HAPPY DECEMBER 4TH EVERYONE!!! Instead of participating in Vlogmas this year, i'll be dedicating all my December uploads to THRIFTMAS! I'll be posting daily vlogs in the lead up to Christmas, and all my content will have some sort of Thrifty theme!!! Videos like.... Thrift flip, thrift haul, thrift with me, thrift makeover, thrift store challenge, Christmas thrift, anything and everything I can think of to get into the holiday spirit while keeping costs low and keeping my consumption sustainable!
In todays video, I show you all the items that I purchased when I spent $300 on the Salvos Online Store, and my friends come over to help me photograph the items i'll be listing on Depop for charity!

This is the long awaited "Alex's Friends Appreciation Video" featuring Grace, Michelle and Shelly predominately. I'd definitely love to see that 'Perfect' series (the perfect dress etc for every body shape). I know other people have made them before, but honestly I never get tired of having a diverse range of people trying on the same (or similar) items to see how the look varies from person to person.

I can't stress how body-confident/positive this video made me feel. All of Alex's friends look incredible and makes me want to wear that tight-fitting jumper dress or short skirt sitting in my wardrobe... It's one thing for brands to use photos of (mainly only 2) different body types, but it's another to see actual humans trying clothes on in a human way.
Especially when those humans seem so amazing and genuine. I can't stress how happy I am to see Alex part of such a wonderful friend group , and can only hope that everyone will get to experience a similar kind of friendship.

Yes and when one of her friends mentioned that they didnt have shoes to match the dress she was wearing well she just motioned to her shoes and said look though mine. It was so simple but such a generous person. She deserves all her good fortune 👏

As someone who has been in their fair share of toxic friend groups, they're so wholesome. I love how they compliment each other and help sort out what suits who in a positive and encouraging way, never putting anyone down. I really hope I find this someday because everyone deserves this 💜

We is the US definitely know the “unexpected item in the bagging area” pain 😂. During the self-checkout boom this year and last a lot of shops had to do away with the weighted bagging area and now when I accidentally go to one that still has it 🔪 🔪 🔪

Wherever I go, they have the weighted bagging area! It's especially frustrating when I'm trying to scan items and my lovely children are trying to "help" (they're 4 and 5) and put weight on the bagging area.
I haven't gotten through much of the video yet, just the gardening bits, and I wanted to let you (and anyone else) know that if you're having a pest problem, you can actually usually buy a ton of live ladybugs at gardening stores/nurseries. You can also buy an unhatched praying mantis nest cluster. Praying mantises may look scary but they're harmless and they eat lots of bad bugs from aphids to mosquitoes! Also if you're ever having an issue with tomato hookworms instead of using pesticides you can just buy a tobacco plant and relocate them onto that, they will eat that over your tomatoes.

Not only that but you can still grow vegetables in some places in the usa and also there are fall and winter herbs and vegetables , in texas my grandma had romatoes and jalepinos that grew and ripened year round until it snowed and then 3 weeks later they popped back up and started ripening again that march . But yeah australia is different season
Oh, this video makes me so happy but so sad too. Chronic kidney disease and pain has stolen my life and most of my friends - this video both gave me wonderful memories of times like this with my lot, but also made me feel so lonely as I never get to see anyone or do anything any more.
You and all your friends seem like total sweethearts - such positive and loving people.

Grace..shes one of my favorites, and i wish she knew just how much MOST american women covet that type of shape/will pay grands just to get her type of hip shape...shes absolutely beautiful in my honest opinion. and speaking as an ex-cosmo, she doesnt need skims!! her natural frame is absolutely flawless, and i personally would give anything to have that frame and not be so oversized...i hope she knows shes beautiful just the way she is..she will never need shapewear. shes so incredibly lucky, i really hope she knows that

Just a little tip with all the plastic bags you receive - coles has little recycling bins at the front of the store where you can recycle soft plastics! I just collect all my online shopping bags and then bring it to Coles when I can! You might already know this but it makes me feel much less guilty about all my online shopping packaging going to landfill :)

Red cycle bins can be found at the front of every store. Also if you do the delivery option you can return your plastic bags with the driver and we will put them in the red cycle bin when we return to store.
This might be a silly question, but, could you not reuse shipping packaging? It's becoming more common in North America at least :)
Every household here has their own plastic bin. Like the big container that you have in the front yard. We have one for plastics, one for paper, one divided bin for greens and non recycling.
I love seeing all of you having such fun together. All of your friends are wonderful. It makes me so nostalgic for when I had friends, in college... it's so hard to make friends as an adult. Treasure them!
Honestly just be straight forward, talk to more people while you’re out and about, compliment something they’re wearing or bring up what you’re doing etc, and if they seem cool ask if they would want to grab coffee sometime

There's some not so nice comments on this vid which makes me sad because seeing you with your friends and how lovely your relationships are is really beautiful and I'm sure I speak for a lot of your viewers it makes me really happy and hopeful to watch! I don't have many irl friends, and while the couple I do have mean everything to me there's something so heart warming about a large group of like minded people who support each other, so it's fun to live vicariously through these videos a bit! Plus I just love daily/life style videos that also incorporate fashion or beauty like this because I also love things like gardening and plants, food, skincare, pets so seeing all that stuff mixed in is so much more enriching to watch than just fashion videos (even though I'm sure most of us came to you because of your fashion!) anyway I hope you're doing well and that spending time with friends is helping your anxiety! I also have GAD and spending time with loved ones really puts my mind in the present moment and lessens the anxiety (usually) so I'm really glad you can see your friends again. Merry Thriftmas Alex!
Michelle at 28.7 looked soooo good that dress style, color and fit was PERFECT!!! She looked amazing!!! and those black high heeled boots were the cherry on top!! OMG thank you Alex for all your content TH-cam, Instagram exc.... I am currently using a gas station outside outlet to charge my phone as I binge watch all your old vids. I lost everything when I was diagnosed with SCLC( small cell lung cancer) during the beginning of 2020 right before the world fell apart. I lost my job,my home, and son because I couldn't financially care for him and lost my insurance.even with all that your videos always cheer me up no matter what crappy thing is happing outside of the phone screen . I usually get a small blob of dish soap in some lukewarm water in a jug and tip it on my plants that have aphids, it washes them off and then you're not putting horrible chemicals on what you're going to eat ^-^
I've seen a lot of comments lately hating on Alex's clothing and hair, but I'm living for the style exploration! I guess so many people are just used to the pastel branding, but as someone who often flirts with cute styles and then quickly returns to my gothpunk roots, I can definitely relate to Alex's fashion experimentation. Once you've been a 14 year old emo kid, it never truly leaves you and I definitely see that reflected in her! It's all under the alt umbrella anyways, so I encourage Alex wholeheartedly~ I also love seeing her friends in videos, everyone's so nice!
