@@luissonoma6255 sorry chap I didn’t realy explain it very well, we use the tape to prolong the life of the timber by tapping the tops of all the joists, this will help from water insects and rot, the tape is designed to seal around the fixings/screws to prevent the water following them down into the timber, hope this is a little clearer, Cheers
one of the things that worries me is that water will still get in through the screw holes , and when it does it wont dry out as well as if there was no tape ...also wonder about UV damage
Butyl tape - the stuff in the video is not butyl, and is crazy expensive in the U.S.- is designed to seal around screw holes. Not to mention the fact that a hole with a screw in it is mighty damn tight for water entry. Atop ground contact pressure treated wood, the only material suitable for a deck structure, butyl tape should make the stuff last for decades.
Uh.....you FAILED to say ‘Why you use joist tape’! What is that tape for? What is it’s purpose?
If your in the game you will know what it’s for and why we use it,
Bri Ha..U have to be a bit thick not to understand why u would use waterproof tape over wood🤡
