      I bet it work even better if you made a roux early in the process.

      @@RobotPorter Ya, but don't think you want the gravy too thick while the steaks are simmering in the liquid. But I prefer a roux as well. I would remove the steaks and liquid after cooking, make the roux, and add back the liquid then servce. Pan gravy... mmmm

    bella christina Hi Bella, you can find Beef Base in the soup section. A popular brand name is Better than Bouillon. If you cannot find Beef Base, simply use beef broth (do not add the water if the recipe if you do) or you can keep the recipe as is and use a couple bouillon cubes. Hope this helps!! Thank you for watching and please let me know how you like it!

      Nonyah Biz Why is him mixing with his hands gross? When it comes to ground beef, the best way to mix everything together is with your hands. A lot of tools don't really mix everything real well. And if you're worried about germs, if you wash your hands, there's probably more germs in the air. Not to mention, the heat kills most bacteria.

    I love Salisbury Steak! I first had it back in the '60s when it came as the protein portion of a Swanson TV Dinner. Then I had a "homemade" version that used Lipton Onion Soup Mix for the sauce. THEN I learned to make it from scratch. I was the only 12-year old boy I knew back then who cooked things like that. (Franks and beans, using canned beans, was about as advanced as most of my friends got.) To this day, it's still one of my favorite beef dishes.

    Also made this when I still ate beef, both ways are awesome!

    This is my all-time favorite meal in the world. I make my slurry out of rice flour and water. I think because of the gluten makes the gravy stick to the meat. Shiitake mushrooms and I'm in heaven at midnight. Thanks a lot friend

      The first think that hit me about your channel was the basic home style you cook the food. You definitely have your own specific style. I love the fact that you use normal old fashion ingredients that anyone has in their kitchens. I think this channel deserves a lot more respect. Great channel.

    • @stevelogan5475
      @stevelogan5475 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@trishaepperson2187 it is a mix of 50% corn starch and 50% cold water, for the size Larry did here, 1 cup should be sufficient. All slurrys and rouxs are 50/50. So on this recipe 4oz. Of corn starch and 40z of water stirred together in a mixing glass should do fine. If it is not thick enough gravy you can always add more. I suggest in 4 0z total, 2 oz corn starch and 2oz water. Also on your first slurry pour, the gravy will not come to its full thickness until it starts to boil while stirring. I hope that helps you, have a good day

    Where have you been all my life. I’m a huge lover of salisbury steak, tried many recipes before but they all ended in failure, either meat too tough and chewy or gravy is off. But this....is spot on perfect. I only add 3/4 stick of butter to it, eat it with my killer mashed potatoes and i was in heaven. No need to order from restaurant no more. You have my gratitude my good man.
