Yes I've only recently changed my mind re keren I've been studying her work and it's taken me a wee while to work out that keren had a few more things about her than the other two ✌
Keren has always been the least talented girl of all Bananarama and she was the one insisting on rather sticking with SAW than doing something artistically and musically interesting
They down to earth sexiest and best female band this country has ever had .been a supporter since they charts .they are naturally in every way .they don't even seem to realise that there professional apt of being natural is what makes them so sexy .and successfull.what a fantastic group !

Trick of the night is a brilliant, true pop ballad, too bad the girls could not heavily promote it back then, it should have been a smash hit all around the world
Jacquie did a great job filling Siobhan's place. It was a great opportunity but very hard for her. She was always the "new girl". I love Siobhan though
Excellent TV Show!!!!! ..... But it is missing, in the first part, when the girls talk about their second album. I have this part on VHS. Thanks for uploading so much
I saw them in concert last year, front row, siobhan was with them. They have obviously patched things up and were getting along wonderfully, Keren and Sara sang Siobhan’s “Stay” with her, and she was singing their songs. Keren called Siobhan a few years ago, saying she missed her, and wanted to go on tour with her.
I like Siobhan in Shakespears Sister better. " Stay" is a change of pace more suited to my Gothic vibes but it's really her as a brunette that I like the most.
Karen and.Sara were smart enough to evolve their personal music taste to evolve with their new fan base and learnt to embrace the pure pop and dance direction. Ska and punk had had its day by the mid-80s and there was no point trying to hold onto that ethos. The girls were having babies by now and so too were their contemporaries who they used to stomp around the punk scene with. Only their gay mates were still partying by 1987-8, the straights had moved on to baby carriages and mortgages, not hanging out at malls shopping for records. Their sound had to go younger where the singles buying market was. Waterman was 100% right on the money with his advice to go pop for the next gen of teenagers.
The NEW LOOK Bananarama wasn't the bananarama ethos anymore. As big of a fan I am I still find it odd that years later, Keren in particular said how she hated being told what to do but loves the WOW period.
Pete Waterman tried to help Bananarama's career? PLEASE... Before SAW Bananarama were PERFECTION! Bananarama clowning around is what was their MAGIC! It created creativity in itself
Stock, Aiken, Waterman were like MSG to every dish. Tastes all the same and boring. They may have taken Bananarama the opportunity to evolve. Maybe that's a bold statement, but every SAW produced artist went south after the hype was over.
After Siobhan left..the music got progressively more pop lite and sugary. No edge or Originality. They lost their outsider attitude & uniqueness musically. We're lucky to have the first 4 albums.
I'd add "Please Yourself" to the list. I think it was even more sophisticated and sparkling than "Wow!". There is such a polish on those songs, the production is so advanced. "Pop Life" was not a good one for me. But I consider "Please Yourself" to be superb.
Such a great band. All our summers. Probably Keren's worst haircut and Sarah is absolutely stunning. It's a pity they don't tour with Jacqui now. She was such an asset.
I always loved Siobhan but I adored Jacquie too. Loved the group up to the phenomenal Viva album. Sadly the last two are piss poor and to me have sounded like albums full of songs they'd once have thrown in the bin.
Love In The First Degree would have went to No.1 and I Can’t Help It would have done better than No. 20 had Sibohan been available to do the promotion on TOTP etc. However as she was frustrated with SAW over writing Strike It Rich on the Wow album, I can see why she didn’t want to continue.
A quality version, NICE! Ughhh, the new look Bananarama was horrendous however! No Siobhan is no Bananarama, but when Jacquie left it was a relief. This period is where their music suffered, all their DIY and artistic creativity GONE. Lucky they got it back on Pop Life x
Surprised they ignored their biggest most famous hits (Robert De Niro's waiting and Cruel Summer) to talk about tosh like trick of the night and i wan't you back. what were they thinking.
You do remember that I Want You Back Was Top 5 in the UK charts right, I agree about Trick of the Night, I don't even remember that song. Would you be in America as Cruel Summer was bigger there than in the UK.
@@gatekeeperboxing5898 I'm a Londoner, Trick of the night was a minor hit in 85, Cruel Summer was my anthem through 83, even though i was only 8 at the time .

I have been loving Bananarama since my childhood, I am one of their devoted fans. But I still find it sad that after the first three singles they did with SAW, SAW took over them, they started producing ordinary pop music, their talent and creativity has been since surpressed and any chance they had to be taken seriously. Now, after so many years, I know, it has been Keren the one who was very pleased with this easy way of making records, she talked Sara full into this, since they were childhood friends, and Siobhan quitted the band, because she was more creative than main stream pop. That was for me the end of the Bananarama. Keren and Sara insist until today on this safe pop tunes, with Jacky they last tried to become again creative, with the pop life album (1989-91), but after that until today they drive into the road of ordinary, mediocre pop. It is sad, because they can be far more creative than that, they would have had a longer successful career in the charts and they would have changed faces many times, similar to Madonna. Well, it was all Keren's way .
@@glamnesianouveaux2039 Agree totally. Keren, so gorgeous ; my favorite Bananarama by far !

@@triadafillos1excuse me? She at least is an accomplished piano player. Next to the fact that she was drop dead gorgeous.

Absolutely Amazing!! LOVE IT!!
I’ve had a thing for women with dimples in their chin for my entire life....Now I realise where it started. Keren 😍😍😍

Imagine how many other women looking like her working for the BBC...!
I saw this on TH-cam a long time ago but was taken down? Always remembered it because of the back drop of the grey, grey, grey London sky!
OMG..teenage dreams...xx
Pete Waterman looks young for a 41 year old in the 80s.
For some reason it really has a "This is England" vibe.
Yes, Keren and Bananarama.
Wish they're was an updated documentary citing the 1989 tour to Jacs leaving and Keren & Sarah carrying on a duo to Shivers making a brief comeback
where are you? How you doing? I love Bananarama. wow!! My youth time.
Bananarama (Sara Dallin, Keren Woodward, Siobhan Fahey, Jackie O'Sullivan)

What did they say about the second album as I think its stunning
Was this Cruel Summer and Robert DeNiro is Waiting? Was like why weren’t these songs mentioned, they were the first Nana songs I ever heard!
The girls come from Downend Bristol Sarah and Keren that is ..Keren was always a looker even at school.
I remember watching this as a kid when it was on and kept thinking poor keren and her hair troubles, why do in a windy rooftop
😂
Siobhan reminds of a marriage gone wrong at the start it was innocent but by the end her and the other two realised they were different people
I saw them in concert last year, front row, siobhan was with them. 🐮🎹🎸🎸🎸wonderfull voice, performance and songs🎙🎙🎧🎧
Sarah's hair was lovely, even if it covered her beautiful face, bananarama were the sexiest girl band.😀
Given all that starch they convert to glycol, and the fact they're weakly radioactive (seriously, look it up), I never thought of bananas as sexy. 😉
The NEW LOOK Bananarama wasn't the bananarama ethos anymore. As big of a fan I am I still find it odd that years later, Keren in particular said how she hated being told what to do but loves the WOW period.

Exactly. They were a young carefree group of girls making cool music until SAW took over them
Seeing the early videos of Bananarama...it seemed more avante garde..so I can see Sibohan being disillusioned by 1987/8...and leaving.
Stock, Aiken, Waterman were like MSG to every dish. Tastes all the same and boring. They may have taken Bananarama the opportunity to evolve. Maybe that's a bold statement, but every SAW produced artist went south after the hype was over.
