personally i just shape the silhouette first and then add a bright colour either as a highlight or as an underlayer(?) shadow if i’m feeling fancy. hair is cool but rendering can take too long imo lol
Yeah, I get so lazy when I want to render which makes me want to go back to line art. But I'm too lazy for that as well lol. But when I'm done, I feel happy that I rendered and fixed stuff

I actually cut my hair short for a masc effect as well and I found that, because it’s pretty curly, I have to draw it in weird blobs to make it look alright. I still haven’t figured out how to draw it realistically, but it’s okay because that’s not really my art style. For drawing my hair, I usually draw big blobs that spiral a bit upwards for the shape.

Like, I mean SM is a big company and they will know what to do, they can just sue those who spread false rumors about their artist right after that if he did nothing wrong. i've always had difficulties with painting hair and i realize my problem like with other art tings is that i jump into the details waayyy too early. it helps to follow other artists and analyze their drawings and speedpaints because you can learn a lot. asking questions also helps too! thanks again kooleen ^^

ANGEL REFERENCE. I LOVE IT That guy was the person who got me into drawing portraits. Probably like middle of 2020 and now I cannnn. He taught me how to teach myself to draw. That mixed with the bradwynn jones portrait draw alongs are what taught me to do portraits. Highly recommend bradwynn. He's super good at portrait sketches, and he teaches you while he draws how to do it. Now I can draw without the videos :)

I think your character looks asian because you can't really see the tear gland. Asian people have skin covering the tear glad (google it, then you know what I mean). And yours has (especially at the bottom) a slimmer nose like many asian girls. You can compare it with your reference pic too, maybe then you'll realize. Idk if it's the main reason why your character looks asian but hope this helps even though im not an expert myself

Weight. Every thing has a mass, and mass on earth is affected by Earth's gravity. Weight can be visualized using shape and properly placed values. This is fundamental to whatever you're drawing to describe a three-dimensional object on a flat canvas. The more you think about how you're really sculpting in two dimensions, then the idea about the push-pull dichotomy with regards to value relations makes more sense. That floof you described is doing exactly what I mentioned, where you are essentially looking at your painting as more than just a flat object. It's funny how doing just this then opens up what others will be able to see because then you can make artistic decisions to convey what you can see internally.
Question koolen, How many layers do you use in your drawings? Whenever I look at really good drawings, most of their layers r abt 101-48 yk and I'm starting to get lazy 🤧
@@itisindeedtangle im usually abit too careful with the layers bc i dont want to risk it being on the wrong layer and also my artstyle has alot of details
@@toasted_apples Stop being a scared baby and take the plunge. You can't be a good artist if you don't at least challenge yourself. Try drawing something with 10 layers max. You'll work smarter, you'll learn how to use other tools for your advantage, and you won't have to waste your time organizing and labeling all your layers. Just. Do it. No more excuses.
A tip I have for drawing eyes (I’m probably a bit late for this but oh well) is to make them less semi-circle and more almond or lemon depending on the art style you’re working on
