    Gary knows his technical coaching inside out having proved himself with both young players and the worlds best alike. All the best coaches and players have an open mind so it’s worth watching his videos as I’m sure there’s something you can take away and help you.
    His points on alignment and balance are spot on so try it!

    I think he’s seen me bat - everything he talks about that’s wrong is me! Thank you guys. I’ve been practicing and it really does work to get that top hand in play, playing in front, and clean hitting 😀

    Excellent batting tips on grip and stance from Gary Palmer

    I'm a lefty too so I watched this with interest. First 2 things I thought at the start were 1. You're front pad stayed legside of the ball 👍🏽 2. You were batting outside leg which I was a bit confused by.
    Gary's advice is obviously bang on. The biggest thing is all about getting you moving towards the ball with ur head rather than falling over to off-stump...but tbf you werent doing that anyway.
    Overall I wouldn't have turned so square on but instead I trigger with my back foot towards middle and squat down on my back heel but keep my head fwd. My front leg doesn't move which allows me to stay legside of the ball as long as possible...but the trigger, squat and head position allows me to be in a dynamic position to play either on the front or back foot as needed.
    The things I would say is that when you turned square your stance was more middle and leg v outside leg when you started which could account for a lot of the improvement. But on the flip side there were no short balls to judge the technique overall.
    But I see the logic of the coaching. And you def looked better!

    *I wish I had come across of Gary when I got my first bat when I was 12 years old. I have hit more sixes in one year than my entire past after watching him last year. I am 34 by the way!*

    Very well explained and simplified batting methods, but i think off side game with this technique is bit harder to deal with and i think Gary has no where talked about dealing with outswing balls..

    One of your biggest problems is your hands are not coming under the line of your head and your backswing is arced and not straight. Your bat ends up near your right arm pit on follow through instead of out infront of your head. Ball will not go where you want it to.

    Easy to see why Gary never made it as a player

    • @davidholgate123
      @davidholgate123 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are hundreds of outstanding coaches in the world who never made it as a top player. The same in football where there's loads of examples of this and in fact, most of the top coaches/managers had very ordinary playing careers... Gary improved Alistair Cook's game massively, so that's good enough for me!
