'I'm going out' is another good song off the same album Murda Muzik and is a lot more of a fast paced song with rapid lyrical deliver. Perfect song to go pumped to. 'Moment of Truth' by Gang Starr is also a pretty good song with poignant messages throughout.

I remember seeing the post about your dad getting you the old Hip-Hop magazines and thought that was great. Well, I was listening to track # 4 off this album, Eye for an Eye Feat. Nas & RaeKwon(Wu-Tang), that led me to Verbal Intercourse which is on Raekwon’s solo debut, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. This album is considered a classic. There was a magazine back then called The Source and there was a piece called 5 mics. This piece/artist spotlight was based on lyricism, the verse would get a mic rating. The scale was from 1/2 a mic to 5 mics, 5 was rarely seen but the greats were awarded. Nas’ verse was awarded 5 mics and to me is one of the most amazing verses I’ve ever heard. I still remember reading the lyrics like “wow, how the hell does he do it?” You should review that song if you really want to hear a word smith at his finest.

Off the same album, play (Just Step Prelude) straight through to the end of Give Up the Goods. It’s a beautiful story/experience. However Trife Life and then off the Hell on Earth album More Trife Life is another good combination. Blood sport is another amazing track off of Hell on Earth, if you just want the feel of a single.

Hey did you get a chance to mention 1. the "Thug Life" add libs started a well known beef with Tupac and 2. I want to suggest "Thug Life is Mine" by Mobb Deep F/ Nas... That beat is from the movie Scarface and the name is a play on Brandy and Monica's "The Boy is Mine". Also with that song, notice the progression of the Havoc then Prodigy then Nas's steadily more impressive performances.

My favorite group of all time. It's kinda hard to understand the dialect in 2023 if you wasn't around back then in NY for most. There's words that mean something else and goes completely over heads now.

You guys should also check out "Children's Story" by Slick Rick. An old school British rapper with a hell of a kids story. He weaves a great story with words in this one and I think your dad will really enjoy it.
