Yes, I am a bit shocked that a techie on YT that proclaims to know more than the combined weight of Apple's iPad team, does not realise that the market the base iPad is targeted at MUST have non-laminated displays for cheaper repair. This is quite worrying that YT influencers are spreading misinformation for the sake of clicks.
Went in to the Apple Store yesterday to check the 10th gen out to upgrade out of my 7th gen which worked perfect still.. thought hey new design but man when I saw the air 5.. it was worth the $129 extra.. big difference in screen quality
I’m so glad I’m here with my iPad 8th gen. Works like a charm (and it feels faster after iPadOS 16, it’s definitely a lot less buggy for me) and the smart keyboard and apple pencil make for a really nice experience.
I wound a glitch on the new IPAD OS16 one of my apps is closing crashing and there’s no updates on the app so yeah I got an older iPad and on that one the app is fine no difference I tried everything you can posible say but it all goes to the new iOS messing up . Again it might be only my iPad but idk Rick 😅hopefully apple fixes the issues .
IPad Air is way better than this garbage 1. IPad Air has laminated screen 2. Better uncapped A14 processor 3. Apple pencil 2 support 4. USB 3.0 type c port 5. Much cheaper nowadays Only buy iPad 10 if you 1. Only buy new products 2. Horizontal front camera
It is 11/4/2023 and the 9G iPad is on sale at Walmart, Target and Amazon for ~$249 (an early Black Friday 2023 Deal? ), I picked one up from Walmart for
I think what Apple did was use the chipset from the lightning port on the previous generation which is USB 2.0 and they just changed the port on the end instead of actually including a USB 3 port to save cost. They know most people who will buy them will never connect anything to it.
Biggest problem ipad 10th gen is price increase, if they would kept cost around $350 with $99 keyboard case, and still had these issues it would have been different story but for $130 price increase an having these issues are ridiculous an $250 keyboard case for base ipad is insane!
That's the perfect iPad for me the 10th gen. Keep in mind not all the people change their devices year to year. The last iPad I bought was an iPad Air 2 in 2014. And I'm still writing this comment on it, because my main purpose of it's existence was watching TH-cam and Netflix. Sometimes some web browsing and professionally I used it for Teams calls and also for apps for live sound mixing consoles like A&H dLive or SQ. I did not need anything else, and I would continue to use it if the battery would not become unreliable. My brother bought an iPad Air with the M2 chip and I loved it but could not justify the price on such low usage and since I know I won't use the Apple Pencil at all the 10th gen is perfect for my upgrade as it looks the same as the Air (which I love the look over the 9th gen by ba huge mile) and the camera in the middle is a big deal for me for the Teams meetings as I will look more naturally. So yeah I do get it in the year by year comparison it's a weird device, but for me it just ticks every single thing for a lower price than the Air. Keep in mind I used the 2014 till now with no issues for my usage so even if I get 6 years out of the 10th gen that's ok for me. So IMO there is a market for this product. I know I will enjoy it! Peace!
HERES THE DEAL….For 99 percent of people the ninth gen is absolutely perfect. There really is no difference between the two. If your worried about bezels and a home button and minor stuff then your over thinking everything. My iPad 9 at 269.99 is one of the best purchases for price I’ve ever made! I have a screen protector on mine and the display is still great. This thing plays games FAST. LOADS EVERYTHING FAST. You can have 20 apps open at the same time and it will NOT lag! People have no clue, they just see a new model and assume it’s way better at everything, it’s not. iPad ninth gen is an awesome tablet!!!!
@@rommelflores2618 it's awesome. And the price is unbeatable. A lot of people are using androids and are just scared to use ipadOS. I WAS TOO. Now, I'll never by another android tablet again.
Also, they now sell for about 220. Ive since upgraded to the Air 5 only because I sold my 9th gen for 250 bucks and bought the air 5 for 399 plus tax brand new. The air 5 is definetly the best bang for your bucks right now. The display is larger and the M1 chip is super quick. I also just bought an M2 iPad Pro for 400! Istill got 512 GB WiFi plus cellular.
The 9th gen Apple iPad was nearly perfect at $329 (sometimes as low as $269 at Amazon). It was probably the Apple product with the most bang for your buck. I'm glad it's not discontinued (yet), but the 10th gen is for almost no one. It's too expensive for an entry-level tablet and under-powered for more than casual use.
Every musician and actor I know owns one. The screen could be larger, but having it all in your hand in one place versus paper scores and scripts and pens (versus just drawing changes and notes on the PDF directly)... But at $450? It's suddenly a luxury item again versus a cheap tool. That's a 50% ( FIFTY PERCENT! ) increase in street price for what? If it was maybe a 2K display or had 256GB standard or or or... but this almost feels like usury. Pay your Apple Tax, peasant!
@@Hehehe-hf7rq My point exactly. All the 9s were gobbled up already because of the large price increase. At $300, yes, it's way better than the extra money on an iPad air. At $450... excuse me while a laugh a bit... :)
Getting myself the iPad 9 for my birthday. I have a 2021 MacBook that usually stays in my desk and need something I can take around to the kitchen, living room and bed since my phone isn’t the best at watching content. Even if I had the money, there’s not much difference with the iPad 10 or even air
Both are fine options… all depends how much you want to spend… still using the iPad 7… has been a great device! Ask yourself, who sits there looking at a gap somewhere on the edge of the screen?? Nobody except the reviewer…

Great quick review. Nice steps forward with the design, cameras and speakers, but no real steps forward with the internals or display, two big disappointments (Pencil support and USB 2 speeds). Doesn't exactly scream value, does it?
no but i dont think it was suppose to be. it was meant for those that just wanted a better display. like my grandparents. don't use pen and steam everything so the 64gb not a big deal to them
@@takoflame4948 Hold on. The display is ever-so-slightly bigger - 0.7" diagonally, which is just 3.3% wider and 3.3% taller. That's better in an absolute sense, but certainly no reason to upgrade. Especially since pixel density, brightness, and the underlying display technologies (IPS, True Tone, non-laminated, etc.) are identical between 9th and 10th gen devices, so contrast, color accuracy, "depth", etc. are all going to feel more or less identical. It seems to me the "value" in the 10th gen is more about the A14 vs. A13 chipsets (which probably isn't that noticeable for many use cases), the better cameras (esp. the better placed front camera), and the fresh colors. That said, it still seems to me that someone looking for the best deal on an iPad ought to go for the 9th gen or for the M1-equipped Air. The 10th gen iPad seems to be caught out in the middle, IMO. YMMV.
That new design... *perfection* But yeah, the iPad 10's speakers sounded just a little bit 'muted' compared to the iPad 9 as you said, but it does actually sound a bit better than that of the iPad 9 the more I listen to it.
I have used 9th Gen iPad for PUBG until it crack by falling and now purchased M1 iPad pro but holding the pro is for gaming in painful with that flat corner... So is iPad 10... Still prefer iPad 9 for that curved corners.
Hands down I must say that you have the best product review that I have ever seen. After vacillating whether to get the new 10th generation or the 9th generation for my son, I'm definitely getting the 9th, which I think will work well for him for several years. All the reviews that I have seen on the new 10th are about the same, not worth the monies! Thanks, you have a new subscriber.
I got one too, on last Tuesday a 9th generation basic iPad model fully loaded with max RAM and the data cell option. Ordered mine off of Apple’s Veteran web site and saved 10 percent (smile…smile).
Just me but I would only buy a :refurbished/ renewed iPad/iPhone from Apple. Even in Amazon's own listing they state that the products are not guaranteed to be waterproof.
I was waiting for the announcement of the 10 before I made a purchase. For me, as an artist, I went for the 9 and bought it at Walmart for $299 plus the pencil. The value just wasn't there for me to purchase the 10.
I was also waiting for the announcement of the 10th gen . Wanted to grab the $400 256gb version last week but they increased the price after the announcement
I waited for this new iPad 10th gen, but as soon as I saw the specs and the price i was disappointed and quickly ordered the 9th gen for $180 less than the 10th gen. The 10th generation iPad was a super disappointment for me. Not worth $450 👎
If it was a direct replacement for the iPad 9 I.e. the same price or a modest increase, a lot of the weirdness would be easy to forgive. But when the iPad 9 still exists, the iPad Air 4 and 5 still exist, and more importantly the refurb and used market can get you a better iPad for similar prices, it doesn’t make sense for almost anyone to buy this
Good video as usual. Think your slide for the Metal GPI is misleading. The 7,324 vs 12,668 should be poles apart but on the bar chart the two bars look to be maybe only 15% different. Not a major issue but nice to see the visuals correctly so don't need to focus on the numbers so much.
Him: They're still using the apple pencil from 2015! The display hasn't upgraded! You need an adapter! Camera on the iPad 9 is pretty poor. 41.25Mb transfer speed! etc. Me with an iPad 3G: ... Nope, not upgrading yet.
After seeing this video i‘am so glad that I bought my iPad 9th Gen in April. I got it for about 330€ with 256gb and I use it primarily for writing in university. Personally If i would want to upgrade now, i would rather look at a 4th gen iPad Air or go directly to the M1 iPad Pro.

was it refurbished? because 330€ for 256gb is quite weird
I’ve never owned an iPad. If I were to purchase one it would most likely be the newer model. I would only use it to watch movies while out on the road. Then again my phone already does that so….
I‘m glad i bought my 9th generation iPad a few months ago and didn‘t bother waiting for the new one… unless Apple changes it’s now apparent rip off policy, it will be my last one…
I will continue to see this on every video in which I see it come up on. Use the old adapter that comes in the box. Plus a lightning to USB-C cable and plug it in that way. The old female lightning to female, lightning adapter that came with the original Apple pencils, I don’t see why I wouldn’t work.
Could you please advise further on what I should use to transfer file/documents from iPad to external hard drive? Does the normal hard working? Without causing damage/lost data in iPad or iPhone
I had the same file transfer experience with the current iPad Mini. Absolutely unacceptable. A useless USB C connector. Often it wouldn't even give me any indication of the copy/paste progress, it would just freeze and the file would suddenly appear when done.
I bought the 9 a few days ago. It was $269 at both Walmart and Amazon. My 6th gen battery is getting weak so it was just a matter of time. It’s still in the box and using my 6 till the otter box gets here. Then the old pad is up for sale.
i would just go with the ipad 9 at the low price bracket. i had bought the ipad mini 6 before ipados 16 was announced and am unhappy that it doesn't have stage manager. i think the best ipad to get right now is the ipad air 5 with a cheaper logitech keyboard case.
I’m so disappointed by this new model. It’s like almost perfectly made for my use case, but the price increase kills it. I rarely use the Apple Pencil, and I don’t know why i even own one, so the issues with that aren’t a problem for me. I mainly use it in landscape as a netbook replacement, so the speaker upgrades are appreciated. The only problem for me is the price. I can’t justify spending that much on a toy when the price is that close to the air which is so much better.
i cant seem to decide whether 256gb storage is worth paying extra for, im a student who will predominantly use this ipad for surfing the internet, playing games and consuming content. please help me out
You have an lightning to lightning female adapter in the apple pencil box. Then you can use an lightning to usc c cable (the one you get with airpods or iPhones) to charge the pencil with the iPad or you can charge it with a normal charging adapter.
I got the 9th gen with the folio detatchable keyboard and pencil all for just about $500 and works like a charm and its nice for when i dont want to carry my macbook around but for the price it was very afforable for apple
I have a 2014 iPad with 2 GB RAM and it is bafflimg to me that the iPad 9 still only has 3 GB, because I find 2 GB woefully inadequate. I’m hesistant to even get a 4 GB pad.
I understand but iPad utilise their ram to the best of their ability and they are so well optimized they could run better than some tablets with 8gb ram.
I only upgrade iPads every 4+ years so I will get the 10. It’s definitely not the best, but I don’t want to be an old device. I just wish the price was lower. Do any of you guys have advice?
I dont have an iPad right now, I dont want to use the pencil, I just want to watch netflix and check documents on the cloud… is the 64gb 10th gen worth it for that?
@@thetechrealist It’s an important topic to me, I use my iPad a lot and frequently need to charge it and my 6th gen only charges at 10/11W, even with a 20W one and a USB-C cable. Because it’s capped.
Unfortunately, as a musician trying to ditch sheet music, this new iPad is still the most attractive option for me. The 9th gen doesn’t have enough screen space for me to comfortably read music, but the 10th gen does, and it’s cheaper than the air. I wish it was a bit cheaper, or had slightly better features, but for me as long as the screen is big enough and I can use a pencil with it, thats all that matters.
The transfer speed is slow because it needs a external power supply. My ipad mini 6 is slow when when there is no external power while transferring files to a back up hard drive

@@Eddy_E. bro like good enough means good enough
@@MinneAnt that’s not the point, when he say it shares internals with the pro models some people could understand that that he gets same power like on the pros but this is by far not the case…
Yes it’s even faster then the fastest android tablets but the pro models top this drasticly…
The newest pros have 1 2/3 times more single core speed, double multi core speed, 2 2/3 or 5 1/3 times more RAM and over 4 times graphic power…
That’s not only a small gap…
And again, that should not sound so that the iPad 9 is bad, in no way but it’s not even close to the pro models…
The only other iPad in this league is the iPad Air 5 with the m1 chipset but all other iPads (7,8,9,10, mini 5,6, Air 3,4, pro 9.7“, 10.5“ and 12.9“ 1. and 2. gen) are a good step under this performance and all of that have still a great performance for the next couple of years…
True, i really love the of design, and kinda sad that 9 gne is the last one to have it
The non laminated display means that if the screen is cracked it's much cheaper to repair as only the glass needs to be changed.
4:38 This is actually an improvement than laminated displays in terms of repair costs. It's cheaper to repair just the top glass than the entire display.
Again it might be only my iPad but idk Rick 😅hopefully apple fixes the issues .
ipad 8 has ipados 16.?
How we upgrade to Ipados 16 ?
@@darling5980 bruh iPad 8 will have updates at least up to ios18

Please do also a comparison between this and the 2020 iPad Air.
IPad Air is way better than this garbage
1. IPad Air has laminated screen
2. Better uncapped A14 processor
3. Apple pencil 2 support
4. USB 3.0 type c port
5. Much cheaper nowadays
Only buy iPad 10 if you
1. Only buy new products
2. Horizontal front camera
It is 11/4/2023 and the 9G iPad is on sale at Walmart, Target and Amazon for ~$249 (an early Black Friday 2023 Deal? ), I picked one up from Walmart for
I need headphone jack. I need it so much that I bought the 9th gen. It’s still very fast and I love the iconic old design. Perfect iPad ever.
same use for loopy pro and I found a 9th gen for 200 bucks .
I think what Apple did was use the chipset from the lightning port on the previous generation which is USB 2.0 and they just changed the port on the end instead of actually including a USB 3 port to save cost. They know most people who will buy them will never connect anything to it.
The iPad 9 is the all around better choice and tablet. Plus you get the headphone jack
I bought the iPad 9. for 289€ and I'm very happy with it!
Is it worth to upgrade from iPad 9 to 10 ?
Ye mate that's also my best purchase for a tablet ever!
@@rommelflores2618 it's awesome. And the price is unbeatable. A lot of people are using androids and are just scared to use ipadOS. I WAS TOO. Now, I'll never by another android tablet again.
I agree 100%
Also, they now sell for about 220. Ive since upgraded to the Air 5 only because I sold my 9th gen for 250 bucks and bought the air 5 for 399 plus tax brand new. The air 5 is definetly the best bang for your bucks right now. The display is larger and the M1 chip is super quick. I also just bought an M2 iPad Pro for 400! Istill got 512 GB WiFi plus cellular.
I got one of each yesterday. The 9 is 179 at Best Buy. The 10 is 349. Everyone’s getting iPads for Christmas!
@@plektosgaming it makes zero sense to get the 10th gen over the ipad air 🤣🤣🤣
@@Hehehe-hf7rq My point exactly. All the 9s were gobbled up already because of the large price increase. At $300, yes, it's way better than the extra money on an iPad air. At $450... excuse me while a laugh a bit... :)
I don’t see how it’s underpowered for more than casual use but yeah the 9 is better.
@@9852323 got my nine for less than 200
when you guys doing the ‘I’m sending it back don’t buy this one!’ video ? Looking forward to that one
Me too, buying stuff and retuning it is really not fair on Apple, these reviewers do it all the time to make money for themselves.
I just bought the iPad Gen 9 because, I think it’s a better value. New form factor and features of the Gen 10 not worth the higher price.
I agree, if you want the new form factor, get the air or pro.
Getting myself the iPad 9 for my birthday. I have a 2021 MacBook that usually stays in my desk and need something I can take around to the kitchen, living room and bed since my phone isn’t the best at watching content. Even if I had the money, there’s not much difference with the iPad 10 or even air
Man that transfer speed is really bad, but the types of people using this new iPad probably will never notice it. Still not a good look though
I bought it. Pretty happy so far. First iPad. Seems like alot of negativity hype. TH-camrs sounding like an echo chamber...
Both are fine options… all depends how much you want to spend… still using the iPad 7… has been a great device! Ask yourself, who sits there looking at a gap somewhere on the edge of the screen?? Nobody except the reviewer…
Can I give you general feedback for your videos? Try to talk normally without the over energetic tone. Talk to us like you normally would with a friend. It would feel warmer, more authentic and relatable.
You have solid content. I sometimes feel the delivery could be better.
Apple finally found out people use the iPad horizontally and moved the selfie cam, but what about the Apple logo on the back?
It would look silly
After watching this I am glad I bought the 10 vs. the 9.
Great video. I am sticking with my iPad 9.
Me too
I just bought an Ipad 9th gen for $250...new. You just can't beat that deal.
Great quick review. Nice steps forward with the design, cameras and speakers, but no real steps forward with the internals or display, two big disappointments (Pencil support and USB 2 speeds). Doesn't exactly scream value, does it?
no but i dont think it was suppose to be. it was meant for those that just wanted a better display. like my grandparents. don't use pen and steam everything so the 64gb not a big deal to them
@@takoflame4948 yeah but then the price hike is also not justified
@@subhojit2003 inflation everything went up
@@takoflame4948 Hold on. YMMV.
@@takoflame4948 Its not a better display though! Same ppi, non-laminated screen also.
That new design... *perfection*
But yeah, the iPad 10's speakers sounded just a little bit 'muted' compared to the iPad 9 as you said, but it does actually sound a bit better than that of the iPad 9 the more I listen to it.
9th gen iPad FTW! Best iPad ever!
I have used 9th Gen iPad for PUBG until it crack by falling and now purchased M1 iPad pro but holding the pro is for gaming in painful with that flat corner... So is iPad 10...
Still prefer iPad 9 for that curved corners.
Could you compare the iPad mini, iPad (10th), and iPad Air ?
Thank you Max. Yes, you are right - it really isn't worth the upgrade for the money 🤷♂️
I still have my 9th generation iPad an absolutely love it.
Makes me glad I got my iPad 9 for $279 on a Labor Day sale.
I think a refurbished 2018 iPad Pro 11 inch would be a better deal compared to both the 10th gen and Air 4
Just got a 9 on Amazon sale day for $268, along with a generic case for $9. They can keep the 10.
I got one too, on last Tuesday a 9th generation basic iPad model fully loaded with max RAM and the data cell option. Ordered mine off of Apple’s Veteran web site and saved 10 percent (smile…smile).
Me too, got mine from Best Buy though with the price match. Thanks Amazon!
The iPad 9 is even cheaper from third parties if you search making it insane value for money!
I agree; for me the price is the deal breaker. Too expensive for an introductory iPad.
I’ve got 9th gen iPad I won’t be upgrading to the new model
Me too
I got the iPad Air 5 yesterday upgraded from the iPad 7th generation once I heard the a14 chip was slower preforming then the air 4.
3:15 the speakers on the 9 is all you need as I can tell this iPad gets louder than my iPhone 12 so no complaints here
I only spent 306 for my iPad, Apple Pencil, and apple care. I did a trade in from my iPad 8 to th pink iPad 10.
Just me but I would only buy a :refurbished/ renewed iPad/iPhone from Apple. Even in Amazon's own listing they state that the products are not guaranteed to be waterproof.
It would be nice if you compare it to the 2018 11” iPad Pro, that right now it’s available at the refurbished Apple Store for almost the same price!
Agreed. In the UK the iPad pro 11 inch second gen (2020) is about the same price refurbished.
+1
No need. The pro is clearly better.
non lamination helps for repair to screen / glass. this is largely used in poorer places / schools.
I did the same bro and I’m really happy with the device, 9th gen great tablet
The only reviewer that speaks the truth about the new iPad!
That is shit. Maybe dont look only on "Apple reviewers":)
How would you compare it to the 2018 iPad Pro on Apple’s refurbished site and which would be better down the road?
Those USB-C speed YIKES. That's like a cheapest Walmart pendrive. Really hoped something would change with transfer speeds
I have a question because I’m thinking of buying the 10th gen, but do you recommend it for video editing? That’s my question! Thank you!!!😊
9th and 10th are similar, because both screens are the same and the soc are quite close in real world performance.
I don't have an Apple Pencil, but I thought the pairing was with Bluetooth?
Should I get the refurbished 2nd gen iPad pro 11 instead?
Mini 6 or generation 10 which one should buy.
Please suggest me.
Him: They're still using the apple pencil from 2015! The display hasn't upgraded! You need an adapter! Camera on the iPad 9 is pretty poor. 41.25Mb transfer speed! etc.
Me with an iPad 3G: ... Nope, not upgrading yet.
I had a 9th gen and i always used it and didn’t really wanna upgrade, but it broke so I upgraded anyway
@ No, it was brand new. The store were bought it, had to close so it was on clearance.
Should have compared the battery performances too..
I heard that reviewers were having negative reactions to the new iPad, now I understand, you did a great job explaining.
The one problem i’ve always with my iPad 9 is i don’t feel like the noise is loud enough all the time and i wish it had speakers on both sides
i personally have this ipad myself, and i will say that it is a great device for ME
I’ve never owned an iPad. If I were to purchase one it would most likely be the newer model. I would only use it to watch movies while out on the road. Then again my phone already does that so….
Then why would you pay extra. The ninth gen is awesome!!!!!
Not to mention you can get the newest iPad Mini for only $50 more which supports apple pencil 2 and come with a 2 year newer chip
I‘m glad i bought my 9th generation iPad a few months ago and didn‘t bother waiting for the new one… unless Apple changes it’s now apparent rip off policy, it will be my last one…
Does anyone take pictures with their iPad? And most people wear headphones when watching stuff anyway.
Is ipad 2022 worth upgrade from ipad 2020 ?
Please compare this with the iPad mini as well.
However 64 gigs are way too small for a tablet with 8 gb of ram. Remember, apps will need more internal memory over time.
I agree, if the new design were that important to me, I am getting the air 5 over this.
Thank you for making this video, I was wondering if it was worth it
I’m so disappointed by this new model.
400$ would be good for a base 128Gb option. Currently it’s just way too close to the Air in price to the point where it’s nonsense.
You need to compare charging speeds. Both charge at 20W max, but the new 10th gen has a smaller battery so it should charge a little bit faster.
Bruh, it's an iPad, where tf you taking it, where you can't charge it?
@@thetechrealist It’s an important topic to me, I use my iPad a lot and frequently need to charge it and my 6th gen only charges at 10/11W, even with a 20W one and a USB-C cable. Because it’s capped.
I have the iPad 10th gen and it’s charging at 30w using anker 737. So much faster than previous iPads. There’s a lot to like in this iPad.
@@adammachin that’s really nice to ear! It seems the iPad Pros 2021 charge at 27/28W with 30W (or above) chargers.
