Yeah, well that’s the $1000-$1200 question. The retort is, “given the Windowy nature and the way the OS comes to the surface on the...Surface, will this be possible?” I’m sticking with the Pencil/iPad Pro: for me*, it’s the closest thing to real drawing with all the benefits of digital.
John Date (I’m still Cassandra this is a different account) i don’t 100% understand what you mean but i found that i liked the surface pen more. Along with the eraser it has multiple nib options and i believe the most recent one has more sensitivity to pressure though that’s one thing I have to double check. However I haven’t used the surface pro 7, i use the Surface Book 2 which is said to have better graphics and more touch points than other surface tablets so I could be speaking from a different experience
Okay, so I've been watching your vids for over a year now, and this video has finally helped me decide my next upgrade... I need an Ipad pro for drawing on the go, a Surface pro for at home, but also an XP-Pen connectable tablet for screen variety, and a Wacom Studio Pro for accuracy. Throw in a huion as a 3rd monitor, if I'm being honest (can't have too many monitors, and a pen-compatible one is a huge bonus), 3 extra Apple pencils (never know when one might dissapear!!!), a gallon of coffee, several overtime shifts at work, and and a few more credit cards to go into debt with.
Are you sure a setup with graphic tablets of 3 different brands is not going to give you driver issues? I heard people having trouble with drivers when switching devices, because they forgot to uninstall their previois device's driver. Having 3 drivers at the same time? Not sure if that works out.
LOL, no need for credit card debt. All you need is a small investment in an iPad Pro 12.9 with a min, of 250gb and you are golden. After purchasing my iPad two months ago, I have not touched my Cintiq, I got rid of all my monitors and only have One 4k monitor for design work.
@@Balala_ Thats what I was worried about when I purchased an XP-Pro Pen last year. If it was going to interfere with my Wacom Drivers. But no, as long as i dont have both connected at the same time, they work fine. but you have to boot up the PC with whatever tablet you want to use first, and if you are going to switch, you have to disconnect it and connect the other one and boot again.
for those of you jumping between apple and microsoft I'd say one thing: Avoid Brand Loyalty. Every brand puts their unique twist on the product and every artist takes something from their product in their own way. So its best to look at the specs, see the reviews and ask yourself "is that going to help me do what i do best.. even better?" Eg I moved from wacom intuos to a chuwi hi13, then to xp-pen artist 12 (which i love) and now im looking into a huion kamvas pro.. simple reasons for so many brand shifts? because who made it didnt matter to me - what i could do on it did, and with the exception of Chuwi (sorry chuwi, but unless you exclusively use clip studio, and always need to jumpstart bios to boot, your tablets suck) everything helped me elevate my artwork :). I am considering a possible apple changeover in the future, but at this point, I feel its better suited to illsutrators than matte painters and animators like myself. Anyways thats my 2 cents, take it or leave it as u wish ^_^
Well I just need a proper operating system to work with, not just rearranging Excel sheets. Since most universities and companies are too stupid to fully integrate Linux into their networks and usual processes/flows there is no choice...
Facts. Take what's works best for you, take important aspects that matter to you into consideration and go for it. Switching isn't as hard as people think.
I can't see an ipad ever becoming a laptop / desktop replacement unless it can run the same desktop apps. If it has to have it's own apps, then it will always remain a secondary device. Now yes, some will find or make a way for it to work, but for the majority, it' a showstopper.
ipad isn't supposed to be a desktop/laptop replacement. I also wouldn't say its a secondary device. Its a complementary device within the apple lineup. Macbooks are good for heavier tasks and ipad is good for tablet based tasks. I had a surface pro as an all in one solution; the problem with this is that it sucks in ways that pure tablets or laptops wouldn't. For example, I hated the fold out stand since its not stable, and prefer laptops that are held in place by a hinge. similarly, the os isn't as friendly to touch gestures as the ipad, in my opinion.
Apple is pushing the iPad Pro to be more of a laptop replacement. It does work for some people and will continue to improve over the years. Every year we are getting away from the traditional computing model and moving more towards apps and better mobile architecture. Let's hope one day the decision between a regular laptop and a tablet will be clear.
@@jbravo300 that's literally their marketing. And it just falls flat. The ipad pro is for people heavily invested in apple products already. Otherwise it's a big mistake.
I'm a diehard Surface Pro user and I love my Surface Pro 7. I have the i7 with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. It's the machine that can do it all and it's this versatility that keeps me in the Surface Pro line. I can run ancient 20 year old software for work, I can crunch my Excel spreadsheets, I can write software in Visual Studio 2019. I can do my Adobe InDesign and Acrobat documents, I can edit photos in Lightroom and Photoshop, I can edit audio in Adobe Audition, I can do light video editing, and I can sketch in Clip Studio Paint and Adobe Illustrator. Heck, I can play VR games with it! when I bring over a SP7 with a VR headset to someone's house, it blows their mind how such a small computer can run a VR headset. I can't imagine going back to a regular laptop. Sure, lots of laptops give bigger screens and more bang for buck but none of them can do what the Surface Pro can do. I do wish that more Windows software were designed for touch. That's the greatest deficiency of Windows. Clip Studio Paint is one of the better touch apps. Photoshop has an awful touch interface.
@Stargate traveler His configuration of the Surface Pro costs $1,499.99 according to the Microsoft Store. That's just for the tablet. Want a keyboard cover to go with it? That's another $129.99. Want the Surface Pen? Add another $79.99.
Andrew Young well. With that money he’s buying a decent windows laptop and a touchscreen tablet (with a OS that pathetically was never designed for the touchscreen). But i guess it’s worth it. It really all depends on the persons needs and see if the device could meet all those. Basically, I really missed some functionalities on the surface pro when I switched to an iPad Pro, but generally speaking the iPad Pro is so much more pleasant to use than the surface pro. But that’s just me. For some people who are dealing with more professional softwares, I don’t see why they would buy an iPad Pro, even it’s slightly cheaper.
@@andrewyoung4482 actually, that's the good thing about the Windows world. there is this concept called "sales". in addition, you can buy keyboards from more than one vendor. And I already had my keyboard from my Surface Pro 2017. Microsoft was good about maintaining compatibility throughout all the generations. Not like how they handled the Apple Pencil and Pencil 2. Also, you can buy pens from many different vendors besides Microsoft. My favorite is a $40 pen with multiple buttons. How many $40 pens are available for the iPad Pro. If you think I'm denigrating the iPad Pro, I'm not. It's all about what you need out of a machine. For many people, the iPad Pro is perfect. For my uses, it's not.
@@onlysublime I like the part where you think I don't know anything about Windows or sales. I've never even owned an Apple product until a few days ago when I decided to pick up an iPad Pro. I've been all about Windows and Android since Windows 98 and the original Motorola Droid. And I'm not even going to bother defending Apple or any other company with their sales strategies because that's all part of capitalism world we live in. You get what you pay for. Also, you really think a cheap pen is better than the Apple Pencil? There are countless TH-cam videos and reviews stating that the Apple Pencil is one of the best in the game. Again, if you want one of the best then you're going to pay a little more for it. As for your last statement I 100% agree. I chose the iPad Pro for digital art and digital note taking along with other common tasks such as Netflix and browsing the internet. I've had a few Android tablets previously that I tried and they were no where near as good as the iPad Pro with my experience with it so far. Because of this I'm even thinking about switching to an iPhone and saying goodbye to my Galaxy S10. I don't know about giving up on Windows just yet though. Either way I'm not switching to a Mac book until Apple fully integrates their ARM processors into their machines and works out the bugs.
I had a 10th gen iPad th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.
I've spent 1500+ dollars on a new laptop and a display tablet. I could've bought iPad Pro 12.9 2018 and an apple pencil for less than that. RIP. Time to rob a bank
RIP... bad luck. I have an OK (if slightly old) laptop which works for stuff like writing and basic gaming, but I wanted to update my graphics tablet. Wacom's Cintiqs seemed overpriced, and the basic ones would require a good computer to draw on anyway, which made them lose any portability... Meanwhile the iPad and iPad pro were praised by all of my artist friends, and with a Bluetooth keyboard would work ok for taking notes during lectures. On top of that, I was able to test an iPad pro last spring for a couple of hours. Ended up ordering the 11" iPad pro last night, hopefully I won't regret it... the prices for those devices are HIGH.
@@Antony_Oscar trust me you won't regret it. The iPad is the future. I wish I knew that a month ago. Best pen even better than scamcom. I also would love to have a portable iPad as I don't like drawing on my desk. But I needed a laptop for music notation software and stuff. But the ipad is the future. Hopefully I'll get one some day. Meanwhile I like photoshop. Tried corel painter and it's horrible. For some reason photoshop gives me that paper drawing feeling even though corel painter is the one supposed to do that. Not to mention the brushes effects in corel painter look tacky and cheap. I would LOVE to try procreate. The best drawing experience right now
I feel you, but iPad is not a laptop replacement. In my use it has been proven to be more entertainment oriented. Then at work I have PC laptops for real work (as in Adobe and Office programs).
You made the right decision, Das Sir. As someone who loves both his laptop and iPad Pro, can confirm that the iPad Pro is not a laptop replacement. Not as of 2019, at least. Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is still firmly swept up in their initial rosey-eyed honeymoon period with their shiny new iPad, and not in a position to give credible advice just yet. If you intend to go beyond basic 2D drawings/paintings for clients, then you'll need a laptop first. The iPad Pro comes after. Getting an iPad Pro as your sole art device is like forgoing a monitor for a VR headset for your gaming rig: you will quickly regret putting the cart before the horse.
@@HipposHateWater yup I guess so!! I can't really give up my laptop. As far as I know notation and music software on the iPad still needs to catch up. I usually work on really small projects (8.5 square children's book illustrations) with 300 dpi so an IPad could be perfect. It feels so natural and it's portable which is something I always look for. I just hate apple's ecosystem (hostage system) and I despise their prices. The iPad hands down is the best digital drawing experience that you can get but like you said it is a companion device not a replacement. I just wish the ipad wasn't an apple product. Hopefully I'll save up and get the 12.9 or the 11 if the 12.9 was too big (gosh I wish there was an 11.9 one). It doesn't look like they are releasing another pro any time soon.
As an artist and graphic designer, i go for the Surface, i need to use most of adobe + photoshop is not for drawing, so thats why you see that weird sensitivity.. You have to compare it with actual drawing programs that have pen pressure. Ive been looking for a laptop and a tablet, Surface is what ive been looking for
I've used a Surface Pro for over 5 years, since the first Surface Pro. One thing about the surface line is that yes, it does run any program, BUT, I found myself more frustrated in using those programs because they are not optimized for a surface pro. I first bought it to do professional storyboards on the go, but I never really enjoyed it, I was always aware that I was drawing on a device and the pen is something you have to learn to live with. Well, about 2 months ago, I finally got an iPad Pro 12.9 and the difference is literally Night and Day! the first thing I did was buy Procreate, i can draw for hours and completely forget that I'm using a device, it feels so natural, no lag, and the best part is that all the apps are optimized for the iPad. I enjoy using Procreate, Affinity Photo and Designer (tho there are a few things that frustrate me within those apps) and I can create professional level work without the frustration. Lastly, I also own a Wacom Citiq 13HD and a Wacom Cintiq 22HD, both of which have been replaced by the iPad. Yeah, that's how much i love it.
Just the answer I was looking for. Same situation. I'm a designer and need a mobile workstation. I have an iPad Pro 2nd gen which is getting slow now. I'm thinking to upgrade, and am thinking that the iPad Pro + Macbook Pro combo is the best of both worlds, where I can use them separately or together with Sidecar so I can run desktop apps on my iPad screen when they're connected, so there's no limits. Only issue I have is the bluetooth pencil has had EMF's which hurt my hand. I'd prefer a wacom EMR stylus.
Thanks for your video. This week I had a project with an external accountant and he had a Surface Pro and I had my iPad Pro. We were both using MS Office, video- and image editing software/applications and there were no instances where one had to wait for the other. We were both fast and we could use each other's online files. It worked like a charm. He was very surprised I could do the same on my iPad. I guess if you go for iPad Pro or Surface, you're going to use the best software and applications, so that it works the best for you. Besides for work I use my iPad Pro also/mainly for drawing (Sketchclub) and wouldn't trade it for any other device in the world.
I love these reviews! I have the surface pro 6, and I use it to animate for the most part (I use tvpaint 10). It really does depend on what kind of art you're doing and what's important to your craft. For me, having a full on capable laptop was my biggest concern and luckily the SP6 works very well with few hiccups! I see more and more people with the iPad pro and drawing with them and I think they are amazing as well! It all matters on what you really need
@@DanteNostalgicFiction Why would you buy a Surface without a keyboard, if you don't mind me asking? The Surface is an ultra portable laptop. Windows 10 has a tablet mode, but it's not meant to only be used in that state. The Surface is meant to be used as a laptop.
@@iriemonmon you can use the surface pro in desktop mode without a keyboard. It's a much better device in desktop mode all the time. Tablet mode is for noobs.
Ari Entyse well a keyboard doesn’t make it a laptop. That’s like saying adding a keyboard to the iPad makes it a laptop all of a sudden. If they don’t write papers or anything like they wouldn’t need a keyboard.
I'm travelling now with my Surface. I use Visual Studio, Photoshop and Office to work remotely. I have a full fledge desktop experience in a form factor of sheet of paper. How cool is that?
@@JessieOng029 usually it's other way around and you don't have something on iPad but if you're an artist and you know exactly what you need then you wouldn't ask the question.
@@Max_Jacoby I am not an artist but I saw many comments stating that they like procreate a lot and it only exist in ipad so that's y I think it's one main factor for them to use ipad
As for me, just give iPad a decent "pro" level motion graphic app and I'm ready to use it as my laptop replacement, for 2D stuff at least. There's no way I'm using it to do 3d animation for the foreseeable future XD
Wandrinsheep as far as I know most of decent iPad animation app (CSP and Procreate at least) is using frame by frame technique which is not really my style cuz my drawing suck lol. I’m looking for something more in line with After Effect I’m not saying the iPad lack any motion graphic app whatsoever or the current selection is bad, but for me and my current workflow the current selection is just not good enough for me
Vor Alles oh okay I fully understand, yea lumafusion is powerful but it doesn’t meet that niche for motion graphics. I’m hoping for something similar to aftereffects soon as well, let’s hope together lol
I picked surface 7 on black friday because 1. you can run much more powerful apps like photoshop whereas the ipad obviously can't 2. the surface also works well for me because I enjoy some light video games like diablo 3. So if you are a creator but also want some of your desktop's abilities like video games, not just mobile apps, the surface pro 7 can run a lot of games, especially if you are willing to upgrade to 16gb ram and the dedicated graphics card. 3. the deals I could find just made the surface 7 cheaper As a side note, I don't have any lag on my surface 7, and several apps like autodesk (free) and leonardo ($40) that run amazingly on the surface 7 have both digital rulers and even stabilizers SAI style.
Excellently balanced video Brad, thank you! I've got a Surface Pro (2017) and have found that the screen heats up almost immediately when using the pen input in its tablet format which has stopped me from using it that way. Has anyone else experienced this or is my surface just unlucky? As a side note, I love using my surface as a super-portable and versatile laptop which is easy to carry around, I'd thoroughly recommend it as I've not experienced any operational slow down using it daily for 2.5years.
I use a Surface Book 2 i7 8GB for heavy duty home work, Surface Pro 4 4GB (never unplug it if you have the unfixable battery issue where it dies before 20% without warning) if I need to finish a large project away from home but still want to travel light and iPad Pro 11 256GB for mid-work for on the go.
I’m watching this on my iPad Pro but would prefer to watch TH-cam on my Surface Pro 6. TH-cam doesn’t allow going to the home screen and opening other apps and multitasking like the Surface does. Unless you have TH-cam Red or you do the split screen feature but this requires TH-cam to still be active on screen on the iPad Pro. This limits the iPad a great deal. Sometimes I like listening to music when having a TH-cam video playing if the person is just talking, which you can’t do on the iPad. I will say the battery life on the Surface is pretty bad at least on the Surface 6. Hopefully they’ve improved it on the 7.
you can have the youtube video pop out on the ipad and take a tiny corner of space. open youtube on safari/chrome, full screen the video and there'll be a button you can press in the upper left corner that will make the video float and pop out (you can also swipe up while on the youtube tab but sometimes it doesn't work). you can also resize the floating pop-out video to be as smol or as big as you want with pinch gesture i used to use free 3rd party youtube apps like waffle for background play but youtube updates eventually break those apps
I have an IPad Pro 12.9 and a Mackbook Air. I would say that just in the past year my overall computer use has gonne down to about 10% of my workflow. I’m an illustrator that doesn’t have to use vectors very often, so it has worked for me.
Can't recommend the iPad enough. Had way too many problems with graphics tablet drivers on my windows PC and I just gave up after my 3rd tablet stopped registering pressure. Apple made it so much easier for me to do my digital drawings lmao. Procreate is a joy to use and a far better experience in terms of drawing than Photoshop in my opinion. My desktop computer has 12GB of RAM a decent GPU and a good CPU and with every year of Creative Cloud updates the performance gets worse and worse. The last suite of creative cloud apps that worked well on my computer was 2017, 2018+ has been a laggy, stuttery mess. I'm using procreate and affinity designer on my 9.7 inch iPad pro from years ago and it never once gave me performance issues. My only complaint with my ipad though is the fact that the amount of layers I can have on procreate is limited.
That's an interesting experience. I've had Wacom devices and Cintiqs for a very long time. Like you, there were always driver issues until very recently. Maybe less than a year where I haven't had any problems. But, those problems were never enough to make me give up. I think, the Cintiqs and Intuos tablets are built like tanks. I have a Intuos GD from the early 2000's. Wacom continued to supply drives for it, forever. It was still working a couple years ago and I haven't tried it lately. It has never failed. So, that was impressive. With regard to performance getting worse and worse every year with Adobe, that's been my experience also forever. But again, the latest releases from Adobe actually got better and better! That was a huge surprise for me. At least on my Windows PC. Not on my Mac. Nowadays, I have the very latest CC apps, and Photoshop and Illustrator are running fine. Other apps are not so fine. That's on a PC that I bought in 2011. I also just bought a brand new PC so of course performance on that machine is spectacular. Well, you're never going to get the same brush performance that we see with Procreate, but then, the other iOS apps also don't have the same brush performance as Procreate. Procreate is special. Affinity Designer was/is a laggy, stuttery mess on my two iPad Pro. Unusable. It freezes completely. Eventually, my iPad Pro 13" became problematic as well. Battery life became poor very quickly. And when I try to enter my password to log in, it freezes constantly. I have to tap a number, again, and again, and again. Hit the power button, start over and eventually it will respond. I think the iPad Pro is a wonderful device for art on the go but not for serious productivity. It's not made for that.
The solution for wavy lines is using smoothing for the lines. iPad app's have this feature prebuilt generally speaking. Surface doesn't because, well, as you said the downside to surface is that all apps are not really thought to be built just for touchscreen. Some apps even barely implemented it.
I got my Surface Pro 6 with 128gb storage, 8gb ram, and core i5 for $699 at Best Buy on sale new when the 7 launched. I added a 128gb sd card for programs and have been happy with it. I also have an iPad pro but find myself reaching for the Surface more because I can do more traditional computing tasks AND draw.
My mom wants to buy me a tablet so I can fulfill my dream of becoming an artist/animator and asked me what tablet would I want. These videos have been helping fulfill my decision
For school nothing beats the surface pro. I have the new iPad Pro as well but writing notes is just way better on the SP. Good notes and notability are incredible apps, but the iPad lacks the ability a laptop has. I love OneNote for class. I was premed and printing lecture slides into OneNote, writing on screen, and recording lecture audio works incredibly well. Microsoft has had the technology to recognize your handwriting within your notes for almost five years now. The ink to math and other features have been there for years in OneNote. Nothing beats the feedback of the surface pen and the eraser. I wish Apple made the pencil like the surface pen where you can switch out heads and get the push feedback. The eraser is the greatest thing as well. You can click it to open up onenote and automatically open up a note, hold for cortana, or double click to take a screenshot. You can program the click, hold, and double tap to accomplish almost anything (opening a specific app, etc.) I’ve used my surface pen on a average of 5 hours a day for three years and the battery is still at 71%. Not having to charge a writing tool is a much better approach to technology that is used naturally. If I ever needed to replace the battery, it is super easy as it’s a AAAA battery that I can buy anywhere. I have ALWAYS been a die hard Apple fan boy since I was a kid in the early 2000s all the way through high school. The fact that Apple has not innovated their Mac products since Steve Jobs has passed away is extremely upsetting. They have made loads of progress with the iPad Pro, watch, and Apple TV, however, my 2011 MacBook Air is capable of completing nearly every single task (except sidecar with the new update) that the new macs are capable of accomplishing. There’s nothing great about the new macs. If only Apple combined the iPad Pro and Mac into a device similar to the surface pro 🤔🤫. Thank you for listening to my TED Talk.
Or just use a animation app for callipeg, it just launched on the App Store, and cheaper then adobe. For one month it’s a dollar, for one year it’s $10 and to own it it costs $50. I would say it’s worth es buying it in my opinion, you can try it for a free trial and if you like it. I suggest buy the whole program, because right now callipeg is vastly unknown, so they’ll start off cheap, but once they get popular I believe they’ll start bumping up prices, just like other applications such as photoshop. I heard back in the days photoshop was free...
2017 I was in a situation that it was time to buy new computer. Previously I had a VAIO laptop, which was big but good. The forced windows 10 broke it. So I decided to have either Surface or iPad. After seeing how well the pen reacted to iPad, I went forward with 10,5” iPad Pro. There are times that I miss the windows. Mostly because of Office bad Adobe programs, but otherwise the iPad has been perfect. I’m considering to invest in 16” MacBook Pro, but since I have never used Mac interface and the fact that I have to purchase all the programs does not sound very attractive.
@@johnnydfred lol, just take a look at the releases of software for windows vs mac, it's around an 70/20 ratio which matches with Apple's market share.
If the Clip Studio Paint subscription turns you away from ipad, please reconsider, I made the mistake to buy a surface pro 4, pencil is terrible and now I'm stuck with it. I'd gladly buy an ipad and pay $25 a year for CSP now tbh.
The iPad Pro is like a powerful sports car chained to a boulder (iPadOS). The Surface Pro is like a normal car that is not held back by its OS. I bought an M1 iPad Pro because of all the hype about iPadOS 15.4. Two generations of OS since, I feel betrayed. On Saturday, I bought a refurbished i5 256GB SP7. It's night and day, and it can run full Adobe CC and Office. I have a hulking Alienware A51 II gaming laptop (19-10900K, 32GB RAM, 3TB SSD and nVidia RTX 2080 Super to do the heavy lifting at home, but I travel a lot on business and have long carried a personal travel tech bag with everything I need to stay charged and connected on the move. I started with an SP2, then an SP4, then that died, then I thought I'd give the M1 iPad Pro a spin, though I had to keep making compromises in Adobe (Premiere Rush and all the missing apps, and even MS Office). I'll hang on to it, ,just in case Apple do eventually bring what I need to iPadOS, but for the foreseeable future, it'll be the Surface Pro 7 that accompanies meonto the plane. I will be using the iPad Pro for content consumption down the pub at weekends.
I really have a love hate relationship with surfaces honestly. I’ve had one for just over two years (sorta). I loved my surface and spent hours making drawings and animations, (before this I had only had a tiny none display Wacom tablet). And everything worked great, until it didn’t. Essentially the digitizer in the screen went, so no touch response at all. This was a god awful mess because I was using it as a drawing tablet, so without touch it was useless to me. And I needed it to finish portfolios for art school. To make a long story short I ended up getting a replace from Microsoft that then suffered the same problems only 2 weeks later. It was frustrating because all I wanted to do was draw. Eventually I received a working computer, but at this point I’m just waiting for it to break again. My opinion on a surface is that if you’re serious about art, get a good desk top and save up for a good display tablet. It’ll be more reliable than a surface and have far more ram (which is essential to good animation programs).
Not an artist but mine also broke after only 2 years and spending 1.4k on it. Microsoft support was not helpful at all and wanted me to buy either a new one or pay 450€ to get a replacement
I wanted to stick to Windows since that's what I used throughout high school and college, but both of my former PCs only lasted a couple years (3 maybe), before I started having major problems and had to get rid of both of them. I got a Mac from my new job and have had zero issues so far. Not to mention it was previously used by a former employee. So it's had 4+ years of usage at least. The experience convinced me to go for an ipad pro instead the s6 or surface pro. I used to hate apple, but I feel more secure getting an ipad. Also I used to draw on a dell and the lag was really bad
I had a refurb pro 3 last for like 2 years before i seriously cracked it...twice :/ Everything still works fine (i still have it so it's now 3-4 years old) but i'm not fixing it again, i'm just waiting for a surface book 3 lol.
I have the sp7 and it started blue screening on me randomly while using it, exchanged it a microsoft store for the same one and my second on will turn on after sleeping, get loud, get up to 105 degrees and after letting it cool down before using it the battery is at 10%. I used to have a 2018 11in ipad pro which I sold for the sp7, but I'm cosidering going back.
Update: now the screen is being unresponsive to touch sometimes and it either misclicks on touch or requires me to stab at the screen with my finger instead of tapping, I didn't pay $2000+ for consistent issues like these, definitely going back to an ipad pro.
If you're a consultant, professor, student of any kind, engineer, lawyer, medical student, designer, financial analyst, accountant, marketing specialist, or an entrepreneur dealing with clients from your home office etc, you will appreciate both these devices for their mobility, quality and practical applications. The level of options (to fit your taste and requirements) and creative liberty these two gizmos provide will be fantastic. That's why I have both. Btw, I'm not saying just those career paths will be able to utilize it's full potential, that's just been my experience thus far. Get both if you can.
as someone who has both devices i highly recommend surface pro. i don't have any use for Ipad at all, it's just on my shelf gathering dust. procreate and apple pencil is amazing but that is it, ipad is not good for anything. but i use my surface pro every day and although i have a powerful pc with RTX2080 and everything i prefer to use surface for most of my task even when i am working with maya or aftereffect only use my PC for rendering, gaming and heavy works. just add something extra, if you want to draw on surface pro i highly recommend krita and i don't recommend photoshop at all, photoshop makes my device heat up so much and works slow
I've had a Surface Pro for a year then the screen started glitching like crazy. A bunch of people had the same issue if you search it up- so if any of you plan on spending loads of money on it I thought you should know💛 have a nice day.
Its simple, if by far your main requirement is drawing, go for the ipad. If you want an actual laptop replacement that can do anything, go the the Surface Pro 7. If you are a mobile working that needs all on LTE connection and work mostly in office and a web browser, get the Surface pro X.
Gotta say, my iPad completely replaced my computer on daily university stuff that I usually need to use, there are some shortcomings, yes, but in general is a lot more enjoyable to me.
I have a SP4 and looks like that pen jitter issue never got fixed, which is part of the reason I'm watching this video. It's a shame most of the creative community seems to favor Apple by default (hence more options for brushes and templates via Procreate). I love my Surface but the number of times I have to redo lines on my artwork is frustrating. Apple Pencil looks to not have many issues and better pressure sensitivity, although like you said, a lot of Windows apps don't take advantage of it. If I don't lose my job over this COVID-19 craziness, I will be looking into an iPad Pro this year.
7:33 When drawing a straight line from the ruler, rest the tip of the pen on the ruler, not the edge away from the tip, because this way you have a large margin of error (moving the tip) and you will never draw a straight line.
I recently got my iPad Pro 12.9 for school and drawing and so far it’s been and amazing experience so I don’t think that I’ll be switching anytime soon
Just purchased the Ipad Pro 11". Best decision I have made. Drawing on it is so satisfying. I have been drawing every single day ever since I got it, as compared to drawing once a week previously on paper. First time using an apple product, and I am very impressed
As a 3d game artist, the surface pro does 95% of the tasks I need it to do. However, if you're just painting and illustrating, the iPad is awesome. The iPad has some 3d modelling software Available, but it's nowhere near good enough for game dev.
Is it worth getting a ipad 11inch pro for drawing vs the standard 7th gen ipad? Alrady have a laptop and surface pro 5. Drawing on them just isnt working that good for me. So which ipad would be the best if i am only using it for drawing?
one thing i found out...apple service centers wont repair my i pad...the charging port is malfunctioning and they said they cant open up my i pad...i just have to buy a new one.
Yea...went to 2 places both said that...Idk ..they said we can only help with i phones or macs ....dunno...maybe it my country or maybe they bullshittin
I think I've finally made my choices : I finally got my Surface Pro X, I love it better than my previous iPad Pro 11 which frustrated me but was a great drawing device. The lack of extension memory, of good keyboard and mouse or hover function bothered me... :( Plus Shadow it makes it a lot better when some power is needed on the go (thanks 4G+). What iPad couldn't really offer because of the lack of a good mouse use. BUT I love the iPad Mini Pro 5 which is pencil compatible as a small "notebook" ! I was looking for that since my Dell Venue 8 Pro and ASUS Vivotab note 8 and even the Galaxy Note 8.0 or Asus Zenpad S 8.0 was not as good as the ipad mini. And the lack of full desktop app isn't a problem here :) And to do more "powerful" stuff I still have my Surface Book 2 which is my work device. I will either change it by the next one coming or a Surface Studio I dream to posess ! I was frustrated not having a kickstand on it and changing the screen position everytime is not as confortable than Surface Pro/Go's Kickstand that is whyvI came back to SP but this time I chose the X one.
I have kinda similar feeling... But in my case I think it is because of the newer versions of IOS and especially the missing home button. Using only gestures to work with new ipad pro is awful, painful and troublesome. I have also old ipad mini 4 with home button and it is way better experience (but I cannot draw on it).
What I didn't like in the surface was how the pen felt, like it didn't feel as accurate and snappy as the ipad Pro did. Since I don't really use any of the apps I need Windows for it's a clear winner for me (tickles all my fancies). Brad, you introduced me to Affinity Designer and Photo and I've not looked back since. I've done so much with it it'd be hard to switch. One thing I wish it had a powerful 3d modelling / rendering software like cinema 4d with all the plugins - here's to hope for the future, perhaps cloud based rendering?
I used a Surface Pro 4 for two years. Moving to ipad Air 3 has been the best artistic choice I've ever made. The Surface Pen is embaressing and has the same price of the Apple Pencil. I hope that the new one is better.
Since Pro 5 the Surface Pen as been improve, and have the same feature than the Pencil :) But "apps" are not as optimized than those on iPad :( (More settings to do for some, not every features for others)
This is a great comparison video. I've considered picking up the surface pro for quite some time but I am afraid that it won't be powerful enough to be a full-fledged mobile animation device. I use Adobe Animate / Premier. Although I know the Surface Pro 6/7 can technically run those programs, the question is how well? If I'm working on a larger project, will it bog down? Does the Surface have the processing power necessary? Any thoughts?
It's really how you spec it. Getting the 16gb ram model with an i7 you will be fine for any cpu driven things (there's not a giant bump from 6 to 7 but don't get anything below a 6). If you need a gpu for your project however, they don't really have a solution out there yet. It's also using windows which is a mixed bag of crashes and software bugs.
I had to make this choice 4 months ago. Ipad os and the apple pen made me decide for the pad. The only downside is the usual apple/windows incompatibility. I wish I could use the pad as a small cintique or similar when attached to my pc while using ps or else. But for this apple would need to make "sidecar" available for windows pcs somehow. None the less... since the update to ipad os, the pen has only 7ms response time and this just rocks...
The iPad Pro is better for drawing, I'd agree. But is it that much better than the Surface Pro it copied as an overall device? No. Not at all. Which is why (after adding a mate screen protector to it), I'll always pick the Surface over the iPad. And so should everyone who is NOT locked into the Apple ecosystem.
unless you’re taking handwritten notes. Doesn’t matter whether you’re in the ecosystem or not. If you have a laptop and you want to draw and take notes by hand, the iPad is a better option (imo and at least to me).
No need for mate screen on Surface ^^ Just buy the nibs ^^ I bought several ones before the prices went up... the 2B nib feels so great ! Mate screens bother me when doing anything but drawing :( It was also that reason I chose to sell my iPad Pro (and also because Apple devices don't lose too much value when selling them)
Have surface myself but I have found that optimization on alot of apps arent really good at all. That reason alone I would strongly suggest Ipad pro over surface especially if your mainly doing drawing.
Not rlly. It hardly does anything perfectly. It’s not even a good laptop because of the specs, not a good tablet because of the battery, n not very convenient. I’ve had surface book but then I switched to mbp+ surface pro, n surface pro does everything I can do with surface book...
How long have you had? Does it have slow down or other probs people have been talking about? I'm looking into a used surface pro but don't want to spend bunch a money for defective one.
@@Glamrgrl104 go for a used one on eBay that offers a warranty. I'm gonna get one from Best Buy Saturday. You get the accidental warranty they offer and it makes upgrading super easy.
@@Glamrgrl104 I would go for any surface above the 4 because of Flickr gate. They fixed it on the pro 5 and above. I use the Surface book 2 now and Love it
Me with my iPad Pro is waiting for Adobe to release Adobe Animate App...... Is it ever gunna happen? I’m using Clip Studio to animate now, and it’s powerful.... but I seriously want to try out Adobe Animate app....!
This is exactly what I've been looking for in terms of review. I already have an ipad pro (2018) and want a bigger screen to work on, so I've been looking at a possible upgrade. I'm not really looking to replace my laptop, I'm more just trying to streamline my process. I'm in a situation where I'm moving around a lot a don't have control over desk space, so that's why I haven't just gotten a cintiq yet.
What apps do you use to draw on the Galaxy Tab? It feels like every Android art app has at least a couple major flaws and missing features, and aren't being actively added to lately. (only updates I usually see are minor bugfixes, not addressing shortcomings or adding major features)
I have the SP2017 with i7/8GB/256GB and the 2nd gen iPad Pro 12.9” and they have their benefits. I use the SP mainly for work applications and I use the iPad Pro for when I need to take notes on one note. I also take notes on the SP because I love the pen but the SP’s battery sucks! I wished I could just sell the iPad Pro I have now for a new 11” iPad Pro so I can use it with the pen.
I've been using the surface for about a year and a half now. Never been much of a pc user because of all the hassle that comes with it, & I'm officially at my breaking point with my surface lol. Even though I've been extremely careful, it still gets viruses. It runs extremely slow now and is just obnoxious to use. Ive always preferred apples clean layouts and simplicity; My apple pencil is in the mail right now and I can't wait to make the switch
Lord Goofball I’ve had that problem to I ended up having to replace the whole computer. Then two weeks later the replacement Microsoft gave us did the same thing! Honestly it was ridiculous and so many people have these problems with surfaces.
Any one could help me figure out how does he made it undo at 8:02 in Photoshop. HALP! I just got my surface and wanna know how to use Photoshop without using keyboard 😭
I agree with you. A laptop is still better for doing all work-related stuff like creating websites using WordPress, typing letters etc in pages/word and more things. It is just so frustrating to work on an iPad for any really productive work. If they make an iPad Pro with a keyboard cover with trackpad then also i think it will be much better, obviously with more iPad OS refinements.
I have an Pro 6 with an i5 with 16gb and it goes really good I can edit videos full 1080p with no problem at 1/4 res in Premier pro using all adobe apps getting no hotter than 65°c when rendering
In my opinion it boils down to - get a surface if you want a laptop and a good drawing tablet in one, and get an iPad if you like the apps and if you already have a good laptop. Personally I prefer the surface because it runs well as a laptop and there are lots of options for apps you could use.
Anne Sofie Vork Nielsen i do, you won't have any problems without a glove but i prefer to ut it because sometimes the ipad will accidentally recognize the touch of your hand even if you're holding the apple pencil (Sorry for my english)
Is there any one program you would recommend to someone who has never done graphic design but would like to draw things like illustrations for kids books? Thanks for your videos! i bought a used surface pro 6 to use as a laptop and drawing tablet :)
Sitting here writing reply after reply - such an active group! One thing not detailed (sorry, Brad, but - way!) is the full spectrum of work. Can the Surface tablet serve every need of the user? I use an iPad Pro in conjunk with both an iMac at home and a company MacBook Pro. And this is SO complete an experience!! The synergies between Apple’s os’s is very evident. So for some, Surface may be all they need - IF it can serve them in all capacity.
The good thing about the surface pro 7 is that you can actually install MacOS Ventura on it but the camera does not work and while the pen does, the pressure sensitivity doesn’t. If it did that would be amazing.
Hello Brad, may I know what is the font that you use? It's very aesthetically pleasing. Also could you do a review of the latest iteration of Affinity photo? Is it worth buying it? Reviews say it's becoming buggier with every update.
I bought a Surface Pro 4 with i7 and 8Gb last year for less than £300 and was as good as new, just learning to get into digital art and I am a slow learner. (frustrating at times). There are a few things I am struggling with, one is screen size as my eyes are getting strained very easily, even with drawing on paper. It's a steep learning curve for me to transition to digital art and I am fairly impatient with myself.
Its not that the apps make use of the low response time its that the ipad pro has a 120hz display vs 60hz so that means half the lag when moving. I am not saying for the screen to pick up the pens but when it starts moving, the ipad pro has twice as many refreshes for a new image/frame
If you are an artist go with IPad Pro hands down the pen latency is down to 9ms from 30 and surface has visible lag when using the pen I owned one. So I totally agree with him . If you need Windows then DUH. But if not go with IPad Pro
Imagine an iPad and Microsoft combo to build that ONE BEAST
I would spend a large sum on a 12” metal and glass multitouch tablet that ran iPad os and windows natively.
It would be an inbred of elves and human, it would be a Yennefer
elgritton we all Stan yennefer

I would give my kidney for that hybrid
If only we had the Apple pencil’s drawing ability on a surface pro
so buy Wacom's Pen...
Yeah, well that’s the $1000-$1200 question. The retort is, “given the Windowy nature and the way the OS comes to the surface on the...Surface, will this be possible?” I’m sticking with the Pencil/iPad Pro: for me*, it’s the closest thing to real drawing with all the benefits of digital.
you do, you just need to use programs that are meant for touch. He should have used fresco more
Cassandra agree with your comment by the choice is more complex than touch designed.
@@Balala_ that's what the gallon of coffee is for! (I was joking. XD)
r/woooooosh lol
So its best to look at the specs, see the reviews and ask yourself "is that going to help me do what i do best.. even better?"
Eg I moved from wacom intuos to a chuwi hi13, then to xp-pen artist 12 (which i love) and now im looking into a huion kamvas pro.. simple reasons for so many brand shifts? because who made it didnt matter to me - what i could do on it did, and with the exception of Chuwi (sorry chuwi, but unless you exclusively use clip studio, and always need to jumpstart bios to boot, your tablets suck) everything helped me elevate my artwork :).
Those brand u mention are drawing tablet.. It doesn't have a screen

This is why I got a surface pro (3). I can run desktop apps and have the drawing ability (which is awesome in my opinion). Win win situation.
Exactly what I thought when I had the surfAce pro. Until one day I finally was fed up with the small texts and menus that were so hard to touch...

Ari Entyse well a keyboard doesn’t make it a laptop. That’s like saying adding a keyboard to the iPad makes it a laptop all of a sudden. If they don’t write papers or anything like they wouldn’t need a keyboard.
Brad, must say how your art style really comes alive with animation. Spot on bro 3:20

As for me, just give iPad a decent "pro" level motion graphic app and I'm ready to use it as my laptop replacement, for 2D stuff at least. There's no way I'm using it to do 3d animation for the foreseeable future XD
You already have multiple choices there, clip studio ex, procreate 5, flipaclip and more
Wandrinsheep as far as I know most of decent iPad animation app (CSP and Procreate at least) is using frame by frame technique which is not really my style cuz my drawing suck lol. I’m looking for something more in line with After Effect
I’m not saying the iPad lack any motion graphic app whatsoever or the current selection is bad, but for me and my current workflow the current selection is just not good enough for me
Vor Alles oh okay I fully understand, yea lumafusion is powerful but it doesn’t meet that niche for motion graphics.

3. the deals I could find just made the surface 7 cheaper
As a side note, I don't have any lag on my surface 7, and several apps like autodesk (free) and leonardo ($40) that run amazingly on the surface 7 have both digital rulers and even stabilizers SAI style.
How's the sp7 working for you? Good for drawing? Would you recommend over iPad and also spro 6??
I only run medibang paints nothing too power heavy.
I use a Surface Book 2 i7 8GB for heavy duty home work, Surface Pro 4 4GB (never unplug it if you have the unfixable battery issue where it dies before 20% without warning) if I need to finish a large project away from home but still want to travel light and iPad Pro 11 256GB for mid-work for on the go.
thanks
Hopefully they’ve improved it on the 7.
you can have the youtube video pop out on the ipad and take a tiny corner of space. open youtube on safari/chrome, full screen the video and there'll be a button you can press in the upper left corner that will make the video float and pop out (you can also swipe up while on the youtube tab but sometimes it doesn't work). you can also resize the floating pop-out video to be as smol or as big as you want with pinch gesture
i used to use free 3rd party youtube apps like waffle for background play but youtube updates eventually break those apps
The iPad Pro is especially fit for desktop mode om safari now. No lag or anything.
Some apps even barely implemented it.
nothing can beat surface pro 7 with clip studio, photoshop, Visual studio and a win10 version linux terminal.
That's the way to do it, it's only a small step down, a lot cheaper AND you get more ram.
My mom wants to buy me a tablet so I can fulfill my dream of becoming an artist/animator and asked me what tablet would I want. These videos have been helping fulfill my decision

@@cosmos7499 and? It's just an APP, there's so many apps out there that suit a specific person. Some artists prefer procreate, some don't so ur point?
The day adobe brings an animation app to ipad is the day I'll consider a subscription
Even then you could still get it by... less socially agreeable standards
16” MacBook Pro will definitely do your all jobs perfectly. MacOS has its own unique interface. I think you will get familiar with it in a days.
The core of the fact:
Surface pro doesn't have Procreate
So ? Krita and Sketchbook Pro are up to Procreate. Just to name these 2. Because there's Artrage 6 that will perform better on a PC than on an Ipad.
MemekKontol beradu There are downsides to being Windows - it is no longer a preferred platform for new apps.

I had a refurb pro 3 last for like 2 years before i seriously cracked it...twice :/
Everything still works fine (i still have it so it's now 3-4 years old) but i'm not fixing it again, i'm just waiting for a surface book 3 lol.
Can you do an iPad Pro 2020 vs surface pro 7?? 🙏🏼🙏🏼 no one has this review
as someone who has both devices i highly recommend surface pro. i don't have any use for Ipad at all, it's just on my shelf gathering dust. procreate and apple pencil is amazing but that is it, ipad is not good for anything. but i use my surface pro every day and although i have a powerful pc with RTX2080 and everything i prefer to use surface for most of my task even when i am working with maya or aftereffect only use my PC for rendering, gaming and heavy works.
just add something extra, if you want to draw on surface pro i highly recommend krita and i don't recommend photoshop at all, photoshop makes my device heat up so much and works slow
Which surface pro did you by new used or refurbished?
PaperLike v2 on an iPad Pro is the bomb! Makes drawing such a happy experience
I am thinking of getting a ipad air or ipad pro but idk DX
I've had a Surface Pro for a year then the screen started glitching like crazy. A bunch of people had the same issue if you search it up- so if any of you plan on spending loads of money on it I thought you should know💛 have a nice day.
Which year make was it
You also have to pay monthly subscriptions for things like clip studio on an ipad. When it's a one time purchase on the pc
It's a one time purchase??? Really you can't have it forever on ipad??
Procreate is a one time purchase for $10 though so
Its simple, if by far your main requirement is drawing, go for the ipad.
I suggest the surface
I have a SP4 and looks like that pen jitter issue never got fixed, which is part of the reason I'm watching this video. It's a shame most of the creative community seems to favor Apple by default (hence more options for brushes and templates via Procreate). I love my Surface but the number of times I have to redo lines on my artwork is frustrating. Apple Pencil looks to not have many issues and better pressure sensitivity, although like you said, a lot of Windows apps don't take advantage of it. If I don't lose my job over this COVID-19 craziness, I will be looking into an iPad Pro this year.
I would definitely consider battery life!! The iPad Pro is a serious full day device!!
It's because the chip is based on ARM.
Do you use a matte screen protector?
Wiky D : no but I want to get one for Christmas
Just purchased the Ipad Pro 11". Best decision I have made. Drawing on it is so satisfying. I have been drawing every single day ever since I got it, as compared to drawing once a week previously on paper. First time using an apple product, and I am very impressed
The best drawing app I see on Windows is the Autodesk Sketchbook
Photoshop
As a 3d game artist, the surface pro does 95% of the tasks I need it to do.
However, if you're just painting and illustrating, the iPad is awesome. The iPad has some 3d modelling software Available, but it's nowhere near good enough for game dev.
omg finally the answere I searched for!
Medibang works great on the Surface! Their stabilization feature is phenomenal.
Is it worth getting a ipad 11inch pro for drawing vs the standard 7th gen ipad? Alrady have a laptop and surface pro 5. Drawing on them just isnt working that good for me.
So which ipad would be the best if i am only using it for drawing?

I've tried surface (surface go, but surface nontheless). I find it's not fun to be used as tablet.
I'm gonna give ipad a go this time.
I think I've finally made my choices :
I finally got my Surface Pro X, I love it better than my previous iPad Pro 11 which frustrated me but was a great drawing device.
The lack of extension memory, of good keyboard and mouse or hover function bothered me... :(
Plus Shadow it makes it a lot better when some power is needed on the go (thanks 4G+).
And the lack of full desktop app isn't a problem here :)
And to do more "powerful" stuff I still have my Surface Book 2 which is my work device.
I like my iPad because it is awesome and more power full than pro and I also have a laptop ( windows) best combo
How did you feel that way ipad is way better in every single way
I like the iPad because I use it as it's intended purpose. It's an inbetween of my phone and laptop.
@@B121AN1 Yeah I understand your points, I think everyone has its own way to use their devices so there is no "better" use of one or another. :)
I use a surface go to draw. It’s nothing fancy and certainly isn’t the best for professionals but for a hobbyist like me it’s perfect!
I used a Surface Pro 4 for two years. Moving to ipad Air 3 has been the best artistic choice I've ever made. The Surface Pen is embaressing and has the same price of the Apple Pencil. I hope that the new one is better.
Since Pro 5 the Surface Pen as been improve, and have the same feature than the Pencil :)
But "apps" are not as optimized than those on iPad :(
(More settings to do for some, not every features for others)
@@Supain glad to know that. The Surface is a great laptop, anyways, but not -for me- when it comes to art. It helped me a lot to improve, though
@@brianhuang1391 thanks, this helps a lot. That's the exact information I was looking for
I had to make this choice 4 months ago.
No need for mate screen on Surface ^^
Just buy the nibs ^^
I bought several ones before the prices went up... the 2B nib feels so great !
Mate screens bother me when doing anything but drawing :(
It was also that reason I chose to sell my iPad Pro (and also because Apple devices don't lose too much value when selling them)
Have surface myself but I have found that optimization on alot of apps arent really good at all. That reason alone I would strongly suggest Ipad pro over surface especially if your mainly doing drawing.
Do you think they will ever come out with a better pen for the pro? I hate apple products and don't like the compatability issues i run into
Microsoft surface book is the best all in one option imo but for my art specifically I will always choose iPad
Not rlly. It hardly does anything perfectly. It’s not even a good laptop because of the specs, not a good tablet because of the battery, n not very convenient. I’ve had surface book but then I switched to mbp+ surface pro, n surface pro does everything I can do with surface book...
9:16 idk much about RAM tbh but for the price of a Cintiq you can get an iPad Pro with over 100 GB in storage
Ram is what it runs on not storage so the more ram the smoother and faster it is

I wished I could just sell the iPad Pro I have now for a new 11” iPad Pro so I can use it with the pen.
imagine having these both but I still suck at drawing
5:50 whoah! Is that a delay?
Edit: tried it in 0.25speed yup
He literally explained it’s the apps not the surface simple update will fix it tbh
UNO nowadays we are so used to unpolished products and software that an update to fix things became common. From games, to application to this.
It's the expected once MacBook releases ARM versions and dells does as well, software will follow

I love the Microsoft surface pro 7
I've been using the surface for about a year and a half now. Never been much of a pc user because of all the hassle that comes with it, & I'm officially at my breaking point with my surface lol. Even though I've been extremely careful, it still gets viruses. It runs extremely slow now and is just obnoxious to use. Ive always preferred apples clean layouts and simplicity; My apple pencil is in the mail right now and I can't wait to make the switch
I would use my surface pro more, but it keeps shutting itself off and refusing to respond to touch.
Lord Goofball I’ve had that problem to I ended up having to replace the whole computer. Then two weeks later the replacement Microsoft gave us did the same thing! Honestly it was ridiculous and so many people have these problems with surfaces.
wow i wonder why. I haven't experienced that yet
Any one could help me figure out how does he made it undo at 8:02 in Photoshop. HALP! I just got my surface and wanna know how to use Photoshop without using keyboard 😭
For my hands doing animations on a laptop is way easier than the ipad idk why 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The surface is too expensive, much more than the iPad. With the surface pro I can buy better a really good mac
I HATE Squarespace adds. They're waaay too much everywhere.
Never heard of them. I live in Sweden though.
@@Enkeria I live just a little bit to the south, however I'm speaking about the ads in almost all YT creativity channels.

yes... squarespace i hate them them ... also shaper3D ... and the "do you want to learn to draw professionally ? .."

I have an Pro 6 with an i5 with 16gb and it goes really good I can edit videos full 1080p with no problem at 1/4 res in Premier pro using all adobe apps getting no hotter than 65°c when rendering
You should review Clip Studio Paint on Iphone
In my opinion it boils down to - get a surface if you want a laptop and a good drawing tablet in one, and get an iPad if you like the apps and if you already have a good laptop.
Personally I prefer the surface because it runs well as a laptop and there are lots of options for apps you could use.
When using the iPad Pro, do you recommend using a drawing glove? :-)
Anne Sofie Vork Nielsen i do, you won't have any problems without a glove but i prefer to ut it because sometimes the ipad will accidentally recognize the touch of your hand even if you're holding the apple pencil
(Sorry for my english)
Is there any one program you would recommend to someone who has never done graphic design but would like to draw things like illustrations for kids books? Thanks for your videos! i bought a used surface pro 6 to use as a laptop and drawing tablet :)
Can surface run mobile game? PUBG mobile, Summoners war and can it run goodnote?
So i bought the iPad.
The Surface can run real PC games though, kind of depends what you're into but gaming-wise I'd have the Surface in a heartbeat.
Apple Pencil is just best.
I really love your minimal and stylish backgrounds, except for this plant. It's big and not nice looking, sorry :o
What is the icon you use in the 8:06 minute minute written with ctrl + z inside it I would like it and thank you
1:21 Dekstop
9:10 brakground
The good thing about the surface pro 7 is that you can actually install MacOS Ventura on it but the camera does not work and while the pen does, the pressure sensitivity doesn’t. If it did that would be amazing.
Steve Jobs: who wants a stylus
Apple: releases $130 stylus
Us: you have become the very thing you swore to destroy
Well done, Brad. Reinforces the reason I send people to your channel all the time
Hello Brad, may I know what is the font that you use? It's very aesthetically pleasing.
Also could you do a review of the latest iteration of Affinity photo? Is it worth buying it? Reviews say it's becoming buggier with every update.
I bought a Surface Pro 4 with i7 and 8Gb last year for less than £300 and was as good as new, just learning to get into digital art and I am a slow learner. (frustrating at times). There are a few things I am struggling with, one is screen size as my eyes are getting strained very easily, even with drawing on paper. It's a steep learning curve for me to transition to digital art and I am fairly impatient with myself.
iPad Pro gen 1 for dayz, weekz, monthz, yearz!
Its not that the apps make use of the low response time its that the ipad pro has a 120hz display vs 60hz so that means half the lag when moving. I am not saying for the screen to pick up the pens but when it starts moving, the ipad pro has twice as many refreshes for a new image/frame
Wow that looked and felt different from most of your other videos. Hard to pin it down but it was like a different "Brad" doing the video..
If you are an artist go with IPad Pro hands down the pen latency is down to 9ms from 30 and surface has visible lag when using the pen I owned one. So I totally agree with him . If you need Windows then DUH. But if not go with IPad Pro
