When we moved from Washington across to the other side of the country we clicked on over 2000mi. I'm not walking that, especially carrying everything I own! There are still quite a few towns and cities that are pedestrian based, tho. There's a LOT in the Midwest, cute little ones, lost in time. I visited a few, Tipp City, YellowSprings, Waikkeda...wakeduh...walkieda... St. James. Lots of little towns full of local owner/operated shops, and restaurants that felt like you were invited to eat at someone's home. Very comfy and nice. Back home where I was born, in Washington, up in the mountainside, there's a famous place called Leavenworth, not the prison, but a larger town or smallish city, all Bevarian white house like buildings with dark brown or black wood outlining the building and crossing it... it's kinda hard to explain, honestly. Look it up, tho, it's beautiful! They sell lots of handmade things, usually made from things of the earth, so very of nature and Scandinavian, liiiike fresh caught salmon; smoked or cooked between planks, just a couple ways to have it, beer, beautiful glassworks; stained glass, blown glass, glass art, cups, dishes, hair accessories, you name it, beer, handmade toys, usually made of wood, beer, Christmas shops, so many Christmas shops there's a whole street, a district of Christmas shops, oh, and chocolates; oh, such amazing chocolates, beer, _clocks_ ; like intricate wooden, sometimes metal work kuckoo clocks and stuff! ... beer... waffles, Oh, they also make these distinct handmade mugs, in a very specific style, it's like, usually it's a grey or deep blue, or blue-grey, but occasionally brown base, kind of speckled-ey but still deep and glossy, and then they top it with this cloudy, foamy looking coating on top, which makes the whole thing look like a mug shaped mountain. It's a Scandinavian/ Bavarian thing, I guess, just perfect for their handcrafted Bavarian beer! Wasn't sure if I'd mentioned that or not. The hopps grows naturally around there so it's a given they'd make beer there. They throw lots of festivals, like Oktoberfest, Springa, Mayfair, CHRISTMASFEST... but my favorite was always this amazing fireworks show they held every year for the 4th of July, using this little island you can walk to when the river tide is low. Well, they _used_ to, until one year they caught the entire island on fire and the fire fighters had a difficult time getting equipment and people out to it, so they decided not to do it out there again! It's gotten a lot smaller and a bit bleh since then... ehhh, but safer, I guess. I haven't been in ages, tho... Honestly I've been to every state across the continental United States, and I'd have to say, we have _more_ pedestrian centered cities than we do traffic based. I think the traffic based cities are just getting more attention because that's where venues usually are, so when a concert or sports even is held or something important is happening, like in a larger capital city, those people are seeing this giant city that was built around or near an airport, or at least it's in a major financial district, bc that's where they build stadiums and concert halls and stuff! They're not seeing the majority of smaller cities you need to park your car just outside of and walk around in bc it's just easier that way. Honestly, I've seen more of these smaller towns being taken over and industrialized in just the past 5 or so years than I have my whole life. I grew up in a small town that was slowly turned into a bigger city type and I hated it. However, if it had been that way from the start, I could see a certain appeal for some people. Everything is a short walk away, there's masstransit all over (busses) and you _can_ walk it, it's just a car centered town now, bc is been swallowed up by corporate businesses. Everything I knew and loved is gone, even my high school! The school named after my town isn't even in my town anymore! Smh. Also, let's not forget that, while highways are indeed ugly, and cars are totally noisy and obnoxious, we wouldn't be able to get to the places we need to go and get the things we need. I _need_ to be able to get in my car and go to my appointments bc I'm agoraphobic with AuDHD (and so many other freaking issues, dangit), so no mass transit for me, plus both my kids have issues they need me to be able to get to them quickly for, so car and road needed. if it weren't for them I wouldn't be able to get to my VA appointments, which I very much need, and my daughter wouldn't be able to get to her college campus, because it's cheaper for her to live at home and travel back and forth to school, plus I get to keep her nearby longer, which makes me happy, and even those of us who do not leave our houses much, or tend to shop in the smaller towns, there's still gonna be stuff we need that's being shipped across America (or, indeed the world, picked up at a port and then shipped across America), so these roads y'all hate, you need them. America's truly dependant drug... cement. Sorry that was long. I tried to shorten it, but... Leavenworth! If you can go, definitely go! It's worth it!
dont use size as an excuse though Europe is same size as USA and isnt reliant on cars at all. its just shitty infastructure because car companys wanna keep it that way
Jack, Fahrenheit made more sense to me after someone explained it like this: “Fahrenheit is based on temperature relative to the human body. 0 is instant freezing death, etc.”
The jaywlaking bit surprised me because as an American- no one follows those signs either. They’re also just sorta suggestions. Also I’ve jaywalked in front of police before lmao, they don’t seem to care either
idk what state ur in but what?? i mean ive jaywalked multiple times but when they actually have the signs and a crosswalk and everything its usually for a reason, at least in my experience, i think ur chances of getting ran over when theres all that depending on the population/traffic of the area increases like 50% and im not taking that chance lmfao💀
it's legal in Cali now and it's always been treated as legal in NYC, Nevada's the only state I've spent any time in where you'll get a ticket for jaywalking

Huge agree. What really shows in any form of media is the love and the joy that's had when making it. Princess Bride by todays standards could come off as corny or not high production, but its the love that was put into it that really shines. Everyone quotes it and enjoys the fun scenes, and you can tell that the cast 100% was the same way with it: just having fun and being happy to be a part of it, it's infectious. Same thing with Jack's new content, doesn't matter what the content is, you can tell he's enjoying it and even though its not the stuff that put him on the map so to speak, the fun and joy of it is still there without the pressure and in my books its even more enjoyable. ☺

Fun fact regarding 11:16: Texas is actually the only US state that was an independent nation at one point in time (after it seceded from Mexico in 1836). Texas also seceded from the Union along with the other Confederate states in 1861. So you're kinda correct about that.
11:17 Jack says Texas is like if America wanted to be separate from itself. Texas is the only state that could separate from the country. That is why it is called the Lone Star State.
yet texas is prob the proudest state out of all states to be apart of america lmfao theyre obsessed w it like someone else said in the comments they’re “hyper american” lol💀
Note: Texas can’t separate from the US but can divide itself into 5 smaller states. Also even if they did, they wouldn’t last long considering how they die every time they get slightly more than 0.02 inches of snow
3:30 You’re actually kinda right!! Jaywalking was invented in Kansas City by the car people to blame pedestrians for being in their way. The term “Jay” comes from “Jayhawkers”, which is what Kansans were called during the Civil War. As cars became more common, auto groups started lobbying for jaywalking to be a crime so that they had full control of streets. Also, a big reason why taking our alcohol “on the go” is looked down on cause we’re all going to our cars! I’m glad America was nice to you, that’s something that I hear many foreigners say surprised them the most. Come visit Kansas City, we got the midwestern niceness that’ll blow you away :)
it surprised me and ive always lived in america lmao, vv confused where all these “genuinely nice americans” are coming from but i still havent found them (for the most part obvi theres always SOME nice ppl but ykwim) lmfao💀

You described WHY Fahrenheit works so well as a gauge of weather; a "normal" range is 0-100, anything above or below that is cause for alarm. The reason I, and possibly most other Americans (even if they can't articulate it), prefer F to C is that each degree is more precise and we care more about it being an indication of human comfort than of water's physical properties. I am a big believer in switching over to metric on literally everything except temperature.
A few things: Jaywalking is a regional thing. Don't get me wrong, it's illegal everywhere, but you'd be hard-pressed getting anyone on the East Coast to abide by it. Once you hit the midwest, things are generally moving at a slower pace and people are more inclined to wait to cross, but by no means will they stand at an empty intersection and wait for the signals to change, and the only way you'd get ticketed for it is if a cop wanted to ruin your day As for Fahrenheit, it's based on the freezing point of equal parts salt and water (0°) to the average temp of the human body (100°) - *however* the scientist deciding these scales was a bit off in some areas so temps had to be adjusted to be more accurate resulting in a fairly wonky scale. Generally, you can understand ~100° to be the temperature of you, and use that to determine a sort of "percentage of heat" with 50° being half your temp and 0° being you devoid of warmth (I know it sucks but it's what we got) And lastly I would not go for food from a strip club. That's a weird thing to recommend
9:00 this whole bit is BASED. Here’s why… With our temp system, you can consider it out of 100% for almost every place in the US. (Excluding places with humidity because that can make it feel wayyy hotter). - 20°? 20% hot. -60°? 60% hot! -100°?… 100% way too hot. Obviously, we’re all gonna like the system we’re used to and either would need a little warming up to! Much love from Utah!
yeah and 120 literally does feel like 120% atp ur like boiling alive lmfao like last vegas in the summer, when we were there for 5 days istg we couldnt stay outside for more than 5min even at night cuz it was constantly like being inside a fucking oven it was soooo bad omg😭 mightve even gotten up to 120 i wouldnt be surprised it was absolutely insane💀
(as an American) Americans are always the extremes. The nice people are SUPER nice and genuinely empathetic, kind, and sweet. A true Midwest American will strike up a lovely conversation and you will have a fantastic time. The worst people are THE ABSOLUTE WORST. If you're lucky, they just call you slurs or have a sharp object. Unlucky is....unfortunately also pretty common. People are very angry, very violent, and very selfish. I am glad Jack was able to recognize the best of both the U.K. and America! That's how cultures should be appreciated and adopted, the best of each while acknowledging the problems and hardships of reality. I also definitely can say that...Jack is a great concoction for people to be friendly and fun with. The farther away you get from "outgoing, funny, skinny, not impoverished, able-bodied cishet white man", the worse your interactions with strangers become. Picking up on an accent and not knowing geography is probably the worst microaggression he will get, thank god, but for anyone else, it can be a totally different story. That's where the worst of the worst kinds of Americans come in. The microaggressions turn into actual violence and innocent people get hurt. So be wary of anyone that make you or your friends uncomfortable, it's safer to just seem rude than it is to let things escalate!
girl replied acting like fat, poor, disabled, trans, gay brown people don't exist lmao. "what has the world come to" recognizing people and their differences. society DOES judge and treat people differently. Pls educate yourself
The American accent at 9:50 scared me. I wonder. Also if he thinks America is weird he should come to Florida. Although he was in San Francisco so if he went out at night that’s the same thing
As an australian, 30 degrees celsius is normal 40 is warm. Also australian peoples accent isnt too different it is very steryotyped (idk how to say it) and we get mixed up with the new zealand accent which is different again. Anyways hello fellow left out australians that will now have to watch jack on mondays when he changes the scedual (all good do what you need to do dude)
WE LOVE YOU JACK MANIFOLD. Me and my friend felt so honored that you and tom wanted to take a selfie with the Atlanta crowd. Y'all were AMAZING and my friend lost their voice at the show lmao.
The reference points for Fahrenheit are actually wild. He took the coldest thing he could produce in his lab (a ice salt mixture) and set it to 0° and upper reference is the temperature of a healthy human taken from under the armpit, which he set at 96°F.
never once heard someone talk about fahrenheit in percentages so idk who you asked, but typically most Americans say Celsius is a good measurement system for water, cooking and fire. While fahrenheit is a good measurement system for the human body. almost everyone I've met agrees the imperial system is shit though. idk why inch feet and miles are that long specifically. we'd switch to metric if it didn't cost billions to change all the signs and teach everyone outside of school. not that it's hard to teach. that's why it's better it's all dividable by 10.
10:15 “Why fahrenheit?” Mercury and Salt Water. Precision. Ambient temperature is the most important area of temperature and it shows off all the ambient temperatures
When I lived in London for several months almost everyone I came across in parks was smoking joints and police did not care at all, and even on streets you could smell weed. So what he said about America applies to UK too.
4:14 as someone from massachusetts, we kinda take the cross signals as suggestions 😅 so depends where in the US you are. loved this video jack! feels almost like a podcast, or a random chat with a friend.
About the temperature thing Celsius just feels to mild a measurement. For example if you tell me it’s 30 out that doesn’t feel high enough to describe how hot it is but if you say it’s 98 out then that really feels like “damn it’s hot as shit outside”
my moms a minnesotan, her and my gma still have the accent w certain things like “roof” (they say it like the o’s in wood) and “ruin” (they say “rune”??? at least my gma does) and “roots” (same thing as roof lol) etc.
my mom and my whole extended family moved to wa before i was born tho so im a wa girlie (washington state) but we’ve lived in kauai and florida too plus a ton of different cities across all 3 states lmao
As an American it's interesting how different people around the world view Americans, I'm glad you had good interactions here with the people, I'd say you were pretty lucky, especially in Texas, lot of people I've met here would much rather be in any other place LOL
11:00 jacks talk about what America is like in different parts makes sense based of us history. The south is like its own thing because of the civil war and how it’s hyper American because thanks to “The Practices of The 1800’s” they were progressively stunted. The east side is very British because they were the first few states and had very British roots. The west coast being kinda standoffish was because of territories separating them from Central eastern America and a lot of us history. And Central America is just kinda there, it never was very populated, has nothing special about it, and is very rural.
11:26 Wow it’s almost like it’s called NEW ENGLAND /lh Also I agree, Fahrenheit is pretty weird, I just use it cause it’s what I’m most used to. I e never heard of the percentage thing though, THAT’S weird. Glad you enjoyed America Jack!

It's worth it!
dont use size as an excuse though Europe is same size as USA and isnt reliant on cars at all. its just shitty infastructure because car companys wanna keep it that way
Jack, Fahrenheit made more sense to me after someone explained it like this:
“Fahrenheit is based on temperature relative to the human body. 0 is instant freezing death, etc.”
The jaywlaking bit surprised me because as an American- no one follows those signs either. They’re also just sorta suggestions. Also I’ve jaywalked in front of police before lmao, they don’t seem to care either
I have just recently learned that it depends on the state you’re in lol
idk what state ur in but what?? i mean ive jaywalked multiple times but when they actually have the signs and a crosswalk and everything its usually for a reason, at least in my experience, i think ur chances of getting ran over when theres all that depending on the population/traffic of the area increases like 50% and im not taking that chance lmfao💀
it's legal in Cali now and it's always been treated as legal in NYC, Nevada's the only state I've spent any time in where you'll get a ticket for jaywalking
17 minutes of manic rambling. I love it.
Im glad youre making more videos youre actually passionate about!!! :D Im really liking this channel so far. this format of video Is so entertaining to me; you just have a way of communicating that makes everything seem very Interesting and entertaining
@@madeline5138OMG IVE NEVER HEARD ANYBODY BESIDES MY OWN FAMILY MENTION PRINCESS BRIDE BEFORE LESS GOOOO SLAY that was always one of our go-to dvds to play esp at my gmas cabin as a kid lol great movie fr🙏🙏
Fun fact regarding 11:16: Texas is actually the only US state that was an independent nation at one point in time (after it seceded from Mexico in 1836). Texas also seceded from the Union along with the other Confederate states in 1861. So you're kinda correct about that.
Love the random 'Papers Please' music that began playing at 4:25
10:20 lol but that makes sense because 100 degrees is about where temperatures actually get dangerous, so 120 degrees is 120% hot
Come visit Kansas City, we got the midwestern niceness that’ll blow you away :)
it surprised me and ive always lived in america lmao, vv confused where all these “genuinely nice americans” are coming from but i still havent found them (for the most part obvi theres always SOME nice ppl but ykwim) lmfao💀
currently in jail for 16 and a half counts of vehicular manslaughter but I just can't stop that Jack Manifold grind
Oh no Jack, we do know that America is weird 🦅🦅
4:39 “Also people are just way more friendly” wait til you get to Canada 😂
i miss canada man :((
I love Canada, but unfortunately, I'm from this ignorant child country (U.S).
As a American who lives in America I CAN AGREE, it's a weird place
This video format is actually pretty good. Loved watching this video during my breakfast
So glad you've had a good time here overall!! Saw the show in Columbus and I adored getting to see your acting/impressions live. The energy from the crowd when you came out was so good.
This has to be one of your best videos... really enjoyed it
As a Czech, I totally agree

You described WHY Fahrenheit works so well as a gauge of weather; a "normal" range is 0-100, anything above or below that is cause for alarm. The reason I, and possibly most other Americans (even if they can't articulate it), prefer F to C is that each degree is more precise and we care more about it being an indication of human comfort than of water's physical properties.
I am a big believer in switching over to metric on literally everything except temperature.
That’s so backwards to me 😂
i have a temperature of 39.6°C but can’t stop the jack manifold grind
im american idk what that means but im guessing its a fever😭💀
@@aquademoneyyeah it does 😭
13:55 LMAOOOOO “I’m sorry we had to leave…😔”
A few things:
Jaywalking is a regional thing. Don't get me wrong, it's illegal everywhere, but you'd be hard-pressed getting anyone on the East Coast to abide by it. Once you hit the midwest, things are generally moving at a slower pace and people are more inclined to wait to cross, but by no means will they stand at an empty intersection and wait for the signals to change, and the only way you'd get ticketed for it is if a cop wanted to ruin your day
As for Fahrenheit, it's based on the freezing point of equal parts salt and water (0°) to the average temp of the human body (100°) - *however* the scientist deciding these scales was a bit off in some areas so temps had to be adjusted to be more accurate resulting in a fairly wonky scale. Generally, you can understand ~100° to be the temperature of you, and use that to determine a sort of "percentage of heat" with 50° being half your temp and 0° being you devoid of warmth (I know it sucks but it's what we got)
And lastly I would not go for food from a strip club. That's a weird thing to recommend
9:32 ok ngl i didnt think of it that way and now i hate fahrenheit 🔥
i love this podcast setup LMAO the commentary is so funny actually
Currently breathing american air but can’t stop that jack manifold grind
9:00 this whole bit is BASED. Here’s why…
With our temp system, you can consider it out of 100% for almost every place in the US.
But the metric system is way better than the imperial system and that’s a fact
Seeing you guys in MN was genuinely so much fun, you guys are amazing on stage and i look forward to the future!
as a texan who moved to the uk, i fully agree with this statement
YESS I WAS WAITING FOR THIS
(as an American) Americans are always the extremes.
"skinny, not impoverished, able-bodied cishet white man"
What is this world coming to...
girl replied acting like fat, poor, disabled, trans, gay brown people don't exist lmao. "what has the world come to" recognizing people and their differences. society DOES judge and treat people differently. Pls educate yourself
8:23 he finally figured it out
The American accent at 9:50 scared me. I wonder. Also if he thinks America is weird he should come to Florida. Although he was in San Francisco so if he went out at night that’s the same thing
watching a 17 min video of jack just yapping is way more calming than i imagined
As an australian, 30 degrees celsius is normal 40 is warm. Also australian peoples accent isnt too different it is very steryotyped (idk how to say it) and we get mixed up with the new zealand accent which is different again. Anyways hello fellow left out australians that will now have to watch jack on mondays when he changes the scedual (all good do what you need to do dude)
stereotyped*
schedule* also lmao
WE LOVE YOU JACK MANIFOLD. Me and my friend felt so honored that you and tom wanted to take a selfie with the Atlanta crowd. Y'all were AMAZING and my friend lost their voice at the show lmao.
The reference points for Fahrenheit are actually wild. He took the coldest thing he could produce in his lab (a ice salt mixture) and set it to 0° and upper reference is the temperature of a healthy human taken from under the armpit, which he set at 96°F.
"Minnie-ey-seh-tah" was one of the best bits of the show and I love it

4:19 in Portland Oregon you can do that as well but I know some states where it’s illegal
7:02 this feels like "I go to Hooters for the wings"
9:00 Even half of Oregon is in a different climate
never once heard someone talk about fahrenheit in percentages so idk who you asked, but typically most Americans say Celsius is a good measurement system for water, cooking and fire.
Precision. Ambient temperature is the most important area of temperature and it shows off all the ambient temperatures
still living in someones walls, but cant stop the jack manifold grind
5:06 i think she confused London, Ohio, with London, UK 😭🙏
Ooooohhhh? Early vlog content about America..... YES
When I lived in London for several months almost everyone I came across in parks was smoking joints and police did not care at all, and even on streets you could smell weed. So what he said about America applies to UK too.
Love to have more videos of jack just telling us about his day
My chemistry teacher said: Celsius is based on waters freezing point, Kelvin on absolute zero and Fahrenheit doesn't make sense
I actually got to go to the show in April. I gotta say, for some reason the crowd cheered for Tubbo's death. Yeah. . . Minnesota. . .
about the jwalking thing: it really depends on where you are, some places crosswalks are more of a suggestion as well LMAO
4:14 as someone from massachusetts, we kinda take the cross signals as suggestions 😅 so depends where in the US you are. loved this video jack! feels almost like a podcast, or a random chat with a friend.
"It's 70% hot." is my new favorite saying.
On the jack manifold grind even though my father has just went into cardiac arrest
About the temperature thing Celsius just feels to mild a measurement. For example if you tell me it’s 30 out that doesn’t feel high enough to describe how hot it is but if you say it’s 98 out then that really feels like “damn it’s hot as shit outside”
14:54 As one of the people who cheered I can confirm, any other Minnesotans?
my moms a minnesotan, her and my gma still have the accent w certain things like “roof” (they say it like the o’s in wood) and “ruin” (they say “rune”??? at least my gma does) and “roots” (same thing as roof lol) etc.
my mom and my whole extended family moved to wa before i was born tho so im a wa girlie (washington state) but we’ve lived in kauai and florida too plus a ton of different cities across all 3 states lmao
„Water in America freezes at half a minecraft stack“ 😂
0:27 lol
As an American it's interesting how different people around the world view Americans, I'm glad you had good interactions here with the people, I'd say you were pretty lucky, especially in Texas, lot of people I've met here would much rather be in any other place LOL
I came to see ur show and I also went to London last week ☺️ Both places are great!!!
I went to the Florida one and it was amazing! Even my mom liked it! I would 100% do it again. Jack you were amazing❤️
I love how he’s wearing his white Crocs while talking to us about the most crackheaded country imaginable
yea Texes is a weird place but it fun 😀👍 (but it depends on where you are)
jack is full of such joy and whimsy and a spark for life. i love how much he gets into the smallest details
7:14 In the UK, you lie about your feelings to others. In America, you lie about your feelings to yourself.
no in america u def do lie abt ur feelings to others what r u talking abt💀
11:26 Wow it’s almost like it’s called NEW ENGLAND /lh
Also I agree, Fahrenheit is pretty weird, I just use it cause it’s what I’m most used to. I e never heard of the percentage thing though, THAT’S weird. Glad you enjoyed America Jack!
