This is a joy. Exactly what we want. You really can't beat it when participants share memories between themselves. So much better than being interviewed.
Gazzara was diagnosed with throat cancer or mouth cancer, and was successfully treated surgically, but ultimately succumbed to the disease. He worked steadily until the end of his life.
Is he the same Ben Gazzara who, in the 1990s, did the narration for the dinosaur series Paleoworld? Because, although also deep, the voice doesn't quite sound the same. Then again, it seems unlikely that there were 2 different men with that same name doing television around the same time.
@@tomc8617 Yes, Tom, Ben narrated the series paleo world. He had a great voice for narrating. He was a great guy. I met him several times. He was very intense in person. His presence was remarkable. Even as a family member. We were compelled to focus on his every word. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleoworld

From the few clips i've heard online, it isn't Gazzara... from IMDB it looks like he only narrated two episodes ? www.imdb.com/title/tt1301013/fullcredits
@@sam_fujiyama - IMDB is wrong. He narrated the entire Season 1. Other people did Seasons 2 through 4. I have all 4 seasons on my PC and can confirm it. I just wasn't 100% sure it was the same Ben Gazzara. However, Peter Gazzara Sr, commented above that it was in fact his cousin.
@@sam_fujiyama - You're welcome. IMO, he was by far the best narrator of the series. Here's an example from Season 1. Title: Mysteries Of Extinction (PaleoWorld) (22 min) th-cam.com/video/yiOXmtmO63A/w-d-xo.html
I loved them in Hysterical Blindness. It was so moving to see this tender love affair between them as older people.

Killing of a Chinese Bookie is a master work and Ben was a wonderful actor....
For ever in my memory.
the greatest people of their art form
I'd put Bergman's stable of Liv, Max, Bibi, Harriet, Gunnar Björnstrand and Erland above them. But for American cinema, good shout!
Ben Gazzara ... Wonderful actor ... wonderful human being!

Ben, a cousin of mine and a great actor. He is missed!

SH BOOM SH BOOM Mr Gazzara RIP
This dude looks nothing like Jackie Treehorn.
Big Lebowski is just bullshit. Shallow, nothing.
