      The bread, in the Balkan region as well as anywhere else in the world was and is a poor peoples, and slaves food in the past. Just as means to add extra calories in the meals for some sustenance cause people didn't have, were restricted or were not allowed to have meat by whover was ruling them over. The human body doesn't need at all grains especially not super processed ones nowadays and wont be missing at all if they are largely reduced or even better completely omitted! Try keto, ketovour and when you are ready full carnivour. Yes it might mean overcoming brokie mode of existence as well. Your body will thank you, energy levels over the roof, sustained energy, no crush, elevated cognitive ability allaround, oh yeah testosterone level way above average and especially compared to the bread/carb eaters... 🤔 Ah yeah, waist line to normal levels and easy to keep close to ideal bmi index and get six pack. No need to thank me, your body will! The bune-nebune surely don't complain when I come over in Romania, that's for sure! 😉 Yes I'm from the Balkans as well, and I managed to unlearn the massive bs dietry habbits of the region, with the loads of nightshade vegetables, bread and tons of other bread like dough products which were as I said just a coping - survival tool and just to get through and survive through the ages, regardless whether was the Ottoman rule, Byzantines before, or all the wars and communism in 20th century. Yup, its unusual and might seem crazy but hey the info and data, as well as countless of thousands of people that have changed their health to dramatically better is out there. Beware, the common side effects are: you might become sharper, wiser, critical thinker as well as physically stronger and overall kinda like turn into wolf compared to easily controlled sheep. You won't take crap easily. p. s Makes you wonder if the Balkan region /people would've been screwed over so much through the centuries if they somehow managed to eat more red met(yes red meet, Beef) definitely we would have been tougher target and a headache to be messed with.

    I appreciate your honesty and I think it's only natural that you would dislike some things that you are not used to. Those over-enthusiastic guys that clame everything is fantastic tend to get on my nerves...
    I'm Romanian, and what I can tell you is that taste varies wildly, depending on who makes the stuff. Also, you must eat the stuff in the proper way. Ciorba de burta (tripe soup) is meant to be served hot, with fresh bread, lots of sour cream and garlic paste (mujdei). The sweet cheese pancakes can be good if you have the right kind of cheese. The problem is restaurants rarely have it, so it will taste strange, be either too dry or too wet, and if you don't like raisins just make them without them. Papanași also will be verry different from place to place, some can be really good, some even bad, so I usually don't order them in restaurants, unless I know the place and trust the kitchen.
    One more thing, I realize it's hard to make a video like that, but please go to a good (not turist trap) restaurant and eat it as it is served there, not ordered at home. Just do it for yourself, no need to film it. And don't be afraid to ask the servers how you should eat something if you never had it before, doing it the wrong way will ruin the experience.

    • @m0t0b33
      @m0t0b33 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dude, the tripe soup is made with those ingredients...if you have to add them to it when you serve it, it's not done right. At home or any self-respecting restaurant, they serve it with bread, a hot pepper (ciusca), and put the vinegar nearby, if it wasn't already on the table along with the oil, salt and pepper. That is, if you like it more sour than it already is, because it also contains vinegar. Also the "sweet cheese" is just quark cheese, but flavored with lemon/orange zest, a bit of vanilla and sugar, "tied together" with an egg and mixed until it reaches a pasty consistency... if it's too soft and kinda soupy, you can add a bit of flour or "gris" to it, to absorb some of the moisture and not make it leak from the crepe, or pie.

    Attention people who try Romanian food to make videos about it: if you try traditional food, I don't know what the rule of thumb is for other countries, but the best food you'll ever have is the home cooked kind, cause in restaurants, they sometimes cut through some processes, or ingredients to make a buck, so the quality shouldn't be held at the highest standards, especially when it's not served with the right stuff or has the right plating; plastic boxes aren't gonna enhance the flavor of a nice hot bowl of tripe soup, with hot pepper and a slice/piece of fresh bread. Not in a gazillion years. Or at the very least, get a local foodie to show you the way. Thank you for coming to my TED talk LOL.

    I'm Romanian and I wouldn't eat tripe soup ever, looks horrible, that thing won't go in my mouth again after my first try, the brain I tried, but I don't like it. Pancake with sweet cheese, I like it if there are no dry grapes involved. Every dessert with dry grapes is a crime for gastronomy(food), but Papanasi, is the first time in my life I have heard someone who don't like it, maybe the ones you ordered were not well made, otherwise that's impossible to not like Papanasi. I guess it depends on the restaurant, everyone makes them a little different. Best soup I ever had is "supa crema de legume" and it has to be from Bucharest, only they have perfected the recipe, when it comes to sarmale, which is also a national dish, I hate it, but the thing is, if instead of cabbage, you roll it using grape leafes, it is 10/10, amazing dish, if you hadn't tried it, you should, with sour cream, heaven on earth.

    • @JuliainRomania
      @JuliainRomania  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I TOTALLY agree with you regarding the Papanasi and the Sarmale! I don't hate the ones made with Cabbage, but the ones made with grape leaves are definitely a 10/10!
      As I said in the video, I can't like branza dulce at all! It is for sure something I cannot understand how people really like it... The one I ate in the video was for sure the best Branza Dulce I ate here, cause the other ones left me traumatized 🤣For what concerns the tripe soup... I mean, I was expecting something worse than that, but for sure I won't have it again... in this lifetime 😬
      Thank you soooo much for your comment! And if you think we should try some other dishes, please let me know! I will totally take notes!!

As I mostly eat Italian food, the only(other) Romanian dish that I would recommend would be "Mamaliga cu Branza si Smantana" + "Aripioare de pui la Gratar", I believe these ingredients go very well together and it's delicious. I'm not sure how healthy it is tough, but still better than junk food.

      @@JuliainRomania I remember as a kid that I always liked much better pancakes with jam or chocolate rather than sweet cheese (it was a sort of ricotta actually) - nowadays I kind of appreciate them better. But then it is a bit unfair to say that the notion of sweet cheese is a horrible concept - after all, as you were saying, cheesecakes are in essence following the same concept, and they are a hugely popular and widespread kind of desert in the world. There also many kinds of cheese that are made with fruit pieces added into them, popular in many countries. The important thing, though, is to have a good quality cheese to start with, delicate, not very strong, very fresh, so it suits itself to be sweetened and become a desert. Adding sugar or fruits to an already bad cheese won't make it any better... I would say it works against it actually.
      In my experience, the same is true about tripe soup - often this is not made with fresh, cleaned, good quality ingredients and then the result can be horrible. It a bit like cooking with bad meat or stinky fish (though there are some who like even those!) - the result can be disgusting. Another good comparison is with sushi - you cannot just use any kind of fish cuts and expect that results would be delicious :o

    • @RaduRadonys
      @RaduRadonys 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JuliainRomania Well actually the sweet cheese is the most natural cheese. Sweet cheese is the common name for unflavored cheese (no salt or sugar). My mother used to make at home cheese, and it was naturally sweet. What we are used to now is ultra-processed and ultra-salted hard cheese, so much that natural unsalted cheese seems bland. I personally am a sweet cheese guy, in desserts. I don't like pies with meat or salted cheese, just pies with sweet cheese :)

      Both countries have very good desserts, but some of them are an acquired taste. For example, the first time I tried the mousse de maracuja in Brazil, I didn't care for it, but now it's one of my favorite desserts. The tripe soop and the pork brain are also an acquired taste. While some ppl like them, many will find it weird and not touch it with a 10 foot pole. The better traditional Romanian food was not presented in this video. BTW, the Brazilian cuisine is actually more well known than Romanian cuisine outside of Europe, which makes sense given the size of the two countries.
