This is probably one of the best circuits I've ever seen! It may be short but the whole point is that is its a tribute to Yoshi's Island: one of Yoshi's most iconic adventures & one of the SNES's greatest games. I seriously love all the detail they did for this whole track from beginning to end! The unique & iconic music, familar areas of the island & also well known enemies. Its literally like one giant love letter for Yoshi's Island fans! I usually love circuits when they fully represent a certain game like Luigi's Mansion & the 3DS's DK Jungle (representing DK Country Returns).
I wanna cry like a baby. So much love for SNES Yoshi's Island put into one Mario Kart track. That is one of my absolute favorite Mario games, whoever conceived this beauty sure is a fan of the classic too. The music is way too much. 😭❤️
Same same, Yoshis Island is such an incredible game that is aesthetically and functionally pleasing as it is efficient with how it was able to presumably cram so much into a then-small cartridge space, and to see the love and small details gone into this map with the sfx and gingles made me a bit emotional too
This is by far my most favorite course in Mario Kart 8 deluxe it’s so beautiful and i really like all the references and details from the Yoshi’s island game I also love how Poochy is sleeping on the mailbox so adorable 🥰
If you don’t want to buy it, I’m pretty certain this track will come to Mario Kart Tour (the mobile game) sometime in the future. It won’t look/play as nice but it’s an alternative
Another Fun fact: the Mario Kart 8 coin sounds were remade with the Yoshi's Island "vibe" instrument, the same used to do the coin sounds in the original SNES game. (Also used for the bridge sound effects used in the track and original Yoshi's Island)
This track touched me especially since I grew up with Yoshi's Island (the GBA version). First of all, the start up theme when the race starts and at the victory theme are from Yoshi's Island. I vibed really hard when I won! Love it! From the music, the references in the track I loved it a lot! I hope in the remaining tracks we can have "collab" tracks that change the music just like in Yoshi's Island, Animal Crossing and the F-Zero tracks! Very incredible!
As usual, the attention to detail is superb. I'm just a little thrown off by the music not muffling itself when underwater, but that's my pickiness for what I would've done to make it better The remix of the Athletic Theme is incredible, too! Very bouncy and the strings sound so nice
They might actually change that. Not the first time they forgot about something in the booster pass. In wave 2 they forgot to fix some shadows and that got added later so let's see!
as soon as I heard the custom course preview theme when I played this track the first time, I knew I was gonna be in love. But then when I heard the ending theme, my heart melted with joy.
I've been a mario kart fan my entire life, but one of my FIRST videogames was Yoshi's Island. Its still my favorite platformer, so seeing this awesome marriage of 2 of my favorite things is pretty much the best thing ever! I love how Nintendo incorporated as much of the original sound and visual design into the course as they could. It warms my heart!
*THIS!* Is the best thing that ever happened to the Booster Pass. The love and detailed amount of passion put into this (Sound)track - is AMAZING! The Jingle at the start and the Result Screen made me almost cry out of nostalgia and happiness when played for the first time. Also the little details on the Cloud, the Bridge and even the Notification for the bridge to disappear is SO GOOD! Not to mention the coins and the tons of well known enemies of the Original is astounding, they are all over the Course in the Background. 10/10, would drive again.
When they first showed this course off with the helicopter cam, I thought it was going to be a bit contrived, theme-wise. A visual mess with stuff thrown everywhere, like sky-high sundae was. Seeing it from ground level, I am happy to say I was wrong--the composition of every area is perfect. In fact, this DLC has been the redemption arc of the year. I'm very impressed by the devs' rate of improvement, assuming it's the same artists doing all 6 waves. Now if only they'd go back and re-artpass some of the older courses with their developed skills.
This is why I love that stage so much and I love when you end a race it has the finish the level music with results music from Yoshi's Island on SNES. It's one of my favorites as a kid, to this day I still play it and still have the copy of it too.
Yoshis island was one of the first games I’ve ever played so this holds a special place in my heart. I didn’t want to get my hopes up on this track but I just got done playing it and man let me tell you, it lived up to the hype. Every aspect of this course is amazing. Everywhere you looked there was something I noticed from the original game. I’m blown away with this. Hands down my favorite course in this game. I was kinda disappointed with some of the tour tracks and I felt like they were getting too repetitive but this broke the curse.

This is one of three good tracks from the wave, and it's the best of them all. I've never played any Yoshi games, but I adore every single little reference.
They even put the "bounce" sound ins, when you drive into an enemy...the really went all out and it shows...I'm so in love with this track, everything is feel good vibe and catchy
And you think that the bounce sound is a nice touch. The Piranha Plant makes the same biting sound from the original and when you hit it it makes the same sound of defeated Piranha Plants is the original game. I think i'm the only one who noticed this.
This makes me wish Super Mario Odyssey 2 focused more on the older games outright. Like they did for the costumes in Odyssey 1. They can make Mario embark on a time scrambled mission like this.
Because Yoshi’s my favorite character, and for my love of the sub-series this track originates from, Yoshi’s Island has officially dethroned Big Blue as my favorite non-Rainbow Road Mario Kart track. (The N64 & 3DS RRs are my Top favorite MK tracks individually, either based on Nostalgia, design, music, and anything in between) 😊😄😁

It took me a while to realise why the Blue Shell never appeared, lol. It’s a VS race, so the player probably turned it off. That also explains why they were miles ahead of everyone else, and they didn’t even have a chance. XD
Obviously the studio couldn’t stop with just adding the course, no! They just had to throw it to us straight with the Detailing of effects and the start and ending tracks😭😭😭😭 Way too nostalgic rn
one of the best Mario Kart tracks ever, I kind of want most Mario Kart 9 stages to be a retelling of specific Nintendo games, imagine a Pikmin track, Metroid track, pokemon track or a Legend of zelda track based on the windwaker or another zelda game... would be sooo cool Mario kart has been all about Mario characters/tracks for a long time and i think the way to make a new Mario Kart game fresh would be to go the "smash bros" route

The music, the sound effects, the scenery, the characters... everything about this stage is PERFECT. This may be my favorite original MK8 track. :-)

Yoshi’s Island on the GBA and Mario Kart DS were my first games, so the culmination of these 2 almost made me cry
