Wow! This has really changed my perspective. I have a brother who’s abusive verbally and goes in and out of my life. I haven’t spoken to him in about 2 years because I’m trying to protect myself. This has helped me see him differently. While I will be careful with any future relationship with him, it’s helped me at least reach out again in love to him. It may backfire and I’m prepared for that. I love him dearly. ❤

I am so grateful to hear this talk. As a therapy who has tried to put into words how I feel. Many times I've tried to let others know that I love to work and learn from this most different than me because I learn from them and grow in learning about Christ's love. I love this concept of the iron rod because I do hang on tight wit th my piece of it so I can love others who dont even know about His love. Thanks so much for sending this message. Now I need to bring this language to my own home more fully

I appreciate what she is trying to say at around the 22:00 mark regarding the temple recommend questions.
However, question six addresses what she's turned question seven into. The key words in question seven are regarding teaching, practices, and doctrines that are contrary or not in-line with the church. We can still love others and also recognize that we don't have to support their life choices and actions that aren't in-line with the Gospel. There is a line in the sand being drawn by question seven; it is up to each member to interpret, for themselves, where that line is and what it means to be able to answer that question and be temple worthy.

A lot of wickedness is done in the name of "love." I think it's important to be careful that if someone sees the question like she does, they need to recognize wickedness for what it is not what the world tries to make it out to be.

Regarding the lost sheep: Be gentle on us, the run-of-the- mill members. We rarely try to drive anyone away but are probably hanging in there the best we can, having suffered our own injuries. I'm tired of the accusations about not being good enough, accepting enough. Most of us are doing the best we can.

Jesus had faith in us before he came here. What a thought. He trusted that we would follow him. The iron rod is Christ. The word of God. His name is “word” you’re holding to the word who is Christ. Why iron? I asked that. Many answers. The opposite of fear isn’t faith it is Charity. Iron makes the strongest swords, lack of iron you lose your sight. So much more from asking our Father questions through Christ. The Prophet Nelson has said make an appointment with the lord. He will bring us a miracle he knows we need. That happened for me. I never thought this way before. I always thought you obey the commandment out of love only, not because you except something back. Doing both is is not bad, in my experience.Guess what? The Lords promise through his Prophet was fulfilled by obeying and expecting that the promise would be fulfilled. We don’t have to wait for Christ to save our children. He already has. In my opinion, that truth and joy will bring the love that Christ has for us. Does he love us? Has he won? Remember his hands.

It's really hard to explain the truth with someone who doesn't understand the reason for the true doctrine and how they fit into God's plan

How do we get through the path with gays and transgender people? I love my niece who is a lesbian, but how do we share the truth of the Family Proclamation of the family, without making them feel judged, even if we don't verbally say anything, they feel like outside of the acceptance realm of doctrine.

I am not sure if your definition of "transactional" is clear. I get loving but "transactionally" shifting our paradigm is a process, but how do we find that path.

Sister Young’s take on the Temple recommend is completely incorrect. That is a dangerous teaching.

I think the intent of the speakers was to invite us to be in the world and not of the world. Honestly, I don't know any members who self-ostracize or don't engage with those around them, regardless of religion. I think what they were sharing was a good invitation, but also a tired-out trope regarding our members.

I thought of my Dear Departed mother who I love so much when this statement was made. I think she was a little overwhelmed taking care of 6 kids And would often be at the temple when we really needed her at home. So maybe moderation in all things, Even good things. I also think we need to be mindful of all of our neighbors, not just the ones that are members. We don't need to hide or isolate from those who think differently. I Liked Steve's comment about loving his children and being an example to them.. That's exactly what we can do for our neighbors as well. Love them where they're at, Just like Christ. 💞
