I met my ex "Jack" (38M) when we were both living in France in our twenties. I'm half Canadian and French, and Jack is American. He was working on his PhD, and I was living with family and interning as a photographer for a local newspaper when we met. I met him by chance at his university and was just blown away by how charming and smart he was. We met through a mutual friend, and after months of hanging out together in groups, I gathered the courage to ask him out, and he said yes. One date led to another, and we got into a relationship. Thinking about those days is so strange now because it feels like another life because of how different everything is now and how my husband changed from the brilliant, funny guy I fell in love with to the seemingly heartless and totally selfish guy he turned out to be.

Did he know though? Every time the wife complained he made EXCUSES for them. Maybe he was in denial? I would love a follow up where one of them finally feels shame for ruining his marriage with her lies and admits that she lied about the insults and it was in fact they who were insulting her. I want to see how he would react to finding out that his mother's and sister's lies cost him his marriage AND the ability to raise his child.

That’s the problem is that when women decide to play God like this and do not allow men to be on birth no they’re not going to get custody of their child and even if Jack could not get Kirsty he should’ve been able to have rights. A child. Jesus deserves to have a father in the life, and it is not about the mother, and I really do believe that you can have super various contacts first, and then if Jack proves to be a good father, then he can carry on having access to his daughter.

Sorry to say but if this story is in the US like they claim the husband is considered the father and will almost certainly receive partial custody or visitation if he wants it. US courts want the child to have a relationship with both parents regardless of the problems between the parents. It is almost impossible to get a judge to agree to no contact with a parent. That is why I say this story is bs and comes from Asia, where custody almost ALWAYS goes to the mother and she has total control over things like when and if the father can see the child.

@@lindasavelle1731 Don't forget, it also depends on which state this happened in. And no, this can happen. It happened to a person I know. He took a two week vacation with his asshole friends when she was due in maybe three weeks. She begged him not to go, but he ignored her. Long story short, her water rose early (from stress), she had to get an emergency c-section, they both nearly died and his ass couldn't be reached. He got back to divorce papers, a half empty house and a complete loss of parental rights, as she put 'father unknown' on the certificate (his mom was just so pissed at him and took her side. It was his moms idea to write that) he lost it all, because he couldn't be bothered to answer his phone. He did get rights. Eventually, but got zero help from family and the friends he'd been with didn't help him at all.

These stories never make any sense to me. How is saying that you are having difficulty living in a different COUNTRY OR GEOGRAPHIC REGION equatable to a direct or even indirect insult against your family just because they are natives of that country? Moving long distances to an unfamiliar place is difficult and scary and takes some adjustment.
For example, I live in the wine country of North California and if someone were to move here to stay with me from Arizona and I were to overhear them saying that adjusting to so much RAIN and COLD (our winters get pretty chilly, the grapes are grown in the summer mostly) is difficult for them or if they were to mention something about Arizona that they miss there is no way in HELL I would consider that an attack against ME PERSONALLY.
I really do not understand how anyone can equate difficulty adjusting to a new GEOGRAPHIC ENVIRONMENT with a DIRECT ATTACK ON THEM PERSONALLY. Can someone please help me understand this? Due to my autistic spectrum condition social situations are confusing to me?

That other family should not even be allowed SUPERVISED VISITATION RIGHTS much less FULL OR EVEN PARTIAL CUSTODY. I have a belief that a mother and child are a "package deal" and it is not possible to love one of them if you are abusing the other. The family abused her, verbal abuse, passive aggression and slander for starters and the ONLY reason she did not suffer EVEN MORE ABUSE AND A LOT OF IT was how quickly she moved away and got divorced.
As soon as people are abusing the mother of a child that is proof that they do NOT love the child. Goes both ways. It is impossible to love a woman AND abuse her child.
I guess I could make a one in a million exception to that rule if the person being abused was a terrible person who really deserved the abuse. I guess in the fictional world of STAR WARS a person could abuse Darth Vader (Maybe only Yoda and Palpatine could get away with that) and still love Luke Skywalker.

@@brandinicole1372 Even if the child's not a US citizen, his father is. The father was LEGALLY married to the mother when the child was concieved. In other words, the child comes out of that marraige. Under both US and Canadian law he is the child's parent
IF she brings the child back to the US crap father could ask for custody, whatever the citizenship. If father goes to Canada he would probably get visitation at the very least. In the US, in Canada, in the EU the primary concern of the courts is not parents rights, but the right of the child to the support of both parents. In both the US AND Canada she would have to prove extraordinary circumstances to keep the ex totally away from the child. Canadian courts are so concerned with a child having a relationship with both parents that the custodial parent is not allowed to move long distances from the non custodial parent. SO in this story, if ex husband should go to Canada and establish some sort of residency, he is very likely to get some sort of custody.
And Ex himself never abused OP. It is only in Asia where the mother can dictate whether or not her child sees his father. It's only in Asia where a child born AFTER divorce "belongs " to the mother only, only in Asia where the custodial parent has complete control over a child .

Another Swiss cheese story. Jack and family suck. That said, How did she not see what Mil and Sil were doing ? Why did she allow AH momma’s boy boyfriend to gaslight her when there were obvious signs ? Why didn’t she look for a job immediately so she wouldn’t have to stay there for three months? Since she mentioned not getting married till finances were better why was she not on birth control or him for that matter since he didn’t want children yet? For the record she left, he did not kick her out. She packed her bags and went to Canada. During the divorce process and settlement why her lawyer not ask for financial support yet complained about not having any? Why did she not let the lawyers did the AH and his family rather go back to their home to confront him and tearing up the letter ( bs drama ) stating it was satisfying and empowering. And how on earth could she possibly take away his parental rights? That’s almost impossible based on this story . Even full custody would be difficult and that’s not the same thing at all. Too many holes in this story. And don’t say I’m knit picking because if I was I would ask where did she get the money to get to Canada, who paid the rent, expenses and the wedding? How did he know where to mail the letter and who paid for her two lawyers? Swiss cheese

Yeah it's surprising - or maybe it's a good sign? - that so many people are ignorant of child custody laws in the US. I've had friends who've tried, with good reason , to get no contact custody and husbands got visitation. Maybe if you can prove child sexual abuse but I know of one case where the husband still got Supervised visitation. Mother lives in constant fear. Makes me wonder if this story is BS and if the writer is from Asia. In Asia custody almost always goes to the mother and she has total control over the child.

In some courts, he never acted as a father. My brother had his rights terminated to his first child for this reason. Not only did he abandon his young wife to run the streets, but the courts saw that he never acted as a father. Demanding to see a child he never planned to provide for cut that off. He didn't help with medical expenses, he didn't buy a diaper. She showed messages that she asked for him to help with the delivery and he insisted on a paternity test. In the states, he was ruled the defacto father by marriage and his refusal to act as such when he was already a father cut that off. And he was given the chance. He still pays child support but he has no legal rights. This was 14 years ago. He now has more kids and a baby mama drama and I know he regrets abandoning his wife by extension the child he was legally obligated to care for.

I will never support the mother taking away a father's parental rights simply because their marriage didn't work out so what if he was stupid enough to believe what his mom and sister said he is still that child's father you may not like him but being manipulated by his evil mother does not mean he is not capable of loving his child it is not okay to take a child away from a parent simply because you don't like them being abused by his own mom because of the way she manipulates him with lies. At the end of the day the court should decide whether or not he deserves to be in his daughter's life and we all know that the courts are biased towards women and against men that the family court system is extremely misandristic. Social likely get what she wants and another father Willie's access to his child once again and she will probably toxify that child against her father so that she will never want anything to do with him because that's usually how it works.

Absolutely no in this story this is really really wrong. She chose not to put the father on the birth certificate so legally he has no right with regards to his child he can prove just because she gave birth to this child automatically. She gets everything this is wrong. I agree that maybe the in-laws should not be but that is so wrong not to give Jack a chance to be a father automatically. The mother gets to be mother because she just carries a child for nine months and gives birth that is completely wrong whatsoever 100% only because she did not put the child on the father of the birth certificate is the reason why he does not be able to be able to see his child. This is wrong
I think it’s really really wrong to deny a child from his father, and to deny father from his child, it’s completely wrong and in this instant is in the wrong wrong, 100%
I would say that you could have supervised access to begin with and if he can prove to be a father yet he can have every other weekend and go back to court. I think it’s so wrong because there was an argument with a fight okay and they both kicked off. That’s completely agree that the in-laws are ridiculous and wrong completely
But I really dislike it when women do this, when they choose to play and do not put the father on the birth of God, even though he’s a legal father he has the right to be the father of that child
