The spring-loaded plungers of the aftermarket float-valve needles have stiffer springs than those of the OEM float-valve needles. Note that the stiffness of the plunger spring does not affect the float level because a needle should seal against the valve seat BEFORE its spring-loaded plunger is compressed. In other words, float level is determined by the overall length of the needle with the spring of the plunger fully extended (uncompressed).
In the video, I mentioned that one area of wear is the interface between the needle and its seat. However, another area of wear, worth considering, is the interface between the spring-loaded plunger of the needle and the tang of the float. In vibration is excessive and/or after an extended period of time, a dimple may form on the tang. If the float is not adjustable, and the dimple is sufficiently deep, the float level may become too high, necessitating replacement of the float. If the tang of the float can be bent, it may be a good idea to polish out the dimple if possible (to prevent the spring-loaded plunger from binding up in the dimple) and then to readjust the float level.
