      I've heard about this a while ago, but only just decided yesterday to have a go at it. I've been wanting to take up crochet and of course I'd want my first task to be an afghan 😂 but I've chosen more neutral colours leaning toward pastel / dusty hues. And for birthdays I'm using mustard. Separating each month with either white or grey.. I'm still deciding🤭

    Thank you for this useful video. I made my first temperature blanket in 2022. It was a crochet along and did the high temperature on Wednesday. I changed mine to be the high and low temp. It gave me more color variation and I enjoyed the entire process. I’m currently working on a pregnancy temperature blanket for my first grandchild. I’m using the high and low weekly temperatures. I’m also doing a second one for the year. They are addicting!

    This is probably the best explained temperature blanket video I've watched. As far as explanation, it's so much easier doing a single or half double crochet or even a double crochet. Compared to all the other temperature videos blankets out there. I like how you weaved in your ends over the top of the rows. That way no tails to be weaved in later. Thank you for this tutorial, I'm hoping I can get a copy of the charts you showed. On the temperature and hook size and stitch chart.

    Mikey this is really cool.. But like you we are up north, not in Canada, but Maine.. I think it would be really cool, and add some texture if on a snowy day, you did the purple and white together.. and in the summer maybe a grey added for rain and or thunderstorms. This is one of the things I love the most living in Maine, we never know what the day will bring.. This year we had over 45 days in the 80's and 90's, We never know what we are going to get. We are pleased now with this rain, this drought we have has got to go... But back to the blanket, I think it would be cool to add other colors to the main colors for snow, rain, humidity.. whatever..... Now to decide what yarn to use starting New Years Day..
    Thank You so much for the neat idea!!!!

    Fantastic looking and fun afghan. Now to check colours that I have. :) Temperatures in southern Alberta range from 30 C in summer to -40 C in winter, so this could get interesting. Maybe I'll need to only add rows once or twice a week... cause 365 rows sounds like the blanket would end up gigantic. LOL But it might make a really interesting wall hanging if I kept the width more receiving blanket size. Hmm... I have to go think about this. :)

    • @Mzdiana82
      @Mzdiana82 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      June Vollans Geez it doesn't sound like you guys have a time to even thaw out from the Winter months. I live in California and where I live we have temps of 20-40 Fahrenheit in Winter to 100-115+ in the Spring/Summertime. Today it was 88°F. I can't wait until it really cools off for a change! I couldn't function with where you live, that's extremely Cold!😊

    • @2CraftySeniors
      @2CraftySeniors 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It certainly can be. -40 C is -40 F, so it can get really cold at times. And generally we get a good lot of snow as well. But it can be very beautiful in winter, especially when a hore frost happens. Then all of the trees and bushes are covered with the most lovely frost and it's very magical. Then of course we get Chinook winds in the winter and all of the snow can go away and temperatures rise to the 20s C (68 to 70 F)/ Summer temps reach 90F though (which is 32C or thereabouts). Not as hot as California, but not so bad either. We get a lot of sunshine here, which tends to compensate for the cold in winter. Alberta is certainly an interesting place to live. I think it's a case of getting used to it. :)

    Can you only do one temperature a day, or can you choose to do more? I'm about to start mine, but it's probably only going to cover 7-8 months. Its a memorial blanket that shows my grandpas battle with cancer. Since it won't cover a full year, and the weather has been pretty crazy in Houston the past few months, I was thinking of doing the high and low of each day and maybe the daily average as well. I'm just not sure if it would ruin the effect.

    My question is simply if doing the temps of the day, how many stitches do you do for a single day? I mean, my temps can jump by 20 degrees in one day, which would put me in a different color, and then fall back down 20 degrees the next. So, again, how many stitches per day, or is it by ROW? Not knowing how to do this (and I cannot find the answer on a plethora of temperature blanket videos either), is stopping me from starting my blanket. I follow you, Mikey, all the time, for obvious reasons. Thank you!

    • @abeiradapraia
      @abeiradapraia 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know if you ever got an answer for this, but the number of stitches you do for a single day is the width you decided on for your blanket. For example, if you wanted to make a blanket that had a width of, let's say, 200 stitches, then that's how many stitches you would do for a single day.

  • @WhatSayCrochet

    How many rows do you recommend per day? I've read 1-3. Then I looked up more youtube videos. I found a video of a girl who made one and said hers ended up nearly 10 feet long, but she doesn't specify how many rows per day she did - 1, 2, or 3. I looked at a scarf that my mom crochet for me. 100 rows was about 9in. 9 x 3.65 (or 365 rows) gave me about 32 inches or just under 3 ft. So I figure if I did 3 rows each day it would be about 8 ft. You said yours was 10 ft? So how many rows per day did you do?

      I'd say start with whatever temperature you feel is really cold. So if you think 40-50 degrees is super cold, make that your "cold" color, then do smaller increments up to 100 degrees or so.

    • @isabellaclark9857
      @isabellaclark9857 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah like Sarah said, you could start at like 40-50 and go up to, idk, 120 and do increments of 10 or maybe even 5 degrees so you still have a range of colors in your afghan
