Nissan wanted to use the fj20 turbo engine but didnt sell enough to the public to homologate it for use so they used the vg30e model as found in the us. Heavy and not that powerful but very reliable and great torque

I wonder if that 200SX had a turbo. The S12 for the North American markets had an available 1.8-liter CA18ET engine from 1984-86.
