On the topic oh “You make travel with kids look easy”… honestly if you or Tyler were the kind of people who saw your kids having a meltdown and picked up the camera for content- that would be really uncomfortable. Instead you’re engaged and parenting in those moments and I think that’s important to acknowledge as audience members. Every now and then in the course of recording life, a meltdown may happen while filming but yeah. You get what I’m saying.
their family/travel vlogs are the only ones i feel good about watching after finding the dad challenge podcast 🙌 so nice to see someone else acknowledge that jessica and tyler do it the right way!
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT!! I don’t want to see kids having meltdowns or intimate family time. that’s none of my business lol I’ve been watching Jessica and Tyler since they were just dating and the reason I’ve stayed around is because they aren’t exploitative of their personal lives. The internet needs boundaries and I respect the heck out of them for honoring that consistently.
Watching your videos is like a hug from a friend. Just comforting, easy, kind…it is a rest for your viewers. I hope you know that! Thank you for being that escape we all need.
Omg! I'm so glad I'm not alone with my thoughts on alcohol. I feel the same way, that I just don't want my plans to revolve around alcohol. I didn't drink a crazy amount, but it just isn't necessary to drink alcohol to have fun, so it's a once in awhile thing for me now.
I applaud you taking your girls places! I think it’s so very important. You’re teaching them how to act, how to treat people that serve you…etc. i know it’s not always easy, as you have said. But, so beneficial for them and your relationship with them. They also learn you love to spend the time with them….they are worth it! Thank you for sharing your family with us! ❤️❤️❤️
My daughter didn’t crawl until 10.5 months, walked at 15 months-both are well within the “normal” range, but apparently the people in my life all had kids who hit them earlier and therefore assumed it wasn’t normal, and it was really detrimental for me. It basically set me up to question my daughter (and myself!) constantly! My best friend’s daughter who was a similar age started crawling at 6 months and walking at 9 months. Seeing her kiddo walking while mine wasn’t yet crawling was super hard. But, now that I’m having my second kiddo, I feel so much more relaxed and just…unbothered. Thanks for touching on this. It seems like there’s so much excitement and praise for when babies hit milestones “early,” but that really doesn’t make it “better.” It’s not a race and it sucks our culture has framed it that way.
I had 4 babies all different ages and stages and all the things and someone once told me, you never met a "regular developed person" a 30 year old who couldn't walk or talk lol so at some point they definitely learn lol and when someone is 15, 40, 60 it's never important when you learned to walk or talk lol so true!! ❤️
Garden Answer is a wonderful TH-cam channel. She is so positive and down to earth. I find her videos so relaxing and love to start my day with one and a cup of tea. Also, her antique shopping trips with her mom are the best!
Regarding the referral links, I like to think of it like how when any of us refer someone to a website or to sign up for some kind of email or service, we get a little incentive to do that; a coupon code or something. It's not really meant to be a revenue stream but when a creator has enough people using the links, it can add up. It also reminds me of Rakuten and similar links that just give you a little perk back for moving traffic thru their site.
Thanks for sharing about alcohol. I’m 21 months sober & it has been a good but difficult adjustment. I really had to change people places and things. And you’re right- you start to realize “oh I only hang out with them to drink together. Or I only go to brunch to drink mimosas. Or I only go to eat Mexican for a margarita” You start to realize it’s consuming your mind more that we think. It was a hard pill to swallow but I realized I was becoming dependent on relaxing with a drink or two or 8 at the end of the night because “I deserved it”. But I have been so sane not drinking. I deserve happiness** not alcohol lol
Congratulations on being sober! I'm sure it's really difficult but you've got this ❤ My bf just started his sobriety journey after his liver started failing, so I'm supporting by not drinking as well. You never really notice how much alcohol is present (places, ads, stores, etc.) until you stop drinking. A little frustrating tbh. Good luck! ❤
I just discovered your channel and I have to say you have become one of my favorites on this platform. Your personality is just so positive and your laugh is always so contagious. Your videos are always to the point and very informative. Thank you for your dedication. Have a lovely day ❤ love from NJ
New Yorker here! As someone who also loves theatre and musicals, I totally get the advantage of being close and its actually cool to be in the center of it all as you said!❤ I hope you and Tyler enjoy your trip, if you need any food recs let me know hahah. Y'all are my comfort TH-camrs, thank you for all the content❤
Totally agree with you about baby milestones and it's great to hear a young mother talk about it. My own children (all adults now) -- two walked at 14 months and one at 16 months and then it was only because I got them a mini shopping cart to push as they walked. They had no interest in walking by themselves, but when they did, they were steady walkers and didn't fall which I was grateful for. My friends children tended to fall and get bumps and bruises when they started walking, but mine didn't.
2 of my 3 kids are adults and we travelled (still travel) to Asia at least once a year since they were 1 or so. First kid got a 9 month backpacking trip the year before he started school and they have told me over and over how grateful they are we took them travelling. They remember a ton from toddlerhood on and have a great world view. We're always talking about experiences we all had and friends they made along the way. It's no harder than being at home in my opinion...just go for it if you want and are able to.
i’m pretty fair myself & when i made the switch to the physicians formula bronzer shade “bronzer”, i never looked back. 😅 looks so much better then i could’ve imagined!!
I wish more people would realize how important cutting back on alcohol is. I have never drank but alcoholism runs in my family. I'm now caring for my 51 year old brother who was diagnosed with (alcohol induced) cirrhosis of the liver.😢
Not sure if someone else recommended it yet but Ruthless Elimination of Hurry was really impactful to me surrounding the topic of rest. 😊 love how intentional you have been around taking time off and learning to honour your self and family through it.
I went on the Wish in March with my extended family. You all will love it! My nephew who is Gigi’s age & he LOVED the kids club. Him and his sister (age 7) constantly asked to go. It was my first cruise ever so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but it was truly magical. Just be mindful of the elevator buttons. They are VERY sensitive.
“The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry” by John Mark Comer was LIFECHANGING for me and a lot of my friends! All about true rest, like, well - “Rest” the book you referenced 🤭 definitely 💯 recommend!
I agree with what you said about milestones. The only thing I would add is that if you feel something is wrong talk to the kids pediatrician. I have triplets and one of them has cerebral palsy, we are the ones who noticed that something was going on and brought it to our kids nurses and pediatrician. If we had waited she would not have gotten the interventions she needed as soon as she did. Always trust your gut.
I definitely appreciate you talking about the cutting back of alcohol. As a parent of older children it comes up often. It is EVERYWHERE! Movies, books, shows etc....just comes across as a "this is what you do as an adult". And I think that message should not be given and everywhere...so I so appreciate hearing what you said on that. I just finished Burnout (book) and it talked a good amount about rest, society etc. It had a lot of good info in it. I like reading a non-fiction and fiction at the same time. I also "suffer" from guilt about resting. Hopefully this is another message that is common in our society that should change. Lastly, I hear you on Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow, I was so disappointed! It had sounded so good..I didn't even finish it, and that is not the norm for me. Ugh!
@@LindsayD228 Sure...sorry I should of added that. Emily Nagoski PhD , Amelia Nagoski DMA. I thought it was a worthwhile read, and definitely gained some things from it.
I would love for you to make a video all about the pros and cons traveling with kids. That is the biggest worry for my husband and I as we love to travel but also want kids and just aren’t sure how that would work. I’d love to hear your input on the topic! ❤
Tip for the Vessis, I have the white and recently wore them in Italy - literally hiked cinque terre in them and they got sooo dirty. I found mixing laundry detergent with boiling water and using a toothbrush on the stains worked really well. Then I put liquid detergent directly on the shoes and kind of rubbed it in with my hands and then put it in the wash - they literally look brand new!
I did dry January this year and actually stuck to it. I started trying non-alcoholic beers and discovered that I absolutely love them and what I was really getting out of beer, was the taste and the satisfying feeling of have a "special" drink after a long day. Now I rarely drink - maybe once a week, but usually not because I've realized how much more I love going to sleep sober. It's been so great. Cutting back so much was also not something I thought I would do, but I cant imagine going back to how I was living before. Happy for yal you were able to get to a healthier space with alcohol.
I really enjoyed your perspective on cutting back on alcohol. Thank you so much for explaining your reason. You are absolutely right and spot on with everything you said. Now I am inspired to do the same!
I just found your channel and I TRULY enjoy your videos ! I get soooo excited when I get a notification- it’s literally like sitting and chatting or trying on makeup with a bestie ❤
I work from home. I find setting a schedule for myself is very helpful. I don't know if it works for all situations, but I have set break and lunch times. I also still get up in the morning and hour before work starts and change into clean clothes and do the same things I did in the office. I just sit and drink coffee during the times I would have been commuting
I just started reading Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend. If you’re a chronic people-pleaser, or struggle with where to set boundaries as a Christian, it’s an excellent and easy read! It may become the book I have to re-read every few years as well. A friend of mine reads it once a year for the reminder!
We just did Boundaries in Marriage with our church small group. I feel like I need go read the normal Boundaries book though. Those are the boundaries I have more difficulty with.
Read the book years ago. It was recommended to me by my Christian counselor while I was going through a divorce after 30+ years of marriage. It was a good help to me and I still use several of the suggestions today.
When I worked at home I use to work out in my makeup all the time. There are some TH-cam videos on how to touch up after working out. I just didn't want to redo my makeup. I have oily skin and I didn't have any issues. Thanks for the video!
Have you ever tried taking a teaspoon of local wildflower honey each day for your allergies? My husband used to get sinus infections and have to use an inhaler every year because of his seasonal allergies, but once he started using local honey every day, his symptoms are almost completely resolved. He hasn’t had an infection nor needed an inhaler in years! And now I can sleep at night again! I feel awful that you suffer from allergies so badly, and thought this might be worth a try! 💜
I have worn the Whoop fitness tracker for a year and when I log alcohol my recovery the following day is TRASH. Of all the behaviors I log it has the most significant negative impact. I have recently evaluated why I want to drink and have been thinking so deeply about it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I totally just finished the book”Every Summer After” last night. I cried no less than 2 times. I felt like the actual ending was rushed but definitely couldn’t put it down. Great Read!
New York is THE place to see shows! Many (!) Years ago, I was able to see The King and I with Yul Brenner, and I have never forgotten it. Have a wonderful time !!!
I’ve replaced my glass of Prosecco (which would often turn into more than 1) in the evening while cooking dinner with a bubbly water served in the same glass and at 48 my body feels better for it!! When at dinner with friends, I’ll enjoy a glass of wine and stop there because now I get major headaches if I have more! Love your makeup in this video (as always!)
I would love a more in-depth talk about travel with kids! My husband and I traveled a ton before and want to do more with our daughter (1.5yr). I’d love your advice on what to do for meltdowns on the road, schedule and routines (or lack thereof), how to plan and include them, ideas of things to do that are kid friendly when you travel, etc.
Jessica afternoon dedicated watcher of youth inside discovered you about 6 months ago and I just love how you are so honest about everything and you truly are genuine and I'm sure that comes from God ❤ keep doing you I'll keep you in my prayers and PS you and your husband have great communication skills keep it up😊
I would love a video on all the ins and outs of traveling with kids and what has worked best for you! I’m looking to fly with a baby soon and I would just love to know what to bring and what the rules are as far as air travel!
So you mentioned you’ve only seen one movie with Matthew McConaughey and I just want to add if you’ve never seen “wedding planner” with Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez it’s a must watch! It’s a classic and so hilarious!! I always look forward to your videos Jessica!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
In response to your question about recommendations for other books to improve your life, business, and everything in between -- it may be old news by now, but I highly recommend The 80/20 Principle. I used to be a leadership and employee performance coach and consultant and this book really helped me focus on how I wanted to teach managers and leaders to look at their jobs, and it also helped me as an entrepreneur. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. Here is a little info: "Be more effective with less effort by learning how to identify and leverage the 80/20 principle: that 80 percent of all our results in business and in life stem from a mere 20 percent of our efforts. The 80/20 principle is one of the great secrets of highly effective people and organizations."
As a New Yorker I loved hearing you talk about your NY trip and excitement for our city! 😊 You’re right, even as a local there is something fun and exciting about being in the heart of it all in midtown! Also something about seeing tourists with glistening eyes and excitement actually makes me happy haha ❤
I'm going on my first cruise in July and I'll be on the Disney Wish too! I hope you have a great time. It would be fun to hear a recap if you'd be down for it!
My mom made grilled cheese with tomato and bacon all the time when I was little or as an open face toasted in the oven. I bet it would be amazing with garden tomatoes in your panini press!
The drinking subject… I had to come to that realization also I was beginning to have a drink or 2 mid week having a hard time getting my son up for school so I knew it was time 😊
I was born and raised on the upper east side. You and Tyler would love the vibe there. Stay at the Stanhope. Beautiful views of Central Park. Two incredable museums at your finger tips. There is also a beautiful garden on 102 street and 5th ave. Also easy to get to the upper west side. Lovely walk through central park. Zabars for food food food. When your not taking a taxi to the broadway shows, its just a beautiful happy experience. 😊
Kids’ artwork: save holiday themed pieces in the holiday decor boxes. Be sure to write name and year on it somewhere. Even if I don’t display it, I love looking at it each year.
I loved Sacred Rest. It hit on so many things I didn’t even realize I was experiencing. Also would love to know what shows you are going to see in NYC. I’m sure you have mentioned it before but would love to hear your and Tyler’s favorite shows.
You should try the summer Fridays skin tint! It's so nice over a tinted sunscreen for "No make up days"....I think you would love it too!! And would love to here your impression on it too :)
Please do a VLOG on your Gardening journey for inspo especially since I don't have a green thumb lol but also love you talking about the non alcoholic drinks since Im pregnant & its nice to have those options since I miss it at times ,but also now that I've been trying different ones it makes me realize that I just miss the taste not the aftermath of how it makes you feel.
Absolutely loved "Every Summer After" and I think it might be one of my new favorites. Jess, you should start a book club called the online besties book club 😊
Let me know if u need flowers tips. I was born and raised in a HUGE garden center, almost literally. My mom took me to work daily and I napped in a box in the greenhouse.
I have 3 pairs of Vessi, I love them but the light pink and white ones I have get dirty fast and I don't remember bumping into anything. There are black stains, looks like grease, they are difficult to clean. I use oxy-clean and it helps but they don't look like they did out of the box. The 3rd pair is a med blue color, doesn't look so dirty so I think get the darker colors.
Hello! I wanted to address the fear around children not meeting milestones. I’m an early childhood education specialist and I see so many parents hung up on their child not meeting milestones. The age expectations are just a general guide on what your child should be doing or what is appropriate at that age to work on. Not all children will be meeting expectations equally and that is normal, please don’t fear these great tools! I had a 9 month old who wasn’t crawling yet and mom was very worried, we gave her a few activities she could try at home to encourage it and within a couple weeks he began crawling. That same child is using gestures and syllables intentionally to communicate which is above his age expectation. if your child doesn’t fit into those boxes oh well, in my whole career I’ve never seen a child in assessments I’ve done meet all expectations. Use these tools to instead better cater your activities/toys to your child’s specific areas of strength/need and interest. Please don’t be hard on yourself, mama’s❤
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow was not a fave of mine either. It was just weird and way too long. Greenlights is on my TBR as well. I’m excited that you guys have decided to split that up into 2 vlogs. Looking forward to listening!
We had originally planned on a laying low kinda vacation but then…..we decided to book a beach house at the Jersey shore for a week. We do live in NJ so we’re not leaving “home” haha)! But, we live in a small town with nothing to do and as long as we can take the dog we go away for a week every year. I wish we could get away more and we plan to do so. We’re really excited for this trip!
It’s HARD not comparing kiddos but you’re so correct, they will get there. We had 2 10month walkers and a 12month walker. Our first & one of our twins were the early walkers & the same 10month walkers were climbing out of their cribs at 14mos! Plus the twins stopped napping at 18mos. 😂. Fun times!

Always love a coffee chat video!
My husband and I are big Disney people and we're going on our first Disney cruise this summer. We're so excited.
Love your spirit, you’re such a joy to watch. 💝
You channel is such a breath of fresh air! I just wanted to tell you that! I really enjoy it! Love you❤
I watch both yours and Tyler's channels and love you both! Tyler is catching up with subscribers!! 😊
24/6: A prescription for a healthier, happier life is a phenomenal book on rest!
I agree such a good movie!
I recommend the Ruthless Elimination of Hurry for rest!
As a New Yorker I loved hearing you talk about your NY trip and excitement for our city! 😊 You’re right, even as a local there is something fun and exciting about being in the heart of it all in midtown! Also something about seeing tourists with glistening eyes and excitement actually makes me happy haha ❤
The bareminerals loose blushes are great, I am positive you’d love the shade golden gate!
I am with you on the alcohol. I just turned 37 and it makes me feel so sick the next day even if I don't drink more than one or two drinks.
I’m on a garden journey too, the YT channel Garden Answer has been very very helpful. Good luck!
YAY! Mid-year book update - I'm here for it!
Honestly these videos are almost like podcasts for me now. Perfect to have on pretty much all the time 😅
Got the 8 second wonder water and a pavoi necklace today!!!
The drinking subject… I had to come to that realization also I was beginning to have a drink or 2 mid week having a hard time getting my son up for school so I knew it was time 😊
I’ve been reading through The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer and it’s a great read to go along with the theme of rest!
I second this it’s such a good book!!
I came to the comments to recommend this one too!
11:55 watching this after I hung out with my chickens while I’m laying in the hammock! No guilt 🙌🏼
Looking forward to hearing about your half year book updates!
So true! Kids will walk when they walk.
Love the half year book update idea! So cozy 🥰 also loved greenlights & hotel Nantucket
I am loving your hair and these coffee chats ❤❤ ☕️ ☕️
NYC is the best and the theater is the best.
You should definitely "promote" thrifted items when you can - it might inspire people to go out thrifting more often!
Jess, let me help you with your Korean pronunciation: bi-bim-bahp (soft p, no puff of air). So delicious, do you do crispy rice too? It’s the besssst
I had the same experience with the Vessi shoes!!
Came at such a good time! Just letting my tan process 🫶🏻
I also end up doing sports with makeup still on from the day - love if you used that as sweat test on mascaras to report which look fine by the end.
I cannot recommend enough seeing Sweeney Todd on Broadway! Saw it in April and it was LIFE CHANGING! ❤
Jessie- try fels naptha on your shoes! It’s the only thing that gets softball gear clean!!
The "bronzer" shade of the butter bronzer is definitely cooler toned than the "light bronzer" shade which was very yellow/orange on me.
😂. Fun times!
Not me switching from TH-cam to Libby and back as you talk about books 😂
I can’t wait to go on the Disney Dream in the summer.
I have one mixed drink every now and then and i can barely wake up in the morning the day after, getting old sucks :)
I 100% agree on Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow! Great start and then major depressing-fest til the end.
Love your honesty Jess ❤
Try using dawn power wash spray on your Vessi shoes before washing them. I do that and it gets it next to new levels of clean.
Literally just finished The Hotel Nantucket!! Loved it
