Don't get discouraged with the small ferro rod. I think it's a fine package and a nice gift. How many ferro rods do you need? I started carrying a 5$ Bic lighter that I get a couple hundred fires out of. I went from collecting BIG choppers and bowies to small concealable tactical type fixed blades. Yes the internet has hyped up the super steels and the majority are tabletop nerds who need top notch materials and is a hobby they just have money to blow and too much of an opinion over us who actually hard use our knives. They fidget and maybe cut some paper but need magnacut or better. For me 1098, D2, 14c28n, 154cm lasts me a year of daily thumping. That's why I have ceramic rods and a strop and I don't reprofile my edges anymore. After 30+yrs of collecting and losing collections and starting over again, I think my opinion means something. Thanks for the video and Happy New Year

I bought this knife for myself for Christmas and like it much. And that is what I'm carrying.

That Swisstech is the best looking one I've seen 👍 you ask what we're carrying? I got a Petrified Fish Victor for Christmas. It's phukin AWESOME. I stopped buying folders but this got me fired up for the New Year, I ordered another one the PF Viking. Ones a clip point, one looks like a mini Sumuri sword. Great quality for 40$ that I wave out with the front flipper , everyone should check them out if your not familiar with Petrified Fish, I wasn't. For 35-45$ you get awesome fit +finish and some beefy cool designs most are k110 steel or 14c28n. I really haven't liked a folder this much that wasn't a 150$ Spyderco or 200$ Emerson. 👍

I got one when they first came out. For 40 bucks it's a hell of a, good quality belt knife. That aus8 is some crazy tough stuff with the heat treatment they used, like shockingly tough. I have made some kitchen knives for clients out of aus8 so I have some experience with it and while it's not a great steel it's certainly not a bad steel and it truly is a very tough steel when tempered down around 57hrc like Swiss tech is doing it. Don't expect very much edge retention when cutting abrasive materials but when cutting most organics the edge retention is serviceable and the toughness is pretty insane. Lots of people hate on aus8 but it's actually a really decent camp knife/skinning knife/belt knife steel just due to its very high levels of toughness when it's ran in the lower range of its optimal hardness. With the temper that Swiss tech is using you can expect edge deformation to be rolls rather than chips and you can expect the the knife to bend rather than break if you are really working them hard.
As far as Swiss techs customer service I experienced the exact same. I was rather upset when my Balken folder had a crunchy action and more up and down play than I was comfortable with. Axis like locks can have slight up and down play and I mean very slight and that's fairly normal only a few companies have got the tolerances tight enough that there is zero up and down play. The Balken had enough that I could lightly rock it up and down and you would hear the blade hitting the stop pin. That's not acceptable, well my daughter and I went to Walmart and they didn't have any on stock so I didn't want to get a gift card and buy something else as my 16 year old daughter spent her little money to buy it for me as a gift so I kept it. I contacted them and was quickly told that some play in the lock is within spec and so long as the lock isn't failing it's functional... I was like I make knives and I have been in the knife hobby for well over 30 years and making knives over 20 so I know what acceptable tolerance is and that's not acceptable. I sent them a video on IG of it and that it has like no kidding like 3/16th inch of movement up and down. They replied to me a few times telling me the lock isn't failing so it's within spec... I wasn't rude I wasnt mean or nasty I was being completely respectful and polite and all I was asking for is to send it in to them for a replacement since my Walmart had no more and I wasnt driving over a. Hour to another Walmart only to find out they have none. I just wanted a working knife.. Well after I told them that play is unacceptable and I really would like a replacement and I have no issue paying shipping both ways I was told 'sir I have told you if the lock isn't failing the knife is within spec and we will not be doing a replacement' and blocked me instantly after sending that message.
I screen shot everything and I'm growing a channel now so once I have a fair bit of followers and getting good views I will post a video with the knife and how bad it is plus the screen shots of the communication. That is no way to treat a customer that got a bad product, now I will say I own Wurdig, Stahlern, gerundet and all three of them are fantastic knives for a good price with the Wurdig being a really excellent little Edc knife even if the aus8 is to soft for Edc knives and the edge retention is fairly poor. So I don't mind the brand and find the designs interesting and the quality to be fair for the price but with customer service like I experienced in Nov I can assure you that they will never see another one of my cents. I will not support companies that don't treat customers right after the deal is complete. I got your money already so F off is exactly the attitude I got from them and that is completely unacceptable. So I'm just gonna wait until my local store has them back in stock and go try to get a replacement if it's possible and if it's not then it will just me a piece that is a keepsake from my little girl.

Thank you for this awesome comment. The customer service is absolute garbage. I will not purchase any more knives from them. The one in the video was a gift for Christmas but I wil NEVER buy anything from that shit company.
