible future YT videos
Iphone 6S+, I can't afford anything newer sadly.
I have one of those vacformers, what plastic do you use for making interiors?
.015" PEGT 🙂
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe 👍👍🚗🚗🍾🥂🤗🤗
