What a beautiful model and conversion. Turned out really well. Lovely restrained weathering. The AK Real Colors seem to be spot on. Cheers as always from Australia.
@@ModelNerd From what I understand they have deleted a lot of the less popular paint colours, and reintroduced the 17ml dropper bottles in lieu of the glass jars.
Good afternoon Nerd, that was a truly excellent build and conversion, it came out absolutely outstanding, congratulations on a job very well done, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Top job done on the conversion, camo and weathering of this kit. Looking really terrific this side of the screen so it must be better in the display unit.
Wow mate! 👌 👏👏 What a beautiful conversion and model, built and finished to perfection. It looks like a stock model, which is wholly down to your skills as a modeller as I personally think that this conversion kit would not be for everybody. Proper model making right there! Love it mate! Congratulations on another fantastic build. Look forward to more from you. Regards Bobby
Thank you, Bobby - much appreciated. There were some challenges but to be fair I think anybody with a few kits under their belt could give it a good crack. The Blackbird resin was really top quality.
@@ModelNerd ah you're way too modest! I'm sure I could have a crack at it but not sure it would turn out half as good as yours! To be honest, I get as much pleasure seeing a modeller such as yourself building kits as I do building them myself. It's an art form, and we are all artist's. It's just another level of modelling. Thankyou for sharing mate, it's very much appreciated 👍
Quite a challenge but you nailed it. 👍🏻 This is what modelling is really about. And those Wing Leader reference books are really good. I should invest in some of them, especially those on my favourite aircraft. I look forward to more of these videos from you. Many thanks, I enjoyed this build of yours. 😊
Thank you mate - your support is much appreciated. I can't decide which Wingleader books to order! I have their Lancaster Specials one but they all look interesting :)
@@ModelNerd I have the same problem - if money was no object, I would get all the Wing Leader books. 😄 So, I am going to buy according to how much I like the aircraft being featured. That Lancaster Specials book is a must-have in my opinion.
The Lancaster scheme looks amazing on the Manchester,It is amazing How massive these things are,and after seeing one flying last year at the Victory Show (great event) it just blew me away.I think you done an amazing job,and great seeing you do another aircraft again.Great job Stu and hope all the aircraft from Duxford aren’t getting too annoying 😁
Thank you! The Stirling is even bigger than the Lancaster - and much further off the ground, too! Duxford airshow today - not much to see though as the cloud cover is quite low.
That’s sad, weather is looking better for tommorow though,so maybe you will get some views. And the Stirling after your description Sounds Like an absolute beast, good luck with all of your Projects!
It is indeed a big beefy boy for a two-engined bomber. It’s easy to forget that in light of later four-engined bombers. The model really expresses that sheer size and bulk somehow.
Stu, what an excellent video, your creative " surgical precision " is always amazing, in fact this build was a confidence builder as I continue to climb the hobby re-entry , because you highlighted several of the materials I'm using, based on your videos.. I'm still low on the learning curve for panel line and washes but getting there with lots of paint mules. So thanks for your videos. Cheers from the colonies, Bob.
@@ModelNerd we'll, something very scary for me, but I couldn't resist a great price on the 1/48 Revell JU 52/3m transport. It's a whopper not to mention the corrugated metal airframe will be a challenge for decals.. I still have my Lancaster radial and Merlin kits in the hanger waiting for the proper moment. One amazing kit I'd like to acquire is the 1/72 Space clipper Orion from 2001 Space Odyssey movie, kits are made by Moebius Model, but that is truly a dream requiring mortgage at around $200 USD :-). Cheers Bob
@@ModelNerd Thanks, I'll need it for sure, years ago I built the commemorative Monogram kit of the Ford Tri Motor Artic Expedition with the sled and dogs. I made a diorama out of white spackle and topped it off with baking soda, that part was not bad. The silver on the metal was not bad but I ended up with just one decal across the top of the wing. That was 1/72 scale. At 1/48 on the JU 52 I might have more flexibility but that's quite a way down stream.
Really good job! One that I'd like to do once my skills are up to it. I like to do the 'first and last' of a marque so I'd pair this with a Shackleton AEW.
@@ModelNerd Spitfire prototype to F.24 or Seafire F.47 is a big change. If done a No.1 Squadron RAF - from a 1914 balloon to 2024 Typhoon FGR.4. I'll be starting a chronology of 19 Squadron - about 14 aircraft from the Avro 504K to Hawk T.1. I like to have a story to the build.
Nice ! My all time favorite "What If" Bomber. If only those engines had worked properly. I've been debating for years grabbing the conversion kit and attempting this project. 😁
@@t55a2 Yeah, I could have worded that better. Imagine the Manchester using Bristol Centaurus or P&W R2800 motors. That would have made things very interesting......
Great video. Can you give some details on the wavy line camo? Is that some kind of sticky-backed graph paper, or did you pur double sided tape behind it before you made the cuts or??? I’ve never been able to pull that off that good! Thanks
Great build. I’ve got the Lancaster to do myself soon. Interested to know your tip about the black colour. Mixing black with NATO black. It does look spot on. Was this 50/50 mix or less black to nato black? Many thanks. Marc
This is an amazing build the Airfix kit is bad enough ; very warped seams are horrible nothing really fits . Added to that you had to match this to resin .
What a beautiful model and conversion. Turned out really well. Lovely restrained weathering. The AK Real Colors seem to be spot on. Cheers as always from Australia.
Thanks Stevie. They are good paints - although I believe they are being rebranded/re-formulated/possibly having their range changed somewhat.

Thank you. I'm very happy with it, but can't take all the credit as the conversion kit made things relatively easy:)
Simply WOW 🤩!!!
Thanks!

Superb work on the camo scheme
Thank you!
What a lovely looking kit converion! Well done😃👍

Great model, you were challenged! So were the crews of the Manchesters. The Vulture engines were fraught with problems.
Thank you. Yes, not an aircraft that exactly inspired confidence...

Haha!
Pardon my ignorance; but with the third fin, why not just trim the tab off the fin and glue it directly to the fuselage?
Lovely build regardless.
Yeah, I'm not sure why I didn't do that! Maybe I thought the connection wouldn't be strong enough. I can't remember now, to be honest :)
