'The Network' - I'm an old-school Beeb/Elk user since the early original days, but blimey, I didn't realise just how many "circular droids on adventures in caverns littered with platforms and enemies" type games there were for the system(s). Quite a few to say the least! 'Astro Plumber' has seeds of actually being a good game, but too many variables, or at very least, needed a gentle learning curve. Santa's Delivery reminds me, hazily, of an old Christmas programmes disk I had (possibly BBC only) with various mini Chrsitmassy games. Magazine listings style in quality; the usual dancing reindeer / Santa must delivery presents fare... but such a hazy recollection that I can't remember anything else than that. ....I'm pretty certain one game was to do with Christmas jumpers though! :D
Sorry Dave, but Network was always my personal fave of Peter Scott's platformers. Didn't have so much time for the others, but I did map this one out - and beat it - back in the day :> Definitely in your corner for Santa's Delivery though!
I used to have Enthar 7 on my Beeb. I bought it because I loved Level 9's 'Snowball' & 'Return to Eden' so much, but Enthar 7 didn't do it for me for some reason. I think it was because of the lack of any other life forms in the game.. It just makes it a bit dull when you don't encounter anything that speaks to you in such a vast game... Like having a novel with only one character. Plus the game was on floppy disk, which was accessed every time you entered a command... that slowed it down a lot.
'Snowball' and 'Return to Eden' were great - though the best in Level 9 (who produced them')s series was the awesome 'Lords of Time' (which I came so close to completing but never quite did!) Outside of Level 9, the Beeb had some outstanding text adventures. My favourite was always 'Wheel of Fortune' by Epic Adventures (though others, such as 'The Puppet Man' by Larsoft were also very enjoyable).
Of course! All old computers have a thriving homebrew scene. That's why there are mags like Retro Gamer and Micro's Computer Mart on the shelves.
Well nice to know my copy of Enthar Seven was still working.
Astro Plumber, picked this up on a holiday to Blackpool back in the day. Thought it was good but very very hard.
I WANT THAT PARTRIDGE GAME!
Yes, based on the second series of the show. Maybe they'll do one based on Alpha Papa too, when it comes out. You never know...

All new to me too :-)
