      Why didnt you want the fill from the RHS? I thought fills are suppose to lift the hard shadows on the LHS? Thank you

    LOVE these on-set videos. Great to see how the pros set their shots and how they use lighting in real time. Keep them coming!

    This 'Adorama Presents Joe McNally' series was fantastic. Watching two Masters of Light working together was amazing. Thank you Mr. McNally and Mr. Norton.

    I have come across this series with Daniel and Joe by chance and I could not be more pleased that I did so. Your combined expertise, your enthusiasm, and your willingness to share all of it is greatly appreciated. I have watched, and bookmarked, them all and I will watch them all multiple times just to take in the mass of the instruction and guidance they offer. While I can never aspire to be anywhere nearly as good as either of you, you have shown me a way to enjoy what I do and to strive to do better in a way that is both fun and exciting. This series deserves much, much more exposure and I vow my limited abilities to share it forward. You guys are simply great! Thank you!

    It's always interesting to see how small changes in one or more lights can affect the shot. Great results, and Joe and Daniel are a pleasant combination to watch interact.

    Wow. That's what you get when you work with the Master Of The Game. These guys have such a high level of expertise and authority. It's a privilege to learn a few tricks from them.
    I love the light setting.
    The philosophy on how to get the best out of the circumstance.
    I love that grid on the octabox, giving directionality.

    Another great video. Fantastic to see the guys talking and explaining. Its a touch and feel, thing (with obvious huge amounts of skill) but also its something they build and dont appear to always get right first time. Gives us normal people hope!!!! I think the greatest "talent" is the one pressing the shutter release!!!! The Models are great though.

    When you shot a group wide at 24mm or less do you have to be careful to not get the subject too close to the edge to avoid distortion? Do you need to leave space open at the edges?

    Were you using a remote for the flash or how were you triggering that since you had the air remote? Thanks for the education!

    How was the nikon speedlight triggered with a profoto controller, without the speedlight being attached to one of the profoto controllers as well??? I would be grateful for your reply...

    • @jgflutterby
      @jgflutterby 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been able to use a Profoto air remote on camera and add a pocket wizard to the port on camera (not sure what it's called) and it works so I was wondering if he might have been using the SB5000 flash and the new mini usb remote.

    1. What is the main idea of the video?
    2. How would you use what you have learned in your own photo shoots?

  • @lcdchannel88
    @lcdchannel88 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the vid though I have seen some spectacular images from Joe McNally. I am slightly disappointed with the last image - If I had shot that images I would be reluctant to show it to my client. I guess the purpose of this vid is more technical than substance.

    It's always interesting to watch old photographers pull their hair out over problems that can easily be solved by stacking or other digital processing.

      what can I say, I, was born in 1958, I learned to take photos in the late 1970s and because analog prints had to be paid for, also the scrap ones because otherwise you couldn't see any photos to judge the results and at this point the model was gone, the set-up dismantled or the event over, you couldn't repeat anything to correct mistakes in most cases, but that's exactly why I can take the photos I want "out of the box" without much effort these days no matter with which camera and I`m only an ambitious hobby photographer.....and not an IT expert for digital postprocessing.....and now try to imagine what these "old photographers" like Joe and Daniel can realize "out of the box" just only with their experience and their knowledge about "real" photography.....photography begins long before you press the shutter, namely in your own ideas about what the final photo should look like and apparently not only for me this is a very exciting part and also a challenge in photography....and one of many reasons why I love photography
