    Super video Phillip. I played today in poor conditions. It had drizzled all night and the ground was saturated. It was drizzling for most of the round. Even though I was wearing rain gloves. I felt like the club would slip out of my hands. I was squeezing the club so tight all day that half way through the round my lower back was hurting. I played miserably. Tension is the biggest killer of a golf swing. I had no flow and my rhythm and tempo suffered. Wish I had stayed in bed this morning, lol. Tomorrow is a new day! Thanks for the tension free reminder!

    I remember not too long ago at the driving range, all my iron shots were going everywhere except sheets that should bs doing. I sent for a swig of water and came back and just hit the ball - no proper address, just a quick glance I’d where I wanted to hit it…boom - just by swinging the club at the ball, I hit the best and easiest shot that I have probably ever hit.
    No thinking or complications - just a “Sod it” attitude and I do that. Obviously there was no tension - just a natural see ball…hit ball - food for thought.

    went instantly to the driving range after seeing this video. Having some problems with my back this seems to be a good way to spare it as much as possible. I noticed no difference in height or length with my pw, iron 8 or hybrid, with which I had the try out. Best was I could hit 50 balls without pain. Thanks Philip.

    Great tip and video thanks. As a new golfer with lower back issues, this instruction is invaluable. My circle of lady golfers have had the 'straight left arm' drummed into us! I'm happy that I'm hitting the ball straight, tbh 😂 but I will try this now.

      I have always been interested in the fact that the vast majority of women take instruction from male golfers who try to get them to do the things they perceive they are doing wrong themselves! Surely a better starting point would be - what type of swing would suit a female golfer better?

    Excellent video Phil on comparing a straight left arm and a slightly relaxed left arm in the golf swing. It appeared that with the relaxed left arm the ball trajectory was a little lower and is probably why it gained extra yards. In any event, it's worth trying and will do so this week and let you know the results. Well Done Phil!

    • @Easiestswing
      @Easiestswing  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thinning is usually a sign of latent tension in the through swing. A lazier action with softer hands and arms will normally resolve it. Failing that you may need your clubs extending 1/4” or 1/2”

  • @jamespark3399

    Enjoying your videos as always. A question I have is that your shoulder turn looks fairly level. Many teachers are promoting a fair amount of shoulder tilt in the backswing. Perhaps it’s just the camera angle? Many thanks 😊

    • @Easiestswing
      @Easiestswing  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Good question - this is a generalisation but more spinal tilt is often difficult for senior golfers and anyone with back issues. As most of our followers and coaches are from this group we normally encourage a flatter turn due to a more upright posture. It puts less strain on the spine.

    i really enjoy your stuff which to me is very logical way to play.i found wild bill teachings before yours.one thing i notice from your videos seem to show you with club in centre of stance(like another great teacher man del la torre)but wild bill advocates playing everything off left heel?

    • @Easiestswing
      @Easiestswing  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Glad you are enjoying our channel David. I think if you have a very grooved inside attack then left heel is ok for all clubs so some tour players prefer this. But average players usually end up swinging out to in with the ball in that position for all clubs. So both systems work but it is an individual choice.

  • @Valvey789
    @Valvey789 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

    If the upper body twists ('shoulder turn') the left arm has to rotate clockwise to keep the club on plane and the right elbow pointing down. A straight left arm is part of this move. So if you can learn to pivot without twisting you can let the left elbow bend naturally.

    I am right hand dominant and i flip a lot. I am 81 yrs. old but want to continue. slow and weak--diagnosed with multiple myeloma two years ago. driver swing speed 70 mph. have lost a few mph due to not playing or exercising last six months. just ordered hole in one. embarking on a new commitment. i think my lead arm is coming up. should i try and keep it somewhat straight through impact?Thx. Harley. p.s. 5ft.11in. 180 lbs. slender.

    • @Easiestswing
      @Easiestswing  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Harley I hope to answer both queries in one here. No I do not try to be lead arm dominant and I definitely do not try to straighten my lead arm through impact. If you read Bill Mehlhorn he said he used to tie a rope from the club to his left shoulder and hit shots with his right hand only. He soon discovered that the rope straightened naturally through impact. This suggests that the lead arm can be flexible and relaxed through the hitting zone. If you are flipping this suggests too much effort and or a restriction around impact (could be lack of footwork or keeping head down too long). We have a video coming out in the next fortnight on a similar topic I hope you will find interesting. I hope that proves useful and helps you get back on track. Good luck with your health too. 👍

      My problem was I developed a hook over time and from watching other videos I realized I was turning my hands/wrist in the back swing which made me turn the face on impact.
      Maybe this is something you could talk about, keep the hands quiet.

  • @DASH1ful
    @DASH1ful 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Well when the club is at max left, in the backswing, the left wrist should be pushing back. If it isn't pushing back; and the left arm is straight, it is in a superficially straight postion. Left shoulder joint extension is key to a straight left arm. And, again, if the left arm is straight; and, there is no left shoulder joint extension, the arm will be in a superficially straight position. And, as you say, the shoulder has to hang loose. Swing back slowly; and, when your club is max left, keep pushing back with your left wrist joint; and you will feel your left shoulder joint extend in its socket; and, this will, also, pull the left side of your head down. Both Jones and Hogan kept pushing back, with their wrist joint, at the top of their backswing, even though it couldn't push back any further. The natural forces then fuse the hands together. Both Jones and Hogan then fully fused their hands together by pressing their left hand against their right hand, to trigger their downswing. This is why you see Jones' clubface toe down in the transition. Hogan, too; but, not to the same extent.

      We like to keep it simple too!

    • @DASH1ful
      @DASH1ful 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Easiestswing Yes; and, the simple fact is that the left arm should be fully extended at the top of the backswing. My comment was not for the viewer, it was for you. I just simply tried to explain to you how the arm extends in the swing, if you allow it to. In the first golf book ever written Willie Park Jnr Tells us that "in the backswing we should definitely swing back". But, unfortunately our knowledge of the game is not as broad as it was back then.
