From a 3rd person perspective, players use a variety of weapons (pistols, machine guns, flamethrowers) and stratagems (turrets, airstrikes, etc.) to shoot and kill the alien threats. Players can also aim down the sights for a more accurate 1st person camera view. Combat is accompanied by frequent sprays of blood and dismemberment as players exterminate the alien forces or players and squad mates are hit by environmental explosions or friendly fire. Enemy encampments and battlefield environments depict bloodstains and dismembered corpses. Alright my proposed solution tof the DSS when it comes to orbital bombardment, just give a free fast charging 380 that any diver can deploy 30 to 60 second recharge to indicate gun calibration and it doesn't take any slot away from the divers while giving a powerful benefit for orbital bombardment without killing divers constantly makes the DSS feel powerful and useful and not a detriment, I heard the eagle storm was fine. But that's my suggestion, hell just provide a massive reduction to all stratigem recharge times when the DSS is in orbit to indicate that it's support in orbit with all the tools on hand. Make vehicles not have a deployment cap. It should feel broken as hell to have it I orbit
"Secure your privacy"? Just what kind of secrets are you trying to hide from Managed Democracy? A formal investigation of your behind the scenes activities will commence forthwith. Don't try to hide anything now. We'll find it.
Normally I like your takes, but I think you're wrong on this. The Orbital Bombardment wasn't that bad, though I agree that it should be tweaked. I suspect many changes are coming soon, that we should be looking forward to. Y'all be tripping without sinking enough time into it to properly understand the mechanics of it.
Honestly if they just changed the orbital bombardment to something like a super fast recharge stratigem that the divers can control it would change the whole situation
@@conscript900 Or just make it available as a free slot stratagem permanently w/e the DSS is, not that hard of a concept rather than a reinforcement draining...
The orbital bombardment being orbital laser instead would be so much better. You can actually see and mostly avoid the laser, and you don't always die when it hits you. Especially if you're wearing fire resist armor.
The problem isnt even the DSS. Its the content or lack thereof. We have pretty much no new missions and every Major order is mostly just flavor text for the same liberate/defense campaigns over and over again. Why should I even care if they fix the DSS? so I can use it on the same exact missions Ive played hundreds of times? When we were building the DSS we didn't get ANY special missions AT ALL. Like when we needed to populate it, I thought we could maybe see big new missions of escorting big groups of civilians to ships or something. Nope, same ol same old. They have so much potential for new and exciting missions they could make for these major orders but seemingly never do.
@@johnny394your totally wrong. Players having criticisms and critiques and wanting new stuff should do nothing but improve and strengthen the game. It’s not the players fault they lost 60 days reversing the issues they created by not listening to players to begin with and when they do listen to something it’s the echo chamber of a discord. Players wanting them to move the game forward or push out more content isn’t the problem the problem is Ahs mismanagement and lack of any kind of direction. Players have been more than understanding and patient and now it’s getting ridiculous because a new warbond that has maybe 1 or 2 items you might like isn’t gonna supplement the lack of content and it’s repetitiveness after you pretty much max leveled everything. this is a live service game it was marketed as a live service with a campaign that changes based around every players actions and it’s just been a slog, the major orders always have a new description but it’s always the same missions and it feels like the devs bring the campaign to a full stop because they overlooked something. Helldivers had a very strong launch and immediately built a fan base and it feels like they are unable to appreciate that or understand till they do something that drives more players away then they act all apologetic then do the same thing months later the PROBLEM is they have developed a reputation for every step forward the inevitably take two steps back then act like they don’t know what happened.
@AWonderingTraveIer gonna um actually you on this one. While I agree with you on pretty much everything you said, he isn't wrong. A big part of why the mechanics of the game keep breaking is because they don't test the new content before it ships. I mean, airbrush shrapnel for the devistator? Unlimited barrage for the rocket bots? A DSS that literally uses the out of bounds barrage with its targeting. Let's not forget about the whole flamethrower fiasco either. The pushing of content normally isn't bad, but in the case of AH right now, the gears are grinding so bad either they stop to fix it, or the whole thing goes under from the weight of poor mechanics being ham fisted into a broken machine. That's the point.
@@calumcampbell6435I see what you mean and I get it development is a rough job and the game should definitely function before new content but what’s going on in my head is “why don’t they have actual beta servers for experienced players to test the new updates before they drop” I like arrowhead but they keep backing themselves into corners and it just leads to them overworked and players unhappy. I think a big blame is them relying way too much on the community management to voice our wants and concerns instead of directly interacting with players like streams. I noticed they do polls a lot in their discord but it seems kinda pointless since a large portion of the players are banned for upsetting a power hungry moderator
Yeah, I at least wanted evacuation missions to progress the bar faster or something. Needing to defend full planets worth of people makes it feel like the devs don't quite understand the implications of that. Hundreds of thousands of people per planet, if not millions. To evacuate even half of one planet is a herculean task. So, we should have had a required amount of evac missions, at the very least. But obviously, I want to see new mission types, as well.
The biggest issue is that since launch whenever they drop new content they break the game. They can't fix broken stuff and release new content that will inevitably break things further. So they need to first finish fixing everything before adding new content.
@AMobutter it was another patch that had clearly been untested before it's release. How is it different from every other time? And the toxic way of how they've treated their fan base, is having an affect now on other games, it needs to stop.
The problem AH has is that they have had to spend months since launch fixing their idiot choices, instead of focusing on content to grow the player base. Pretty unbelievable.
Seriously! Ive wondered how much more wed have to play around with if they didnt have to back pedal and fix all the screw ups, might even have had bonafied cities by now
If arrowhead made a T-shirt, it would say “We know, we’re working on it. It’s almost like you should work on it before you release it and realize that you should’ve worked on it more.
@@josuemoreno1672 Exactly. Too many people are quick to complain about anything and everything. The eagle strikes with the DSS are great, the orbital bombardment needs work to be more effective at killing enemies and not just players lol but it's already pretty well-established that the DSS provides a way for more changes in future updates. Not sure why it's such a hot topic right now
So how many times are we supposed to accept their apology? When will we finally reach a point where they listed to the players and won't revert back to doing their bad ideas? Honestly I'm tired of it.
@@gamerbeast3616 "If you don't like it, don't buy it" I wish I was told at the start how this is going to go, as now I can't refund. I'd wager lots of other players (the majority in fact) would also have opted out of this game.
Man I remember telling people to stand on principle when "Buffdivers" came out; that just because they buffed some things doesn't mean they're listening to customers _at all,_ and people told me to shut up and be satisfied with "good substitute" rather than "what we fucking said". I'm always right about the worst things
really i dont understand what they were doing the whole time we were building the station. orbital bombardments and strafing runs already exists in the game, and lowering the re-enforcements is so damn easy. with a couple of tweaks they have copied and pasted pre-made content. it is profoundly lazy! if all we got for now were vehicles or some kind of semi-op stratagem. or hell even a extra stratagem slot, which is interesting and minimal effort i would be happy. i am in love with this game but this is starting to feel like an abusive relationship.
If that is the case I wonder if their developers are actually saboteurs that keep doing petty shit when their bosses aren't breathing down their neck, however it is normal that they drop updates before the weekend as they don't work on weekends. They've said numerous times that is the reason why they prefer launching content early in the week.
@@FlamingVaIIey Many previous happenings seemed weird decisions, at the very first months of the game some players were theorizing sabotage. Personally, i think it might as well be.
That thing about knowing things gone wrong in 30 seconds, thats actually quite literal. The fastest campaign failure I have seen is all 24 diver KIA within 2 minutes. 2 damn minutes and we lost the game. People gets blown up half way out of the pod, leaving only the leg standing. People dies soon as they try to push the first button to call down the shield, because the bombs drops right on top of them. People dies whether they are clumped up, or far away from each other. There are 5 matches I been in where people lost all reinforcement in 3 minute, but failing immediately in 2? thats a god damn record.
That would be just too simple, efficient and would work too well. Gotta overcomplicate it a little, so it breaks and needs to be fixed again and again.
Could you please stop with the misleading steam charts used in the video at 9:30. Like you look at it and it looks all bumpy and you look at the bottom graph and it's this huge drop off. But in reality the facts side with you if you would just display them properly. The up and downs on the graph are normal, they're the result of just daily cycles where some places are asleep. The bigger thing is that we peaked at 45k players following the buffdivers update. Since then we've seen a steady decrease in players from 72k peak on steam down to 30k peak, a loss of 58%. This wasn't a sudden drop off from the DSS, this was a slow decrease as people just got bored. The more important thing is looking at where it spiked for the DSS update, or more accurately that it didn't. The DSS brought no one back to the game even though it's supposed to be this big thing and AH is losing players just by simply not making any meaningful fun progression. Edits: To clarify and correct information. Some of my numbers were wrong and they have been updated. Also it appears people believed I was talking about the chart in the thumbnail. I wasn't, you gotta do what you gotta do to fight the yt algorithm, but the chart in the video was disingenuous.
If anyone feels like me I don't have something to grind for. Week long cooldowns on a half baked space station prevents me from stacking samples. The whole game is built around a goal and when you run out of things to build for it gets boring. They should have massive donation requirements with massive reward. Even if it's as simple as one or two extra stratagems it's still better than the current implementation. Make us work for upgrades and make threats to the station. Maybe even missions where we defend the station by defending breaches or by breaching Automaton capital ships.
Wouldn't it be awesome for the DSS to just be a straight buff like increased strategem capacity or quicker CD? Kinda tired of everything being a side grade or having a major drawback associated, maybe if it was a straight buff for the planet it was near it would unite players more to complete the major objective there.
Why is AH so scared to do something amazing? They play it far too safe and then just deliver nothing basically. I came to retire from Warframe to this game, but Warframe knew how to wow people, they got their stride and the followed up time and time again. Heres HD2 stragglin along.
actually uninstalled today, i dont find myself eager to play anymore, its just headache after headache and I cant keep letting stupid decisions slide. So many decisions were very clearly bad ideas but they made it through anyway and AH just keeps doing the same song and dance of "things will change we promise", im tired boss I just want it to be fun again but seems like AH has other plans. People will defend them and point to their apology but I judge people by their actions, not their words, and AH has shown me that they are incapable of addressing the core problems in their internal planning and QA
How to fix DSS first have two DSS one for bots one for bugs Second remove DSS Cool down on the DSS effects, whats the point of the space station if it just sits there doing nothing 3 each effect should be Reactive like by default the booster effect should always be on at least for normal Planets. The planetary bombardment should be for Gambit planets and should give us a massive liberation bonus. An Eagle storm is perfect. Doesn't really need to be changed except removing the cool Downs.
Arrowhead is like a bad girlfriend. She cheats on you, says she sorry and will change, gives is make up nookie, acts right for a few weeks, and then does it all over again
Arrowhead is the biggest test of self-sabotage ever conducted in the video gaming history! Not only do they not play thier game, they do not test whatever they are working on not even once! This is pathetic! The cooldown is just a god damm middle finger to the players!
You're embarrassing yourself with this level of exaggeration. The biggest test of self-sabotage? You seriously expect ANYONE to believe that Arrowhead has fumbled harder than Blizzard or Bethesda? Or self-sabotaged harder than Firewalk with Concord? What kind of mad gas are you huffing?
My concern is that they are putting LOTS of effort towards adding Illuminate & while they will be fun to fight for a few weeks, after that we will be exactly where we are at now. We need long term progression systems, vehicles, weapon customization & upgrades, city fighting alongside SEAF, new super destroyers etc. You can only dive so many times doing the same objectives before your playerbase loses interest.
You can only do so many things at a time. The illuminate were being worked on way before launch and are probably almost done and most of the stuff you suggested weren’t even considered until the game got popular. Don’t get me wrong I would like to see most of that stuff in the game but they need to focus on getting one thing done at a time *(preferably the illuminate since they are the closest to being done.)* instead of working on everything at once.
I think something to keep in mind tho, is that the fact that Arrowhead even listens to its community to begin with, is a very western luxury in this day in age. Japanese Developers are often completely disinterested in the voice of the community in western markets for months or years and will "take a peek over" whenever they feel the enthusiasm to do so. This sometimes CAN be a good thing because it will often end up being a very consistent product (Think Demon's Souls who even had a Sony Rep outright lambast the game, and the developers rightfully refused to budge on their dream). We have a unique situation with Arrowhead, and while it's probably easy to get frustrated at them for these situations, ya gotta appreciate the fact that they will eventually listen and adjust.
Seriously we need new mission types. Badly. We also need micro missions, 10-15 minute long missions so ot doesn't take and hour and half to finish a mission set. We need more missions types.
I think they should also fix some missions too. Like the Defend the Generators mission is boring, whenever I play it with people we end up just sitting around waiting for the enemies to spawn because our turrets, mines, etc kill them to quickly. I think if they made it so that the enemies spawned constantly and harder enemies like the bile titian, inpaler, etc slowly spawn more and more as the game goes on. It would remove the time waiting in between spawns of the enemies and in my personal opinion make it funner.
I feel like they really need above all, aside from a beta test environment, is something akin to Dead By Daylight's Fog Whisperers. People who have spent hours upon hours in the game to tell them what players do and don't like, since they clearly don't know themselves.
I've been reaching out to AH for months with hours of work outlining an entire endgame ecosystem & it was completely ignored. AH isn't interested in feedback, they just give it lip service.
*Out of the Helldiver role* Don't forget... The devs are playing too... As a "managed democracy" style of government... **Helldiver role** My body for Super Earth!!!! If the DSS KILLS ME, then it kills me!!!
The problem is the type of gamers the developers are - many are only barely gamers to begin with, but the vast majority of the ones who are, are pure YOLO players. That’s why they think the continuous orbital bombardment is good - “ROFL I just blew up!!! Big bomb go boom!!!!” Nothing wrong with a bit of screwing around, but turning the whole match into a 3 ring circus removes almost all skill from the equation. But to them, this is good, because they’re bad at the game. Sadly many live service games go down this route of catering to the lowest common denominator to increase player numbers and engagement (nothing wrong with that in principle, but it’s the way you do it that matters).
It wasn't a failure, it was a disappointment. It coming online was literally just a new feature being switched on. It was the community that decided beforehand that we were getting a massive content drop. The DSS is something that will gain features over time, as they've already said.
I can respect your comment now. Yea the game is a struggle between getting a nice update followed by disasters. It almost fills like we have a mole either on Super Earth or within the dev team. Still baffles me how the nerf decision was passed on without CCO's decision.
It really feels like they sloppily add stuff to the game and then wait for us to tell them if they did it right or not. Like yes, you're never gonna stress test new content nearly as much as a full player base of thousands, but... come on. It's like almost every single time.
That's so funny, I mentioned that months back. It was a horrible intro song. I would fast forward through it everytime. Then he changed it to a helldivers intro , and that was fire. But, sadly, changed it back a few videos later. Anyway, this one is much better than default.
I wish there was a way of Arrowhead just separating from Sony. I don't think they are bad devs, just inexperienced with massive live service and used to niche games.
The opportunity cost of consecutive, terrible nerfs and ‘balance’ patches is awful. Spend 4 months sucking the fun out of the game, then another 2 months trying to reverse course and fix those mistakes…to end up 6 months behind on new content and meaningful progression. A half-baked and poorly tested DSS is just the icing on the cake. It is a regression to the mean and a return to old habits for Arrowhead after the 60 day plan.
With the DSS, I was really hoping for some new stratagems or alternate versions of the ones we have. I was hoping that we could finally upgrade our gear and favourite guns and strats. Needless to say I was disappointed but thought I'd at least see what we were working so hard to protect. Until a reasonable use for samples and req credits gets implemented, I'm not sure if I'll keep consistently playing until another warbond is released.
Don't remember on which HD2 news channel I said this, but I'll say it again: The DSS should allow for an extra stratagem (shared between all party members) at the cost of a precentage of the req required to purchase it, with that boost lasting for one operation (Though probably no oribitals and maybe eagles). Heck, they should make the prices favour less used stratagems so Divers can try more experimental/creative loadouts without worrying about making the missions harder. I never expected a social hub, but DAMN did Arrowhead fumble the ball with this one. It's an community driven "booster", why not let the community decide how It'll function be it in game or via discord? "High-Command has asks Liberty's greatest soldiers to cast in their mandatory vote on what the Democracy Space Station should focus its resources on when construction finishes!" I've seen so many good ideas in the comments prior to its construction. Just get the playerbases opinion on things like this. Sweet Liberty.... Afterthough: Maybe you could order extra reinforcents as well (+1 per Diver)? Thx for reading. May Liberty guide your every step!
I love the idea, even two I would say, or let’s spice it up, one per squad can purchase a temporary stratagem for the duration of the operation (it will be given as a modifier)
@@CEOrobotSpace I like it!... But I actually added the [Team shared] thing as an attempt to balance it a little and to encourage that team aspect HD2 is all about (since ,you know, the DSS is meant to be more community driven), but that was my original line of thought! Although if that change was to be made I would limit it to 1 because the whole point of the stratagems is to carefully choose which ones to bring. 2 would be too much, especially since the modifer that gives everyone access to a stratagem that is already in game could be stack, and 3 extra stratagems is... a resource nightmare (for the devs. That's why we can't have 2 mechs as of yet)
@ totally understandable, I’m a explosive maniac, I make everything go boom so those are my barrages fantasies (like a 500KG barrage, which would be the same as napalm but instead you know)
Honestly, I think HD2 would benefit from a PTS (Public Test Server). Many games are benefited by players finding bugs, OP things, and broken builds before things go live. It would also keep people playing more b/c they would be interested in trying out experimental guns, weaponry, stratagems, ect. before they are officially added in the live game. In my head, the benefits outweigh the cost of running an extra server. If the devs don't test things or if their way of testing is flawed, let the community have at it.
I honestly feel like arrowhead doesn't know what they want to do with helldivers long term. they may have some ideas short term, but overall I get the impression that when they come up with something new, they just have no idea what direction they want to steer it in. I honestly wish they would just go the route of expanding the IP and making the universe of helldivers feel bigger then we the player are, instead of promising big things that we honestly don't really need and is just gonna serve to disappoint. I would love new planet variety, new playstyles, even just new bits of niche lore like the B-1317 bomber. just things that would cement helldivers identity as an IP and make it stand out.
I feel like it would help them to start doing releases like rainbow six siege. Some hot fixes here and there but every major update cover new features or mechanics sweep in with a seasonal update with a test server a few weeks prior to release.
Arrowhead is making it hard to log in. I am addicted to HD2, for sure. But they keep dropping the ball, and i am at the point now that when i mouse over the game launch .exe i am thinking "Its just the same old same old, and nothing has changed with the studio." So it leaves me feeling "Do i want to invest more time just to be disappointed again in the future.
@badwrongbadong So because i really like something in need to chill, it's not a career? Great feedback. Also, you quoted me wrong. I did not say I can't play. I said it leaves me feeling, "Do I want to invest more time to be disappointed?" But hey, if you need to twist words and take things literally to feel like you have some moral high ground, keep at it if this is what you find fulfilling in life. Cheers brother.
This is why developers need to play test games. Have a dedicated team for just play testing and debugging. I doubt a lot of the flops would have made it to players if proper QA was done.
This is what I expected to happen. They already messed up 3 times with their game. They never learn from their mistakes. They just can't seem to get this right.
This is also what I expected to happen, people cried for buffs because it was too hard, now the game is ridiculously easy and we don't have any newer content yet people are gonna keep complaining
@@JFK47x The problem is there being 10 difficulties, but like only 4 that actually matter with the differences between them being proportional to a 10 difficulty system. Half of the difficulty settings are immediately blocked by not dropping super samples and because of how the upgrade system works anything below 7 is a yawnfest after you get every upgrade.
overdramatic as usual getting upset over an additional gameplay feature lmao the devs are trying to make the game better and they don't always get it perfectly right at first but they've shown to improve the game based on community feedback. The DSS doesn't make the game worse in any way because you can just avoid it and play on any planet you want. The DSS still brings added chaos and support to make a more varied and fun experience and it also gives a reason to keep farming late-game resources.
I think ...this is all a bit too dramatic. We are ( im guessing) all grown men here. Its a video game that isnt perfect. Thats about as much as i expect from it. And im jealous of a kid playing this game. I bet its really awesome for them.
So many of these issues would be solved with a test server so these patches and changes could get a decent test before hitting the live server. Even a handfull of outside eyes would make a huge difference
To be fair arrowhead is not an anomaly, name one live service game in the last 3 years that doesn't or didn't have this exact problem because I can think of 20 games that are in the same boat as arrowhead so to blame them for these mistakes isn't quite fair when every game is making them
It's insane that no one in Arrowhead realized that bombing the location of a helldiver and not 100-200 metres away was a good plan. Specially with no marked areas information to be sent to the Helldiver's Visor to see the danger areas or limits of places being nuked... How no one checked this on a private server, as it would have taken just 1 helldiver's dive to find out how big of a F Up it was, just 1 dive... So I don't understand this self-sabotage they are doing. The DSS took a bit over 2 months to construct, and It should have been in the devs talks and planning maybe 2-3 months before we started building it. So how did the DSS development had no common sense or oversight is beyond reason... It looks like Beavis and Butthead designed the DSS, and then having a laugh at how they would nuke their own helldivers into Submission... Or if we want to do a Conspiracy theory, maybe this was engineered by Sony as payback for the pushback the PC gamers did on their game for not wanting to subscribe to their platform... and they hacked arrowhead and modified the DSS to target players(beautiful silly theory lol)... The revenge of the "Evil Regime" of game Consoles...
I really want for them to implement that "platoon" feature so I can team up with divers that I know who are part of a tight nit group. I'm kind of tired of playing with randoms most of the time only for them to leave and I never see any of them again. I do have players in my friends list but oftentimes their group is either full or they're simply offline depending on the hours of the day that I play.
I feel like Arrowhead is that kid that you tell a million times to stop touching the stove, and somehow, they still find different ways to burn themselves.
I think the idea of the planetary bombardment is really cool, but it needs to be tweaked for sure. I shouldn't get blown up by a shell landing on top of an objective terminal I was running towards, especially with 0 enemies in the area. I think if you were to get blown up because a shell targeted an enemy right on top of you, sure, that seems more fair. I don't see why they can't just give the DSS access to our player's minimaps and enemy detection to target the enemies or something. I also don't understand why the DSS doesn't implement some kind of buff 24/7 above the planet it's on. Wouldn't it make more sense to engage hellpod space optimization, or maybe one of the reinforcement boosters, all of the time under the DSS? and then orbital blockade could have some other effect tacked onto it. We also need to have a way to vote on the actions being used or something because filling them and they automatically activate is really bad.
I don’t think any of the recent criticisms are invalid, but I think if they just gave us more toys to play with like different guns and boosters it would take a lot of the pressure off of AHS when big things flop like the DSS. The return on investment of time put in from the players for what we got just wasn’t enough. I think it’s time to break the glass on the Illuminate.
@@justacomedianYou just watched too many content creators hype it up like it was gonna be a clan station, and have huge 10,000kg bombs when none of those leaks were actually confirmed.
I think it would be really cool if the DSS would just be that you can like put a special pin on the map and it would put the barrage there and when you specifically pin something (by clicking q) it would send an orbital strike on it. This would be really damn cool.
IMO, Helldivers 2 is a great 🎮. I'm a lvl. 130 elite diver. But even more, I'm a 38yrs. gamer and there's no game that's perfect. Everyone calm down. Great job AH. Keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍
It's ironic, I'm currently writing a paper in college about how we as a society need to take time to look at our past and use that information to influence our future. Now, I can see that very need in my favorite game. Not gonna lie it does hurt, but I'm committed to HD2, the foundation of the game is one of the best in my opinion, but we are seeing how the foundation only makes a portion of the gaming experience. Now we want to see how good they are at taking a great game and making it even better, with more creative and player-loved ideas. I sincerely hope that the devs can bring this back and that this great community can hold on in these times of doubt.
@@WatcherFromDeep He is like 12 years old, fan-girling over his favorite game. She is so blindly in love with the game, she cant see the red flags. Im also guessing they are pretty new to the game and at a low level, and have not been through the roller coaster of updates, and updates on updates, a lot of us have.
The single biggest complaint I have about AH, is that they seem to do a lot of things without really testing it before they release it. We spent the better part of two months worth of MO working on attaining the DSS, but the orbital bombardment felt like they literally just sent it without testing it, the Eagle Straff didn't even trigger initially for a couple hours into it, and the information on just what the 3rd one did was so vague we had no idea what it did until...it was active. So much of the DSS just feels like they were dangling a carrot in front of us for two months without really putting any thought/work into what it would actually do once we did attain it in game.
You are not being harsh enough. HD2 does not deserve any of the awards its been nominated in. AH has clearly not learned anything from all the feedback we gave em and keep giving em.
People are still butthurt that they didn't read. It literally said NONSTOP ORBITAL BARRAGE, and that's exactly what we got. "Oh, but it should have come with an indicator of where the shells are going to land." You mean like the default 380mm shells? Oh, wait, they don't give you any warning either. "But you know where the normal 380's are gonna be because of the beacon!" Yes, and you knew where the DSS barrage was going to be because it was planetwide. "Well, it needs breaks between volleys." Yes, because NONSTOP definitely means it's going to periodically stop.
Wanted to spread this idea I came across with the DSS: 1) The DSS needs massive passives. Think x2 or x3 XP for each mission applied to liberation, not to the helldivers and should prevent defense campaigns all the time. 2) Planetary Bombardment Make a unique artillery stratagem that is for free when the DSS Planetary Bombardment is active. I am thinking Mini Hell bomb shells. Almost the size of a 500kg but a little smaller. “Hell Shells” if you will. 3) Eagle Storm - 50% reduction on rearm. Arrowhead should have done a unique stratagem that would be free while active. Carpet bomber stratagem think x4 or x9 the size of an eagle strike. Should be able to destroy a large nest or base with one pass and a good throw. 4) Orbital Blockade - renamed “Helldiver Logistical Support”. Hellpod Space Optimization active for free. +1 (or more) Helldiver reinforcements. 50% cool down on all Equipment stratagems. Unique Free Stratagem “Overstocked Armory” (Calls in a random equipment/weapon stratagem on a consistent cool down timer.) Been submitted to the feedback forms but I think this is the best idea I have come across for what the DSS should have been.
I think honestly the biggest issue with the DSS is just how creatively bankrupt it is. The abilities are pre-existing stratagems, the concept is form star wars, and the model is literally just the model of a resupply station over mars.
Imagine where this game could be if they didn’t spend 70% of their resources making the absolute worst decisions and having to back track… They made a great cake in the beginning but decided to make too many layers of icing literal dog shit.
They don't need to make it do too much, just: 1. A free stratagem that we vote on what should be (chosing between 3-5 different and the one with the most votes is free for all to use for 24 hours while another is availiable for voting) 2. Hinder enemy influence (making it easier to liberate and defend planets). aka. permanent 3. Upgrades, we vote on what to build next and donate samples and req to build it, it will add a permanent bonus to the DSS, it could be faster cooldown to certain strategems, +1 to certain eagle stratagems, more reinforcements, a free OPS kinda strat on DSS planet, have certain POIs revealed on deployment (such as SEAF artillery sites, stalker lairs, radar stations) even be new weaponry for everyone, some things should only work on the DSS planet while fx. new weaponry is global. 4. POSSIBLE "social hub" where you can at the least be with your current squad (instead of your super destroyer). It needs to be a "mobile guild HQ mega destroyer base" kinda thing that we upgrade and gives us a major edge on the planet it's at. Also, REMOVE its planetary bombardment, that's a teamkiller.
When Helldivers 2 first launched, I joked about it feeling like an amateur project by a bunch of people who'd never developed a video game, and probably not even played one. I say "joked" because Arrowhead have been making video games for a decade, and presumably playing them for longer than that. The more they develop Helldivers 2, however, the less it feels like a joke. Somehow, these guys managed to shelter themselves from meaningful feedback to such a ludicrous extent that they are now actively learning in real time, right in front of our eyes. Credit where it's due - they ARE learning. I'm just gobsmacked about how they managed to go this long without learning what to the rest of us feel like obvious lessons. "Don't continuously shell your own players" seems like an obvious bit of information, but I guess we now have evidence to back it up.
If they, at least, let us pick an extra stratagem in the planet where the DSS is deployed I believe there would have been less backlash with how luckluster the DSS is and the frekin huge cooldowns after we spent all those samples...
it wasnt a failure, it was a disappointment, it was more or less just a feature being turned on, I get they have been working on other things for future content drops but it still feels just a tad lazy, then again I have to admit It was the community that decided beforehand that we were getting a massive content drop. The DSS is something that, as far as I understand, will gain features over time, as they've have apparantly intended, still cant help but feel a little disappointed but it is what it is, I'll give AH the benefit of the doubt, afterall as long as I have my homies to play with I'll keep diving, its still fun afterall imo
We lose territory faster in 24 hours than liberating a planet in 3 days. Liberated the same planet 30+ times, only to lose it again in 1 day, for the 50th time. Looking at the galaxy map looks overwhelming, because we have no progress, ever.
Leftenant Buzz hit the nail on the head, this formula AH is using a strategy similar to weaponized incompetence where gamers will not be able to demand what is to be expected of a very succesful AAA studio. This "release, oh its shit let us fix, fix, repeat" has made the new content release be a drag, new content is "goodish" but we can all see the warbonds are being filled with fodder to not develop more stratagems or weapons. They are on the thin line and its about to break for good.
Arrowhead is basically the Gungan Army. They thought that bubble Shields and manpower could solve their problems in the face of overwhelming artillery.
Why are there so many haters in the comments right now, all talking about clickbait titles and overly negative, what the hell y'all on about now. Y'all must have Gelman amnesia
Honestly, I've been able to dodge most of the issues just by not playing the game when it's bad. I know this is many peoples "game" that they play every day, but perhaps having a few different things to play can help take out the sting.
"We learned, and we're committed to doing better in the future"... "We messed up, but we're gonna do better" -we get an improvement... "we learned... Rinse and repeat.
I get the game engine is terrible and their working on old code but they should test their stuff before releaseing it, even if it takes longer ill rather wait than it not working
For those on the Bot Front: Look to the Left Flank. All low Planetary Regen Rates. Control would allow for FTL Lines up the whole left flank. The Right Flank appears to have some low regen rates as well. Instead of going into the center, surrounded by enemy attack vectors we could take the flanks and set the Bot inside a large Pincer Move. We, as a community, don't seem to know, understand, or appreciate the Planetary Regen Rates and the effects on our efforts. However: This info REQUIRES a 3rd Party Site at this time, should be IN the game. So no wonder most aren't aware.
As a lvl 115 i have no reason to come back or even trust Arrowhead. For the last few months they've just been wasting my time. People say the weapons upgrade was good. But its abhorrent it even got so bad. Now again we get lies over lies with work that makes them seem like they are actively working in negatives. The dss is nothing but a menu we had to grind for. All the extra bs makes it so i might play once in a while but Arrowhead and thier ways have put me off.
For gods sake, we are 9 months into the release and we STILL dont have the illuminate on the map. I was bored of the bugs and bots a long time ago. They have gone back and forth on so much shit in the game and I am tired of the constant slingshot between having a good game for a few weeks, then a shit game for a few weeks, then a terrible game for a few weeks and then a great game for a week before they screw something else up again because theyre too stupid to figure out that to succeed, all they have to do is cater to the players and put new shit into the game. I have uninstalled the game. This is Star Marshal Brutus of the SES Whisper of Destruction, retiring from service.
@@gamerbeast3616 Yeah, you and the other 5% of the remaining playerbase that have so much brain rot that you cant fathom that the game does not deserve your loyalty, or that there are better games out there that are more worthy of your time. Shitty developers should not be rewarded. Idiots like you are why we have companies like Ubisoft.
for me if they rework the DSS, when ping a objective, continuous orbital barrage will be strike until all the factories and main objective are cleared. second buff would be helldivers unlock massive buff for heavy armor, like double the padding from 150 to 300, increase another 25% reduction damage, stamina recovery to 100, and speed 500. Last buff would be when you throw a eagle strike, instead of one eagle, it will be five eagle aircrafts grouping like a V shape that bombard the area with unlimited used. this massive eagle strike would just work like a eagle strafe with a fair safe distance for the diver.
Nordic companies have this in common - when problem emerges and people are pissed about it, they can apologize, make perfect plans, give themselves time. After some time however they ignore it, because they have workers onboard that DON'T CARE. Boss of their company have only excel sheets which are green, so that means everything is OK.
I find it odd how over 3/4th of the player base never expects the worst of the worst from a Game Studio that only has a Dev count of about 100 people. Cant even be mad at this point.
I feel like most are over reacting the moment it didn't do exactly what they wanted. I've been having fun with the dss and I'll live cause the employees on this fictional base are brand new cut em some slack
The DSS is overall a good thing I think. It's just that there was ao much hype and potentially for it that most people didn't expect it to be implemented this way. It's definitely a bit tiresome to have to keep waiting for AH to tweak their past updates and fall behind on new content. However, I'm personally not sure what they could do besides just go one or two extra miles further than they think they have to in order to release great stuff
I know it's not entirely their fault because they were already developing the game when it got canned, but hearing so many things get a response along the lines of "The engine can't handle it" makes me worried for the longevity of the game.
Look, we can talk about this all we want about DSS, Vehicles, etc. Here's a ground-truth report: WE NEED MORE AND DIFFERENT VARIETIES OF MISSIONS! We need some urban environments, residential or industrial environments. How about an escort mission, or activation of something underground, or give us a team of marines with a helldiver drop team to clear an area, maybe something like a "Halo-esque" mission progressing through a deserted town full of baddies?! Frankly, I'm TIRED of launching ICBM's, evacuating people, gun-toting grease monkey for filling ships with oil, etc. How about something inside of a building, instead of hollow digitally-flawed structures that collapse under any stress? I don't need an entire Halo Campaign, I just want some damn variety. And no, that DSS isn't getting a single F'ing sample of mine until I see some changes...
i love helldivers since the first game but i am done playing with this game... for now As a fellow game dev for a indie game i understand that it is not easy for AH but they make constant bad decisions and DON'T LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES, i truly don't want to see this game die but if they don't TEST and FIX stuff before release they will destroy their reputatuion and their game The DSS took such a long time just to be mediocre at best and for it to get "better/updated" later

HELLDIVERS™ 2 is a 3rd person squad-based shooter that sees the elite forces of the Helldivers battling to win an intergalactic struggle to rid the galaxy of the rising alien threats.

I was expecting you to be the sponsor again Buzz 😂
Normally I like your takes, but I think you're wrong on this. The Orbital Bombardment wasn't that bad, though I agree that it should be tweaked. I suspect many changes are coming soon, that we should be looking forward to. Y'all be tripping without sinking enough time into it to properly understand the mechanics of it.
For me, I've finally given up on HD2; there are far too many games out that I can play instead, and I haven't been having fun in HD2 for weeks now.
Here's a simple buff for the DSS: if the DSS is in orbit, you get unlimited charges for mechs and orbital lasers.
Man isnt updated in what AH
Said, dss early state theyre eventually do smemthinf on it mext week or something
The orbital bombardment being orbital laser instead would be so much better. You can actually see and mostly avoid the laser, and you don't always die when it hits you. Especially if you're wearing fire resist armor.
@@GoodBoyGoneDadngl, the sight of 10 perpetually always active orbital lasers just beaming their way around the map would be kinda insane....
Apologies mean nothing if you just keep doing the same thing over and over
Same thing, it's a different mistake
@AMobutter it was another patch that had clearly been untested before it's release. How is it different from every other time? And the toxic way of how they've treated their fan base, is having an affect now on other games, it needs to stop.
The problem AH has is that they have had to spend months since launch fixing their idiot choices, instead of focusing on content to grow the player base. Pretty unbelievable.
Seriously! Ive wondered how much more wed have to play around with if they didnt have to back pedal and fix all the screw ups, might even have had bonafied cities by now

Man I remember telling people to stand on principle when "Buffdivers" came out; that just because they buffed some things doesn't mean they're listening to customers _at all,_ and people told me to shut up and be satisfied with "good substitute" rather than "what we fucking said". I'm always right about the worst things
Most of the buffs was literally just more ammo at that
really i dont understand what they were doing the whole time we were building the station. orbital bombardments and strafing runs already exists in the game, and lowering the re-enforcements is so damn easy. with a couple of tweaks they have copied and pasted pre-made content. it is profoundly lazy! if all we got for now were vehicles or some kind of semi-op stratagem. or hell even a extra stratagem slot, which is interesting and minimal effort i would be happy. i am in love with this game but this is starting to feel like an abusive relationship.
They weren't testing the DSS. That's for sure.

Call me a conspiracy theorist but pilsted and shams being out for the weekend and the DSS dropping in this state seems to match up perfectly...
If that is the case I wonder if their developers are actually saboteurs that keep doing petty shit when their bosses aren't breathing down their neck, however it is normal that they drop updates before the weekend as they don't work on weekends. They've said numerous times that is the reason why they prefer launching content early in the week.
I think they are the only 2 in AH know how to do game right. I sincerely hope they bail out soon coz AH is destined to fail.
@@FlamingVaIIey Many previous happenings seemed weird decisions, at the very first months of the game some players were theorizing sabotage. Personally, i think it might as well be.
Let's be honest even if those two scam artists were at work instead of taking another vacation, the DSS would still be absolute garbage
There are 5 matches I been in where people lost all reinforcement in 3 minute, but failing immediately in 2? thats a god damn record.
yeah the groups i've seen succeed use heavy explosive armor haha
You got demolished lol! I’m 150, but I’m glad I stopped playing right after I donated the very first set of resources to the dss
Recommended new development cycle:
AH: We have this cool idea. What should it do?
Players: tons of good ideas
AH: considers and implements
Simple enough.. and let’s quiet down those leakers.
Bro what the fuck are you talking? We had almost 50k divers last week, almost every day

Can’t wait for this to be the top comment in the next video and him having to explain himself
@@kingaxolotl262I wouldn’t bet on it
Wouldn't it be awesome for the DSS to just be a straight buff like increased strategem capacity or quicker CD? Kinda tired of everything being a side grade or having a major drawback associated, maybe if it was a straight buff for the planet it was near it would unite players more to complete the major objective there.
Yeah i had the same idea one more stratagem, automatic reinforcement, and the supply booster should just be default to fighting under the dss.
I agree! And a buff we could do is gaining a second orbital charge (similar to eagles)
Why is AH so scared to do something amazing? They play it far too safe and then just deliver nothing basically. I came to retire from Warframe to this game, but Warframe knew how to wow people, they got their stride and the followed up time and time again. Heres HD2 stragglin along.
Exactly same here, but good thing is we can always go back to wf. After playing Stalker 2 I’m going back to wf1999🎉

How to fix DSS first have two DSS one for bots one for bugs
Second remove DSS Cool down on the DSS effects, whats the point of the space station if it just sits there doing nothing
3 each effect should be Reactive like by default the booster effect should always be on at least for normal Planets.
Also need higher difficulty than 10, might as well call that one trivial
search and destroy missions:
I feel like they really need above all, aside from a beta test environment, is something akin to Dead By Daylight's Fog Whisperers. People who have spent hours upon hours in the game to tell them what players do and don't like, since they clearly don't know themselves.
I've been reaching out to AH for months with hours of work outlining an entire endgame ecosystem & it was completely ignored. AH isn't interested in feedback, they just give it lip service.
@lancebennington5327 now I'm curious what ideas you had. That is, of course, if you're fine sharing here on YT.
*Out of the Helldiver role*
Don't forget... The devs are playing too... As a "managed democracy" style of government...
**Helldiver role**
My body for Super Earth!!!!
Counter all this by referring to the 60 day patch rework after what 6 a 7 months. Cause I really wonder if they are GAMERS at all.
I still like Helldivers 2. The DSS was a massiv Failure. Something has to be done in this Companie to prevent this from happening
not a failure at all
@@gamerbeast3616 its clearly a failure. People hate it. Stop fan-girling and start seeing facts.
That intro music was so much better. I always muted the old one.
Still waiting for our democracy buggies. (Let the DSS be the manufacturer plant.)
You really think it will work on release? I don't. Maybe 60 days later lol
The launch of the DSS was flawed... says Twinbeard. Everything that has been launched has been flawed. That's the issue!!!!!! That's why we are mad!
But when it works it's so damn good
Don't remember on which HD2 news channel I said this, but I'll say it again: The DSS should allow for an extra stratagem (shared between all party members) at the cost of a precentage of the req required to purchase it, with that boost lasting for one operation (Though probably no oribitals and maybe eagles).
"High-Command has asks Liberty's greatest soldiers to cast in their mandatory vote on what the Democracy Space Station should focus its resources on when construction finishes!"
I've seen so many good ideas in the comments prior to its construction.
@ totally understandable,
I’m a explosive maniac, I make everything go boom so those are my barrages fantasies (like a 500KG barrage, which would be the same as napalm but instead you know)
I wonder when we get armor that protects us from bots and bugs instead of each other and our own self friendlyfire....
But they keep dropping the ball, and i am at the point now that when i mouse over the game launch .exe i am thinking "Its just the same old same old, and nothing has changed with the studio."
So it leaves me feeling "Do i want to invest more time just to be disappointed again in the future.
same here
If you're "addicted" to hd2 just try Deep Rock Galactic. You'll be worse than a crackhead millionaire I promise😂
Its a game dude. Not your career. Chill and play if fun, if it isnt, move on. “I cant play now cause i might get disappointed later” makes 0 sense
They just can't seem to get this right.
they learn super slowly
This is also what I expected to happen, people cried for buffs because it was too hard, now the game is ridiculously easy and we don't have any newer content yet people are gonna keep complaining
@@JFK47x
The problem is there being 10 difficulties, but like only 4 that actually matter with the differences between them being proportional to a 10 difficulty system. Half of the difficulty settings are immediately blocked by not dropping super samples and because of how the upgrade system works anything below 7 is a yawnfest after you get every upgrade.
@gabrielc7861 Yeah I agree the inconsistencies with the difficulty really need some attuning
overdramatic as usual getting upset over an additional gameplay feature lmao the devs are trying to make the game better and they don't always get it perfectly right at first but they've shown to improve the game based on community feedback.
The dss is a half baked idea.
baked idea
Helldivers 2 is too good of a game to be stuck with Arrowhead.
This comment hits harder than most people give it credit for.
Oof. That is a harsh truth
Very well put
Dang.. gonna need a reinforcement for that one because you just obliterated Arrowhead with a 500kg fact
this is why my steam rweview will stay negative. Allways the same cycle
The DSS needed unique stratagems which is what I was expecting.
What new toys? A warbond doesn't help much, and isn't really much new content.
Keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍
HD2 testers must be completely incompetent, nonexistent, or completely overwhelmed by "yes men"
I really can't handle the doom posting anymore. Enjoy the game or stop playing it ngl
I've decided to quit Helldivers. Too many second chances, hope yall have fun.
bye hater we wont miss you
@@gamerbeast3616 the only hater here is you
@@WatcherFromDeep He is like 12 years old, fan-girling over his favorite game.
"Oh, but it should have come with an indicator of where the shells are going to land."
You mean like the default 380mm shells? Oh, wait, they don't give you any warning either.
"But you know where the normal 380's are gonna be because of the beacon!"
Yes, and you knew where the DSS barrage was going to be because it was planetwide.
"Well, it needs breaks between volleys."
Yes, because NONSTOP definitely means it's going to periodically stop.
All I know is it will be fixed, im not gonna get mad and say the game is trash and all that bruh
Wanted to spread this idea I came across with the DSS:
1) The DSS needs massive passives. Think x2 or x3 XP for each mission applied to liberation, not to the helldivers and should prevent defense campaigns all the time.
2) Planetary Bombardment
Make a unique artillery stratagem that is for free when the DSS Planetary Bombardment is active. I am thinking Mini Hell bomb shells. Almost the size of a 500kg but a little smaller. “Hell Shells” if you will.
3) Eagle Storm -
50% reduction on rearm.
Unique Free Stratagem “Overstocked Armory” (Calls in a random equipment/weapon stratagem on a consistent cool down timer.)
Been submitted to the feedback forms but I think this is the best idea I have come across for what the DSS should have been.
I think honestly the biggest issue with the DSS is just how creatively bankrupt it is. The abilities are pre-existing stratagems, the concept is form star wars, and the model is literally just the model of a resupply station over mars.
Imagine where this game could be if they didn’t spend 70% of their resources making the absolute worst decisions and having to back track…
They made a great cake in the beginning but decided to make too many layers of icing literal dog shit.
They don't need to make it do too much, just:
1. A free stratagem that we vote on what should be (chosing between 3-5 different and the one with the most votes is free for all to use for 24 hours while another is availiable for voting)
2. Hinder enemy influence (making it easier to liberate and defend planets). aka. permanent
I think we need a BIG fart sound to describe the rollercoaster of bubble gut this ride has been.
It's a roller coaster, like watching a sitcom "What hijinks will the Arrowhead family get up to THIS week?! Tune in to find out!"
You know its serious when there is no opening teaser and we go right into the title sequence
Why are there so many haters in the comments right now, all talking about clickbait titles and overly negative, what the hell y'all on about now. Y'all must have Gelman amnesia
Am I the only one still happy with the game?
The DSS killing divers is hilarious. It fits the universe. It's a cheap game, just play.
The answer to the question why X happened, I suspect, is "severe alcoholism". Arrowhead devs need a collective intervention.
For those on the Bot Front:
Look to the Left Flank.
Man's got his first Ad!🥳🎉🎉
For gods sake, we are 9 months into the release and we STILL dont have the illuminate on the map. I was bored of the bugs and bots a long time ago. They have gone back and forth on so much shit in the game and I am tired of the constant slingshot between having a good game for a few weeks, then a shit game for a few weeks, then a terrible game for a few weeks and then a great game for a week before they screw something else up again because theyre too stupid to figure out that to succeed, all they have to do is cater to the players and put new shit into the game.
I have uninstalled the game. This is Star Marshal Brutus of the SES Whisper of Destruction, retiring from service.
we wont miss a hater like you
@@gamerbeast3616 Yeah, you and the other 5% of the remaining playerbase that have so much brain rot that you cant fathom that the game does not deserve your loyalty, or that there are better games out there that are more worthy of your time.

@@gamerbeast3616 And we'd rather see you gone.
for me if they rework the DSS, when ping a objective, continuous orbital barrage will be strike until all the factories and main objective are cleared. second buff would be helldivers unlock massive buff for heavy armor, like double the padding from 150 to 300, increase another 25% reduction damage, stamina recovery to 100, and speed 500.
Fr all I see is complaining
The DSS is overall a good thing I think. It's just that there was ao much hype and potentially for it that most people didn't expect it to be implemented this way. It's definitely a bit tiresome to have to keep waiting for AH to tweak their past updates and fall behind on new content.
However, I'm personally not sure what they could do besides just go one or two extra miles further than they think they have to in order to release great stuff
Let's be honest... Helldivers 2 is dying because Sony has lost the plot.
is that dev known for fubaring up other games still the main balance dev in HD2? If so... we have our answer.
And no, that DSS isn't getting a single F'ing sample of mine until I see some changes...
i love helldivers since the first game but i am done playing with this game... for now
As a fellow game dev for a indie game i understand that it is not easy for AH but they make constant bad decisions and DON'T LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES, i truly don't want to see this game die but if they don't TEST and FIX stuff before release they will destroy their reputatuion and their game
The DSS took such a long time just to be mediocre at best and for it to get "better/updated" later
Through all the ups and downs, Helldivers 2 still scratches an itch that no other game that I'm aware does.
