That blinds you to reality. Unfortunately for him reality slap in the face / wake up call is coming at a time when it will destroy his future. He's now starting to see the light. I hope he grows from this. Two dead people does not bring back one dead person. It is true he has a price to pay and it could very easily take him the rest of his life to pay it, no winners here. This has been proven many times in many countries including the US and also the UK where a top serving police officer raped and murdered an innocent woman recently.
And of course there is the George Floyd case in the US.

Yes, there are bad thinking characters in uniform, but be realistic about your equation. If you were in mortal fear for YOUR life, in a situation involving YOU, who would you call first (if you could call)? A trained police officer with a gun that could possibly save YOUR life, that’s who. So please, get educated and informed. There are productive ways of processing good vs evil in this world. Same with sex crimes. No more of this rehabilitation, or even punishment for these kinds of crimes. These people do NOT change. End them and try to help people worth saving. My son was 5 and stole some ballons while we were shopping. Found when we got back to our car. I told him we were going to see the manager and return to suffer consequences. He said no! I immediately put him in the car drive to police station and made a citizen arrest. He was put in holding ( alone ) for hours after also being fingerprinted. He was released and told his prints on record and any more trouble would be locked away forever, no TV, no mommy, etc. Worked after school to pay car insurance and car. Left his clothes or toys out they were donated to goodwill. Was not allowed to say I can’t, only I will try my best! He is 49 now and never had a speeding ticket, works for major company in Europe speaks 5 languages, very strong willed, ethical, compassionate and a mothers dream. No father in the picture, many times said I hate you and I responded good must be doing my job as a parent but you will at least be a productive citizen in society. At 27 he actually thanked me as he was reaping the rewards and understood
