I don't disagree with the sentiment. I'm entirely with you there. But we _can't_ forget the roughly 1 in 10 individuals that are given the death penalty and are innocent.
It cannot be taken back. No victim was ever returned to life by their killer being executed. There's a _reason_ why almost the entire civilised world has abolished death as a punitive measure.

@@tcgfade0ut Regardless, death penalty prevents offenders from reoffending. It is the ultimate deterrent in the sense of the offender and not the public. Murderers and rapists will never be stopped by the idea of a punishment. But they cannot reoffend if they are dead. If they are allowed a life within prison, they can one day be released or at the best, murder or rape other offenders that they are locked up with.

I can understand God if I'm willing to challenge logic, accept fallacies, cultivate biases and find patterns - It all develops into a very self supporting belief. I understand god in a lot of ways, mainly as a goal or motivation, something to anchor and begin morality with, because w/o God some believers think there's no basis for morality. Some die on death row from old age rather than facing actual justice. That's a serious flaw in the justice system, and when someone is sentenced to death it should be carried out immediately, not 30 years after.

I know right… When it comes to murder cases, and cases even worse (like this one), I always say that there’s the actual victim of the crime - the one who was murdered, obviously. But they aren’t the only one victim. The parents that lost their child in such a horrible and painful way have been murdered too, a part of them at least. And that applies not just to the parents, but everyone who loved the victim dearly. Losing a loved one is terrible pain in itself, but knowing how much they had to suffer before dying just makes everything so much more painful… And for what…? All for a couple minutes of enjoyment for a sick monster.
I hope that the family can recover, as much as possible. I hope they manage to find peace.
And this time I sincerely hope that Hell exists, and this monster will eternally rot and suffer in it.

@@nordvestgaming1238 - I chose to reply to this subject here so at least it won’t be innundated by thousands of other replies.
You’re right about the function of the defense attorney in cases like this. Plainly put, someone has to handle the criminal’s paperwork if he’s going to be executed. The approach to defense in a case like this is going to be relatively passive. A defense lawyer doesn’t have to lie, and they can go a long way to persuade the defendant’s acceptance of the situation as you said. There’s a lot that goes on outside of court & there are things to be sorted out, like property, pets, family members, etc. The defense attorney is still a liaison in these cases, otherwise there would just be that much more hardship for the community.

    • @RashawnBlue1
      @RashawnBlue1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +26

@@nordvestgaming1238 This is wrong, the attorney is supposed to do everything they can to first have charges dropped first and foremost... dependent on the significance of the evidence they counsel the defendant on their chances to defeat a trial. It ultimately is up to the defendant, but attorney have a heavy hand. The next step is dependent on case, to reduce the possible punishment to client may receive. I don't know anything about this case (popped up in YT), so I don't know if this is a paid lawyer or court appointed. I know I would never want a public defender for example because chances are higher, they talk a person into a guilty plea despite whether or not they could defeat a prosecution and just go through the motions if the defendant chose to go to trial. This is in part due to their heavy case load and some of them just being "beginners".
If the attorney isn't doing what I mentioned above whether you are guilty or not, whether they think (or know) you are guilty or not, then you have a bad attorney. Yes indeed it does suck to know that one may have actually saved a murderer, rapist, and/or child abuser from punishment, but if the prosecution couldn't prove it to the jury, then so be it. It's the only way we can put some type of (still flawed) safeguards up to prevent wrongful convictions even if it means guilty can go free.

You must not be familiar with the criminal justice system. I've worked in the Florida criminal justice system for 25 years. It is not light on criminals. Your belief that it is goes against reality. More than 95% of people (approximately) take a plea. Many defendants are overcharged from the beginning, some are completely innocent. They are so afraid of going to trial because of the draconian consequences that they opt for the plea. You might be shocked to see the weak evidence that constitutes so many cases. There is a ton more I could write but I don't think anything I could say would convince you.

Sure, the plea may be ADJ CTS (adjudication and credit for time served). Now you are a convicted felon. There are about 100 negative collateral consequences to being a convicted felon. And don't get me started on drug possession where people are addicts. Such people would not be criminalized and would be treated medically in any civilized nation like the countries of Europe for example. But, the family that lost their 12 year old in a similar way to this family, dam near lost their minds. A neighbor waited until the mom went to work. The daughter was babysitting her younger brothers. He knocked on the door and the little girl answered. He raped her and cut her throat. He was so sick and twisted, that he posed her 12 year old body in a seductive way. Her mom tried to call and check on them several times. She went home and found her baby slaughtered. On average in the USA, each prisoner costs $36,300, which totals up to nearly $550,000 for 15 years on death row, that could easily be cut down by executing people sooner, especially if the allegations are proven without any doubt. There are of course cases of people being falsely convicted, and appealing does take time, but 15 years is extremely excessive, and why let them appeal if there is direct undeniable evidence.

Goes back decades and indicates CPS workers were involved too, perhaps even police as during the investigation, several pieces of evidence went missing under police custody. And later on, the German national police took over because of the severity, finding that the local police screwed up so bad, they literally missed several more disc's and tapes in the camp.
Why I am explaining this so much?
Because the in investigators have to review analyze every single piece of evidence they got. THOUSANDS of videos and pictures.
As if the quantity isn't bad enough, the content itself was so horrifying that several people had to quit the force due to sustaining severe psychological problems.
The case in itself was a game changer for policework here as the force essentially openly declared war against pedophiles. And it worked. Several operations hit the news, there were days where they reported a dozen raids happening at once in a single day, at the same time. And I mean big scale, arriving with a tiny army in itself at every location.

These crimes are the worst. Can’t even imagine how scared that child must have been. It should be an automatic sentence everywhere as soon as you intentionally hurt a child. Even when they survive they are scarred for life, and being a victim continues for generations later.

@@celinerichardson6229 yes probably. I don’t know the inner workings of the case and even if i did i’m not a judge nor do i have any legal expertise. The verdict seems just but again i don’t know of any mitigating factors or circumstance (not that theres any that i can think of) on top of that the American legal system works differently to my countries the main difference being we do not have capital punishment (death sentence) so as I’m unqualified to say definitively that this was the correct decision i can only form an opinion on what i know thus...probably
