    I have owned mine almost six months, I am a van dweller in central Florida and have run a 5000 BTU ac all summer for a minimum of 9 hours a day and it has performed flawlessly and runs my microwave with ease... Just keep the oil changed and replace spark plug and it will run quiet clean, just don't try to power high wattage tools with a cheap extension cord.

      The AC unit in my coleman is 8,000 BTU, it runs that great, but not the microwave.

    I was camping with my son last year in a little bigger trailer up in Oregon mountains. He has exact unit and it powered his heat at night, tv, microwave, electrical gadgets etc. You just can’t use them all at same time. Much quieter then a generator. Was running all night for heat and could barely hear it inside. They also use for job sites to power tools. I plan to buy one this year.

    My Predator 2000 runs the microwave in my boat just fine, but so did the old Honda 1000 I used to use. It's a small MW. A better test with the saws would be to actually cut something, they do draw more amps when loaded. That being said, I really like the reset button on this unit. With the Honda 1000 you have the shut it off and restart when it overloads.

    Turning refrigeration units does not cause them to draw more power. The refrigerator will run longer before it cycles off.
    The AC will draw slightly more on high due to the higher fan speed, but that will be minor. The big draw is the compressir.

    Almost got the HF 2000 but yesterday I ended up with a Champion 2000 for $400.. I didn't expect it to run my 1350 btu air cond and it wont but it will run the rv inverter the fridge and microwave at the same time. I may end up with the HF 3500 when its on sale but most of the time it would be for home use because if I don't need AC in my rv then I don't want to move 100 LBS around and the 2000 watt sips gas. I will say the HF seems loud and that wouldn't go over well at campsites but I could be wrong about that.. Thanks for the video.

    Thanks. Be helpful to know what wattage your appliances and stuff are. I assume it's a funny thousand AC, which I read pulls 500 watts, not sure about the whole startup or surge wattage thing on certain appliances. Smallest microwaves are like 700 Watts? So that should do well. Do you know what yours is. I keep adding up Watts the things I want to do period. I can't find the surge are starting Watts on a lot of things. Interesting. Really want to go with these smaller 2000 / 2200 vs the 3500. Not sure.

  • @halkench

    It probably would run the microwave if you slipped the converter breaker off. Charging the trailer battery and micro at same time was too much for it.

  • @rjugel
    @rjugel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That generator is rated at 1600 watts continuous and 2000 watts surge, so figuring current output at 110V (P = EI, or I = P/E, or, by substitution I = 1600/110 then I = 14.5 Amperes (P in watts, I in amperes and E in volts)) which is roughly equivalent to a standard home 15 amp circuit. It should be able to run anything that will run plugged into a home or shop 15 amp outlet.

    • @robertng9330
      @robertng9330 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Richard, I am thinking of this generator to SEPARATELY run a small office refrigerator and microwave oven in case of a power outage (yes, I'm in California). I am surprised that his test with microwave oven FAILED. I thought those microwave ovens were 1000-1100 watts. By Ohms Law, You state that the Predator 2000 should be able to run the microwave oven?

    • @rjugel
      @rjugel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@robertng9330 Yes, it should .... but real world conditions could make a great difference in delivered power .... like the length and size of the extension cord(s). Also, there are surge currents at start up, especially, that will also figure in, and the condition of the circuit breaker which also sometimes is calibrated below average or max to guarantee protection of the generator. Waveform is another consideration, as the switching supplies may distort the AC waveform depending on design, load and quality factors. I have not run that particular generator but have run tests on my Honda ES-6500 that I use for ham radio field day and it will vary greatly with different equipment of similar types and the power supplies each of them use. One way to find out is to insert a good quality wattmeter in the generator output line and more precisely measure the output current with that. An ammeter could also be used, along with an accurate AC voltmeter, to calculate the power output via Ohms law. You,re interested in the power at the output of the generator to see what it's actually putting out when the breaker trips since the length (resistance) of the output power line to the appliance will also suck up some power, as well as the distance from the generator to the appliance. I always try to put my generator as far away from the radio shack as I can to cut down on generator noise. Many folks will use small diameter (higher gauge) extension cords to connect things up and that's not good ... the smaller the gauge, the larger the wire (10 gauge is larger than 14 gauge, for example). Note that some generators use fuses, usually slow blow, that can take a reasonable duration of surge current without blowing ... some circuit breakers work in a similar fashion, but some do not and will pop at with relatively short term surges. Continued breaking of circuit breakers can also weaken them and inhibit their effectiveness and should be replaced. I've also found that most published ratings on low-end consumer generators are somewhat optimistic and, in practice, fall short of them, more or less, but often vary all over the place depending on quality of design, components and build. Also, my example calculations of 110V should probably be at 117 or 120 since that's more like the real normal voltage although the principle is the same and the law (Ohms) is inviolate and absolute. :-)

    Starting draw of loads is as a rule one and a half times of rated amps, amps times volts equal watts (Ohms law), all of these "tests" could be predicted by using it (Ohms law). Next, using a small gauge conductor 50 foot power cord de-rates the output as well by causing higher loads, doing do induces "line drop", actual loads being read by the generator may be as high as +50% over a shorter, larger gauge conductor cord or even better, no cord. plug loads directly to generator, not only are the cords hard on the generator but the tool or appliance as well.

    We have used the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

    what do you use your compressor for? Does that thing run a nail gun or a paint sprayer or something?

    • @LandbergTileTV

      Yes, this can run a compressor and paint sprayer. You should check out the Dewalt Power station, it runs those also. 👊

    Yo - just turning the device on does NOT mean UNDER LOAD it can handle the "work" all you're doing is testing the sine wave output to meet the inrush and NO-Load condition of the AC motor - get it?!~

    Will this run a waffle maker at 1100 watts for 4 hours? Furthermore, in addition to that a heat lamp at 500 watts? Totaling 1600 watts which is the running max of this generator. Thanks in advance

      Highly doubtful it will run that kind of load continuously. You will be better off with a much larger generator.

      +LizzyBee AnAddedTouch no, this only runs the 8000 bcu ac unit or the fridge separately. It does not run them simultaneously. I bought a Furman 3100 inverter generator and will test it after I break it in and post a video on those test results soon!

    Starting and running those saws with no load on them doesn't mean that genny will power them. Try cutting some wood or tile and watch that genny shut down immediately. I'm not saying it's not a good generator. It's just not intended for those applications.

    • @LandbergTileTV

    Why not try reading the spec on the items before testing, this should give an idea, and then you can go ahead and see if it is out of max spec or any use spec.

    If you had to gauge...how many running watts will this run...

    • @mso4433
      @mso4433 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of these 2000 watt gennys have running watts around 1600 watts, or a little over 13 amps available. Not bad. Be sure to do a proper break-in before you load it up like this, though. Usually they say not to exceed 1/2 the rated watts during the break-in period. Good advice.

  • @jamescoker6912
    @jamescoker6912 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just because the saw come on doesn't mean it will power it. Cutting material will load the electric motor and draw way more watts/amps.

      @@LandbergTileTV I'm not gonna argue it's a decent generator bro. But I'm just saying free speed on a saw is totally different than throwing that same saw into raw green oak. It's gonna load hard. Plus. Depends on saw teeth sharpness also. That's all I meant.

    • @jamescoker6912
      @jamescoker6912 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could mean the difference between a "any saw" drawing 10-25 amps. That's alot.
