Imagine moving through the space in your spaceship, falling asleep to the beautiful view and dreaming about something on Earth, then waking up like "It's okay... I am in the space."
I really like this new (for me and many people for sure) perspective, we never really think this way about cosmos, because it is unsettling and scary, but i find something beautiful in it at the same time. Yes, maybe we would see nothing in an intergalactic space, but in the end, it is only because of our eyes. Lets just pretend that we can manually adjust the range of EM-waves that our eyes can detect from the tiny 390 - 700 nm to almost infinitly wide range, than the space between the galaxies will be just filled with light and it would be as bright as (you might even say) heaven, you will probably go blind right away.
Ugh 😬 i have vivid nightmares i used to have a kid of being in a place like that.. just complete darkness and openness. Made my heart pound a bit watching this.
Wow, that was a really amazing perspective. As a fan of this kind of stuff, I'm surprised I've never pondered that or heard anyone else mention that. Did you read this somewhere or did you come up with the idea on your own (although I'm sure someone else has thought of it)? Great video!!
There’s never just nothing. There’s just a lot we can’t see with our naked eye and it LOOKS like there’s nothing. Like air, we can’t really see air but we know it’s there & so on with radio waves, electricity, radio waves etc. It just looks dark and empty, like space
Such a good point. What we can't see with our eyes, or with the technology we've developed, doesn't exist to us. That doesn't mean there's nothing there.
We can't see air, yet we can feel it's very close when we breath or feel a breeze, and it doesn't take long for that to happen. Now, imagine spending millions of years travelling at the highest possible speed in the universe without seeing anything at all without a device. When you'd take off your goggles, it'd finally hit you how we truly live inside of infinite nothingness.
Can you imagine if that is what happens when we die, that we simply just die and then nothing...we don't have a spirit anymore and it's just blackness.
Negative. Our souls will either go to heaven or hell. We have to accept jesus christ as our savior to we can love in heaven for eternity. After this life will be the 2nd life.
Only proof is what the bible says. I can't prove I can only share what I've learned or believe. After this life we will all be judged accordingly. But I rather live it correctly than incorrectly and find out the hard way
@@michaellivingston8015 I doubt that god is real. Religion was created as a way for early human beings to control the masses and create a sense of belonging. Look at how much death, destruction and unhappiness that religion has caused. And look at the amount of excuses countries have made in the name of religion through the centuries i.e mass killing, slavery and conquering. There is no way I would want to be part of something like that, wether I answer for it later or not, I would prefer not to associate myself with such a thing whilst I am alive.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't lights velocity the fastest thing in the universe? How is possible for our galaxy to be moving 1,000,000x's the speed of light. That statement contradicts hubble's observations on the red wavelengths on distant galaxies.
If your ninja skills are as good as your explanation of expanding space, then my grandma could kick your ass easily...and she died 10 years ago...actually, a fight with you would bring her back to life!
Joy Lop3z I thought that was wrong too.... But it's made me think. The universe is expanding at one hell of a pace... If the universe is a medium and light moves through it, then could it be possible the medium can expand at a higher speed than the speed of light? It's maybe a warping of space time due to accelerating inflation?
Absolutely insane just how big the universe is. Scary how much empty dark space is out there. Massive voids with absolutely nothing in them. I'm just going to get a cup of tea and watch something on tv to cheer myself up.
There are a lot of galaxies closer to us than Andromeda, we don't see them all because some are too small, but we do see Magellanic Clouds for instance, which are just 1 or 2 Milky Way lengths from us
This is actually to much for me. When I start thinking about the incredible vastness and emptiness of space and how much we are unaware of it just makes me panic.
I've watched many hours of your videos before... This blew my mind! I especially enjoy the edited narration. Good work! If i could name an item, may I name your next video "SpaceJam"
COYADD But there is something in a vacuum (even the vacuum of space), it is not just nothing. Even if you don't notice it there are little specs of gas and dust and the occasional stray atom or molecule of something. There is something everywhere, even if you can't see it. I'm not even counting radiation and what not, which is still something and exists literally everywhere in the observable universe... you're being bombarded with it right now. "Nothing" is only a fictitious concept.
Cruiser052 Well technically it's impossible to create a true vacuum, but that would be one version of nothing: nothingness IN our Universe. Nothingness could arguably exist outside the Universe, something which it is expanding into. Of course There is othing outside the Universe, the Universe just creates space as it expands, so it could be said that "nothing" truly exists outside the Universe.
see this would suck. because the whole reason i like space and the thought of space travel so much is the opportunity of seeing beautiful sights. like i want to have a spaceship and have my captains (yea that's right im the boss) quarters have a big window so i could look out at beautiful scenes as i fall asleep. but this ruins the allure of it all

Since few years, as I studied about Astronomy and Astrophysics, I always thought that darkness aka "blackness" it may seem obvious but when it hits as eternal, it really gives terrific shock to my brain! Even gigantic galaxies and clusters of galaxies ( like hercules filaments) are super huge... But after all, everywhere, darkness is omnipresent... P.S. I really like your video content and your way of explanation with great simulations!
flobba123 the human eye isn't all that capable. Although there is some sort of energy or light that does reach us, we won't sense it the way powerful telescopes can.
flobba123 You can barely see Andromeda with the naked eye, and only then it's a faint blurry blob. It's only 25 Milky Way Galaxies away, practically on top of our Galaxy in an astronomical sense. You can't see the other galaxies with the Naked eye. If you managed to move away from our cluster, you'd see our galaxy as the sole thing in the "sky" until it diminished into nothing. Then eons would pass before you saw something else.
flobba123 Because 99.99% of the Stars you are able to see with the naked eye are *in* our Galaxy. Astronomically, they are practically in the same spot. If you are moving away from the galaxy you are not entering an area of free roaming stars wandering without galaxies, but a black seemingly endless empty expanse completely devoid of stars. The only light you'll see will be from the galactic cluster which make up the Milky Way/Andromeda system as it slowly fades into nothingness. Your eyes can't see into deep space on their own. You simply lack the ability to pick up light from that far away. Hell, the galactic center can only be seen in the darkest of nights, and even then it's still faint.
its not about faintness, its about frequency. The light from galaxies and stars beyond our local cluster isn't too "dim" for our eyes, its too red shifted. The farther the source of light is from us, the faster its moving away via cosmic expansion. The frequency of distant light is stretched into the infrared and by the time it reached your eyes, its often no longer in the frequency of the visible spectrum.
It scares me like there is nothing and 99% is nothing.😳😳😳😳 🤔🤔🤔🤔. I dont think that nothing means that doesn't exist. They have to be something which cannot be perceived by senses. I dont think everything is human centric.
Ajay Kumar Singh so this video is about being in void...the area which is between galaxy superclusters... I think it is about how it would look like from outside earth...
I wouldn't think there would be stars outside of galaxy's unless they where thrown from there orbit by like a black hole or Galaxys colliding etc but yeah space is super big alots of nothing but from right out of our orbit we can see a little better of the same Stars and Constellations because we wouldn't have the earths atmosphere interfering.
Space looks like this to us, because our eyes are trained to observe only visual light. If our eyes were able to register other frequencies on the electromagnetic spectrum, space would look completely different. Say if our eyes could see gamma-rays.
Well Religion is mam made you are correct. But loving God doesn't mean to go to that extreme you know. People for some reason go crazy and go to that extreme. There is a way to love God without being violent and using religion like so many do. But the only reason I know he is real is because I am a fan of outer space. There is no way all this made it self. Also the reason God is far away, also the reason outer space is so empty and infinite in a way is because God doesn't like the same things you just described so he seperated himself from the evil of this planet and thats why he is far away. Most things we will never have the answers to, but the evil here isn't God's fault.

It's like walking in on a special ed class
Maps Tracking the first time I read TH-cam comments all I use to see was people arguing and that was it. it was so depressing and annoying. It has gotten alot better believe it or not lol
It looks like someone forced them to whatch it and they be like its fake what do you mean dark i see the moon braa
@Max fr
When i was a child i used to have this reoccurring nightmare where i was in a empty room and the thought was so scary i awoke in chills well this video just reminded me of that moment, what we need is a stargate
Mind. Absolutely. Blown. I never knew that (that) could be the case. I thought no matter where
a human could go we'd always see something! to think that beyond the Milky Way & Andromeda
there might as well be nothing is incredible. Space To Me Is Incredible! I love it.
Once I saw the title, I expected to hear Michael from VSauce's voice. Once I heard Spum I was like "Dafuuuuuuq?!"
Well, I'm glad Spum doesn't pause towards the end of every sentence.
Jesse Cohen Hahahaha that is totally true
true story - expected vsauce ^^
Ha, I actually expected to hear Hank Green of SciShow and SciShow Space.
good to know Michael is so instantly brought to mind though.
Vsauce, SciShow, Sexplanations, and Vertiasium are possibly the best channels on youtube.
I honestly expected to hear something along the lines of Scott Manley or some odd thing like that come on and talk about space, but VSauce works too.
I vaguely googled "how dark is space" found this, and got my answer. Thanks!
Of course most of space is just nothingness...That's why it's called "SPACE"!!
sounds really awesome
Yeah, but you think you can always see stars in the background anywhere in space. Didnt know the majority of it is just empty blackness...zero light from any source.
Captain obvious. 😑
But where did the black “space” come from
And this is why we feel so alone as a species. Aside from our own Galaxy' intelligent life exists in others but we will never make contact with them...the distance is just too vast.
See it makes more sense when you think about God 😊
I feel like god made it impossible for us to see other life out there
Or maybe we think we are intelligent but we are really not intelligent enough to find them...we just think we are intelligent but we are really dumbshits and aliens are passing by us laughing. It is funny to think.
@@Angelica-zr2tm True, but even the most simplistic of lifeforms on earth can acknowledge our presence even though they don't know what we are. Perhaps the every day things that we see with our Hubble telescope is something actually extraterrestrial. Who knows? 🤷♂️
What I DO know, is that the goobers at oxford university crowing that they have the fermi paradox debunked because they can half-ass crunch some numbers need to seriously sit in the corner because they are SO, so wrong.
Do you have any idea how many stars planets are in our galaxy alone, and then in Andromena right next to us? Hundreds of billions. No need to feel alone and the distance isnt too vast.
I'm still scared that one of these videos is going to end with a cheap scare.
GregroxMun first video I ever seen of this channel today and I thought the exact same thing haha
but they don't.
they end with an *expensive* scare
this is called a "galactic void" and this is what separates the scattered groups and clusters of galaxies . while also allowing some telescopes to see very far into the past
as much of a let down as it is for visual astronomy . . . it also turns observatories into "time machines", whitch is pretty cool
emptinesssshss... spacsscesse.
Yes! You are correct .... it's because we are so so so tiny in this universe, we are like nothing, not even a dust particle size , that's why we will feel empty space if we travel through space,.
Please make more videos like this, I really like them, and they could be the type that really helps you channel grow, if you want it to. It's stuff like this, and the death clock, and the mining earth stuff that we like
what a neat concept. it's rare for me to find a video that opens new perspectives on space for me. keep it up!
We are probably not the only life form in space...I find that hard to believe..but I think the other life forms may be totally different than what we are anticipating. I sure would like to see one.
When I die Ima just travel out of space to see what it's like then I'll go to heaven..
cristal tran I think that's why God created all of space. since eternity is how we will live supposedly. space is definitely endless. Maybe it's for us to explore once we pass
How do you know there is a heaven or hell? Or a god for that matter? This is a science topic, not a religious one.
cristal tran carry me with you please
You'll need an E ticket for that ride!
SkepticalJ read the Bible case closed sir .
Damn space..u scary!
Ikr
Family guy! 🤣
If you travel to space even for a month without any light from the outside. you could go crazy in less than a week. Think of it traveling nowhere in the dark
Man, old Spumwack was the best
come back to me c':
Imagine moving through the space in your spaceship, falling asleep to the beautiful view and dreaming about something on Earth, then waking up like "It's okay... I am in the space."
It's awesome see the space in black and sudden blinking stars superb🙂
What an incredible world You’ve made, God
AMEN🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The truth is out there
Juan Pablo Genetti u think so
4real
Juan Pablo Genetti has to be man its so mindfuckin
Mindfucking and scary, imagine getting lost between galaxies
Juan Pablo Genetti r u into psychedelics
We're not alone. Space is so infinite that chaos warrants other life way beyond our reach. Well never see them and they won't see us. Ever!
Goosebumps all over me!
I wonder what space would look like if we somehow figured out a way to light up our entire galaxy with a giant flash light
Your exactly right. With Neuralink, who knows the possibilities
Love these videos! I hope they go viral.
Also, your voice is so deep in these
How does this guy not have more subs
Denver Brown because what he is saying is a total crock of SHIT!!! Baffles me that people buy this shit! Smh
What exactly should people be buying then?
Greg, it's OK to be scared. It's natural. Don't bottle it up.
Chirag, stop talking shite.
@@gregallen1 what the fuck are you talking about
Ugh 😬 i have vivid nightmares i used to have a kid of being in a place like that.. just complete darkness and openness.
Space is probably the scariest space
I knew that.
*And that is the reason why humans have never seen a black hole*
Now we can say....yes
Yeah now this statement is wrong 😊
Welp...modern problem requires modern solution
@@michaellivingston8015 Prove it.
Watching in 2020, This was explained so perfectly . Well done !
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't lights velocity the fastest thing in the universe? How is possible for our galaxy to be moving 1,000,000x's the speed of light. That statement contradicts hubble's observations on the red wavelengths on distant galaxies.
Also means we're time travelers. I literally skipped back to verify that the narrator said that.
He was talking about the point of view of the video simulation moving, not the Milky Way.
+Ninja Reflexess bro that made no sense
This makes me sad I dunno why.. i always imagined space full of stars ✨ ⭐️ ✨ 🌟 💫 and now this image is ruined 💔😢
Space is a perfect space for meditation !
That's why they call it space.
There are a lot of galaxies closer to us than Andromeda, we don't see them all because some are too small, but we do see Magellanic Clouds for instance, which are just 1 or 2 Milky Way lengths from us
SuperAngelofglory this is absolutely correct.
Do a video on what is "nothing" because "nothing" doesnt exist because nothing means no single thing is there
That's called a vacuum. There are those. When he said "nothing" he meant it.
***** Say you said theres nothing there or something like that, but there is something there. Air. Particles. Cells. Atoms all that stuff.
COYADD A total vacuum is physically impossible
To be honest I prefer these science sort of videos once in a while, Nice idea Spum, Keep up the good work
Wow, this video was very dark
ba dm tsssss
These videos are just the coolest, I admire the passion you have for making videos :)
see this would suck. because the whole reason i like space and the thought of space travel so much is the opportunity of seeing beautiful sights. like i want to have a spaceship and have my captains (yea that's right im the boss) quarters have a big window so i could look out at beautiful scenes as i fall asleep. but this ruins the allure of it all
you shouldve known that people would milk sci fi movies for all that they are worth. space is space. it doesnt care about an insignificant tiny planet.
planet?
see at this point im just hoping to be transported into the star wars universe
Then you realize u would develop cancer from the hellish radiation exposure
Great work, well done Spum :) I love it!
can we keep going up
THIS is the truth most people don’t know.
Hello darkness my old friend...
one of the best space ratio explanation i ve seen, just its scary enough to be place in such emptiness
I wonder why most girls wants space.
u still wonder
Bert Sesame lmao
i do not get the joke
Yeah they always want black people.
the space is a star, they love stars.
Thats so sad.. here we are with a whole Universe to explore, but we cant even come close to exploring even 1% of it.
When George W was announcing his Moon and Mars plans with "Mankind is heading out to explore the universe", it was like the universe was a country and he was announcing a very expensive and difficult future mission to the front yard.
Spum you should upload these kinds of videos twice a month. I can speak for others when I say I look forward to see these fascinating videos. I like your other videos too
Now I feel like I could walk to Alpha Centauri like its a stop for smokes.
so how do we have pictures of other galaxies and other stars and exoplanets etc?
we do lol
F5Storm1 we prove the existence of objects like that based on how to effect the light of their star. it's why stars twinkle their satellites go in front of the star and block the light
we use telescope
F5Storm1 good point. Aparantly we went to the moon in 1969 and projected signals all the way to earth with no delay. But in 2018 im still getting bad phone signal.
Jimiih what from a telescope that’s been orbiting the earth since early 90’s? Let’s be honest nasa puts out images that are questionable.
Is it just me or does spum's voice get very deep when he does these science videos??
that simulation from space looks so amazing & real ;:3
imagine being alone in space lost
And then you hear something crawling in the ventilation
I whould just grab a weapon if they have one and kill myself.
Just imagine being in a void thats pitch black.
U can travel for a million years and it's all emptiness !! How scary that sounds 😢
ummm why cant you see anything? if the light from stars and galaxires have reached your point in space you should see them
flobba123 the human eye isn't all that capable. Although there is some sort of energy or light that does reach us, we won't sense it the way powerful telescopes can.
flobba123
You can barely see Andromeda with the naked eye, and only then it's a faint blurry blob. Then eons would pass before you saw something else.
im not talking about only galaxies im talking about stars aswell you can always see stars from our galaxy
flobba123
Because 99.99% of the Stars you are able to see with the naked eye are *in* our Galaxy.
This now answers my question of why haven't we discovered lots of planets and interesting features out thea. We might be alone here .
or because of how long it takes to get from one place to another
Move along. Nothing to see here.
Dene. F. Literally.
@@FloatingOnCloudNein congratulations, that's the joke!
I love these science vids! Keep them going!
It scares me like there is nothing and 99% is nothing.😳😳😳😳 🤔🤔🤔🤔. I dont think that nothing means that doesn't exist. They have to be something which cannot be perceived by senses. I dont think everything is human centric.
“All our fiction has taken place in our one galaxy”
Star Wars - “a long time ago in a galaxy far far away”
Then how come we see stars from earth?
Because we are still inside our Galaxy.
From outside it's just black.
_" so this video is about being in void...the area which is between galaxy superclusters..."_
Correct.
These videos are really interesting. Keep up the good work!
you made this in space engine didn't you?
That´s just really scary, trying to grasp it and knowing you are guaranteed to fail miserably...
A lot of incorrect physics here lads!
then point into the right direction..
Imagine being in pitch darkness. And can’t tell if you’re upside down
Mass Effect Andromeda disproved the thing you stated at the beginning of this vid
Good explaining 👌 👍
space sucks.
indeed..as it is a vacuum...
I honestly never thought it would be that empty through our own eyes. Damn
