    This was grrrrreeeaaaat! 👏🏽 I looove scaffolding-it truly is amazing and powerful. Thanks so much for breaking this down and sharing. Breaking things down is my passion. I’m a teacher and curriculum writer. I’ve got a 19 month old and I’m learning now how to teach him.

      I’m just in awe 🫢 I’m so excited to see the rest of this video series and I’m going to take notes! I’m just so happy! I literally strive to tackle every task in this strategic way.. it’s how my brain works.. it’s just wired that way. And I’ve never really come across a resource that satisfies this need/desire that I’m hard wired to fulfill. And it really bothers me that so much of education materials are not made this way. I’m just so thankful, and would just love to see more content and learn more about any and all other work created/scaffolded in this manner. Thank you! 🙏🏼

    Amazing. I always introduce letter sounds a up z. And then l start blending 3 letter words and then two . Eg.with a ending with t and so on and then two letters en in if it is and so on.and then teach sight words the this that and others like where here who etc that is done when comfortable with phonic words. And slowly we read 3 to 4 words sentences. But you are making it more interstitial and deriving pleasure to learn. Am very thankful madam. Salute

      Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. A great book to dive deeper into phonics, especially from a Montessori perspective, is *"The Montessori Method"* by Maria Montessori, which provides foundational insights. For a specific focus on phonics, you might find *"Montessori Read and Write: A Parent's Guide to Literacy for Children"* by Lynne Lawrence very helpful. It offers practical advice and detailed information on phonics and literacy the Montessori way. Happy reading!

    Your youtubes are my bible! Thanks for teaching! English is my second language and I tried to teach my son to read. I might messed up and have taught him pronunciation too soon by mistake. He started biluilding words and I have told him sounds as well. He listened the "aunt on the apple" soung. I tried to fix his sounds but I don't want to keep correcting his words. Since I mistakenly introduced him pronunciation too early, he has made up the word by himself. He either says it's too difficult or makes wrong sounds. Can you help me how to fix this? I tried to teach right way and want him to interested in books.

Some of the containers were purchased from suppliers in Singapore, while others were found in the UK. If you're looking for similar containers, I'd recommend checking out educational supply stores or online marketplaces in these regions for a good selection. How do you address the various ways "a" is pronounced. For example, in rat vs can.

    • @SunshineTeachersTraining
      @SunshineTeachersTraining  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! In the Montessori Pink Series, we start by introducing the short vowel sounds of "a," as in "cat" and "rat." Consistency in sound helps children build a solid foundation in early reading. As they progress, we introduce the idea that some letters, like "a," can make different sounds depending on the word. We use additional materials and activities to explore these variations in pronunciation as their reading skills develop. It's all about layering their understanding step by step.
      Please watch our video on the Green Series to see how its done

  • @juliegray9972
    @juliegray9972 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can you please tell me if you would change anything regarding the language series when teaching a 4 1/2 year old who is fluent in reading? I will homeschool my daughter and have been teaching her since she was 9 months old. She began reading 3 word sentences before she was two upon completion of a right brain training reading program that I taught her. I love the Montessori language and grammar theories but ive realized that teaching her some things is extremely easy for her and just feels backwards. Im also afraid of the risk of confusing her if I focus on vowel sounds at all since she already knows to pronounce them all no matter what the word is. Today the word “honor” was in her book. She knew the “h” was silent and pronounced it correctly even though she has never been taught words with silent letters.
    Im currently ending the pink series and moving on to the blue series. During the pink series, she began to spell the CVC words on her own. I’ve incorporated CVC spelling words in her curriculum now because she loves being able to write them on her own instead of sounding out the letters verbally. We have worked with the moveable alphabet starting at age 3 but currently she is writing letters for most of our lessons.
    I would appreciate any advise you have for me:)

    Ma'am I won't pink scheme, blue scheme, green scheme storebooks

  • @Natalia-ev4bp
    @Natalia-ev4bp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How does the pink series apply to a different language (more phonetic than English) where the CVC words aren’t absolutely necessary? Can there be non CVC words in the pink series as long as they are phonetic and made out of 2 or 3 letters.
    Latin/Romanic language, like Montessori’s mother tongue, are highly phonetic as they mostly have a sound for each letter and each letter in a word is sounded out. Not sure if that makes sense 😅
    With that said, in such a phonetic language I don’t see why there can’t be words in the form of VCC or CCV?
    I see my almost 4 years old interested in reading and I’m trying to “translate” all of this information into our mother tongue to try and teach her at home but although I have asked a few people about transition to a foreign language other than English I still don’t feel confident enough I have actually grasped the concept to be able to start.
    Unfortunately, there’s not much information on this in my language to just be able to go ahead and I’m not a teacher, never been and probably never will be very good at teaching anyway. But I do want to give it a try.
    My daughter will start school next year and she will be taught all this in English there anyway, maybe not in the Montessori way but here in UK they use the phonics system in most schools now anyway.
    One last question.
    I honestly cannot afford to invest in the authentic materials.
    Can we skip the metal insets or is there something else we could use instead that I can DIY?
    Are the metal insets very important and wort investing it now that my little one is almost 4?

      Alright, in the hope that you will actually see my comments and make the time to reply, which I will highly appreciate, there’s one more thing I’d like to ask.
      Should I just start with English language and get her all started for school next year?
      And just put our mother tongue on hold for now and wait introducing reading and writing until she’s confident enough with the English language?
      I surely don’t want to overwhelm her with 2 languages simultaneously. It’s one thing to learn to speak more than one language and another to learn reading/writing 2 or more at the same time.

      @SunshineTeachersTraining  ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest, I can only advise you for English. I have not worked with this material in other languages.

      Hi Natalia - you had a question about using your mother tongue and I am not able to find it. In the first 6 years of life the child is in the stage of the absorbent mind. This is the BEST time ever to expose them to multiple language and they will easily and effortlessly pick it up. Have a look at this video: th-cam.com/video/zLWCp3tGJO4/w-d-xo.html
