I always say The Street is a masterclass in novel writing. The ending still haunts me. Also, TSWSBTD is an amazing movie and I know the book has to be even more profound. Gotta get it off my TBR soon.
That’s actually a perfect way to put it! I know it’s a novel I’ll continue to go back to. It’s funny that a lot of people have watched the movie and not read the book when I always thought the book was more popular. I’m planning to get to the movie this weekend.

Dawn is definitely one of my faves too! I call they the shady aliens. 😂😅I thought the rest of the trilogy was just ok. You have to read Kindred. I think you'd like that one too.

I enjoyed the recent James by Percival Everett … The Known World by Edward P Jones … Native Son by Richard Wright is extremely intense, to say the least… The Parable of the Sower gave me indigestion 😂 Loved Imago though …

I read the dawn series by Octavia E Butler. I enjoyed the first one. As for the other two...they were okay. But I'll wait to hear your thoughts on them once you get to them. The street has been added to my TBR. It does sound like a book I would gravitate towards to. Sign me up for anything black women go through and still come on top. See you in the next video!☺

I definitely need to read more Octavia Butler. I want to finish her Wild Seed series before I start another series. The Spook has been on my list forever. You have influenced me to move it up on my list.

The Street is underrated and I don’t hear enough people talking about it! It’s breathtakingly beautiful. I read it five years ago and I still think about it often. I found a copy in a Free Library and I was so happy to be able to put it in my bookshelf. It would be a great book club pick.
I completely agree. Oh lucky you to find such a gem in a FLL! It’s definitely a book to keep on the shelves and go back to from time to time as we get older.

Now let me be clear lol. Book ONE is good. Book 2 is where it all falls apart for me. It gets redundant and turns into a full on erotica novel which I didn’t ask for. So I’m not continuing the series.
