    Thanks, everyone for the continued support. I feel the need to say that while most of the items I shared here are premium goods, you don't need them to do great work. In fact, I spent many years doing my work fine with simple, cost-efficient, commodity goods. I just happen to grow to a place where I can apprecaite high-quality tools. *Remember: It's not what you have, but how you use it, that determines your output.* _The tools don't make the art, the artist does._

    • @MatthewEncina
      @MatthewEncina  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am using the small. It's fine with a compact keyboard (75% and under) and can be compensated with higher mouse sensitivity so you don't have to track so far. In the past with slower tracking I've had to pick up my mouse and reposition, but after the adjustment that doesn't really occur anymore. Hope that helps.

    I agree so much on the pen advice! I’ve gone with the Caran D’Ache personally, made from recycled coffee capsules. I also have a Cross that’s a gift from my fiancée. I keep a couple of cheap BICs lying around just in case but a good pen works wonders. Get one you can buy refills for, as well, much more environmentally friendly. That Grovemade looks great, and I love their desk mats so I’m sure the pen is good quality too.

    I have three notebooks as well, but their use for me is a bit flipped from yours. Writing goes in the middle-sized notebook, as well as things I'd like to save and keep; the Field Notes are for jotting down stuff (as a replacement for sticky notes) and preliminary sketching; and the big notebook is for taking notes of any kind, sketching, organizing ideas. I've been looking into the Grovemade notebooks (huge Baron Fig user here) because they're refillable, I guess that's a good feature for something you use to ideate!

    • @MatthewEncina
      @MatthewEncina  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing. I've come to really like these refillable leather books. There's a certain feel to them that makes me think of an heirloom. I haven't gotten to it yet, but perhaps old pages will be stored in boxes, everytime I refill.

    • @johnespino886
      @johnespino886 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MatthewEncina that's what I'm on the fence about really-but I tend to not keep the bigger notebooks around though, as I often get them scanned/photographed for later reference.
      So ideally, something that could open flat both ways, and with dotted marks for writing/sketching.
      The Grovemade one is intriguing though, that disc mechanism to bind the pages is certainly very intriguing and unique.

    Being a budding designer myself I have learnt so much from you and the entire team of The Futur, and not just the technical aspects of being a designer but also how to be a good one. So thankyou for being an inspiration and a teacher. Always looking up to you!.

    Would love to see a workflow video. I am currently struggling to get anything done because of all the notes and noise I have all around my apps and notebooks. I have bookmarks in Chrome, notes in Notion, in my notepad, saved inspo in dribble, phone, on my laptop foders...you get the point 😅

    I love these notebooks but being left handed makes it very difficult for me to write due to the rings in the middle. Have any suggestions for a lefty trying to find the perfect notebook and sketch book?

      Wirte in it from the reverse direction, Japanese style with rings on the right?

    I saw again your 3D printed holder for your usb hub. Did print it yourself or bought it from someone who prints? Been thinking of 3d printing items myself such as skadis accessories or some other desk organization items like cases, holders, etc. that would serve specific purposes. This way i’m not limited with what IKEA is offering… especially now they are out of stock most of the time… here in my country ah.
    Have you considered it? Would like to know your thoughts about it.
    Anyway, another great video!👍🏻

      Very smart. I jus tbought the pieces already made. Though you're giving me good ideas for my Skadis now. Thanks!
