I appreaciate so much how you now started dissecting his lyrics bc this is the album where you obviously started seeing he had something to say. His message keeps repeating. He already said the same when he was still with the Jacksons "Can you feel it" it only evolved and was the entire time the same thing. It was the true essence of his being. Even when on a drip under medications his true heart and care was the same. He cared so much. Too much. Why it is so unfathomable how his image was so unjustly twisted when we all know the depth of love he felt. The empathy of this man is probably what is missing in these ppl who flipped it.
Artists at times care for their art as if they were "babies" and once its recorded they feel like they have to let them go and it is what it is even if in their heads its still evolving. Michaels relationship to this song has never ended. He worked on it all his life although it was released on HIStory. He worked on it in the 80s and there were notes and handwritings found on his death bed where he still was working on it. Earth song is a song that seemed he had not really have let go ever.
I was smiling when he started the bridge "I used to dream..." thinking Seph now knows what a bridge is thanks to the Mexico depos. ;-)))
The chorus is in my opinion the wheeping and crying of the planet.

He did often have some humanitarian message in most of his albums, often overlooked or drowned out by his more digestible songs. I would say Man in the Mirror is his moment of introspective evolution, after the bad album he really dove into spirituality and more relatable concepts for his songs.

Impossible not to feel something with this song! Michael has that effect! Also he wrote an incredibly beautiful touching poem about the Earth ❤ also I love what you said about his clothes! For some reason I have never actually paid attention to what he was wearing but now that I think about it I'm sure it had a purpose and I agree that he wanted to appear more relatable to the poor or people who are struggling as if to say "I am just like you" "I feel your pain", so beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and for now giving me a new look on what was already such a special deep beautiful song/video to me! The way he sings the verses conveys such sadness, and by the end he is just letting out his frustration and screaming in hopes his message is heard!

Great reaction and i'm so happy it had the effect it did as it's such a powerful song. I truly recommend his song "We've Had Enough" it's not in his main discography (it came out on a boxset) but it's message is in the same vein as Earth Song & They Don't Care About Us and it's lyrics are some of my absolute favourites for the same reason as they just hit SO HARD like this did.
There's also a demo for Earth Song called 'What About Us' that you can listen to as that was it's original name. The Chorus was intentionally catchy and without lyrics because he wanted everyone in the world to be able to sing along no matter what language you spoke or country you were from.
And without trying to give spoilers (i only say this because it's relevant to the song and because it shows you just what a good person he was) in his last rehearsal the night before he died he did Earth Song and one of his final messages to the people around him he was talking about protecting the earth and that we needed to do something about it. To me it was his final goodbye to us asking us to take care of it for him and i think it showed the true essence of who he truly was. You'll see his speech and the rehearsal when watching the movie This is it.
His lyrics on this song are some of his absolute best imo he just keeps getting better.
Now i'm just gonna go back to giggling like an idiot for your reaction to You Are Not Alone don't mind meeeee.

Did you know that “Earth Song” actually does not have a lyrical chorus because Michael wanted to do a chorus that anyone around the world no matter what language they spoke understood so the chorus goes like “Aaaaaaaaa aa oh ooh oooh” It’s a chorus not to be understood by words but rather felt and understood you can hear it’s a pleading, sadness and calling for our bleeding planet. Such a great message that unfortunately still is relevant today in protecting our beautiful earth

This emotive Michael masterpiece brought out my favorite facets of your character, namely your sense of morality, humanity, decency, and compassion. Characteristics that unfortunately are increasingly rare in our society of self importance at the expense of everything and everyone around us.
We're soiling our nest and now we have to live in it. We treat each other badly and wonder why we are so unhappy. I love your anecdote about smiling at those you pass on the street. I go on frequent walks and am amazed at how infrequently those around me will return friendly eye contact, a smile, or "hello".
You look so damn handsome here, Seph.

      @SephPlays  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Ooo I love what you said here!! "We're Soiling our nest and now have to live in it" wow this really does sum up everything!
And yes i agree with you on strangers. I do quite often crowd watch. I'll sit on a bench eat some lunch and observe people as they walk by. 90% of them have their noses in their phones and are completely oblivious to the world. And the other 10% look completely miserable. It's rare to see people holding hands here too. It feels like we are disconnected from eachother as a society, we are more interested in whats happening about Taylor swift or some big companys then we are our own family and friends and neighbors.
A "Hello" from someone you are sitting next to on a bus or train is actually extremely rare. And goodluck getting a conversation past the weather.
I spoke to this guy from Ireland the other day, he was down here to watch some football. He was wearing a t-shirt i used to wear, i said to him that I owned the same one "It was a reebok branded one" then I complimented his shoes and that's how we got on to football. Personally don't like football much. But it's just nice to be able to talk to people, always a pleasure to hear someone talk about things they are passionate about. 😄

This is one of my first memories of MJ as a child. As a little german child, I didn't understand what he was saying but the words didn't matter because I understood him on a soul level. I remember watching it in awe and it was the first time I realized how big this world is, that it went beyond my childhood home and the neighboring streets😄
I wanted to listen to it again desperately and asked all the adults around me but I didn't know what it was called. I just said it's about the world and it sounds really big😂😂 They didn't know what song I was talking about. For some years I thought I had imagined it but then one day TH-cam recommended "Michael Jackson - Earth song" to me and just looking at the title I knew then this is what I'd been searching for. Because it really is the "earth's song". You can hear the earth weeping in it.

Hearing this was what made Michael Jackson go from being just the really cool singer and dancer my parents liked to being one of the people I admired the most in the whole world. It honestly is such a masterpiece that doesn't even feel like a song, it's a call to action for humanity and a prayer to God. It shows Michael both at his most vulnerable and at his strongest.
He is the person spreading a message that everyone needs to hear, but he is also saying that he feels lost and can't do it alone. His voice is the one soaring through the skies as the world is healing, but only after he fell to his knees and prayed for someone/something higher to do what he could not. He is pointing out all the lies behind the promises that destroying the world will somehow make life better, but he isn't really saying he isn't part of the problem himself - What about all the things that you said WE were to gain? What about all the dreams that you said was yours and MINE? What have WE done to the world? Where did WE go wrong? Do WE give a damn?
He was a force to be reckoned with, but he was also incredibly humble. You can feel how much he cares. You can hear the despair and the hope. Earth Song really is him opening his heart up and anyone who is genuinely listening to message can't help but be touched by it. And because he was a creative genius whose influence could not be denied even after years of people lying on him, the message lives on through his art, just waiting for new listeners to connect with it and take action like he did - after all, while he did not magically fix the world, he brought joy to millions and always did everything in his power to help as many people as he possibly could. He did his part and is telling us to do the same.

The world really needs Michael right now, we need his message of love peace and unity more than ever, damn he is missed!! The one who truly cared when no one did, and in return what did he get?? Disrespect and hate, we did not deserve this man... a shame... RIP. If he was alive right now I think he would be incredibly saddened and heartbroken with the situation of the world, and at the same time I bet he would still be putting out hopeful inspiring songs for us during these difficult times and would do his very best to help through charity work. At least his masterpieces will last for all time.

Seth,You are so right, about M.J. songs, most of his songs are indeed messase sog, if you noticed his first albums starting from his youth up to his Off The Wall albums were vpretty much fun productions: But, pay attention to the transition of his songs, (he still sang fun and ballards) however, this is when he started singing more Message songs, yet some people hardly paid attention to the lyrics, for the reason you just said ( his productionn was /is so awesome, you find yourslf boobing to the beat) therefore missing the message that he is conveying,
    M.J.,
Was so awesme, to (me) it seems like, he was born in a world, that was not ready for him, yet he, was in the exact era where he belonged and thank God that he gave us M.J.
    Our Michael
    Forever loved and Missed😊❤
Have a great weekend, Moonwalkers: I love you, for real though!

In addition to the story the song tells, the quality of the music and the production behind it should be emphasized. In terms of sound, the song is a masterpiece. A choir and a full symphony orchestra were brought in. It was recorded over 5 years from 1990 to 1995 and was originally intended to appear on the Dangerous album. The last part of the song was originally sung as a falsetto, but shortly before the end of the album recordings he decided to re-record it in a more aggressive tone, straining his vocal chords to the point of damaging them.

Wow! I guess this is a song with a very powerful message, I thought the song 🎵 would be about the investment (because it's title Earth 🌎 Song ♥️ 🎵)but I guess it's more than that, like it could be an Anti war song 🎵 to all wars (including after 9/11 and beyond), also in the video 📹 it ❤️ looks like he's somewhere in Africa 🌍 and it's catching on fire 🔥 and wildfires can be anywhere including North America 🌎 🇺🇸 💙 and you probably heard that we have mascot that helps you prevent that (even if you don't live in the USA, you probably heard of him anyway)and that's Smokey the 🐻 Bear... also I think some charities might be scams (so you be careful with that [issues]), also I think this song 🎵 also would speak to everyone (including for those who live indigenous tribe's)?... well that's all for now thank you for sharing this Seph I appreciate it. 😀 ❤
