I'm new to Minecraft and got into it because of my son. I recently decided i want to build a castle in my world and of course it needs a gate. Your tutorial was amazing and helpful. i had a few hiccups along the way but i managed to figure it out. once I managed to finish the build and see the finished product I was happy to say the least. Instant subscriber here :)
Still works on bedrock but found it kept spitting out the last 3 blocks instead of pulling them down. Found a solution though, it just needs a slight tweak on the part where he places 2 observers for the final extension at 9:21 I replaced those with full blocks (as they had 2 repeaters on top later) And put an observer coming out of the other side with a sticky piston then a red stone block in front of it. I then linked it up to the front line of red stone leaving a gap between the red stone block and the redstone dust. Hope this helps someone as it baffled me for an hour. Edit: Great Vid btw fit nicely in my new medieval town 😉👍
@@Naga-Rajahard to explain but at 9:21 he places an observer you ignore this and instead follow what I did below You have to go to the opposite side and place the observer onto the piston the same as he did but make sure it’s on the other side Then have that observer power a sticky piston that pushes a redstone block into that front line of redstone For me this fixed the timings and made it more consistent

I kept testing it while building to see if it was going to work (a dumb habit but also I'm paranoid about builds in bedrock) and it didn't work during phases that seemed separate and doable on their own. BUT WHEN THE WHOLE THING IS BUILT TOGETHER IT 100% WORKS. Thank you man, you're a lifesaver and absolute legend

Gotta decorate it later so I’m hoping another creeper doesn’t come by and destroy it again (that’s why I needed a new one, someone blew up my old gate) Also that lock is really cool and helpful, I really love it cuz this dude keeps going through my place so I can lock him out :)
Only one I've found that still works as of Nov '22. Had to work in a design with the observer arrows, and changed the button/ lever areas, but it WORKS! unlike most of the other vids I have found...
If anyone is having the closing mechanism not work as it’s only going down by 1 or 2 rows, I fixed this by changing the observer that’s on the sticky piston on the red stone torch tower to a red stone block. It seemed to fix it for me and it’s closing fully.
This almost works, however it makes the "back" button only open up 2 high instead of 3. If its not pushing up 3 blocks its something with the bottom circuits not the torch tower.
I love this so much, and I finally got it to SOMEWHAT work. I had to make the fence a little shorter due to building this in an already constructed gate. The only issue I have, is one button successfully does the up/down.. but the other only does the up and cannot do the down. The one that is failing is the button by the line of observers. It seems to be trying to do up and down at the same time. Luckily this doesn’t effect how i want to use it too much, as the side that doesn’t close is going to be less used. Edit: wow okay, I commented too soon! Lol. After checking a third time, I was missing the block that connects the observer to the button. Everything works great now!
Your gate was liturely perfect for my mega base castle. This is hell the best gate tutorial. I am thankful the 2 high gate tutorial didn’t work, this made me search for a better one and thus found yours. I wish you the very best and hope I will need one of your tutorials again soon.
Will admit, I do kinda wish there was a way to put that row of observers on the sides instead of the front or back of the door, just so you could walk through while it is opening. But still great non the less.

I’ve made this door and now when I press the button on the side of the machine or when I use the button up at the entrance, it gets stuck engaged with all red stone lit up. I’ve done it exactly but I’ve had nothing but problems with this door
hi for your next tutorial can you please slow down just a bit. youre moving reallyt fast and there are a lot of moving parts. also please say which side of the gate you are on multiple times because most times i couldnt see which side so i made the door a bit backwards. I had to redo this 3 times and it still doesnt work :( 100% my fault but i really like your door and i want to get it right
I love the way you've done this and it definitely works, I did mess up partly due to builder error, but at points I did find it confusing of which was the back and front as it wasn't always obvious, I love your tutorial and I'll definitely try again hopefully without mistakes

This build didn't work for me at first in the latest version, but if you replace the two observers he places at 9:20 with any full block, while keeping the repeaters he later places on top, you should just be able to place these two observers and a piece of redstone dust at the other side of the gate, still connecting to the top line of pistons, just at the other side. If you're still confused, reply to this and I can try and elaborate more. Hope this helps!
@@leahlaperry8095 So the observers that he places on the right hand side of the gate (if you're looking from the front) place those in the same spot, just at the left hand side of the gate instead. Basically mirror where they are, and replace the originals with full blocks. If you're still confused I could send you a picture on discord if you have that.
Hot Dang! It works as of Windows 10 bedrock v1.19.51!!! The height of the torch tower can be a little wonky for lining up with the top but can easily be addressed by doing a couple of red stone torches into the side of the block as opposed to on top. Great vid for getting a product that works in bedrock! Tried so many that failed!

ok first slow it down and fully explain what is happening and don't have so many cuts in the video it's hard to fallow what is happening so people end up rewinding it trying to figure it out and end up wasting more time than if it was 20 minutes long and well explained and easy to fallow. I will say it's pretty good.
The only thing I’d suggest is listing either in the description or in the video what each item is. I’m using a texture at the moment which makes it very difficult to find the items without knowing their names. 😅

Make the actual gates out of Netherite blocks. EXTREMELY expensive, I know, but they’re very hard to mine through, explosive proof, and can actually be moved by piston, unlike obsidian. Plus they look and sound cool af as gates.
So for some reason, both buttons only make it go up, and I can’t get the gate to go down no matter how many times I click it. I did everything exactly the same, except I had to put red stone dust where the torch under the hopper is or it wouldn’t work. Any suggestions?
It works on creative for me but doesn’t on survival and I’m playing on bedrock 1.19 on survival it won’t push up the fence all the way up and I’ve rebuilt it 5 times

Great build but awful presentation. Slow down and actually show what stages should look like when complete rather than just jumping back and forward constantly.
Mine doesn’t work when it pushes up some of the top pistons get pushed out of place and it doesn’t get pushed down as nothing happens when I push the button
It worked but I did something wrong so i rebuild just the redstone part and now the hopper is constantely spitting out the item does anyone know what to do?
I got the whole thing working and was super stoked but then when i tried covering it up i replaced some of the yellow blocks that weren’t being used for anything and I replaced the ground block to match my castle look is when it stopped working and i tried going back and figuring it out but i gave up and deleted the whole thing.
Edit: figured it out! The step when placing the hoppers may be basic to some -- but when you place your hopper on top of the block, the funnel wants to go DOWN. You need to make sure the hopper tubes connect to one-another. For me, I had to eliminate the block the hopper was resting on and re-place it, and then the hoppers fed each-other and the system worked flawlessly. Thanks Tomco! Okay, so I was able to redo my work on the bottom mechanism and get the retraction to work as noted. I have run into some issues powering the buttons appropriately to get the mechanism to work, though. If you get a few minutes, I uploaded a video showing my build (pardon the terrible video recorded from my phone). It seems that the entirety of the issue I am having is that the item does not want to pass from hopper A to hopper B, switching the signal. I am wondering if there may be a work-around for this, but I just built this again and can confirm it is not working. If I manually activate the top circuit, it works -- and same with the bottom. This is independent of the 'lock' mechanism, though I may try to bypass it and see if that fixes the issue?

Built it on Nintendo Switch, added it to a castle design by BlueNerd (Had to raise the wall a few blocks to hide the pistons)

after 24 hours of tinkering, got it. Make sure you make the gate the full 8 blocks high if you copy everything else haha

Thanks, I saved the final build with a structure block so anytime I need a gate I just load it up. The test button works great to reset that too.

Also, if I put a torch at the top of the tower, it works. So I’m pretty sure everything else is correct

well my average CTR ranges from 10%-20%, i dont let it drop below 10. And then depending on what type of video is it the AVD is like 4 mins

Mine doesn’t work when it pushes up some of the top pistons get pushed out of place and it doesn’t get pushed down as nothing happens when I push the button

It worked but I did something wrong so i rebuild just the redstone part and now the hopper is constantely spitting out the item does anyone know what to do?

I got the whole thing working and was super stoked but then when i tried covering it up i replaced some of the yellow blocks that weren’t being used for anything and I replaced the ground block to match my castle look is when it stopped working and i tried going back and figuring it out but i gave up and deleted the whole thing.
It still works till this day

Edit: figured it out! The step when placing the hoppers may be basic to some -- but when you place your hopper on top of the block, the funnel wants to go DOWN. You need to make sure the hopper tubes connect to one-another. For me, I had to eliminate the block the hopper was resting on and re-place it, and then the hoppers fed each-other and the system worked flawlessly. Thanks Tomco!
Okay, so I was able to redo my work on the bottom mechanism and get the retraction to work as noted. I have run into some issues powering the buttons appropriately to get the mechanism to work, though.
If you get a few minutes, I uploaded a video showing my build (pardon the terrible video recorded from my phone). Any input is appreciated as I have gone through 3-4 times but feel there must be something I am not getting quite right. Cheers!

It seems that the entirety of the issue I am having is that the item does not want to pass from hopper A to hopper B, switching the signal. I am wondering if there may be a work-around for this, but I just built this again and can confirm it is not working. If I manually activate the top circuit, it works -- and same with the bottom. This is independent of the 'lock' mechanism, though I may try to bypass it and see if that fixes the issue?
Enter crouch mode to bypass the hopper use screen an place 2nd hopper facing the first.
