With 3 grown kids plus you it would be prudent next time to get 2 rooms. 1 for you and your spouse and another for the kids. No room can fit 5 people comfortably especially in a hot climate.
I can’t even share a room with one person ( significant other not included..maybe)!! Five people in one room!!! I mean…..😒😒!!! I have never been to an all inclusive that allows children, I would rather have a hot room and bad food, than be stuck on vacation with kids running around in the hotel to be honest!!lol!
Some people can be so ignorant... There are clearly all adult resorts and resorts for the family. So kids should not be allowed on vacation at a resort🤔🤔.. You can not share a room with your significant other🙄..lmao ridiculous. 5 people can share a room in most resorts. 5 is the max. But what does that have to do with the AC not working🤷🏾♀️ Thank you for your review... I will not stay there!!!🙅🏾♀️
All resorts should have AC. A standard double room is meant to fit 5 people max, what you’re saying makes no sense. Most families do not get a separate room for kids.

Before you go always check the reviews. I checked it on website and this resort is only 4.1/5, I only book the resort which is above 4.5. Just my own opinion.
Just came back from Cancun . We stayed at the Riu Dunamar . The same size of beds as I saw in your blog. Overall experience was good. The food was amazing. No AC issues water in pools were warn . Soory for your experience especially with your kids. Thanks for sharing your blog and thanks for the heads up on this hotel. Since we’re planning in vacationing in Cabo next year.
I was in Riu Dunamar a year ago, there were a few things that bothered me. but it's a matter of what is expected. it is a party hotel at the end of the world. we were with 2 small children. parties in the hotel were loud and lasted until late hours. we had a stroller, they didn't have a wooden path on the sand to the beach. the kids aqua park only had stairs (I had to carry a stroller) and we had to go to the main building to use the toilet. such small problems that after 2 weeks and with 2 kids there were bothering . but if you go to party without children, I recommend the hotel haha

I'm from the UK and i love the dominican and mexico so much that i have made the 8-9 hour flight from europe over 10 times to stay in punta cana and cancun but all that stopped when covid hit.

@@diannebayley4644 if you actually watched the video vs run your mouth you would see the beautiful beach that we got just by changing resorts 10 minutes down the road. Mexico has beautiful beaches, some resorts are located in better areas and that makes a big difference.
Catalonia Royal Tulum is a great resort. Been there probably 5 times. But as with almost all A.I 's, dining at the restaurants is limited per week, but the buffets are decent.......If you get bored, then go into Tulum and eat, and shop.

To be honest,we've stayed at this Resort in 2019 and it was fantastic,but if you've compared this resort with others then I don't know what to say,probably you right.

Hello. I have been to Dreams hotel Tulum 7 times, and I just love the place, the kind people, always very helpful. The food was excellent, no complains, except from the lobster. But, in Norway, we cook it differently. Wish I could go back.
Just returned today and had a great time. 4.5 out of 5. We had a few things that happened that we had wished didn't but overall great time. We went and swam with dolphins, room was nice and cool all day and night. Rooms are delightful actually. I too wish you could get more al a carte restaurants, but I knew that when we booked. Loved the layout of resorts, lots to do and while it is large I have been to plenty that were bigger and not as well laid out. Sky bar is a must after dinner or a show. The shows were all great. There is a private lagoon that you can walk too for those willing to brave the heat and have the agility to walk through the jungle. We would return. A few downers. Someone pulled fire alarm 4 of 7 nights while there. Buffet food while something was always there that was good some was kinda bland. Sushi night was great. Yum. I would have liked more beer in fridge. Sometimes it was overlooked by house cleaning.
So weird. I've been to Grand Sirenes twice and I can only say good things about the resort. I want to believe that it may have something to do with the situation we currently live in, which despite everything, should not interfere with the quality of service and resort. In my case I hope to return to Grande Sirenes and I hope that situations like this are not the generality, as we really love the resort.
I’m sure lots of people have been here and did not have the experience we did. What was so disappointing with this resort was the crazy hot rooms, how they limited you on food and did not have many options, and how the beach was super rocky and not very pretty. Compared to several resorts we’ve been just in this past year…Grand Sirenis was very run down. I wish we could have had a better experience but it’s frustrating when you pay thousands of dollars and run into the things we did at this resort.
Just got home from there 2 days ago. I had no complaints. We also visit Mexico multiple times a year. Staying in a different location each time. I actually gave the stay 2 thumbs up.
Like I said in the beginning of the video, everyone’s opinion is different! But that’s also why I went into detail showing videos of what exactly we did not like to help others see if that would be an issue or not for them personally. Hopefully this resort has gotten better since our visit!

Yes I thought so too! Apparently after researching this, there are some resorts that do but it’s the first one out of all our trips we have experienced. So this is something I will deff be looking for in the future before I book!
I have seen some resorts that limit the number of times you can go to the a la cartes and you had to make reservations for them However they seem to all be getting away from this now Most don't even require reservations any more
At Barcelo Adults only, the A La Carte requires reservations, so technically you can’t book them more than your one dinner slot. Order everything and stay as long as you want but you can’t take another dinner spot. This is not because they are cheap, the restaurants are AMAZING and they wouldn’t be able to provide the quality of service if everybody could just show up and order as much as they wanted
My wife and I went to the Grand Sirenis on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. Wouldn't hesitate going back at all the next time we're looking to go to Mexico. Difference in opinions I guess.
This is almost word for word our review of this resort! We stayed in the ibirostar on cosumel for a week the went to the grand serenas, we asked to go back after 2 days 😂Just found the whole resort unwelcoming. Big ugly building with absolutely no personality.
Like I said throughout the entire video…everyone’s experience can be different 😉 And I’m comparing this resort to others that are in the same price range. That’s what this channel is about! So people can decide which resort is best for their wants and needs!
As an Australian I would recommend Thai resorts. Way better food and service and it’s not trained in ripping off foreigners anywhere as near as Mexico. But the only catch for Americans is that it’s like a 20 hour total flight hours. That’s why you will rarely find any Europeans or Australian tourists in Mexico.
You do NOT need to apologize for a bad review! Ever! BECAUSE people feel bad about posting a bad review, the rest of us get sucked into a rotten vacation. I had to read 65 reviews of a place before I got to a couple of them that said the pool was green and warm and full of algae, in other words, not swimmable. Then a few others mentioned the maintenance overall was lacking. But there were fifty rave reviews before those so c'mon people, TELL THE TRUTH or don't even bother, because this is our hard earned money and we have to trust that the place is the way it's being promoted to be. And what is this ridiculous pool temperature about? Several of the hotel pools in Mexico are bath water temperature. What IS that about? We are HOT. We want to be refreshed in the pool!!! Idiocy! Thanks Heather. This is the only way they learn that they can't fool everybody all the time.
About to go on a trip (different resort) with our 3 month old. Making the most with our parental leave. First trip with our kid. Hoping that our experience will be a lot better than your experience now that we are COVID restrictions have lessened. Thank you for sharing your experience and review.
If the general manager of the property thinks that it is well maintained and managed, can you imagine making business with him will be like? Do your job with pride!!! Honour what you promise to offer!! People choose your property and pay because we want to rest, enjoy amenities, see nice things around, and... feel WELCOMED! Not ripped-off.

Stayed at this place for 3 nights and my round trip flight for $350 I definitely went into it with low expectations and I was still let down. Worst food I’ve ever had at an all inclusive. I would barely eat anything so I got way too drunk from the mixed drinks and would be blacked out before dinner almost every night. Would never go back
So far I have been to Cancun five times and from my experience I love Krystal Grand Cancun the most, the location is the best and the beach is much more clear. It’s next to the super market like 5 minutes walking distance. I highly recommend. Their pools are not huge but their beach/sand and water is better than many other hotels.
Agree... Not many people mention the Grand Krystal... We stayed there last year and had a great time. The location is the best where the iconic Cancún photos are taken.

This happened to us in fiesta Americana condesa cancun. Same exact experience, but southwest vacations and my credit card fixed the refund problem and switched hotels to Paradisus next door. The Paradisus was the same price and was at another level!!!
We stayed in 2014 and loved the Grand Sirenis. I loved eating lunch at the spa. They had a little food counter and would grill fish or chicken as you ordered. Sorry you had such a bad experience.
I'm a researcher when it comes to booking, I saw this resort. I knew right away not to book! So sorry you and your family ensured this BS, after spending all that money. There's a few others I wouldn't go to... Not only Mexico! I bet this resort was sold to another company, of course they wouldn't tell you? Resorts that offer a "Premium" room or adult's only area which is better but it's more money. All resorts are doing this. It's really un-necessary. But another way to make money. I recommend “Welks Resort” in San Diego California. it it so cool has all the things you need and perfect when your on a summer break. Has pools, water slides, and a bunch of activities like escape rooms, virtual reality,(Even under water!) and all kinds of golf like soccer golf, frisbee golf or just regular golf. Next if you get lucky, on some days they will have live concerts and movies. Great place for adults and kids. Overall great place to visit 😊

I spent a week at this resort and rate it as one of the best I have been to. The buffet was one of the biggest I’ve have seen! And one of the best menus I have seen in the buffet. The seaweed was next to non-existent . My trip was one of the best trips I’ve been on.

Like I said in the beginning of my video, everyone’s opinions are different and I am comparing this resort to the many other resorts we’ve been to in Mexico and it did not meet our expectations like the other resorts have. We travel 4-5 times a year to Mexico to do share these reviews on resorts. So when we visited Grand Sirenis it was a major let down compared to others we had been to especially when we were paying the exact same price.
Iberostar is amazing. That was the first resort I stayed at in Mexico in 2013 so I compare every resort to the adults only side of Iberostar which is the grand. The other tier’s since they have 4 tiers can vary. I agree with everything you said about this resort. We do not recommend. The food wasn’t good for us at the Brazilian Steak house and they limited the options. My daughter decided to get the kids option because she didn’t want all the meat and they gave us an issue with her asking for spaghetti and wouldn’t give her fries or broccoli with it. My older daughters were able to get Italian and they loved it.
Mexico has become way to expensive and the quality is not the same. We had a nicer room with A/C in Krabi, Thailand for $25, meals were < $3. An entire month for 2 cost 1/2 as much as 1 week in Mexico.

Yea! FUUUUUUUUUCK THAT w the heat! I’m already ALWAYS sweltering, I don’t even need a coat so long as I’m not outside for very long & I live in New England where things can get very frigid. Whenever I’ve been to Mexico those AC’s are on full blast even when I’m not in the room bc they sometimes take too long to cool down even a small room. & how are these employees not out there netting up that seaweed or raking the beaches??? Bc that beach is CRAP!
The fact that they have a bar literally in the pool near a children’s area 😮 Imagine that they step into glass ! And beside that if those people spill their drinks it’s not very hygienic.
Wow, 2 restaurant reservations per 5 days... In Europe, it's not uncommon for our resorts to do this, however it's usually 2 reservations per 7 days. Never heard of unlimited restaurant reservations.

I hope they will let me have my destination wedding there. Unfortunately my wedding party is very small. From what I hear on TH-cam for destination weddings most of the big resorts go by how many hotels room are rent out a lot of big resorts want 50 rooms or more rent out. I'm looking at 15 or 20 rooms to be rent out if I'm lucky. Thank you for your well wishes.
@Klasshey Samone my fiance and I would really like to have our destination wedding at Xcaret. I join a Facebook page for destination wedding at Xcaret . A lot of people were complaining when they call the hotel they never get a response. Someone else said the wedding coordinator had quit. Hotel is total chaos. So I don't know what we're going to do.
We had a similar experience at Bahia Principe. It was not as great as we had hoped. All the restaurant reservations were booked, hard to catch a cart to take us anywhere on the resort unless you had money. The buffet was not great either. We have stayed at Iberostar in the past and loved it! Bahia also caters to their timeshare members and it’s not fair especially when you have saved up for a year to take a nice vacation. We will not return!
That seems to be EXACTLY how Grand Sirenis is. All the members love it here …I wonder why lol they get unlimited everything lol but what lots do not realize is you can pay the exact same if not less to go to a resort that is way nicer with more amenities where you do not have to pay extra to be a “member” to get Ana awesome experience! Iberostar or even Barcelo is priced the same and puts this place to shame. But lesson learned, we just won’t go back to this one :)

In fact, we just got back a week ago from the Riu Peninsula, not good either that place. I have a lot of negative things to say about Riu Peninsula, with many similarities to your experience at the Grand Serina. Last year we were at the Fiesta Americana, it was very nice. Sincerely hope you've had much better experiences since that trip.

A family member paid for a stay at a not so nice hotel for our first night being married. It was downtown, in a bad area, and all I wanted was to just be HOME in OUR home we lived in together. Oh and the AC was NOT working and I was recovering from a bad cold, and couldn't breathe unless I sat up sleeping in the uncomfortable bed. My husband was always (still is) the type to allow these things and not speak about or do anything. He didn't want to offend either. How about our first night being married together as a couple or how I felt? I think I was also on my period so super miserable time and bad start to a bad marriage.
I used to be a travel agent (for 12½ years) and I had forgotten about this resort until watching this. I do remember this always being on the list of choices for my clients, mainly because it was always pricing out very well and back then in 2000-2013 it had a 5-Apple rating (Red, out of a possible 6; I sold a huge amount of Apple Vacations back then). Now I'm happy that I never stayed there. So, I've been Cancun/Riviera Maya I believe 7 times. I've stayed at the RIU Cancun, Bahia Principe Tulum, Moon Palace, Secrets Capri, Iberostar Paraiso Maya, Iberostar Tucan and the Ocean Coral & Turquesa by H10. All were amazing and my clients most often went with a resort I had stayed at or in one of those chains (RIU, Bahia Principe, Iberostar, Palace Resorts, AMR Resorts and H10 Resorts. I did sell some other resorts, but not nearly with the same level of confidence and I was upfront about that. But sometimes price is a major factor. I never got to stay at one of the Barceló Resorts, but that was one other chain I sold with success and confidence. I have stayed at two Barceló Hotels in the past: Málaga (Spain) and Managua (Nicaragua). Both were fantastic, although that one in Málaga was a trip!! It was so ultra modern and just plain strange in places which made for a memorable experience. Very avant-garde decor, very eclectic presentation in their restaurant but extremely pleasing; a very odd lobby bar with no bar. There was only seating and nothing else in sight. Not even bar staff. But once you sit down, your server comes out from somewhere through a sliding automatic door. Waitstaff can see the seating area through the 2-way mirror between the two giant upper and lower set of lips on the wall. And then there was the slide from the 2nd floor in the atrium lobby that goes down to the front entrance/front desk. It looks like a slide for baggage, but when I asked, they said it's for people. Bizarre. I did not have a great stay at the Barceló Montelimar Bearch in Nicaragua, but it wasn't awful. I've also stayed at various resorts with Beaches/Sandals but have been pretty loyal to those chains I mentioned above and rarely has there been any negative issues. (Oh, I did have to stay at Hedonism III in Jamaica...that's a whole other story!) I haven't done much traveling in recent years but am needing an all-inclusive trip and I believe Panama will be the destination and I'm focused on staying at the Dreams Playa Bonita. Sorry for rambling, but I haven't reminisced about those trips for a long time.

The last time in Cancun we stayed at the NIZUC Hotel, it was absolutely fabulous but not all-inclusive (a bit pricey) and we are planning to go back to Cancun for an ALL-INCLUSIVE. My mom, sister (her family), my brother (his family) stayed at the Moon Palace and my picky mom, who likes to travel, came back very happy from her stay at the Moon Palace. Thank you again.
We stayed here with our kids and granddaughter, this is by far the worst resort in Mexico. The pools were dirty, bugs and cigarette butts floating around and not being cleaned up. My bed had bed bugs which I didn’t know until I noticed I had bites on my stomach back home. My wife’s bed which she shared with my granddaughter seemed to be fine. The beach is horrible, I don’t blame them for the seaweed but it was rocky and just plain uncomfortable. It felt like the resort was built on the side of a hill, everything is spread out, if you don’t like to walk forever to get somewhere stay away from there. We liked the Brazilian and Mexican restaurants, the rest were so so. We would never go back even if it was free, that’s how much we hated it. Bypass this one, you have been warned.
We booked this hotel initially for our honeymoon and then got an email from our travel agent to say they were having work done and may be noisy. I dug deeper on TripAdvisor reviews and saw reviews about 4 hour long pitches for timeshares, limited a la carte, mouldy rooms and no ac so we managed to swap to Grand Palladium where we had a fantastic time. This video affirms that we made the right decision!

You have a beautiful family… good to know because I will be traveling to MX for the first time soon…. I listened to ppl for the first time I went to Vegas & they were absolutely wrong lol so as a regular traveler I know what to look for but these videos help.
I went there the year before Covid and had a great time. Food wasn't bad & the site was clean. For the price it wasn't bad at all. I went to the TRS Yucatan last year and it was obviously better overall but for the value the Grand Sirenis wasn't bad.

I stayed here for my honeymoon in 2009, when it had been open for about a year and it was faultless. Went back in 2012 and it was obvious it had not been looked after. Broken tiles, glass barriers chipped and generally looking tired. Food was as good and rooms OK but prices had dropped and different type of clientele who took full advantage of the all-inclusive drinks. Won’t be going back.
Really glad you guys had a great time in the end. The Grand Sirenis in Punta Cana was one of the worst hotels we have been to. They tried to sell us a time share for the one in Mexico. We would never go to this chain of hotels again. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Check hard rock riviera Maya last year my wife and I went there and we booked everything on their site and we got 60% discount on everything flights+rooms. I can't say enough good things on that resort from the front desk to foods was one of the best vacations my wife and I had it.

We stayed there many years ago and didn’t have AC troubles but I do remember the food being pretty bad. For lunch we would get roasted chicken and guacamole and tortillas along with chips and salsa every time.

Thank you for being so honest. I appreciate it. In the past I have stayed in bad resorts in Mexico. Grand Xcaret (no beach bad food, old rooms, broken a.c.) so I feel your pain. I would recommend Paradis in playa del carmen the food was great and plentiful air conditioning
I didn’t like the Grand Sirenis either. Very long walk to the restaurants. The beach was…not great. What bothered me most is that there were no outdoor eating places. They had a nice huge buffet overlooking the ocean (quite far away) but no outside patio. Very strange IMO.
We went in 2018 and I thought it was gorgeous. Loved the spa, loved the food, the buffet was lovely. The car ride there is long, and we were aware of the sea weed issue before we got there, it really does stink. The entertainment is nice, setting up the Wi-Fi was a bit of hassle and also doesn’t reach to the pools. I was 16 at the time. We went mid July so it was quite hot, but we didn’t have trouble with the rooms being two hot. A room like that is not designed for 5 people imo. I think covid really did a number on this place if youre experience was this bad. I’m sorry you and your family didn’t enjoy it :(
Appreciate the review! My husband and I will be here by Nov and we had no idea that these are the disadvantages of coming to Grand Sirenis. I have to prepare myself espc the room I'm worried because Mexico is a tropical country and ac not working properly is really bothersome 😥 some stale food, I'd be annoyed and rant too! I hope after a year of this video, they made changes.
We tried to make the best of the place and maybe when we were there it was just a bad time for the resort. Hopefully you will have a great time and everyone’s experience can be different. Also when we were there the sargassum was one of the worst times they have had with it. Please let us know if you have a better experience.
I'd be miserable too sleeping with 4 others in that room. The beds are just too small. And with the heat. I'd leave too. If it were me I'd get two adjoining rooms. The kids seem old enough that they can have their own room. The beach looks gross and the algae looks like an oil spill. Did you get a refund for unused days at the first resort? seems fair, since it was so bad.
I’ve been to Mexico multiple times mazatlan, Cabo, Cozumel, Cancun, playa del, puerto Vallarta, and puerto Penasco.. You truely do have to dig and do your research to find a suitable and satisfying resort that isn’t a run down shanty town.. I recently just got back from the Caribbean st croix to be more specific and was very satisfied with the experience I had and the resort I stayed in.. truely was a terrific time but lucky we didn’t take a direct impact from Fiona.. unlike Nova Scotia, Puerto Rico and Guadalupe
My daughter and her new husband went to Mexico for the honeymoon a few years ago and loved it so my wife and I were going to go after are beloved dog passed away we were tied down when we had her but we didn’t regret getting her when we visited the travel agent she showed us some places in Mexico then she asked had we been to Jamaica yes once and we always side we would like to go back one day she showed us an hotel the Rui negril we have been there three times now we are going back for the first time in September this year since are holiday was cancelled in 2020 because of covid it was are 40th wedding anniversary in march so we thought to celebrate at a place we love one day we may holiday in Mexico you are tempting us with your great videos you post
With 3 grown kids plus you it would be prudent next time to get 2 rooms. 1 for you and your spouse and another for the kids. No room can fit 5 people comfortably especially in a hot climate.
I can’t even share a room with one person ( significant other not included..maybe)!! Five people in one room!!! I mean…..😒😒!!! I have never been to an all inclusive that allows children, I would rather have a hot room and bad food, than be stuck on vacation with kids running around in the hotel to be honest!!lol!

Some people can be so ignorant... There are clearly all adult resorts and resorts for the family. So kids should not be allowed on vacation at a resort🤔🤔.. All resorts should have AC. A standard double room is meant to fit 5 people max, what you’re saying makes no sense. Most families do not get a separate room for kids.

Before you go always check the reviews. I checked it on website and this resort is only 4.1/5, I only book the resort which is above 4.5. Just my own opinion.

Just came back from Cancun . We stayed at the Riu Dunamar . The same size of beds as I saw in your blog. Overall experience was good. The food was amazing. No AC issues water in pools were warn . Soory for your experience especially with your kids. Thanks for sharing your blog and thanks for the heads up on this hotel. Since we’re planning in vacationing in Cabo next year.

I was in Riu Dunamar a year ago, there were a few things that bothered me. but it's a matter of what is expected. it is a party hotel at the end of the world. we were with 2 small children. parties in the hotel were loud and lasted until late hours. we had a stroller, they didn't have a wooden path on the sand to the beach. the kids aqua park only had stairs (I had to carry a stroller) and we had to go to the main building to use the toilet. such small problems that after 2 weeks and with 2 kids there were bothering . but if you go to party without children, I recommend the hotel haha

I'm from the UK and i love the dominican and mexico so much that i have made the 8-9 hour flight from europe over 10 times to stay in punta cana and cancun but all that stopped when covid hit.

@@diannebayley4644 if you actually watched the video vs run your mouth you would see the beautiful beach that we got just by changing resorts 10 minutes down the road. Mexico has beautiful beaches, some resorts are located in better areas and that makes a big difference.
Catalonia Royal Tulum is a great resort. Been there probably 5 times. But as with almost all A.I 's, dining at the restaurants is limited per week, but the buffets are decent.......If you get bored, then go into Tulum and eat, and shop.

Hello. I have been to Dreams hotel Tulum 7 times, and I just love the place, the kind people, always very helpful. The food was excellent, no complains, except from the lobster. But, in Norway, we cook it differently. Wish I could go back.

Just returned today and had a great time. 4.5 out of 5. We had a few things that happened that we had wished didn't but overall great time.
We went and swam with dolphins, room was nice and cool all day and night. Rooms are delightful actually.
I too wish you could get more al a carte restaurants, but I knew that when we booked.
Loved the layout of resorts, lots to do and while it is large I have been to plenty that were bigger and not as well laid out. Sky bar is a must after dinner or a show. The shows were all great.
There is a private lagoon that you can walk too for those willing to brave the heat and have the agility to walk through the jungle.
We would return.
A few downers. Someone pulled fire alarm 4 of 7 nights while there. Buffet food while something was always there that was good some was kinda bland. Sushi night was great. Yum. I would have liked more beer in fridge. Sometimes it was overlooked by house cleaning.
Just an fyi, the he mini bar people come at a different time than housekeeping and ask what you would like in your fridge
So weird. I've been to Grand Sirenes twice and I can only say good things about the resort. I want to believe that it may have something to do with the situation we currently live in, which despite everything, should not interfere with the quality of service and resort. In my case I hope to return to Grande Sirenes and I hope that situations like this are not the generality, as we really love the resort.
I’m sure lots of people have been here and did not have the experience we did. What was so disappointing with this resort was the crazy hot rooms, how they limited you on food and did not have many options, and how the beach was super rocky and not very pretty. Compared to several resorts we’ve been just in this past year…Grand Sirenis was very run down. I wish we could have had a better experience but it’s frustrating when you pay thousands of dollars and run into the things we did at this resort.

Just got home from there 2 days ago. I had no complaints. We also visit Mexico multiple times a year. Staying in a different location each time. I actually gave the stay 2 thumbs up.
Like I said in the beginning of the video, everyone’s opinion is different! But that’s also why I went into detail showing videos of what exactly we did not like to help others see if that would be an issue or not for them personally. Hopefully this resort has gotten better since our visit!
I went to Cancun Mexico for summer and the beach was FULL of seaweed! The location is: Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa, Juárez, Ciudad de México, Quintana Roo, Mexico

Yes I thought so too! Apparently after researching this, there are some resorts that do but it’s the first one out of all our trips we have experienced. So this is something I will deff be looking for in the future before I book!
I have seen some resorts that limit the number of times you can go to the a la cartes and you had to make reservations for them However they seem to all be getting away from this now Most don't even require reservations any more
At Barcelo Adults only, the A La Carte requires reservations, so technically you can’t book them more than your one dinner slot. Order everything and stay as long as you want but you can’t take another dinner spot. This is not because they are cheap, the restaurants are AMAZING and they wouldn’t be able to provide the quality of service if everybody could just show up and order as much as they wanted
I've been there 3 times from the UK and loved it. I loved it so much I joined their club after the first time and love it even more.
Lol same experience we had at oceans in Mexico. Horrible, changed rooms 3 times and walked back to lobby at front of resort 8 min each way. Joke

My wife and I went to the Grand Sirenis on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. Wouldn't hesitate going back at all the next time we're looking to go to Mexico. Difference in opinions I guess.

This is almost word for word our review of this resort! We stayed in the ibirostar on cosumel for a week the went to the grand serenas, we asked to go back after 2 days 😂Just found the whole resort unwelcoming. Big ugly building with absolutely no personality.

Like I said throughout the entire video…everyone’s experience can be different 😉 And I’m comparing this resort to others that are in the same price range. That’s what this channel is about! So people can decide which resort is best for their wants and needs!
As an Australian I would recommend Thai resorts. Way better food and service and it’s not trained in ripping off foreigners anywhere as near as Mexico. But the only catch for Americans is that it’s like a 20 hour total flight hours. That’s why you will rarely find any Europeans or Australian tourists in Mexico.
You do NOT need to apologize for a bad review! Ever! BECAUSE people feel bad about posting a bad review, the rest of us get sucked into a rotten vacation. I had to read 65 reviews of a place before I got to a couple of them that said the pool was green and warm and full of algae, in other words, not swimmable. Then a few others mentioned the maintenance overall was lacking. But there were fifty rave reviews before those so c'mon people, TELL THE TRUTH or don't even bother, because this is our hard earned money and we have to trust that the place is the way it's being promoted to be. And what is this ridiculous pool temperature about? Several of the hotel pools in Mexico are bath water temperature. What IS that about? We are HOT. We want to be refreshed in the pool!!! Idiocy!

If the general manager of the property thinks that it is well maintained and managed, can you imagine making business with him will be like? Do your job with pride!!! Honour what you promise to offer!! People choose your property and pay because we want to rest, enjoy amenities, see nice things around, and... feel WELCOMED! Not ripped-off.

Stayed at this place for 3 nights and my round trip flight for $350
I definitely went into it with low expectations and I was still let down. Worst food I’ve ever had at an all inclusive. I would barely eat anything so I got way too drunk from the mixed drinks and would be blacked out before dinner almost every night. Would never go back
So far I have been to Cancun five times and from my experience I love Krystal Grand Cancun the most, the location is the best and the beach is much more clear. It’s next to the super market like 5 minutes walking distance. I highly recommend. Their pools are not huge but their beach/sand and water is better than many other hotels.
Agree... Not many people mention the Grand Krystal... We stayed there last year and had a great time. The location is the best where the iconic Cancún photos are taken.

This happened to us in fiesta Americana condesa cancun. Same exact experience, but southwest vacations and my credit card fixed the refund problem and switched hotels to Paradisus next door. The Paradisus was the same price and was at another level!!!
We stayed a week at Barcelo Occidental Xcaret in the Royal Level and it was amazing.

We stayed in 2014 and loved the Grand Sirenis. I loved eating lunch at the spa. They had a little food counter and would grill fish or chicken as you ordered. Sorry you had such a bad experience.
I'm a researcher when it comes to booking, I saw this resort. I knew right away not to book! So sorry you and your family ensured this BS, after spending all that money.
There's a few others I wouldn't go to... Not only Mexico! I bet this resort was sold to another company, of course they wouldn't tell you? Resorts that offer a "Premium" room or adult's only area which is better but it's more money. All resorts are doing this. It's really un-necessary. But another way to make money.

I recommend “Welks Resort” in San Diego California. it it so cool has all the things you need and perfect when your on a summer break. Has pools, water slides, and a bunch of activities like escape rooms, virtual reality,(Even under water!) and all kinds of golf like soccer golf, frisbee golf or just regular golf. Next if you get lucky, on some days they will have live concerts and movies. Great place for adults and kids. Overall great place to visit 😊
Used to be a pretty great budget resort and I went there a couple times as a kid. Food was acceptable and it had a fun atmosphere and it was clean.
The “restaurants” look like off beat casino buffets with the fluorescent lighting and zero ambiance.
The sargassum (seaweed) wasn’t even there in the 70’s.. it’s fascinating reading learning about why it’s there now, and getting worse!!

The buffet was one of the biggest I’ve have seen! And one of the best menus I have seen in the buffet. The seaweed was next to non-existent .

Like I said in the beginning of my video, everyone’s opinions are different and I am comparing this resort to the many other resorts we’ve been to in Mexico and it did not meet our expectations like the other resorts have. We travel 4-5 times a year to Mexico to do share these reviews on resorts. So when we visited Grand Sirenis it was a major let down compared to others we had been to especially when we were paying the exact same price.
Iberostar is amazing. That was the first resort I stayed at in Mexico in 2013 so I compare every resort to the adults only side of Iberostar which is the grand. The other tier’s since they have 4 tiers can vary. I agree with everything you said about this resort. We do not recommend. The food wasn’t good for us at the Brazilian Steak house and they limited the options. My daughter decided to get the kids option because she didn’t want all the meat and they gave us an issue with her asking for spaghetti and wouldn’t give her fries or broccoli with it. My older daughters were able to get Italian and they loved it.
Mexico has become way to expensive and the quality is not the same. We had a nicer room with A/C in Krabi, Thailand for $25, meals were < $3. An entire month for 2 cost 1/2 as much as 1 week in Mexico.

Yea! FUUUUUUUUUCK THAT w the heat! I’m already ALWAYS sweltering, I don’t even need a coat so long as I’m not outside for very long & I live in New England where things can get very frigid. Whenever I’ve been to Mexico those AC’s are on full blast even when I’m not in the room bc they sometimes take too long to cool down even a small room. & how are these employees not out there netting up that seaweed or raking the beaches??? Bc that beach is CRAP!

Wow, 2 restaurant reservations per 5 days... In Europe, it's not uncommon for our resorts to do this, however it's usually 2 reservations per 7 days. Never heard of unlimited restaurant reservations.

I hope they will let me have my destination wedding there. Unfortunately my wedding party is very small. From what I hear on TH-cam for destination weddings most of the big resorts go by how many hotels room are rent out a lot of big resorts want 50 rooms or more rent out. I'm looking at 15 or 20 rooms to be rent out if I'm lucky. Thank you for your well wishes.
@Klasshey Samone my fiance and I would really like to have our destination wedding at Xcaret. I join a Facebook page for destination wedding at Xcaret . A lot of people were complaining when they call the hotel they never get a response. Someone else said the wedding coordinator had quit. Hotel is total chaos. So I don't know what we're going to do.
We had a similar experience at Bahia Principe. It was not as great as we had hoped. All the restaurant reservations were booked, hard to catch a cart to take us anywhere on the resort unless you had money. The buffet was not great either. We have stayed at Iberostar in the past and loved it!
Bahia also caters to their timeshare members and it’s not fair especially when you have saved up for a year to take a nice vacation. We will not return!
That seems to be EXACTLY how Grand Sirenis is. All the members love it here …I wonder why lol they get unlimited everything lol but what lots do not realize is you can pay the exact same if not less to go to a resort that is way nicer with more amenities where you do not have to pay extra to be a “member” to get Ana awesome experience! Iberostar or even Barcelo is priced the same and puts this place to shame. But lesson learned, we just won’t go back to this one :)

I appreciate your taking the time to do this report so that the rest of us won't make a mistake and book that hotel, thank you so much! In fact, we just got back a week ago from the Riu Peninsula, not good either that place. I have a lot of negative things to say about Riu Peninsula, with many similarities to your experience at the Grand Serina. Last year we were at the Fiesta Americana, it was very nice.

A family member paid for a stay at a not so nice hotel for our first night being married. It was downtown, in a bad area, and all I wanted was to just be HOME in OUR home we lived in together. Oh and the AC was NOT working and I was recovering from a bad cold, and couldn't breathe unless I sat up sleeping in the uncomfortable bed. My husband was always (still is) the type to allow these things and not speak about or do anything. He didn't want to offend either. How about our first night being married together as a couple or how I felt? I think I was also on my period so super miserable time and bad start to a bad marriage.
Agree! The bad AC, rocky sand and seaweed ocean are all turnoffs. We work very hard for our money and will not squander it!!

I used to be a travel agent (for 12½ years) and I had forgotten about this resort until watching this. I do remember this always being on the list of choices for my clients, mainly because it was always pricing out very well and back then in 2000-2013 it had a 5-Apple rating (Red, out of a possible 6; I sold a huge amount of Apple Vacations back then). Now I'm happy that I never stayed there. So, I've been Cancun/Riviera Maya I believe 7 times. I've stayed at the RIU Cancun, Bahia Principe Tulum, Moon Palace, Secrets Capri, Iberostar Paraiso Maya, Iberostar Tucan and the Ocean Coral & Turquesa by H10. All were amazing and my clients most often went with a resort I had stayed at or in one of those chains (RIU, Bahia Principe, Iberostar, Palace Resorts, AMR Resorts and H10 Resorts. I did sell some other resorts, but not nearly with the same level of confidence and I was upfront about that. But sometimes price is a major factor. I never got to stay at one of the Barceló Resorts, but that was one other chain I sold with success and confidence. I have stayed at two Barceló Hotels in the past: Málaga (Spain) and Managua (Nicaragua). Both were fantastic, although that one in Málaga was a trip!! It was so ultra modern and just plain strange in places which made for a memorable experience. Very avant-garde decor, very eclectic presentation in their restaurant but extremely pleasing; a very odd lobby bar with no bar. There was only seating and nothing else in sight. Not even bar staff. But once you sit down, your server comes out from somewhere through a sliding automatic door. Waitstaff can see the seating area through the 2-way mirror between the two giant upper and lower set of lips on the wall. And then there was the slide from the 2nd floor in the atrium lobby that goes down to the front entrance/front desk. It looks like a slide for baggage, but when I asked, they said it's for people. Bizarre. I did not have a great stay at the Barceló Montelimar Bearch in Nicaragua, but it wasn't awful. I've also stayed at various resorts with Beaches/Sandals but have been pretty loyal to those chains I mentioned above and rarely has there been any negative issues. (Oh, I did have to stay at Hedonism III in Jamaica...that's a whole other story!) I haven't done much traveling in recent years but am needing an all-inclusive trip and I believe Panama will be the destination and I'm focused on staying at the Dreams Playa Bonita. Sorry for rambling, but I haven't reminisced about those trips for a long time.

Most large resorts in hot areas have pool chillers. It looks like they either skimped out on this or they weren't functioning.

The last time in Cancun we stayed at the NIZUC Hotel, it was absolutely fabulous but not all-inclusive (a bit pricey) and we are planning to go back to Cancun for an ALL-INCLUSIVE. My mom, sister (her family), my brother (his family) stayed at the Moon Palace and my picky mom, who likes to travel, came back very happy from her stay at the Moon Palace. Thank you again.
We stayed here with our kids and granddaughter, this is by far the worst resort in Mexico.
The pools were dirty, bugs and cigarette butts floating around and not being cleaned up. My bed had bed bugs which I didn’t know until I noticed I had bites on my stomach back home. My wife’s bed which she shared with my granddaughter seemed to be fine.
The beach is horrible, I don’t blame them for the seaweed but it was rocky and just plain uncomfortable.
It felt like the resort was built on the side of a hill, everything is spread out, if you don’t like to walk forever to get somewhere stay away from there.
We liked the Brazilian and Mexican restaurants, the rest were so so.
We would never go back even if it was free, that’s how much we hated it. Bypass this one, you have been warned.
Live Aqua is the best but its ALL INCLUDED adults only ... amazing food and service.
We booked this hotel initially for our honeymoon and then got an email from our travel agent to say they were having work done and may be noisy. I dug deeper on TripAdvisor reviews and saw reviews about 4 hour long pitches for timeshares, limited a la carte, mouldy rooms and no ac so we managed to swap to Grand Palladium where we had a fantastic time. This video affirms that we made the right decision!

You have a beautiful family… good to know because I will be traveling to MX for the first time soon…. I listened to ppl for the first time I went to Vegas & they were absolutely wrong lol so as a regular traveler I know what to look for but these videos help.
I went there the year before Covid and had a great time. Food wasn't bad & the site was clean. For the price it wasn't bad at all. I went to the TRS Yucatan last year and it was obviously better overall but for the value the Grand Sirenis wasn't bad.

I stayed here for my honeymoon in 2009, when it had been open for about a year and it was faultless. Went back in 2012 and it was obvious it had not been looked after. Broken tiles, glass barriers chipped and generally looking tired. Food was as good and rooms OK but prices had dropped and different type of clientele who took full advantage of the all-inclusive drinks. Won’t be going back.
Really glad you guys had a great time in the end. The Grand Sirenis in Punta Cana was one of the worst hotels we have been to. They tried to sell us a time share for the one in Mexico. We would never go to this chain of hotels again. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Check hard rock riviera Maya last year my wife and I went there and we booked everything on their site and we got 60% discount on everything flights+rooms. I can't say enough good things on that resort from the front desk to foods was one of the best vacations my wife and I had it.
I agree with you, My first stay in Riviera Maya was the Barcelona Tropical in August of 2019, we loved it
The Sirenis in the Dominican really sucked too. Horrible food, bad service, lousy buffet. Too many shitty things to mention.

Thanks for this video. I went to the Grand Sirenis back in 2014 and it was amazing. I was planning on heading back there later this year but after watching this video I think I will book at the Barcelo instead 👌
We stayed there many years ago and didn’t have AC troubles but I do remember the food being pretty bad. For lunch we would get roasted chicken and guacamole and tortillas along with chips and salsa every time.

Thank you for being so honest. I appreciate it. In the past I have stayed in bad resorts in Mexico. Grand Xcaret (no beach bad food, old rooms, broken a.c.) so I feel your pain. I would recommend Paradis in playa del carmen the food was great and plentiful air conditioning
I didn’t like the Grand Sirenis either. Very long walk to the restaurants. The beach was…not great. What bothered me most is that there were no outdoor eating places. They had a nice huge buffet overlooking the ocean (quite far away) but no outside patio. Very strange IMO.

We went in 2018 and I thought it was gorgeous. Loved the spa, loved the food, the buffet was lovely. The car ride there is long, and we were aware of the sea weed issue before we got there, it really does stink. The entertainment is nice, setting up the Wi-Fi was a bit of hassle and also doesn’t reach to the pools. I was 16 at the time. We went mid July so it was quite hot, but we didn’t have trouble with the rooms being two hot. A room like that is not designed for 5 people imo. I think covid really did a number on this place if youre experience was this bad. I’m sorry you and your family didn’t enjoy it :(
Appreciate the review! My husband and I will be here by Nov and we had no idea that these are the disadvantages of coming to Grand Sirenis. I have to prepare myself espc the room I'm worried because Mexico is a tropical country and ac not working properly is really bothersome 😥 some stale food, I'd be annoyed and rant too! I hope after a year of this video, they made changes.
We tried to make the best of the place and maybe when we were there it was just a bad time for the resort. Hopefully you will have a great time and everyone’s experience can be different. Also when we were there the sargassum was one of the worst times they have had with it. Please let us know if you have a better experience.

I'd be miserable too sleeping with 4 others in that room. The beds are just too small. And with the heat. I'd leave too. If it were me I'd get two adjoining rooms. The kids seem old enough that they can have their own room.
The beach looks gross and the algae looks like an oil spill. Did you get a refund for unused days at the first resort? seems fair, since it was so bad.
I’ve been to Mexico multiple times mazatlan, Cabo, Cozumel, Cancun, playa del, puerto Vallarta, and puerto Penasco.. You truely do have to dig and do your research to find a suitable and satisfying resort that isn’t a run down shanty town.. I recently just got back from the Caribbean st croix to be more specific and was very satisfied with the experience I had and the resort I stayed in.. truely was a terrific time but lucky we didn’t take a direct impact from Fiona.. unlike Nova Scotia, Puerto Rico and Guadalupe
My daughter and her new husband went to Mexico for the honeymoon a few years ago and loved it so my wife and I were going to go after are beloved dog passed away we were tied down when we had her but we didn’t regret getting her when we visited the travel agent she showed us some places in Mexico then she asked had we been to Jamaica yes once and we always side we would like to go back one day she showed us an hotel the Rui negril we have been there three times now we are going back for the first time in September this year since are holiday was cancelled in 2020 because of covid it was are 40th wedding anniversary in march so we thought to celebrate at a place we love one day we may holiday in Mexico you are tempting us with your great videos you post

They don't heat the pools they are hot naturally from the sun and general surrounding temperature
