When they re-do the Model Y, I'd like to see a slightly lifted "Outback" version, as well as an "El Camino" version where the rear is replaced by a bed and aerodynamic-tonneau ... either a four-door with a short-bed, or a 2-door with a long bed. Then they don't need to worry about making a smaller Cybertruck, and if they stretch the Y a bit they could also get rid of the old Model X. But I'd keep the Model S as a sexy show-car. 🙂
If they lower the 0-60 time to less than 3s and add decent brakes I honestly believe it can beat the Plaid on Nurburg because of much lower weight and smaller profile
@larryc1616 The drag strip has honestly become boring for me, we already know that EVs will no doubt beat any ICE car, but on Nurburg it's still a battle to see who's the best and I don't see that changing for a dacade at least. There will always be a new car that will beat the previous despite the drivetrain.
Will my 2018 model 3 Performance holds the record up Piles Peak in 2020 in the Stock condition with Roll cage, sticky tires, upgraded brake pads and fluid Only. Still holds the title today.
The only feature I miss and that was announced at model 3 launch -- long long time ago -- is the air suspension. I don't need a faster model 3, mine has been in chill mode for the last 6 years, but adjusting ground clearance would be nice, eg to handle some slopes, to enter some car parks, to drive on some roads, when my 82 years old mother-in-law enters or leaves the car, and I guess to have even better efficiency on long trips. But if some people want a Ludicrous model 3, I guess Tesla is ok to build one. However I do not see how a not so useful ultra performance model 3 can be better in Tesla's catalog than 5, 6 and 7 seats cars.
I reckon this will be more of a track day focused car, since the popularity of tracking M3P has grown a lot, especially with the aftermarket tuning options. My best guess is it will have a 0-60mph in 2.9s *with 1ft rollout deducted. Starting price $60K and have a range of 380mi.
I have a Tesla model 3 since 2018, it was perfect with 3 children, it is less perfect now there are older. Not a big issue since at some point we will not go on vacation as a family. My point is that the models 3 and Y can carry 4 adults, the model S 5 adults, and the model X up to 7 adults. So all cars have there place, even if driving and parking huge cars in Europe (and UK) can be challenging.
I was dreaming of a Model X someday for my growing family... until they cancelled Right hand drive that is! They'll squish nicely into the new Model 3 instead!
Good points about the S and X. But I don't want to see them go I think they could upgrade them both (but don't ask me how since they are already fantastic EV's).
By guess is that it will have a 300-315 range and 0-60 in 2.9 or 3.0 sec.since they seem to be using the same batteries like the long range. Can't wait for the specs to be published soon.
Its hard to know. Likely you are right and they will sunset the S/X once the full M3 and MY highland refresh is completed. The only advantage that the S/X now bring are bragging rights to say you spent too much on your car. I've driven a Model S, MY, and highland M3, and if I was offered any for free, I would take the new M3 all day long.
I agree. model S and X sales don't move the needle and take resources away from the development of newer mass market vehicles. Besides, I want a cheap, used S!
I doubt Tesla is at all concerned about canibalizing low volume S and x, especially plaid versions. I think Tesla simply wants to push the highest volume, without regard to consequences. I do think 3L will be kind of expensive at first, until production ramps to volumes that will require lower pricing to sell out in 16 days post manufacturing.
It’s not a zero sum game. The S and X can exist with all the other models. I doubt the resources gained from deleting them would have any noticeable effect on other models. And there great test beds for new features
true since all Model Y's in europe are either coming from giga berlin or shanghai. Never fremont or austin so far. And if u look how many Model S and X's they produced its just a fart for tesla if they would delete them lol
Even at it's lighter weight I can't see the dual motor M3P with an estimated 700hp beat the MSP with tri-motors and 1020hp. Cheetah stance. I do have lots of respect for the new M3P. I have a 23 M3LR now that I plan on trading in as soon as the new M3P is available. I think it looks great and am hoping for a 2.9 sec 0-60. I did demo drive a MS a couple weeks ago (there were no Plaids available), and even though I liked it the price point for me just isn't worth it compared to what I would get with a new M3P. Sorry to ramble on and thanks for posting.
It's not really taking away from another.. as long as you still buying a tesla they still making their money.. im praying they make the new 3 preformance to down to 2.1 2.2 second ill will buy one day 1.. 100%
The S and X will stay. How could we do without SEXY? We'll get smackdown performance in both sizes, plus same in Model 2 (whatever), Cybertruck, and Roadster (double smackdown). Why not Semi while we're at it. I can see it now...
If this is the new performance I'm pretty underwhelmed!! Not including the power this just looks like a regular new M3 from side and back. The rims are nice. I was holding out for the performance but now I really have no regrets ordering the LR M3 Stealth Grey black interior. First EV. United States
You are not 100% correct about deleting the model S and X gives more space to produce more affordable cars. Because in europe, tesla delivers model Y's from giga berlin mainly meanwhile and also giga shanghai. Also all Model 3 Standard range and Long range are coming from shanghai as well. Model S and X are only produced in fremont. So it doesn't really matter here :)
I drive a Tesla Model 3 Performance with zero to Divorce in 3.1 seconds. My Wife winces if I even think about it... and my Drivers License is on first name terms with the DVLA If this new one is even faster... I'm going to need forged paperwork and a balaclava to go with it.
@@TeslaJigsaw because the brakes on Tesla cars are always too small. And when they make performance versions, they don’t put larger brakes on them, they just give them more power, aero bits, stiffer suspension and better tires. When I looked at the images of the model 3 ludicrous, I went, yeah, those are normal brakes. But realistically, I need to be going, holy shit, those brakes are massive! Then I would be confident that it has enough braking capacity over time. In a single stop, teslas do fine. After multiple hard braking sessions, like at the track or driving fast on a mountain road, Tesla brakes are known to overheat on every model.
the S and X already have the manufacturing infrastructure in place, and they are in the competition with Porsche and other high end luxury cars. the 3 and Y are for the mainstream, in competition with Honda, Toyota, Mazda. The ludicrous 3 would be in competition with Toyota Supra and Honda Civic Type R.
I'm glad that Tesla is giving up the pretext of environmental responsibility and just going for indulgence like GM does. Hummer please! only call it a Cyber Truck Plaid.
I think you are wrong, for Tesla a clean future will always be the priority, and if not I will switch to another brand without any regret. What you may not understand is that a very powerful electric motor is not much heavier than a low power electric one, furthermore the power consumed is almost the same whatever the max power of the motor. I think you are just wrongly generalizing what you are used to with internal combustion engines. For EVs, the main limitation of the power of the motor is the size (and technology) of the battery. Even the production of the Cybertruck is compatible with Tesla's mission since sadly trucks are what US citizens buy, so for all people to switch to EVs one must build electric trucks, but in a ideal world such huge vehicles should just be for people who need them for work. Let's hope people will stop wasting there money on big SUVs and trucks, I have hope because weight is the enemy of mobility and even more of electric mobility. But if people continue to ask for expansive and power full EVs, it will be for the better for Tesla since margins are higher on expansive cars, and since speed limitations are the same for all cars it will have low impact of the climate, just the extra energy needed for the extra weight. Anyway, Teslas are EVs and they are good for the environment, and it is not a pretext but the reason why Tesla exists, and I have no doubt Elon Musk is on the same page.
😍 Yes Please! What does everyone think of the Ludicrous Model 3?
Been patiently waiting for a test drive for several months now.
The badge you're referencing is clearly the Plaid badge.
It's slightly different to the plaid design
@@TeslaJigsaw yes, slightly different as in Ludicrous
Elon at one time said the S & X are only kept for 'nostalgia' purposes at this time.
He did! So how long will they keep producing them with bigger fish to fry? 🤔
When they re-do the Model Y, I'd like to see a slightly lifted "Outback" version, as well as an "El Camino" version where the rear is replaced by a bed and aerodynamic-tonneau ... either a four-door with a short-bed, or a 2-door with a long bed. Yeah, tesla doesn't make any real money with the S and X nor with the upcoming 4680 Roadster but it's nice to see a full line up available
It's going to be a beast.
Nice job being first to share those photos and video!
Very exciting news!
Well done to that person with a phone camera and I do enjoy you humerus way of presenting, thank you

Yes, it'll beat the S Plaid at nurburgring but not the drag strip

Oh wow! Were you driving it too?
Nope our driver Blake Fuller was driving, I sold the car as is to my friend Richard who drives it daily. Can’t wait for the new performance M3
Imagine buying a Ferrari, and not being able to pull away from a 4 door saloon 😂
That cost 1/10 of the price.
Not one model of Ferrari can beat the Plaid including the SF90
Thanks for mention mate
Oh, I hope you don't mind me randomly using your comment? I thought you made a great point 👍
You need to add a segment so your episodes are a little bit longer. Love this channel though!
Thanks buddy! Just needed to knock out a quick one this time, feel free to check out my channel for more in depths 👍
I would do is take the Plaid/Ludicrous badge off. Lovely looking car.

Are we expecting a similar refresh for the model y performance?

I recon it'll look better up close & in the metal. The front & rear do have enough styling differences to stand out IMO, without going overboard

Can’t delete the model x , us ppl from minivans need it
They need to make a model s convertible
Model 3 too! 👌
they will not have 0-60 in under 2 for this - that’s the whole point of calling it luda not plaid. might break into the 2.9 range
If it's 700hp, 0-60 = 2.5s or better
Looks really promising but will not be Plaid but certainly could be 600BHP 2.8/3.0 to 60. And yes why not delete the Model X and upgrade the Model S
If the model 3 was sexy this is X - rated😛😛😛😛😛😛😛
