Village Food and Life in Transylvania, Romania - We had an amazingly special opportunity to spend a day in a local village in Transylvania, meeting amazing people, and learning about the delicious local food and life in Transylvania. #Transylvania #RomanianFood
Thank you to Caroline from Mihai Eminescu Trust for hosting us and for organising this experience.
Rooster soup and home cooked banquet - The main main was a home cooked rooster soup and banquet feast put on by an amazing community of women from this small, yet huge hearted, village in Transylvania. The food was cooked with so much love, and you could taste it in every bite.
Orchard’s Crunchy Pork - After riding a horse carriage to the top of a hill to get a view of the village and see the apple orchards, we enjoyed a Romanian Transylvanian picnic that included grilled pork fat skin.
Shepherd’s Lamb Stew and Polenta - This special shepherd’s lamb stew and polenta was incredible, the lamb fell off the bone with tenderness, and the polenta was rich and cheesy.
It was such an incredible day of Romanian food and learning about this incredible village in Transylvania.

This video is my favorite. I love listening to Romanian people speak. Brings back memories of going to Romania and traveling the entire country. There is so much green and there is so much food. Every house you go to they always feed you. It's like a feast. And the deserts there are incredible.

The whole Romanian series is a success, i was afraid that you will have a bad experience, with bad guides, but you've done a great, great job, showing the nice side of the country. When Bourdain was in visit, he had a Russian guide that didn't knew nothing about tradition. Thank you for the beautiful promotion of my country.

The entire village was at mark's feet trying to please him , and offering him their best dishes and their heart literally. Romania series is the best. The stars just aligned for these videos making the whole experience epic. I am proud of how everyone treted mark and his family .he is awesome and certainly deserves it. God bless you.

@@Vaniamoreira222 Just to clarify the way this works is that the Ministry of Tourism sponsors these cultural trips for journalists and influencers like Mark. Obviously these trips are planned beforehand and the ministry in cooperation with the villages and farms go through a lot of prep before he arrives but that's not to say that these experiences aren't authentic. These are very real villages, businesses, and working farms with very humble people that are willing to share so that people can get a greater understanding and so that they can come and visit to support these communities. So yeah even though these are planned visits the hospitality and warmth that Mark is experiencing is very real and I'm sure the villagers and farmers are very happy and proud that he is paying them a visit.

My most favorite videos of Mark are the ones where he goes to humble villages and show us the food and culture there. His capability to adapt to and respect each and every visit is so beautiful to watch. These Romanian series has to be one the best, if not the best in Marks travels. I like how the country has a contrast. In Transilvania its dairy and polenta, in the south its more Balcanic with lots of grilled vegetables and spreads. I didnt know that stuffed cabbage was a national dish. We also have it in Hungary, looks great with polenta. I can relate to the palinka as well :D

I'm very impressed with the entire Romania series. I never knew how interesting Romania is. It seems like a really natural, down to earth place, with such hearty, natural, delicious looking food. And the people seem so hospitable and fun loving. I would enjoy visiting there some day!
Being oppressed by the communist regime, we were forced to have a simple life and improvise. Unfortunately, many Saxons in Transylvania left their houses and there are some villages where the houses have collapsed. Luckily, there are some foundations who are trying to rebuild them and educate the locals to survive by turning their houses into guest houses and provide high quality services for tourists.
Of course you can go and discover these on your own but if you want the best experience in Transylvania, go with a local travel agency :) they know the best places

It is the most virgin place in Europe when it comes to culture, tradition, and just hospitality. I literally visit Romania every year for 1 month and I can never get enough.....people are so nice and the food is woauuu like back in the old days ....is a must visit place
I have never been to Romania so I would venture to say that it is the traditional rural Transylvanian hospitality that made me feel so refreshed while watching this video. The unspoiled contentment visibly projected from their faces is so heartwarming. Excellent video showcasing human kindness transcended through food.

there are lots of houses where people let you sleep in (some ask for money cuz we are poor) but you must come to visit Romania. notes: Bucharest is pretty expensive, so is Brasov, Sibiu, Cluj.

I’m Hungarian living in the US for many decades. I Transylvania cuisine is very similar to the Hungarian one. There is a huge population of Hungarians live there. I admire Mark’s enthusiasm for every detail, he is the best food taster I have ever seen. I wish I could taste all those delicious meals. I’m glad he had mentioned the Mangalitsa pig for it’s superior taste. I wish we could have them here in the US. The pork is tasteless in the country, the meat is dense, the longer you cook it the tougher it gets.

Huge difference. As europeans they don’t use many spices as you can see in video. Arab food use tons of condiments, if tou like them, it’s the best food on earth 100%, but if you don’t then you don’t get along with it.
But not the Ethiopian series.
The citizens of Romania are very humble and the food is outstanding love how they make bread and the chicken soup with noodles.
I wish I can go to Romania to experience their rich culture and hospitality and lots of food from their farm.they are self- sufficient I love Mark ..he eats a lot but has a skinny body. and so humble and respect the different cultures and very appreciative even the weird taste of food.lol..

@@rizzymay450 It's not that bad. It's just your flour it's trash, tooo much gluten, you put sugar in everything (WHY THE HELL THE BREAD HAS SUGAR), your poultry looks like a turkey, like everything it's overly processed, GMO enhanced so you can eat more and more and more.
You don't need any of those toxins.
For my first 1 month, if I tried to eat in US mostly west coast, what I ate home in Romania, while having the same live style, two meals, 1 hour gym, lots of water, I gained 3 kg, which is INSANE. Why is that because even if I used the same brand produce that I used home, the ones in US have 20 to 30% more calories !!
My family in northern makes polenta similar but with umidui which is a chicken stew. This is in northern Trentino.
That's why I'm learning to garden! It's not that hard, really! Also I bet you could find some local farmers and stuff around you. They usually give great deals!

I have seen your entire videos of travel for food. But this is the one which I noticed one of the finest hospitality of Romanian family of a village. The food and the rest they are making is so fantastic . The real home food from chicken to corn with honey. This is top class of how the Romanian people welcoming the foreign people. When you see this one particular video of Romanian that fits and fills automatically you have taken the food lively feel. Fantastic stuff and how natural harmony that is going in Romania. The ladies are so energetic and how fast they are making the food. Marvelous. I love to travel this transelvaniya in Romania. Superb. Romania este incredibila, zona Moldovei are multe de oferit, Delta dunarii, altele, Bucovina, Maramures, Tara Romaneasca si apoi vestul, Hunedoara, Portile de fier, Timisoara, Oradea. Mancare diferita in fiecare loc, dialecte si peisaje diferite. Cea mai complexa tara din Europa, de aceea multi o ravnesc🙃😀🤗are toate formele de relief si multe conationalitati. Va asteptam cu bratele deschise🤗🤗🤗sa ne cunoasteti si istoria, cultura, nu doar mancarea❤🙏
