  • Another Day fishing at West Newbiggin. The water level was still low with only a slight chance of a fish. any chance of catching a fish is better than sitting at home

      Thanks I could not add your name as I can't find it . I envy being able to catch some of the seatrout that you have in Argentina
      keep going with your videos Cheers Iain. 🥃

    Nice to back on the River Iain, I got the line wet this week a couple of seatrout and a take from a Salmon but would commit 🙄

      There seem to be a few big seatrout this year Paul I hooked three on Wednesday and they all fell off ...... It was t dark to record so this one is stuck in the memory bank at the back of my brain . I am sure with the water levels being higher your salmon will be with you shortly Tight Lines. Cheers Iain 🥃

    Just not your turn Iain! A few playing games just not looking for the fly. Cardrona awaits, maybe!😎

      we all have spells going to the right place at the wrong time . I was out on Wednesday late evening and hooked three big seatrout and lost them all the only trouble was it was dark and the camera doesn't pick it up and a video with sound only of something splashing isn't that interesting ...... Had a great time but have to keep this one to myself Cheers Iain 🥃

    Another 20 minutes of suspense and wonderful surroundings. Nice to see a few splashes. Using a tried and trusted fly and immaculate presentation. The rest is entirely up to the fish. I've never been disappointed with a day's fishing. They're all good days. Sometimes I put lack of fish down to my efforts at conservation :).
    Anyway, I'm off for a few days on the mighty Humber river as the fish seem to be coming in. Never know your luck. Great slow water for the dry bombers. Please keep the videos coming. They're the next best thing to being out on the river. Cheers from Newfoundland. Steve

      Thanks for your great comment I have often thought about stopping or cutting back on videos but I have had so many anglers ask me to keep adding my trips to TH-cam . I have to admit that I very rarely put on my bad casts and maybe some day I will make a video of my cockups Just to show that I am just the same as all other anglers I wish you all the best on your trip Steve and please let me know how you get on Tight lines Cheers Iain. 🥃

    Very nice video Iain. What in your opinion is the ideal water height on West Newbiggin. I fish a bit further down where its around 1ft on Norham. Cheers Phil

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that it fishes best around 1ft Philip but I have had fish when it's been only a couple of inches. Fish have been a bit scarce at West Newbiggin this year. Cheers Iain 🥃

      Thanks Motueka. I think that all of us would like to be treaded the same way that we would treat others . this usually happens if we meet the same guys next trip . All the very best

      Hi again Mike I have never had a try on a float tube I had one for a few years but never went out on it .... I hope that your tomorrow went well ..... You are a lucky man having a wife that enjoys the same pastimes . I hope that its not to competitive and both enjoy a wee dram and conversation about your adventures Tight Lines Cheers Iain 🥃

      Tell me about it she loves to play golf and fish and has her own personal guide plus she is pretty good on the oars of our drift boat and a chef . My friends all tell me how lucky I am . And there right , I attribute it to dumb luck . 🥃🥃🥃

    Hi Iain , certainly a few splashing about there but no interest at all , thought you would of had one when you had that bit of cloud cover but nothing happened. Still great viewing Iain can’t wait for the next. Tight lines. Steve. 🍷

      I was out on Wednesday evening Steve and very little moving the rain was torrential and the river was rising and starting to colour . I new that there would be a chance of a seatrout as it got dark so fished on .......... I hooked three biggies as it got dark and lost them all and it was too dark to edit my evening but great fun . Cheers Iain 🥃

    looks like you had the same problem i ran into last week lots of fishermen, not any fish interested In anything but splashing around!

      I think that there are a lot of anglers all over the northern hemisphere are having difficulty getting a fish to take Andrew. what else would we do with our time if we couldn't get out fishing
      we still have fun meeting anglers and exchanging stories
      all the best and tight lines on your next trip. Cheers Iain 🥃

    The cast you use most often, is that a double spey?

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry about the delay in responding Jack. I was out last week and drowned my camera and been busy trying to resurrect it.
      on the right bank I use a double spey cast and on the left bank I use a single spey cast . I seem to have been doing a lot of fishing on the right bank and that results in doing more double spey casting
      Cheers Iain 🥃

    Hi Ian, fantastic images. I may have asked you this previously. but what camera are you using and where have you it mounted? Tight lines, Aidan

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi again Aidan I have become a bit of a collector and have a few cameras the ones I use for recording my fishing trips are GoPro and I use a chest mount . the main reason for this is if I have it attached to my head whatever I record is quite blurred as I keep looking around at my surroundings
      Cheers Iain 🥃

    What size of rod thanks

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alan The rod I am using is 12ft for a 7 The shooting head I am using is a Rio Scandi 8 weight which had the last 3ft eaten one day by a sheep when I wasn't watching. I have made a new loop and normally fish it with a 12ft floating pollyleader
      my running line is a cheep one that cost me £6.99 and I have made loops on either end for quick changes
      if I can be of further help let me know. Cheers Iain. 🥃

    No luck not good other anglers on opposite bank 🤞next time

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think because of the conditions it would be pointless trying to rush past the other anglers on the water James . we have to smile and watch others having the same results
      Cheers Iain 🥃
