Im obvi venting about specific cases. but jeeZus wept. the problem is these women assisting in their own repeat victimization. & idk what to do about it. but if i had to compare the number of people who NEVER got out (even w/full resources, w/o death threats, w/a safe place to go) vs the ones who didnt call them as soon as the police left, and then dated another one of them if they happened to go to jail. i dont want to blame the victim: but we have to be honest about the area that needs strengthening if you actually want to make a difference. most of the abusers are not these homicidal PI hiring stalkers; they are mid level addicted aholes who would have no power if the women stopped going back. NO power. but they nearly all always do. & when they get away, it is only until the next one. & offering any assistance, over time, becomes an abusive relationship in its own right.
