So happy to have found your channel! I love that you dont use super expensive parts for your builds, makes it so much more accessible to newcomers like me! Cheers!
Hey, this means a lot! Thanks 🙏🏼 I’m not made of money 🤣 I believe cycling should be accessible even when it comes to rebuilding and modifying. Cheers 🍻
I stumbled across your video, and ever since, I've been obsessed with this idea of a cargo minivelo, one thing - I'd add a internal gear hub with about 3 speeds
great job on this build. I am a Velo Orange Neutrino owner and I use mine for touring and commuting and I have her down pretty cherry. You did a great job with everything. great channel. Got yourself another subscriber.
You definitely should get a proper bearing press. 10:41 I also recommend using Loctite 243 on the caliper bolts and adapter. This will keep it secure for longer, even in rapid temp changes and hard braking, but of course it eventually will wear out. And buy regular bottle, not the tiny one, as it's not economically wise.
Awesome build, keep the quality content comming, also I've got a bucket of rusty crusty parts in my garden too, my "experiment" is to see how long it is until they return to the earth in which they came 🤣
That thing is sick. I personally would’ve went 1x10 or something like that, but the way you have it is dope. Such a unique and artful bike. I will be following your journey from now on!
Very cool build! Kudos on the singler derailleur work around, brilliant! I have mini velo I ride like I stole it with a grandma basket from Denmark. Cheers from Oslo.
I set my derailleur up as a tensioner in that exact same way on my Juventus.19t 3 speed hub, 3 front chainrings. 44,38,24. 9 speeds, makes for some good ratios.
Hi mate, Lovely build, got my hands on this bike as well and was thinking to put the same tyres as yourself. Do you think they would fit with mudguards that came with the bike? Thanks.
13:07 Interesting rack. I hope this works, I'm not how much this frame can handle. But likely fine. You are probably not going to overload it. Does it wobble as rubber coating wears? does it wear? is there a rubber coating or is it just painted black? Make sure it's not loose as it could compromise the frame over time.
Hey bud, thanks for switching me onto this bike, I’m still on the hunt! Starting to pull bits together, How much tyre clearance is at the the back? I’ve been pausing every shot of the back end in your video and I’m not the wiser 😂😂 thinking of the cheap ass kenda 2.25 possibly on a wider rim…
12:28 Any reason you went for Sqaure Taper cranks? what's your experience with Square Taper? So far all I had came loose as axle ate the crank. I've not seen SunRace cranks on a bike yet, yours is the first. Fun fact not a term Norwegians will use, as taper reads as loser. 😄 Also why no gears? Live in a flat area maybe? I live in Norway even non mountainous parts of the country have plenty of ups and downs.
Small wheels accelerate well, but lose speed, but I guess for heavy loads and short distances this makes sense. But the geometry, sizing is too much compromise for me to ride a Mini Veco. But 26er or 27.5 bike would probably be a better solution for my needs, but not sure how the bike will be, so far I'm in research stage.
11:18 Maybe the piston gets stuck so you think you locked the wheel and then it slips and moves. Maybe wire slips. Unlikely you did this mistake., but could be set it up with brake hose out of the barrel adjuster and then it popped in.
11:38 I'm not a fan of the Tektro mechanical disk brake caliper as it's single piston, you need to move the caliper in to then adjust the inside pad. But yes when set up properly they work nicely. With TRP (Tektro Racing Products) Spyke this is not an issue, as you can adjust each piston. But it has a bit firm return spring, at first it was very noticeable, but I got stronger fingers now. But they have very fragile barrel adjuster, it's too soft Alu, I hit it iwth my hand one my front brake by accident and it snapped off, ran it on a 170mm full suspension bike and the rear got bent when it was adjusted out. So if you try TRP Spyke, keep the barrel adjuster on the caliper all the way in.
What a wonderful build. I found your channel from this mini-series of your Velo build and subscribed because of! One note, if I may - the background music is a bit too noisy to properly hear you. It sounds like it’s the same volume level as your speech in this and other videos. Maybe consider lowering the volume?
Nice bike. I'm looking at turning a lightweight BMX bike into a geared mini-velo using cheap Aliexpress carbon fibre bars, stem, saddle, etc. Wish me luck
The decathlon rack isn't sold here anymore, but I know it because I have one on the back of my trike. I've modified it, some parts are welded on, removed the plastic slide part, but I do think it's well built. And so very light. Alu so can't rust . I guess it didn't sell well and got discontinued....
The problems with the squeeking brakes: You´ve used the washers, that were ment to be used with the Clarks. The tektro don´t need these, so as You built it, the clamp is sitting too high on the disc and a good pard of the brakepad is scratching on top of the disk, instead the whole pad bites the sides.
Maybe somebody else has already mentioned this but it looks to me like your headset tool just needs a longer threaded rod. Should be available at any good hardware store!
I can’t remember exactly. I may say in part 1 of the build but Spray.Bike have paint pens out now that are very good. www.graff-city.com/markers-c79/ink-markers-c140/permanent-markers-c221/spray-bike-sportpens-p5274
Copper compound is a grease with copper powder in it to keep threads from seizing. You shouldn't use it on bearing or anything that isn't threads. Also it can be expensive so even if it works normal grease is better for bearings and stuff. I know this video is old, and you probably have figured it out by now.
There's concerningly few videos about minivelos vs folding bikes. I personally have no idea what's the benefit of a minivelo, a folder seems like a clear winner here, utility-wise?
Minivelo are smaller and therefore take up less space in a garage or appartement. They are nimbler in urban use. Finally, their weight is less than larger bikes and also folding bikes. The later are heavier because of the hinges and other features needed to strengthen their frames.
You shouldn't grease the outer spindle before you put your cranks on. It seems like it would make them easier to take off next time, but it actually does the opposite. It allows the cranks to slide too far onto the spindle, especially if they are used and a little bit worn, and they get wedged up too tight with the recommended amount of torque. It makes them a nightmare to take back off. If you find yourself needing to use the breaker bar on the crank puller, that's probably why. I always degrease the outer spindle and the cranks before I put them on, and put just a little grease or anti-seize on the threads of the bolt. Do that, and you will have a much better time taking them back off.

I wish you was my neighbour so I can Harass you about bikes all day, love the build

Love your art on the frame! Very Keith Haring, in refreshing ways!
Looks so cool
Mint sauce! 👍
100 points. 🤙🏼
Recently been buying some retro mint sauce bits for the nostalgia 😎
That's a beauty, and I really like your style of presenting as well.

That’s a very cool build. Thanks for sharing the whole process!
Rad build❤
Fantastic build, love the utility of the bike and hell yes, the style. Keep up the good work.
Cheers! It’s been wicked for the shopping!! 😎
A stick of all-thread, some washers and nuts can be used as an improvised cup installer. No need to wake the kids or damage the races or bearings.
love watching this builds
Awesome bike, I’ve recently started to love cargo bikes. I have no need for one but I enjoy seeing them.
They are the best!!
The bike looks fantastic!

I have BMX bars on an old MTB and the cross bar is great for hanging a small back pack from.
Would you happen to have a link to that front rack? Thank you.
bike came out really good and looks fun to ride
It definitely feels different but yes super fun!! 🙌🏼
I love this build absolute brilliant I have a folding carrera but want one of these mini velos aswell AWESOME 👌
Super cool bike! Definitely opening my mind up to some really interesting restoration projects … 😁

more mini velo builds 🔥🚴🇵🇭!

Looks like a solid price/usability ratio. 👍
Yeah with the 20 inch wheels you need a taller ratio on the cogs for the same "effective" ratio as a bigger wheel.
Yeah I had no idea until I did it. Makes perfect sense now! 🤣

It looks like the rare brake is only catching on the outer diameter of the disc. Might have been the problem with the clarks too?

I had the same problem with the same brakes and I still have no idea how I could have improved it.

I had this front rack. It is not comfortable to use. Only sall packets. Collision with handlebar.

It’s been discontinued. It was from decathlon. They replaced it with something similar but not as good.
