Snapper was one of the 5 Acornsoft games I got with my 'introductory package' when I first got my Electron, also randomly got it on ROM cartridge when I got an Acorn plus1 after a year or so - good game, but your version seems about x3 faster than I remember!!! Gisbournes castle, I (for some reason) have good memories of, although perhaps I am now seeing with Rose tinted specs! Seem to remember it cane with a 'copy proof' sheet of codes you had to enter, to prevent playground tape-2-tape copie
@raycourtsi I developed more of a soft spot for Gisburne's than previously after getting the Impact Games Club helpsheet for it. Still never got that close to finishing it even then, but it did help demystify a few things for me (not least finding where the castle is, and confirming that poisoned arrows work better in there).
Some of my all time favs there. I liked Gisbournes Castle and almost finished it. Combat Lynx was good but suffered from what you said. I seem to remember that landing was a pig to do.
3 of my all time favs on here. Gisburne's Castle Combat Lynx (hard but played it for many hours) and of course Snapper. Cant really add to what you said about Snapper a truly fantastic version of Pac-Man.
Another great review . I didn't think Gisburnes Castle was too bad in it's day , I played it for many hours myself . Though I concede it was a little repetetive . Ditto for Combat Lynx , which although difficult to master on the electron , proved to be a good game with perseverance . Whilst not as playable as the spectrum version (which I recall was v good) , the elk version was technically impressive . Has there been an Electron game , that took longer to load than Combat Lynx ?
@chrisha100 Man, I remember how long it took COMBAT LYNX to load from tape...! I think it filled up every byte of memory from about &B00 up to &5800 and then, just for good measure, it added a complete screen to the end of the code. I recall it was about &7200 in length...! (And the Elk had capacity for &7FFF). The only game that takes longer is EXILE.
@AcornElectronTV karate combat works on ElectrEm emulator, are you using Elkulator for it cos i cant get it to work on that, it gets past the loading screen then starts searching and goes no further.
Don't stop me now, don't stop me cause I'm having a good having a good time... That's why they call Mr Fahrenheit, I want to make a supersonic man out of you! (Queen 4:20)
Hello! I am having lots of trouble running my Acorn Electron EMulator. Magic Mushrooms won't run at all,Monsters runs a little bit but as soon as it starts there's only the game background and i lose a life randomly. There's no enemies and no music....Please help!
Please check out this link: www.everygamegoing.com/landing/items/pc_windows/tom_walker/download/Elkulator_1_0.html This should tell you all you need to know. Alternatively, I wrote a guide to BeebEm here: www.everygamegoing.com/landing/items/pc_windows/mike_wyatt/download/Beebem_4_14.html Either way, use the baby steps to get it working. Good luck! ;-)
yet Another great review and thanks for answering my request.

@thesman39 Couldn't do KARATE COMBAT though, it wouldn't work under emulation. Any more requests?

Magic Mushrooms resembles Mr. Robot (not the TV series) which isn't a bad thing.
