    This video lesson covers the direct objects (lo, la, los, and las) that we use in Spanish instead of 'it' and 'them'. We'll have to worry about gender, plurality and placement for these though! Stay tuned to figure out how.

    in Spain they say "patata". In Latin America, they say "papas"
    So in Spain, I believe, "patatas fritas" would be the preferred method while in Latin America, "papas fritas" would be preferred.

    • @thearbitrer8027
      @thearbitrer8027 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're right,I'm from Latin America,we say "papitas" as diminutive.That's the most common reference to them.

I used to teach preschool and also possess the special talent of making up a song for anything and everything (kids under 5 will do anything if you sing it.. its like they are under a spell). I'm actually working to become an art and music therapist. amazing how visual and auditory sensory inputs engage the brain! Love what you are doing!

    You are such a blessing. Thank you so much. I had to pay $300 for an access code from Portales for my spanish course which is meant to be the main form of learning for the class. It is so horribly and cheaply designed that its nearly impossible to understand the concepts they 'introduce'. Thanks to you I will not be failing a $800 college course and I actually understand what is going on when I watch your videos.

      I'm doing portales right now. Thankfully my school covered the cost but my god. This textbook is utter crap. My professor just uses that entirely. It's my entire class. Hola Sr.Jordan,
    I teach Spanish online for a California Community College and have been including your videos in my classes as resources for a few years. I thought you'd like to see this recent comment from one of my students, " ...the video that seemed to benefit me the most this week was Jordan’s lesson for Direct Objects. Jordan broke down the sentences into the parts, subject, verb and direct object. He compared the parts both in English and Spanish. This made it easier for me to recognize the direct objects in the Spanish sentences and I could more easily see which pronoun to use."
    I do have a request. Do you think you could close caption your videos? TH-cam makes that easy to do and our college is very keen on having us use materials that are accessible for all students.
    Thank you!

    Great question. So "muchos" is modifying "libros" (a lot of books)... thus when we convert "libros" to the direct object, any adjective (description word) modifying it will also be included in the idea of the lo/la/los/las.

    In my 70s and have watched a lot of videos over a six month time period. You have great videos. Slow and careful explanations help a lot. The songs and puppet add to it also.

    This is actually incredibly helpful. It's structured in such a well-presented fashion, but it manages to not oversimplify anything. This is truly perfect!

    Señor Jordan. You are the best Spanish teacher. Muchas gracias! Wondering what happened to you and if you are still out there teaching Spanish or what are you doing with your life?

    Do you ever use "le"?

    • @SeñorJordan
      @SeñorJordan  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Xeasar "Le" is an indirect object. It is used at other times.
      You might check out the video on indirect objects:
      th-cam.com/video/LpheUjzgwhY/w-d-xo.html
      or the song on indirect objects:
      th-cam.com/video/xpNIPt5gDzg/w-d-xo.html
      *Important note* There are some people that use "le" when it would grammatically speaking be "lo" or "la. This tendency is called "leísta" you might google that to find examples.

      Thank you very much! Just recently discovered your channel after completing the Duo Lingo lessons. Spanish is a beautiful language that shares many similarities with both English and my native Serbian, I just love it.
