What a mix Simplex 2903-2901-9806 and Wheelock AS man i really like those schools from the 2000s

This system reminds me of that library at Richmond, TX. Their system has Simplex 2903-9001s mounted on the ceiling with some sort of horn. They also added Simplex 4903-9219s mounted on the ceiling as well for either extra coverage or replacements. Then they added Wheelock MTs in small rooms for the library as well. That’s a weird system

interesting system of the library you mentioned!
I hate Wheelock MT's and System Sensor SpectrAlerts models that beep! (I'm not sure what model number that is)
Can't stand either! My elementary school used to have Wheelock MT's on continuous and it was fucking torture for me bcuz they were everywhere in the building!
That's why Simplex TrueAlerts are always my favorite and a lot better than Wheelock MT's and System Sensor SpectrAlerts models that beep!

My local Costco is mixed alarms galore! The original alarms were 4903 - 9105 strobe plates with 9838 horns, though most of them were replaced with 9236 horn/strobes at one point. There were 1st gen Gentex SHGs added to a then newer part of the store, though one was replaced with an MT over 10 years ago. The panel right now is a 4010es, but that thing is having problems. I’ve heard it may be getting replaced in the future, though it’s not gonna be anything Simplex. The old alarms are slowly being replaced with L Series devices, there’s more everytime I go there.

Pull stations in schools should be key-activated only to prevent students from pulling false alarms.

Hey I grew up listening to mixed systems so this is nothing new to me. Doesn’t every system end up becoming mixed in the end?
Elementary: Simplex 4903-9219, Simplex 2901-9838+4903-9101, Gentex SHG. Wheelock AS-2415
Middle: All Simplex 4051+4050-80s with Edwards 270-SPO pulls
High: Simplex 2901-9838+4903-9101, Simplex 4903-9219, Space Age Electronics 2DCD+AV32, Edwards 892-2B, Classic SpectAlert, Wheelock AS
College: All Simplex 4051+4050-80s before they got replaced with SpectAlert Advanced Speaker/Strobe

      Complete opposite for me.
My elementary school was all EST integrity’s with 278b pull stations. Building was built in 1905, then heavily renovated and expanded in 2001.
Middle school had a Notifier NFS-320 panel, and used NBG-12s and white SpectrAlert Advance horn strobes, mostly ceiling mount with some wall mounts: two Wheelock 34Ts were left over from the old system, unhooked to my knowledge. Built in 1966 if I remember correctly.
High school had an EST3 panel with xenon Genesis wall mount horn strobes and 278b pulls, though one section on the lower floor was renovated in 2022 with compatible, identical sounding LED genesis. It was the oldest building in the district (1902) but got heavily renovated and received an expansion in 2015.
My college is a different story, as it has many buildings, built between 1894 (not a typo!) and 2021. Some have consistent systems, others are very mixed.
Most buildings have some sort of FCI or Gamewell FCI system, some with voice, some without. There are two buildings with an EST3 panel though, and a single remaining building with a Simplex voice system from 1987, which is original to its building.
Most pulls are MS2s, with some MS6s and MS7s (AKA BG12s.) One system is a retrofit Gamewell FCI E3 voice system, which still uses Simplex 4251-20 pulls from 1987.
Some buildings, my residence hall in particular, have mixed speaker strobes: most are Gentex SPKE4, but there are System Sensor SpectrAlert and SpectrAlert Advance ones in certain areas, as well as a Faraday one on my floor. Same is true for the building with the original 1987 Simplex system, which has a few 4903 ceiling speaker strobes and some TrueAlert remote strobes, though most or the original LifeAlarm Speaker-onlys remain.
A few buildings have mixed horn strobes. The business and economics building has FCI-rebranded Faraday 6120s in a 1990s add-on, FCI HE-8F-STWs in the original renovated 60s portion, a few SpectrAlert Advance P2R/P2Ws replacing broken 6120s, a central atrium with multiple of all three in the same room, and a more recently renovated auditorium with Gentex Commander 3s.
Similarly, the administration building, which has classrooms on the second and third floors, has both classics and advances.
The student commons and food court, which is mostly classics and one of the more consistent horn systems, has an I series horn strobe installed in a newer storefront.
Another building (college of education, built 1956 as a dorm, renovated 1994 with the dorm rooms serving as many of the professors’ offices.) has a mix of 2 versions of the 6120 horn strobe (1 is the larger trim FCI version, the other is the smaller 9838-style housing with FOS branding.) That building also has a few SpectrAlert Advances, a Gentex Commander 1, and a few older version Gentex GX-90-S mini horn strobes in smaller rooms.

I feel that. That’s what I endured in elementary school too. AS’s on continuous in every classroom and in the halls. The outside sucked too cause it had 34T’s and EHS’s all around the exterior of the building on continuous. I hated it so much.
