I have to give Letitia huge credit for taking the task of going from supporting character to being the emotional center of the movie. She did it incredibly it's my second favorite movie of the year

I'll never complain about a movie with "too long" a run time. Much preferred for me, as opposed to "too short", and lacking needed elements. In total agreement regarding Winston Duke! Loved him as an actor, since his portrayal of "Mini" on "Person of Interest"! Thanks for the review! Love your channel!

      @ElectroPopSelection 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Very few people remember his role in Person of Interest, and I enjoyed his performance in that! Thanks for pointing it out. I kind of feel bad for the way they handled his character (sniper shot). After that big climax, he deserved a better death than that.

Nah. Bloat can severely, if not irreparably, damage the narrative, tension, flow, and overall enjoyment of films. From the last James Bond, No Time To Die (which admittedly had other problems too) to the otherwise excellent Blade Runner 2049, there are tons of films that are screaming to have 10 to 20 minutes shaved off. Knowing what to leave out is as essential as knowing what to leave in.

@@ElectroPopSelection Good point regarding how his arc concluded! Amazingly composed, and nuanced character performance! In a show stuffed with an embarrassment of talent, Mr Duke rose to the occasion!

Has the MCU really leaned too much on comedy in phase 4, though?
    More on the serious side:
    WandaVision (?)
    Falcon And Winter Soldier
    Loki
    Black Widow
    Shang-Chi
    Eternals
    Hawkeye
    Moon Knight
    Ms. Marvel
    Doctor Strange 2
    Werewolf By Night
    More on the comedy side
    Thor: Love And Thunder
    She-Hulk

Really enjoyed the movie! I agree it did feel too long and T'challa's presence is clearly missed but nonetheless the rest of the cast delivered. I still do think as much as Shuri's character is great, the character can't take centre stage in the same way as T'challa, she still is a supporting character for me. Haven’t seen the movie yet, but my big worry with Namor going is a lot of what made him a neat character has been done by characters that came later but their movies first. Aquaman being the big one, but he was really the first comic book antihero. Be interested to see how they handle him.

Spoilers alert!!: In the climax fight when ShuRiri gets destroyed cause of being tired and blown fuse, Naymore asks Wakandans "are there no one else?". We hear its morbing time by undercover Morbeus and he says " Bats fly Fish die" fighting and destroying Naymore. Turns out the blue blood is in the sea people all along and being a avid Sushi eater Morbeus enjoys killing them and drinking their blood ending the war.
The after credits scene Morbeus makes a joke of women not having hair ala GI Jane, Hancock shows up and chases Morbeus to slap him to the moon. I cant wait for epic Morbeus vs Hancock fight.

Great comments Kristian. I personally have no issues with long movies.. in fact, the longer the better because I feel I am getting my money's worth. I recently watched this in imax and the ticket by itself nearly cost usd20 . So longer movies are better.
But I really like this movie personally. Just like you I found the phase 4 offerings are bit too jokey and lighthearted - I can close an eye for D+ series, but Thor4 was a major letdown in terms of humour; I felt that Taika was given too much free reign - so BP2 was a breath of fresh air. In short I think the cast gave a stellar performance and brought their grief for Chadwick Boseman into their performances... Although some story plots left my head scratching, especially the 3rd act. I think Ryan George nailed it best in his pitch meeting of this movie. 😅

I think Ryan Coogler handled this uphill battle as best as he could. Hats off to him. Not a perfect film. But this film needed to be made. The circumstances behind this film were unique, especially for a superhero film, as it marries real life tragedy with fictional tragedy and Ryan did a stellar job at exploring many stages of grief.. including sadness, revenge, retribution, misplacing blame, and finally... letting go. Well done.
As for Namor, he may have been my favorite part of this film. His background, his culture and most of all.. his vulnerability.. all of thus makes you draw closer to him.
With all of that being said, I need to sit on this film for a while. I dont think Im rush back out to see it right away. Emotionally it's very heavy.

I think the movies wouldn’t be so disappointing for people if there weren’t also a million mediocre Disney+ shows coming out constantly. I mean, don’t get me wrong, some of the shows are decent. But there are just so many that it’s draining and makes the movies more disappointing when they don’t deliver.

Here is a little peek behind the curtain on why in certain Marvel movies some characters get limited screen time even though they are popular.
Marvel writes up their contracts in such a way that if you are on screen for less than a certain percentage of time or have less than a certain amount of lines you are paid for a "cameo" which is less than an actors usual rate. This may explain why M'Baku was not in the movie as long as we might have liked. ✌🏾✌🏾

I’m going to see Black Panther 2 this Friday opening night! It’s going to be an awesome movie! Namor is Marvel’s version of Gaston from Beauty and The Beast. He tried to steal Reed Richard’s wife Sue Richards, and he ruined T’Challa and Storm’s marriage. Tenoch definitely challenged Namor here, and I can’t to see his performance. He’s an antihero for a reason. He’s a prick, a homewrecker, and a jerk in the MCU and in the comics 🤣🤣

Time to suck it up my peoples. You grieve, you heal, and then it’s time TO GO MAKE THE BIG DECISIONS. Why in the he🏒🏒 didn’t management step in on this? If Moore or Coogler _couldn’t_ (as they both said in an interview) see another in the role to succeed Boseman that casting wasn’t an option FOR THEM, then they should have been taken off the project and told “thank you but we must move on” (eventually). Based on an interview I saw Coogler do, I don’t think he should have even directed THIS movie. That dude was straight up still traumatized, just grieving. Nah, they shoulda benched this squad, told this story as a Disney + series, and recast for T’Challa in mid phase 5 or something. This is a travesty.

They had an immense task to go beyond Chadwick and I think they did not achieve it.
It felt like listening to Queen with Adam Lambert instead of Freddie Mercury.
It's fine, but just not as good as the original and *spoiler* feels like an imposter. Lacks the charisma altogether

Ocean man throws water balloons like a pokemon bro they had no tech riding on whales. I was thinking...how were they threatening, is this a joke? In all seriousness this was just a miss for me, did not stick the landing. The stakes are incredibly low. It’s hard to become invested in a story and the idea of Namor as a villain when there are no consequences whatsoever. Everyone knew Wakanda wasn’t going to fall, or that no notable characters were going to die, or suffer any tragedy that could be used as character development. This saps the life out of the movie, and makes it seem pointless.

I'm very curious to see how Ironheart is introduced. It may have worked better in a Wakanda show, highlighting the outreach/exchange centers introduced at the end of the first film. That could have included a few notable tech geniuses, including Shuri, Riri and Bruno from Ms Marvel. But, I'm looking forward to seeing her in this.

This was a good film. Folks complaining are just sensitive that it contained snippets of America's past treatment of minorities and they didn't anticipate that it would be in the film because the trailers had no indicators and they were caught off guard and couldn't explain it to their new millennial children.

I didnt care for the original Black Panther as much as many others did. Mostly cause I wasn't a big fan of the story where T'Challa died then came back. It was a little weird especially how it was done. I didn't want him to ever die at all. I liked Black Panther but didn't love it. I was a big fan of Chadwick Boseman though seeing his last movie 21 Bridges and wished I could of see more of him. I feel bad he's not with us anymore. This Wankanda Forever movie though I'm a little more excited for cause it seems intriguing and maybe a better story to me. I know it's two different movies than the first but it looks at least more entertaining. I also like Michael B. Jordan and him as an actor in other movies like Just Mercy wasn't crazy about him in original. R.i.p. Chadwick Boseman.
