Really nice overview of this machine - thanks! And to all the U.S. (and worldwide) viewers out there, she is in Canada so the price on this machine is $699 USD or $999 CAD.
Very informative video and a great looking machine! Do you plan to do a head to head video with this machine and the Sage Barista Express/Pro in the near future?
@@paulloren66 There's a solid comparison video between Philips and Sage/Breville (th-cam.com/video/tFVqWamK84I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6ndJTmyDgsSArEvt). In short, Sage remains the benchmark for Kitchenaid to beat....
Man I wish this video was out already, with Black Friday Sales, i'm leaning toward this machine right now (never thought I would have even thought of Kitchen Aid for an espresso machine), but I still wonder how it does against big brands (Breville Barista Express, Delonghi La specialista Arte Evo).
@@Yeremie18 It is solid vs them. Breville has years of sales behind it and some great innovation. But the build on this is pretty stellar with a 58mm portafilter, quiet grinder and all metal construction. As for longevity....tough to say but Kitchen Aid has put a lot of thought into this.
You certainly make machine look very interesting. After viewing, I had a look at the online owner manual. It makes no mention of regular cleaning. I am talking of weekly back flush cleaning which all espresso machine makers recommend. Do you know how to make a back flush cleaning of this machine ?
@@Grande79 the nice thing about combo units like this is the space saving - and looks cleaner on a counter space. Most ppl who go with an external grinder are big coffee afficianados that want 70 grind settings
@@dougheiser8187 for me sometimes I like to have a pot of coffee which the single machine can’t do. At least as far as I can tell there is no machine that will do a pot and also make espresso
Thank you for the review. i am deciding between this and the Smeg Manual Espresso Coffee Machine (now that are around the same price). Which one do you think is better ?
Tough call. Smeg is made with La Pavoni parts but Kitchen Aid has done a great job in adding some phenomenal features. If you like the look of Smeg you cant go wrong.
I just got this one to replace my old barista express. They are both great, so I would go with the one you like the look of better or that you can find the best deal on
Hmm... It depends now on how much work you want to put into making your coffee! The Breville Barista Express Impress has smart dosing system as well as the Impress Puck system, so it will require less thinking and work in the morning
@@Cyberdine.Systems.Model-101 Based on the various reviews I've read, the Kitchenaid is super quiet - quietest machine out there, while the Breville is a little simpler to use (with the built-in dosing/tamper system). Both seem to be able to make great espresso.
@dperreno aaaargh. Can't decide. They both have sale on at the moment. Kitchenaid is $100 less than the Breville. And then there's the kitchenaid semi auto without a grinder for $500 LESS THAN THE QUIET GRINDER VERSION. Does anybody know if THAT little unit makes lattes just as good?
Just seeing the smooth grinds flow into the portafilter was impressive. At this price point? Wow. I would’ve like a bit more info on how is grinder adjustment for dialing in, and group head heating time. I’m guessing similar to other thermoblock like BBE
We did have too much coffee in the porta filter, so good catch! Unfortunatley we had some footage corrupt when shooting this video. So we used one of the other takes where we ground too much coffee for the close up shot. However, the close up of the pour was from a properly portioned shot :)
Oracle Jet can help assist you dial in your coffee but you pay a large premium for that work. Ninja's espresso machine competes with the Jet at less than half the price but may not be styled as many want it. The closest Breville might be the Express or even Express Impress
I got mine in stainless and I absolutely love it. If you’re on the fence, jump. It really is that good. Find it on sale and it’s unbeatable.

What do you mean with tamper upgrade? Is there a funnel for the kitchenaid? What is the temperature of the coffee?
Hi there. How much plastic does the water/espresso encounter during hot brew time?
Very impressive espresso machine, nice looking, fun and informative video, nicely done.
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words.
What glass did you use?

This machine does not require backflushing
So no 3 way solenoid valve ? Just like Philips is also missing . Are you getting wet pucks ?
Does it make regular coffee?
You could make an americano - pull a shot then add hot water to it. This will get a similar output/flavour to a drip coffee

Timer
Does it tell you when drip tray is full or water tank is empty? Because the old model did not.
Yes it has a float that indicates when to empty it
@@dougheiser8187 but it does not stop and tell you like a full automatic?

In theory yes. Although we have not tried

Looks like Kitchen Aid *may* have just dethroned Cuisinart’s Barista Express.
